Every FCC Viewer Complaint About Michael Sam Kissing His Boyfriend

http://deadspin.com/every-fcc-viewer-...

I only follow sports that involve people punching each other in the face or breaking arms*, but, like

Fourth one down has scare quotes around the word boyfriend.

"boyfriend"

Like, if you sit there and think about it and unpack the motivation for wanting to deny a human being even the IDEA of a relationship just because you don't approve, that is a disturbing lack of empathy and just generally very sad.

If, however, you have long found overuse of scare quotes HILARIOUSLY out dated and ridiculous--

Well. It's still awful, but you might also cackle for a second, is all I'm saying.

I also perversely enjoyed the sprinkling of ANGRY ALL CAPITAL LETTERS throughout.

*RONDA ROUSEY HYPE TRAIN 4 LYFE--no really, she's awesome.

My plagues are flooding fridges and chronic park masturbators: an update

So for me it's been an interesting summer, and a challenging few weeks, by which I mostly mean:

1) my fridge flooded my entire apartment building's floor, shared hallway included, and

2) Today I called the cops on chronic "I'm going to masturbate in the park" guy, who jerks it at the dog park or IN THE KID'S PARK, at high noon, and who has generally been ruining my atmosphere for a while. Anyway, the cops were nice, but let it be known that filing reports takes time. Also, this was a very gross and distressing thing to have happen repeatedly, and I had a fight with a (male) friend who was like, "but why would that make you sad?" BECAUSE IT'S GROSS AND I FEEL VIOLATED BY A MAN MASTURBATING TO ME AND MY DOG WHEN I'M JUST THERE TO THROW FRISBEE, all right? That it's distressing is self evident, or, I feel: it should be self evident.

But whatever! I have survived. I tell you these things to generally illustrate that I'm a perpetually vaguely frazzled but game person, because that explains a lot. Moving on.

GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE.

There's this sophomore slump thing that happens to most of us, right, when the second of something is a hot mess we panic about no matter what. And it takes longer (forever!) and everything. And for a while, for me, the third book, too, was like--I wrote myself into a corner, god, everything is so depressing, this is so sad, like the content is so heart wrenchingly sad that writing it is a bummer so I'm not gonna for a while.

HOWEVER

Book 3--which in my head I call WEREWOLF HAMLET, after a significant subplot that really isn't exactly or much like Hamlet at all, but nonetheless--is going awesome. And is nearly done. And I'm very, very excited to share it with everyone.

I am gleefully clapping my hands and chortling to myself right now, which you can't see, but trust me. I'm like two seconds from cackling manically.

Also, I will in fact be at Dragon Con again this year, so y'all who are gonna be in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend should came have coffee with me.

PS: hahah, it still is way heart wrenching though. but it's also AWESOME.

PPS: it is my dream to stand in an elevator with fans of my work and evaluate the elevator's built in weapons for potential effectiveness.

PPPS: if you are truly intrigued by the minutiae of my life as a human being, the only social network I update consistently is Instagram: @squidhearts. In summary: dog, dog, outfits, dog, selfie, gym stuff, dog, random creepiness, local flavor whatever, dog.

superior knowledge

This is the most perfect text message barrage I’ve had the pleasure of receiving in my entire life.  I’m that person. I became what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Also, the answer here is probably anxiety.

I need to have a sex advice column.

WHY DOES THE WEREWOLF SUDDENLY HAVE A WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT DEGREE?!

Fundamentally, because

1) I think it’s hilarious, and
2) he’s always had one but not always mentioned it (just as Leander was always Latino but didn’t mention it for a while either), and
3) wolves in general are very important to their ecosystems and do all kinds of good things for sustainability.

But seriously, look at this picture and just TRY to tell me it’s not adorable/hilarious.

This morning I made the mistake of sitting down on the couch for a second between making coffee and breakfast. By the time I could get up, everything was cold and everyone was running a little bit late.

“Women are told it is unfeminine and gross to have muscles and to cultivate strength, which in turn leads them to actively avoid doing things that will build muscles and strength, which then makes them even less capable of doing things that require strength, which the critics then use as proof of women’s inherent physical frailty. And so the cycle continues…”

-

Women’s difficulty with pull-ups is about more than biology | Fit and Feminist  (via housewifeswag)

And the physical activities considered “feminine” are then seen as less challenging and requiring less strength than more supposedly “masculine” sports.  I’m thinking of ballet, competitive pole dance, gymnastics, and things like that compared to weightlifting, boxing, etc.

(via misandry-mermaid)

Ballet is so fucking harsh, man. Give me some powerlifts to do instead any day.

Even yoga is way strength based and can be very physically challenging, but it’s generally degraded as not really being exercise because it’s become a girly sport now.

What’s also weird is that the stereotypical “feminine” facets of very “masculine” sports are then also under discussed, outside of that particular sport…boxing is very cardio intensive, sure, but it’s also very much about timing and grace. And a lot of martial artists are also dancers, because these things are actually very similar.

Bruce Lee was a cha cha champion, y’all. And I’m sure Rhonda Rousey can kill it on the dancefloor.
