Vermont legalizes same-sex marriage
From CNN:
Vermont's House and Senate voted Tuesday to override the governor's veto of a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state.
The Senate voted 23-5 to override Gov. Jim Douglas' veto, according to the Senate office. Shortly afterward, the House overrode the veto on a 100-49 vote. The votes surpassed the number needed -- two-thirds of those present -- to override the veto.
The action makes Vermont the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriages. The others are Massachusetts, Connecticut an

Happy birthday, storm puppy
A year ago today, during a tornado, I rescued the storm puppy.
It may be time for treats and tummy rubs.

"Go get married. Live happily ever."
From CNN and chopped up by me:
The Iowa Supreme Court unanimously rejected a state law Friday that banned same-sex marriage...
"This is a great day for civil rights in Iowa," said former Iowa Solicitor-General Dennis Johnson, a co-counsel with Lambda Legal. "Go get married. Live happily ever."
The court's decision becomes effective in 21 days, and county recorders then will be required to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Lambda senior staff attorney Camilla Taylor said at the news confe

Movies
I just saw Scream for the first time. I'm behind the times, since I remember talking with Bryan about Scream in the library in high school. Or middle school. High school. Anyway, clearly, I'm late to the screamfest.
I like horror/suspense movies, though, because I like the stories. They interest me more than, for example, romantic comedies. Whenever I see the trailers, I get intrigued: what is going on in that abandoned house, and why is that little boy so creepy?
My question is: if you've s

Sunday
Good news: New short story "Affair in Paradise!" Go to Torquere right now. Go! You'll thank me later.
Other news: Have a lot going on today. Woke up early to get a head start on everything. Immediately got a call that threw my entire schedule out of whack. Now trying to rearrange the whole day, which involves coordinating with a bunch of other people. Schedule got off to a late start and I wish I'd slept longer, especially since (thanks to the rearranging) I'll now be up later.

"Affair in Paradise"
My new short story, "Affair in Paradise," is available today - - yes, today! - - through Torquere Press. Right now, I don't have a direct link because it's not up yet, but as soon as I get one, I'll let you know.
If you catch it before I do, you're welcome to post it here to let folks know where to go.
"Affair in Paradise" is a short, simple romance. There's attraction and flirtation. There's (hooray!) sex. But it's mostly about: I like you, and I want to be with you, and how can we make this

About those ads
I haven't said anything about the new set of ads because I'm still figuring out what I think of them. (My views on the porn industry are ever-changing.) I've blocked a few of them, and I've talked with Kim about blocking a few more. (She was like, block them for what? I was like, um, because they're offensive. She was bewildered.)
There is good news, though. I figured out how to change the code so that there are now fewer ads per page.
Let's be honest: I'm not putting ads on my site because
