Top 100 Customer Favorites of 2013
Lark made Amazon's Top 100 Kids & Teens Kindle Books of 2013!!!
I'm still in shock! I didn't even know this was a "thing" but I'm certainly thrilled that it is and that Lark made the list!
I mean, I'm on the same list as books by Richelle Mead and Abbi Glines---two of my favorites! It's like a complete dream!
Eek!
That's all! I'm sure I can write something more eloquent later! Right now, I still shaking and cheesing like an idiot!
Much love to you all!

Pieces of Me TEASER #1
Pieces of Me
He doesn't say anything--he just pulls me into his arms and I let the waves of emotion crash down the
barriers I had so carefully constructed, smashing them to the ground with tsunami force, and I let it
because I know that Holden's arms are going to keep me upright.
A years worth of tears spill onto his shirt—I didn't think it was possible to cry any more but I was
wrong. He holds me in his arms until my eyes are red and dry and my breathing is nothing more than
gasps of air and gulps as I try to regain a little of my composure. Despite the hindering hiccups, I feel
like I can breathe for the first time in a long time.
“So what does this mean?” he asks.
“It means that I'm trying. Trying to be normal, to be the kind of girl who gets all giddy over her new
boyfriend, the kind of girl that smiles. But I'm not quite there yet. It means, that I'm asking for just a
little time.”
“Time I can give. But Aria, don't take too long.”

Tentative schedule for 2014
So I've actually accomplished a lot this week!I finished writing Pieces of Me. I'm just waiting for the last bit of notes from my beta readers and then I'll be sending it to Jenny at Editing4Indies--this is the first time I've had an actual editor so I'm excited!
Once I finish final edits, I'll pick a release date and share the new cover.
Komal Kant is in town this week. We've been working on the book we're co-writing, UNFAMILIAR. We've done a lot of character development, worked out a detailed outline and tweaking the plot. It's going to be amazing and I can't wait. We've written up to chapter 3 so far.
Then last night while we were watching World War Z, I had some MAJOR inspiration (Weird, I know. And no, the inspiration is not at all zombie-related). You know how I started Lark and In the Shadows with a dream? Well, I wanted to continue that with Like the Dawn. I knew what/who I wanted her to dream about but I wasn't sure HOW it was going to happen--until last night! It just came to me and it's absolutely perfect (heart-wrenching to think about, but perfect) soooooooooooooooooooooo this got started a month earlier than I was planning to:
It's been a very productive week in the Cope house. I'm going to fix dinner now and then teach Komal how to knit and then we'll probably work some more later tonight.
I seriously can not wait to publish Pieces, finish writing Unfamiliar and start writing Like the Dawn. 2014 is shaping up to be another busy year! I just hope it's the good kind of busy and we have far less trips to the hospital in 2014. :)
Here is my tentative schedule:
Finish writing Pieces of Me--December 13th
Publish Pieces of Me--Late Dec/early Jan
Finish writing first draft of Unfamiliar--Jan 31
Publish Unfamiliar--Late Feb/early March
Finish writing first draft of Like the Dawn--March 31st
Publish Like the Dawn--Late April/early May
Then I plan to spend the summer re-working Forget Me Not, which is a YA contemporary romance about a boy and a girl who knew each other as children but are separated for several years and live very different lives. When they are reunited in high school they both pretend not to remember the other. I've started this one, I'm actually about half way done with it but I got caught up in Aria and Holden's story so it got put on hold.
Lots of stories to tell this next year! I hope you all stick around for them. :)

NaNo update: Final Week
Today is my 29th birthday. Man, I feel OLD.
But more important than my birthday, it's the last day of NaNoWriMo.
I haven't posted much this month and I'd like to blame it entirely on the fact that I've been writing day and night all month but that's just not the case--though I did write a lot this month, I also had several (albeit minor) setbacks. Take this week for example, I was on a writing roll Tuesday when my oldest daughter stepped on a piece of a wooden skewer (I guess that's the word? I just called it a giant toothpick) and I had to rush her (+ my two youngest and my two nephews...ages 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2--no joke. That's a baby a year, folks!) to the doctor because I couldn't pull it out myself.
It was a pretty good size piece of wood and was so deep in her foot that only about 1/2-1 inch was visible. Looking back, I would've liked to see my face when our doctor pulled that sucker out. Though I'm sure my expression mirrored that of the doctor and the two nurses that assisted: utter shock that such a huge piece of wood could imbed itself in such a tiny little foot.
Ignore the crap quality, I recently trading it my Galaxy Note for a regular phone with no data plan.
I still don't know how I feel about the change.
I snapped this picture while we were waitingThat's insane right? I mean look at the size of that thing!
I won't go into details but I'm telling you, it's been one crisis after another this month!
I was super excited about participating in NaNo but unfortunately I'm short almost 10K--boo!
Still, over 40K in a month is still a lot and yes, I probably could have cranked out the words to meet the goal but I'd much rather craft something that I love instead of just putting words on paper for numbers sake that I'd have to delete anyway---that seems like it would be cheating.
Despite not meeting the goal of 50K in one month, I'm very happy with the progress I've made on Pieces of Me and my current beta readers tell me they think it's fantastic so far, so if they truly mean that---YAY!
So I'm still working on this story. I have the bare bones of it written, all that's left to do is add the meat. :)
I'm still anticipating releasing it early next year. As soon as I'm officially done with the first draft, I'll announce the official release date.
That's it for now! November flew by! Hopefully, December slows down a bit.
Did any of you participate in NaNo? How did you do?

Link to Nook books
Lark and In the Shadows are now available on Nook!
There will be no paperbacks available of either book until probably after the beginning of the year.
Eden Crane will be designing a new cover for Lark and designing the cover of Like the Dawn in January with the same model she used to design the new cover for In the Shadows so I will probably wait for those to republish the paperbacks. I can't wait to see the new covers!
Anyway, I will however work on getting both books back up on Smashwords and Kobo soon. In the meantime, they are available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
I've been working on Pieces of Me (my NaNo novel) and I love Aria and Holden so much that I can't wait for you to meet them!

Surprise! New Cover for In the Shadows
Soooooooo I'm sure you've noticed by now that In the Shadows has a new cover. I don't really want to get into details on why I made the change, just know that it wasn't what I had planned because I truly did love the original cover BUT I'm really loving the new cover that Eden Crane designed for me just as much. Now if I could only figure out this whole formatting nonsense and find a nice Goodreads Librarian to update the cover for me.....*sigh* so much to do, so little time.
I'm officially behind now on NaNo because I spent the last 24 hours stressing out but I'm hoping to do some major catch up tomorrow.
For now, I'm calling it a night---I'm exhausted!

NaNoWriMo
So I decided to commit to writing a 50,000 word novel in the month of November---eek! That's a lot of pressure! So far I'm set to finish on Nov 21st so I hope I can keep up the pace! This is the first year I've participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) so I'm excited!
I decided to write Pieces of Me this month. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while so I'm excited about it.
Recently I randomly entered a giveaway with Cover Art Collective and I won a free cover design by Delilah Stephans Designs. Perfect timing, right?
So here is the cover of my NaNoWriMo novel, Pieces of Me:
And of course I had to share the blurb:
Aria Watkins’s life was on the perfect path, or so she thought. She and Sean had big plans for their future together. They were going to go off to college, get married, and have 2.5 kids. But when tragedy strikes, it destroys the heart of Aria and she's afraid she'll never be the same.
Heartbroken and confused, Aria starts college a completely different person. She hardly recognizes the broken girl she's become, but she can't seem to find the strength to put back together the pieces either.
Enter Holden Whitmore.
He's charming, considerate, and he's making it his mission to make her smile.
At first, she isn’t impressed with him, but he’s persistent and soon she discovers there’s more to him than just a charming smile.
Aria was sure she'd never be able to move on with her life, but there's just something about Holden that makes her want to try.
When her tragedy comes full circle, she’s left with a choice: Keep holding on to the past, or move on and find her future...
I love the pretty tones of the cover! And I haven't seen too many others that are similar so I really like that about it.
What do you think?
I'm thinking this will be a January release for me IF I finish it this month but you never know, I might just have another novel out before the end of the year after all. :)
