Cover reveal: Unfamiliar

Photography by Tera Lankard
Cover Design by Eden Crane DesignHailey Peters has always held onto the familiar. From the way she wears her hair, to dating her childhood friend-turned high school sweetheart--she sticks with what she knows, and she’s convinced herself that this is what makes her happy.Chase Lancaster doesn’t play by the rules. He’s a classically trained pianist who rocks out in a punk rock band every weekend, and isn’t afraid of taking chances.
When they are assigned to co-write a song for their college music class, Hailey can’t imagine anyone she has anything less in common with than Chase. She is a sweater-wearing, neat freak, and he is disheveled and rough around the edges. As they spend time together, they both find a place in each other’s lives—a place where they challenge each other to be different and to embrace the unfamiliar.
Hailey never planned for a Chase Lancaster in her life, and she is about to find out that this walking contradiction will change her forever.

Update on Unfamiliar!

Komal Kant and I are still working on Unfamiliar, I know we haven't talked much about it lately but rest assured, we are working on it! I'd say we are just about half way through writing the first draft. We have a strong outline so it's been easy writing it so far--just finding the time between the holidays and illness has been tough!

My friend Tera Lankard took the photo for our cover and Eden Crane has designed a beautiful cover for us. We got to see it earlier today! We can't wait to show you!

I'm not sure when we will reveal it but I imagine pretty soon. Komal and I weren't even going to mention Unfamiliar until this fall and I'm pretty sure we made the announcement in July soooo obviously we can't keep a secret! LOL

In the mean time, I'm going to start writing my next chapter and then get some more work done on Like the Dawn (Lark #3). I wanted to get a lot done this weekend since my husband was gone and I tend to be pretty productive when he is away but I wasn't feel well. :(

Tis all for now!
XOXO

5 Things About Me

1. I was the captain of my high school cheerleading squad AND a huge nerd. I definitely wasn't one of the "cool" kids but I was a pretty good cheerleader (even was voted "Most School Spirit" and "Most likely to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader" for Senior Choice Awards LOL). But instead of spending my weekends getting invited to parties and hanging out with the popular kids like one would expect of a cheerleader--I was either working at the movie theater or reading a book. Sound familiar? ;)
I also have ridiculously curly hair.
2. For an entire decade I read the entire Harry Potter series on a continuous loop so when I say I've read each of those books at least 100 times--I'm not exaggerating. I'm obsessed. I even have my own wand! When a UK reviewer compared my books to the Harry Potter series on Amazon, it totally made my year! Best compliment EVER.

3. My husband owns more shoes than I do. True story. I prefer to be barefoot.

4. I'm a total city girl when it comes to most things but I want to live on a farm. Some day it'll happen. Not a huge farm but we definitely want a bigger garden and chickens and ducks (we raised ducks last spring and the kids loved it!)
From left to right: Quincy, Milly, Daisy and Gus

5.  Whenever anybody would ask "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I always said something expected like a "teacher" or a "doctor" or a "Psychologist" BUT the only thing I ever wanted to do was be a writer and a stay at home mom. I didn't want to admit to either of those things though because I thought people would react negatively and I'm a people-pleaser at heart. Now I'm BOTH of those things and I'm the happiest girl in the world!

Want to play along? Introduce yourself and tell me 5 things about you in the comments!

XOXO

Like the Dawn (Lark #3) Cover Reveal

I'm so excited to share this cover with you! Seriously it is my absolute most favorite cover ever. I love it so flippin' much!

Mia Carrington has finally done the very thing she was destined to do all along—she's broken the curse on the Dark Elves.
In order to make up for her mistake, Mia has chosen to make the ultimate sacrifice: her mortal life. The Dark Elves are now wreaking havoc on the mortal world while the Light Elves are trying to gain alliances.
It seems now that Dugan has come into full power, nobody is brave enough to help defeat him, and the kingdom of Álfheimr cannot do it alone. It's up to Mia to try to persuade the other kingdoms, Raumelfr and Gautelfr, to join in their fight. Only they seem more concerned with frivolous matters—like who will rule beside Mia when she becomes Queen.
Now that she has taken her place as King Alberico's rightful heir, there is no shortage of suitors seeking her hand. But her heart already belongs to somebody, despite the fact that she believes her choice has separated them forever.
Mia has made her decision to be immortal and there's no turning back now, but every choice has it's consequence and, like the dawn must fade into dusk, every beginning has to come to an end.

Expected Release: April 2014

NEW cover for LARK!

In November I had to get a new cover for In the Shadows due to circumstances beyond my control and I ended up loving it more than the original anyway (and I really loved the original!).

Eden Crane agreed to also design Like the Dawn for me when the time came. Then I got to thinking, it seemed silly to use the same model for only two of the three covers. So I asked her if we could redo Lark as well. She actually designed the original Lark cover anyway so honestly, it worked out perfect.
I'm excited that they are all going to REALLY "match" now!

So here is the brand new cover of Lark:

And here is it side by side with the sequel In the Shadows:

And as you can probably guess from the picture, I will be showing you the third and final cover very soon! Just wait until you see it! It's my absolute favorite of the three and I think they all look great side by side!

Now that I've seen the cover for Like the Dawn, I'm probably going to get all obsessed with finishing it early just so I can hold the paperback in my hands---which is probably great news for you Lark fans out there!

I'll be sharing the cover and the blurb for Like the Dawn on FRIDAY at 10am!
XOXO

Blog Tour: walker by Michelle Flick

I'm so excited that I'm the first stop on the WALKER Blog Tour! I love this book--and the cover is gorgeous:

Kate isn’t thrilled to be moving to the middle of nowhere. She's already lost her parents, now she's leaving the only place she's ever known as home. She’s not there long when she realizes her dreams aren’t her own and that she has the ability to walk through other people's dreams. Not only that, but she might have found her dream guy--literally. He's in her dreams.

Just when she starts to get the hang of dream walking, strange murders in her new town start to occur. Girls are being killed as they sleep with no evidence, no suspects and no clear motive behind the deaths. It doesn’t take Kate very long to realize that the girls aren’t just being killed as they sleep—they’re being killed in their sleep.

Kate must figure out how to find the killer in the real world and keep the ones she loves safe while they sleep.

You can get your copy of WALKER at  Amazon
And for the first stop of the WALKER Blog Tour, I thought it would be fun to do an interview with one of my favorite characters--Elise! Elise is Kate's best friend in Walker.

Thanks for stopping by today Elise! Let’s start off easy – What’s your favorite song?
Currently? Lady Gaga’s Applause. Because let’s face it – I live for the applause.

Speaking of applause--why did you quit cheerleading?
You may not have noticed this about me but I say a lot of inappropriate things. Like JCru wasn’t  actually a blonde. That she’s dumber than a box of rocks. That she smells worse than the boys’ locker room. She got mad. I wasn’t even being nasty – just honest. And that that vapid, tyrannical she-devil  decided I was going to be on “bad" list which brought on the rumor that I was sleeping with every member of the basketball team. So that made me mad so I slept with the basketball team and quit
What was it like being the focus of a serial killer?

You mean besides terrifying?  It was crazy. I was scared to go to the bathroom by myself. And then Kate tells me to knock myself out when I go to sleep. What would you do if you woke up with bruises and all the other girls were dying in their sleep?
Wait--you know they died in their sleep?

Yep.
How?

Well, that whole thing with Kate was off, so I bugged the crap out of her and threatened to go be friends with JCru if she didn’t tell me. I felt like I was crazy and knew she knew something. And she was holding out.
What did you think she was hiding?
Definitely not dream walking. I thought she was a peeping tom, the actual killer, and one ticket away from the loony bin.
So now that you know everything – what about Nick?

You mean the hottie that smooches my best friend? Him. He’s a good guy. He’s thoughtful and sweet and not just to Kate, to me too. They spend a lot of time together, but he includes me too and he can handle my comments. Not everyone can, ya know?

Thanks for hanging out Elise!

Happy New Year's Eve!

2013--what a year! I know that I documented most of this already but I figured it would be better to have it all in one post so that years down the road when I want to remember the year I became a published author, I can find it easily and reminisce. :)

January: I decided I was going to publish Lark after working on it for a year
I couldn't believe how thick it was!

Pretty paperbacks!February: I published my debut novel Lark

#3 Bestseller in FantasyMarch: I sold over 8K copies of Lark this month alone! It was insane! I haven't had that sort of success with the other two books (...yet but a girl can hope) so this was a HUGE deal for me!

April: My husband tore his ACL playing in a basketball game for charity which resulted in a surgery and being off work for the next 3 months.

May: Blondie #1 turned 6

Book signing at Minerva'sJune: I had my first book signing at Minerva's Candy Shop
I had surgery to remove the left side of my thyroid
I found out I had cancer
I attended Book Bash in Orlando with my husband, best friend and her
         husband and FINALLY got
to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
Platform 9 3/4

We met Katja Millay at Book Bash Orlando 2013

July: I had a second surgery to remove the other half of my thyroid--cancer free!

August: Blondie #2 turned 5 and Blondie #3 turned 3
Blondie #1 started first grade and Blondie #2 started half day pre-k

Two books! Though they will both be getting new covers in Jan!September: I published In the Shadows, the sequel to Lark

Hot New Release!

October: I attended my first author signing event, Indie Mash-up with two of my best author friends Komal Kant and Autumn Doughton
We all got to sit by eachother!

November: Participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time and wrote Pieces of Me
Jasper!                    We got a new puppy!

I love the matte cover!December:
I published Pieces of Me
I found out that Lark made Amazon's Top 100 Customer Favorites list! Here is the link: Top 100 Kids & Teens Kindle Books of 2013 --Lark is on page 2, 11 from the top!

June was the busiest month of the year--but this year as a whole has been one of the busiest of my life! It was filled with many ups and downs that's for sure but I think there was more good than bad.

My goals for the 2014:
                              1. Start exercising regularly. I can't afford not to now that I'm hypothyroid. I bought
Jillian Michael's Yoga Inferno and my husband got me a yoga mat so really I have no
                              excuse not to.
                              2. Publish Like the Dawn (Lark #3) and work on getting Forget Me Not ready
                              for publication.
                              3. Attend at least 2 book signings--either as an author or a reader--I'm not too picky. ;)

Happy New Year's everyone! I'll probably be passed out before the ball drops but I'll be sure to drink my glass of sparkling grape juice with the Blondies first!

XOXO

Pieces of Me: Teaser #3

This will likely be the last teaser of Pieces of Me before it's released because my fingers got a little itchy this afternoon and it's currently being "processed" ;)

“Holden, don't kiss me.” He blows out a gush of air, tilting his head towards the star-strewn sky before looking back at me with those

crazy, intense eyes that make me feel like I'm the only girl in the entire world. “Okay, I won't kiss you. Not
today. But someday, it's going to happen.” “I hope not. It would ruin everything,” I whisper softly. “I disagree, because Aria, if, no whenyou ever decide to kiss me...” He steps closer, leaning down until our
noses practically touch before continuing, “ I can guarantee I’ll be the last guy you ever kiss.” “Don’t hold your breath.” The words come out a little too breathy. I feel my cheeks redden in
embarrassment and silently pray he doesn’t notice. But the smirk painted on his face tells me he did.

Pieces of Me TEASER #2

Pieces of Me Dec 31st 2013
All the doubts that have been weighing me down for the last

few months fall away like the leafs in the autumn, making

room for the new buds of spring after the harsh cold of

winter has been lifted.
I'd like to say that I am finally at a place where my heart

can finally make room for Holden but the truth is, he's been

in there all along, just waiting for the chance to bloom.
