Okay... FUN STUFF!
My interview with the boss man!

Hi David, I’m so excited to have you here today! As you know, I am a huge fan girl of yours, who is someone that you fan boy about?            I fan boy over Maggie Stiefvater all the time. Like, SWOON fan boy. I really love her writing and her stories.
What is the absolute first thing you do the very minute an idea comes to you? Are you smooth and calm or is more like running around like a chicken with its head cut off? (I’ll admit I’m more of the chicken and screaming…)            When an idea first comes to me, I usually write it down. I have about 50 Post-its all over my desk, most of which I can’t read. I’ve learned that I forget things too easily if I don’t write anything down. And, of course, if the idea is really good I may run around a bit.
What song are you obsessed with right now?            I still really love “Demons” by Imagine Dragons. I’ve listened to it countless times and I still can’t get enough of it!
I saw on Twitter that you write the end first. Do you write the rest out of order too, or just end first?            I DO write the end first! I usually have a general outline that I work from, but it’s not traditional by any means. I like writing the end first so I know where I’m going, and if I happen to take a few detours along the way I still know the final destination.
Do you have a special routine for outlining, plotting, writing, or editing?            Outline. Write. Edit. Edit. Edit. Edit. Edit. I edit the most, and when I do a lot of things change. Most often, the general story stays the same, but I rewrite a lot.
Do you have plans for book signings outside of Michigan?            I hope so! I’d love to travel more and see the world, and I also have really amazing readers all over that I hope to see one day soon!
If your characters take you to a place outside of your comfort zone, what do you do to keep some sense of normalcy outside of your head?            My comfort zone is massive, so I’m not sure my characters would do anything that I wouldn’t like. They do surprise me sometimes, though. The biggest thing I have to remember is that my comfort zone might be larger than readers, so I often have to wonder what a reader would think of a scene. Sometimes I have to tone things down a bit.
Do you have a favorite scene from each of your books? If so, can you tell me?            I love the scene in Light of the Moon when Calum and Kate are flying. To me, it was a very raw and real scene to write because both of them are completely open. Those are my favorite scenes, the ones that are as gritty as they are romantic. (That scene is one of my most favorite scenes! Like, I can still imagine the words, the feeling, and see the image in my head! LOVE IT!)
Least favorite time of day? (Mine is anytime before coffee, just sayin…)            Me too! Anytime before coffee! But I would have to say a little after noon I tend to get unmotivated. My good times are in the morning and at night.
If you could go on a writer’s retreat, or just a solo writing vacation, where in the world would you go?            I would love to travel, but I think a writing retreat (for me) would be best had in some quiet place near a lake or in the woods. I couldn’t write if things were too loud, and I wouldn’t want to write in a city with too much to do.
If you could have any supernatural power what would it be?            I would love to control an element. Or fly. Flying would be cool.
When a book makes you cry, you ______.            Read it again.
My last question, if you could have coffee or lunch with ONE character, from any book, who would it be and what would you ask them?            Probably Hermione Granger. She’s just so smart and brave. I want to pick her brain and ask about magic!
And I hope you don’t mind, but a child was attached to my side as I did this and she wanted to interview you as well. These next questions are from a fan of yours, my 14 year old. Remember, she gave you 10 stars for Light of the Moon…and crammed the book in everyone’s faces ;)David this is Asia, Asiathis is David. Enjoy! What is your favorite color?Hi, Asia! Thanks for these interview questions! My favorite color would have to be blue. Or green. Or both. Can I have two favorite colors?
What is your favorite animal?I’m a dog guy.
How did you get the idea for Calum?Calum is character that came to me because of emotional struggles. Not mine, exactly, but everyone’s. I wanted to show a character that had his heart of his sleeve, because you don’t see that often in the guys of literature.
Will your books be made into a movie?Wouldn’t that be cool! I would love Light of the Moon to be made into a movie. As of now, there are no movies plans. Cross your fingers!
How did you come up with names for your characters?I Googled a lot. Mostly, the characters just kind of popped into my mind. For Kate, I wanted her to have a name that sounded fierce and noble. For Calum, I wanted his name to reflect his quiet nature and thoughtfulness. I wanted Tyler to be everyone’s best friend. And I wanted Magdaline, the witch, to be as wild as her name.
Do you have plans for another book, like in a different series?I do! I can’t tell anyone anything about the new series right now – I’m still working on it and the details are a little fuzzy. I will say that it’s still in the paranormal/fantasy category. I also have a contemporary story I’m working on.
What’s your favorite time of year?Fall. Autumn. I love the leaves and the change and the cool weather.
What new books are you looking forward to reading?I’m really excited to read the new books from Holly Black and Maggie Stiefvater coming this fall. I’m also excited to read The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling, which I have but have not started yet.
Message from Asia: I love Light of the Moon and can’t wait for Shadow of the Sun! Write more books!
THANKS ASIA! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE!

The Blurb-
A demon with a pure heart, Micah Condie lives his life by a code of ethics, but breaking that code may be the only way for him to survive. A supernatural entity in her own right, Hope Gentry would do anything in her power to protect her loved ones, but she may be the one who puts them in peril.

Someone will enter THE WICKED.
Add it on Goodreads  About The Author
Helen was a complete bookworm from the time she could sound out the words on the page. She’ll always be thankful for her mom allowing her to read at the kitchen table during mealtimes. Reading naturally led to writing by the time she was eight or nine – she started with fantasy stories, dabbled in contemporary fiction, and even tried a little romance. MYTHOLOGY is an urban fantasy/love story and in that way reflects some of her earliest writing interests.

Things that inspire Helen to write are bowls of ice cream with lots of Magic Shell, the lack of cats or other things she’s allergic to in the vicinity, and plugging into playlists with her Neff headphones – the knit ones with the bear’s ears.

Playing For Keeps Blog Tour Stop!

The book -
The synopsis-

From New York Times and USA Todaybestselling author, Emma Hart, comes the second book in The Game series, and the story everyone wanted after The Love Game…
She's in love with him.
He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper – not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he’d ever built and tear them down without even realising she was doing it. Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn’t on Megan’s to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she’s come to know, she can’t walk away. Aston’s childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it’s clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he’s buried deep down. What he doesn’t want to face. What he’s fought against for so long. And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.
**This book can be read as a standalone novel, but reading The Love Game (The Game, #1) beforehand is advised.**
 My Review-
As you may already know, Emma Hart is my Critique Partner. We talk bookish things frequently. While she was writing Playing For Keeps, we didnt talk as much as we did for other books. She was THAT into this story. And it shows. Aston and Megan were her life and when she was done, we both felt it.
So, what can I say about Playing For Keeps?
I don't even know.
I loved it.
Was it Braden? No. Frickin'. Way. Braden is the best Caveman ever.
Aston? He was breaking my heart. Not in the way you'd expect.
His past sucked. Poor guy, I wanted to hold him. Just pull him off the pages and hug his brains out.
I did miss Kay. She was there, but not as much as she was in The Love Game.
We get to see more of Lila, which was great. And a bit more of Ryan, which was equally great.
One of my FAVORITE scenes in this story, was pretty much anything having to do with Aston's grandfather. He's an awesome old man, and raised Aston to be an awesome guy. Aston does have his questionable-ness... but he's got Megan on the brain and in his heart.
But I have to say my absolute FAVORITE scene was when Megan went to Braden at the bay. The thinking spot. I won't spoil it. But I totally loved it.
So there's my 2 cents, or 20. Take it how you want it, but I do hope you read this book! I don't like twisting arms... LOL

Excerpt -

ASTON:

“You okay?”
I shake my head. “No. Every time. Every fucking time he brings her up. I thought he wouldn’t in front of you, but he did.”
“He has his own pain,” she says softly. “It doesn’t excuse it, but he does. He feels guilty for what happened to you – that he couldn’t stop it.”
My mind reels for a second and I look down at her. “He told you that?”
She nods, letting her hand drop from my back and standing in front of me. I stop.
“You’ve never let him tell you.” She reaches up and cups my face. “He hurts, too, Aston. You both hurt. It’s not something that will go away, but you can’t let it rule your lives. If you let pain rule you you’ll get lost in it.”
“What if I’m already lost?”
“You’re not lost. You’re hiding, but you’re not lost. I won’t let you get lost.”
I let my hands come up and rest on her back, pulling her into me. “What if there’s no map?”
“Then I’ll get lost with you,” she whispers. “I won’t let you let them win, Aston. I won’t let you get sucked in by those demons. I won’t let that happen. I care too much.”
And she does. I can hear it in her voice.
She wraps her arms around my neck, and I hold her to me tighter, our foreheads resting against each other.
“I’ll try, Megs,” I promise. “I can’t say I won’t, but as long as you’re here, I think I’ll be okay.”
“And you’ll talk to your Gramps? Just once?”
“I’ll think about it. How about we just focus on stopping me from getting lost for a bit?”
“You just need a place to aim for, that’s all. You need a place to go to.”
“Go on then.” I smile. “Give me a place.”
“Okay.” She pauses for a second, closing her eyes and chewing her lip.
“I’m waiting…” I tease her.
Her blue eyes open, shocking me with their vitality. “Aim for the moon, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
“I don’t need to aim for the sky. The only star I’ll ever need is standing right in front of me.” I brush my lips over hers. “Maybe the place I need to aim for is nowhere other than where I am right now.”
“Maybe I’d go with you wherever you ended up.”
“Maybe I’d never ask that of you.”
“Maybe you wouldn’t need to ask. Maybe you’ll never need to ask me for anything, because I’ll always be here.”

Now some fun stuff!!

Mish-mash of things....

I haven’t done a post for a while. You might be wondering why… or maybe that’s just me. LOL.
Okay, here it goes…
I sent True Connection to my editor, who loved it by the way, she sent it back to me, I completed the corrections and added in things where they needed to be. And then I sent it back to her. And to my second round betas.
SO NOW I’M WAITING AGAIN. Agony. Pure freaking agony. I dislike waiting. It’s right up there on my HORRIBLE LIST, next to washing dishes and going to the dentist.
Because I’m waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more… I tried to write more in A Message of Flowers. My New Adult WIP that I’ve been teasing you all on Facebook with. I don’t have that much more to write, but being that it’s summer – CHILDREN EVERYWHERE – and release day is approaching, writing time is limited.
I can’t write. I did a little bit, but the whole time I was writing I thought, “this is non paranormal, it’s life. You know what? That is BORING. I need to play with a dragon.” You see, there’s three WIPs with dragons in them at some point. So I tried to write one of those stories… FAIL. I felt so guilty because there isn’t much left to write in AMoF.
My brain has some major attention issues today. “Aww, the florist and the mason kiss…. Where’s a dragon when you need one? Can the florist’s best friend have a pet unicorn? I wonder if the mason can build a castle for a fairy king…”
Spacey…
So I’m stuck.
Waiting some more.
*sigh*
So in light of that, I figure I’d share something with you.
I know I’ve told others, and I may have even made a post about it before. But I can’t remember, and True Connection release is less than a month away.
How I got the idea for this book:
It was late, or early in the morning. I was just starting to fall asleep when my phone rings.
-
“Hey,” I answered.
“Dude, I just had a dream that I pissed off all the Greek Gods. They chased me all over the world. I didn’t even get to stop to see the sites. *enter bad word here*”
I LAUGHED HYSTERICALLY.
Over the next few nights, I just couldn’t let it go. It wasn’t even MY dream.
After a week or so, maybe more, I started writing.
So this is what we have….
“I pissed off all the Greek Gods, they chased me down.” = Teenage girl meets supernatural teenage boy. He tells her he’s not human, she thinks he’s a psycho.

Don’t ask how that happened. That part is kinda fuzzy.
So if you want to be a part of the True Connection blog tour, here's the link. HEREIf you already signed up, ask a friend who hasn't. :) The more the merrier! And the dates July 18th & 19th could use some love, if you'd like to of course. There will be a giveaway from me for release week.... SHHH! I didn't say that, HAHA.
On the blog this week is my review of Playing For Keeps by EmmaHart.

In other news, David James has his series on sale until July 2nd. So good.
April Showers by Karli Perrin is &.99 and I think you should read that, too.
My lovely friend Carey Heywood released ANOTHER book, Him… you should totally pick that up as well.

Now I’ll leave you with this…..
MEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!!!!! lol. I'm excited if you couldn't tell!

Excerpt
I’m staring at myself in the mirror of my bathroom. It’s 3 am and I’m fighting with my reflection. Each part of me is demanding to be brought to the surface. The one looking at me is the girl I used to be. She’s begging to be let out, to be more than a reflection. Then there’s me, the one in the here and now. The damaged one looking to take over completely. Fighting. Always fighting, it’s like a never ending battle raging within myself and I can’t stop it. I don’t know how to stop it, I don’t know if I want to. It’s a constant reminder that this is the path I chose. The path so off course that I don’t know if I can ever return to the original one. I didn’t leave bread crumbs like Hansel and Gretel, although those didn’t work out well with them either.
I walk out of the bathroom and go to the bookcase to look for a book. I can see I’m not going to be going back to bed anytime soon, I might as well do something productive. Trying to do something to get my mind off of the war ragging within. Running my fingers over the bindings of the books, head tilted to the right reading the spines, when I come to this worn blue book. It looks completely out of place from the others. Were they look new, you can tell this one is old. It has no writing on the spine, so I pull it out to see what it is. Inscribed on the front in the most beautiful cursive I have ever seen is the word Divinity. Completely intrigued by what this book is about I head over to the lamp by the bean bag, turn it on, and collapse into the bean bag.
Page after page of information on destiny and the paths we are on. Different people’s takes on fate and whether they believe that we are all destined for a certain path. There was a story about how this girl didn’t believe she would ever get back to her given path, her destiny is what she called it. After years of working to right the wrong she’s done in the past, she finally believed she was on her predestined path and was finally happy. I close the book after her story to think about what I’ve read. If they’re right and we are destined for something, what the hell could I be destined for? How can this be the life laid out for me by the fates? The weavers of life. I guess they have a sick sense of humor. They pick people out to have issues to keep themselves entertained.
What if the book holds truth? Can I be like that girl? Maybe I was on the right path up until everything happened and I’ve been deviating ever since. Is there a way to get back to that? To free the girl trapped in the mirror? But if she’s free where would the present me go, into the mirror, or is there a way to merge the two? Maybe accepting all that I’ve done for what it was will be the key to becoming me again.

Excerpt:

I jerked up from the couch, but the repercussion that came with the motion made me curse. My chest heaved and sweat dripped down my face.

ÒChase?Ó I heard a voice say, but it was groggy. I wasnÕt quite in reality yet.

I cleared my throat and threw my legs over the edge of the couch. More pain came, but I didnÕt care. I needed to touch the floor. I needed to ground myself.

ÒChase, are you okay?Ó It was RaynaÕs voice and she ran down the stairs.

I screamed as the scabbed over skin on my back tore open when I attempted to stand. I fell to the couch and beat my fists against the cushions as though that could alleviate the pain.

ÒChase, heyÉcalm down.Ó

RaynaÕs voice soothed me. She crouched in front of me and carefully touched my shoulder. Calming energy emanated off her body and soaked into mine. The adrenaline and pain faded, leaving an empty pit stirring inside me. I went completely still. The green cat eyes staring back at me had stolen my words and my breath. Swelling had formed under RaynaÕs right eye and she looked tired, but she was as striking as ever.

ÒAre you okay?Ó she asked.

“With Me” by Sum 41 –Light of the Moon Playlist “These words are my heart and soul.” I love the wanting in this song. It’s a desperate kind of love song, one that really speaks from the heart. It’s not entirely sure where it will end up, but (like Calum), it keeps holding on.

<3 this :)

The other song I was given is another good song!
David has a pretty nice playlist :)

“Too Close” by Alex Clare-The Enchanter’s Fire
Sometimes, the world gets too close and you can’t see properly. This happens quite a bit for Lily in The Enchanter’s Fire because of her power. She’s even lost a few friends because of it. But, through it all, she powers through. There is strength in taking a moment to breathe and figure yourself out before moving on.

So there you have it! :)
Hope you enjoy!

MEGAN

“If you’re trying to hide, babe, then you’re failing. I can see you.” Aston’s words crawl over me in a smooth caress, making my throat dry up and my blood boil simultaneously.
“Why would I be hiding?” I sit up and look forward, determined not to meet his eyes.
He shrugs a shoulder carelessly, twirling a pen between his fingers. I catch his every movement from the corner of my eye. His eyes are burning into the side of my head - they’re begging me to turn, begging me to look.
“Because you want me so badly you can’t bear to see me,” he says in a dramatic tone with a touch of arrogance.
My back straightens. “Clearly someone has been feeding your ego again,” I reply dryly. “Because I don’t remember ever telling you I want you.”
His bicep brushes mine as he leans forward. “Is that so?” he asks, his voice low and barely perceptible.
I fight the urge to drop my eyes to the desk. “Damn right it is.”
A fingertip trails down the back of my arm, the tingling feeling making me fight against a shiver.
“I think you’re wrong,” he whispers. “Because I’m pretty sure you said you wanted me on Saturday night – right before you dug those nails of yours into my back and wrapped your pretty little legs around my waist.”
My head snaps round to him, and our faces are inches apart. His lips are curled in a slightly smug smile, and I hate the fact that’s where my eyes fell first. I drag them away from his mouth and across the sharp planes of his face until they meet his smoky eyes.
I remember why I didn’t want to look at him. His eyes have the power to entrance me and to break me. Right now it’s the former – the silvery hint at the edge of his iris pulling me in and holding me captive. I remember why, from the first touch of his lips against mine on Saturday night, nothing could have stopped us happening.
Here's the pretty lady that wrote it! :)   By day, New York Timesand USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to a terrible two year old and growing bump, due September 2013. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of juice and writes books.
She likes to write about magic, kisses and whatever else she can fit into the story. Sarcastic, witty characters are a must. As are hot guys. Emma is currently working too many books to even count - including Playing for Keeps, the companion book to New York Times and USA Todaybestselling novel, The Love Game. She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
