Does my necklace make me look tiny?

My husband invited me out to dinner.

I went shopping for the event,

and bought this necklace:

I felt pretty fashionable,

but my necklace kept crushing my food.

And my chest. And my vertebrae. And my soul.

I begged my dog to chew up my new necklace.

She laughed…and chewed leftovers, instead.

Moral of the story:

It’s not the outside that counts.

What’s inside the doggy bag is what counts.

Spring forward, fall down.

For me, autumn starts in October.

This is what the meadow looks like, near our house:

I’m inspired to bake apple pies, wear sweaters, and eat apple pies.

Which explains my sudden weight gain every fall.

October also marks my wedding anniversary.

It’s a good month to cuddle.

I urge you to celebrate your anniversary in October.

Dinner reservations are easy to get all month long.

The cool weather is perfect for romantic walks

and cuddling in front of a warm fire.

BUT FIRST,

make sure your beloved likes apple pie.

If you’re looking for something different to bake,

try making apple cake.

Working hard…or hardly working?

We got new patio furniture.

The chairs have CUSHIONS!!!!

They are sooooo comfy. Oh, happy day!

I love to sit outside and work. Much better than an office.

Problem is, there are a lot of distractions.

Birds singing. Wind blowing. Insects landing on me.

Yesterday, I might’ve swallowed a spider.

At least I didn’t eat a bee.

This post brought to you by Optimists.

We think spiders are good to eat.

It’s a dog’s life.

My brother has a beautiful wife, who loves Irish Wolfhounds.

Now we love Irish Wolfhounds, too.

img_2401-2

My brother’s wolfhound is HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

180 pounds, give or take.

img_2389

He is great company, but he’s a little clumsy.

He bumps into things, knocks things over, drops things.

But we love him, anyway.

There’s just one bad thing about owning an Irish Wolfhound…

You’ve gotta use a VERY big poop bag.

First day of school

Around here, it’s the first day of school.

In honor of that, let’s act on a dream/wish/goal.

Things they should teach at school

In honor of the forthcoming start of the school year,

I’d like the School Board to address the following issues:

TOPIC ONE:

3 copy 2

TOPIC TWO:

Shouldn’t our kids learn how to make a healthy version of this?

Truly, wouldn’t this type of endeavor solve a lot of our problems?

5

And finally, TOPIC THREE:

Shouldn’t there be a prom for parents?

7

Thank you.

What happens in a movie theater during a thunderstorm

I decided to see a movie.

Took forever to buy a ticket.

IMG_1826

The dude in the ticket booth wasn’t very helpful.

By the way, this is what happens at our movie theater during a thunderstorm:

IMG_1853

No electricity, no movie. I didn’t mind the wait, however.

The peaceful time gave me a chance to ponder some deep thoughts.

Moral of the story:

Never, ever go to the movies in a thunderstorm.

And never, ever lose your cell phone.

Deep thoughts

Whenever I’m with my teens, I need a translator.

What does “I ship Kristin and Joe” mean?
