I am writing previews or advance reviews or something—I am newly hired and not entirely clear on the scope of my duties—for some COMICS, for a fun news outlet. This is great for lots of reasons! Writing, reading comics, and having opinions about stuff? Those are three out of my top five pursuits in life (the other two are gym time and sexytime). How cool is it to go a thing you love, for money, that is also good for and extremely relevant to the career you love? SO COOL. The best, possibly.

As a girl who goes into comic book shops, you deal with assholes who shit test you. By “assholes,” here I mean “asshole guys.” Sometime these asshole guys don’t even address you. They address your boyfriend, and snootily ask him things like, “does she even read comics?” While you’re standing right there. Holding a stack of comics. While wearing a Batman t shirt, for a random example of a thing that totally happened to me.

"MOTHERFUCKER," I will now be able to yell at this breed of douchebag, "I READ COMICS WHILE THEY STILL HAVE THE ‘PREVIEW COPY ONLY’ WATERMARKS ON THEM, HOW ABOUT YOURSELF?" And then I’ll dickslap them with my metaphorical penis.

CITY WOLF NEWS, and also other things

Hello, beautiful and loyal internet followers. Please excuse my absence. I have been very busy doing dashing exciting things, or I have been busy being mildly seasonally depressed and laying in bed staring unblinking at the ceiling. Feel free to choose whatever life narrative you find more sympathetic. Both are true.

but ANYWAY.

I found a wonderful editor! And by “found” I mean “a friend arranged it for me every step of the way.” Regardless, THERE IS AN EDITOR, who edits. And she is glorious. She is also HALF WAY THROUGH the book, which means the book will be available soon. I swear.

The first book, as some of you know, had no editor. There was just me and Microsoft word’s spellchecker. This is why I have a lot of awesome reviews that love the book but still mention typos and misspellings. I’m a shit editor, you guys. So for the second book, I really wanted to up the production value and just have…a good book. A polished book. Or at least a book that didn’t distract from the story by having typos sprinkled throughout. 

So, yeah. That takes longer. I also had three different editors commit to the project and then back out, so that took up even more time. And this was discouraging, don’t get me wrong, so I definitely fell off the horse for a bit in the face of such set backs. I’m not blameless. But BOOM! You guys, we are nearly there. Tell your friends.

Thank you for being patient and wonderful people. Extra thank you to everyone who has sent me a polite email inquiring after the book’s progress. Some of you have been kind of passive aggressive about it—shout out to the person who was like, “OR SHOULD I JUST GIVE UP WAITING?”—but that is very sweet too, in a way.

So. Almost there. I have some other stuff going on in the meantime. Work on book 3 has already  begun and the wait between books will not be as long the next time.
