It puzzles me how unknown Helen Boswell’s series is. I went into it, expectations low, and was surprised at how much I had thoroughly enjoyed the first installment. The second book, The Wicked, is as addicting as the first.

I finished this book in one day. In retrospect, I kind of regret doing that. I find myself missing all the characters that I have come to love. The non-stop action kept me glued to the pages, and this book really just made me happy.

Finally, after a few hopelessly bad books,

I could go on and on about it, but there's really only one thing to say--

Effing brilliant.

You don't often come across a sequel that's better than the first book, but this is one of those times. If you loved Mythology, then you'll want to marry The Wicked. That simple.

Good Read

This is a good book I recommend all 3. I will more than likely reread them again. :) :) :)

An Open Letter To Mythology: The Wicked,

Well now, I feel like I've really been inside your pages. Oh wait, I guess, technically, I was. Can I just say that it's weird seeing one's name in a book and reading it over and over? It is, but it's also wonderful when she gets to have "moments" with one of your main book boyfriends. So thank you for that. Also, thanks for being so great on all the other levels. You didn't let

I was lucky enough to read bits of this as Helen was writing it, but I was thrilled to find out that the whole was much greater than the sum of its parts (and the parts themselves were quite good). This is a sequel to Helen's Mythology, but I think this is one of those unique cases where the sequel is even better than the first novel.

The book opens with Hope and Micah struggling to find a way for Micah to live with his demon status; Micah's values mean that he refuses to steal souls from others,

This is the second in Boswell's trilogy and the first to give readers the chance to read Micah from his POV. I adore Micah. He's trying to do the right thing, trying to solidify his identity and reconcile if that identity is automatically locked into his status as a demon. I love the way Boswell captures the male voice - it's a great book. ...more

I wholeheartedly believe this series is a hidden gem that many YA urban fantasy lovers are missing out on. I love this series so much! The first book was wonderful (read my review here) but this book blew it out of the water!

This installment begins with Hope and Micah both struggling with their current status in the world of angels and demons. Both Micah and Hope are struggling to figure out a way for Micah to surv

Micah and Hope are fighters. Fighting for the same thing... each other. But in Mythology The Wicked forces beyond them work to rip apart everything they have fought to keep. Secrets become revealed, secrets are kept and decisions are made. Either way everything changes.

Micah battles his true nature everyday, refusing to give into the darkness that grows within. The darkness that literally kills him with every breath. But Micah is a fighter. Determined to live his life by a very high moral code.

The second book in the Mythology series continues pretty much where book one finished. Micah and Hope are together, but Micah is having to fight his instincts every step of the way, which has an impact on how he and Hope are. She is supportive in every sense, but she can't fight every battle for him. Things are not easy for them both though, either at school or in their personal lives. They both have choices to make and things to do, which will lead them in differing ways. Will they be able to w ...more

Boswell delivers such a great sequel with The Wicked! Micah and Hope find themselves pulled deeper into the world of guardians and demons, but there is something out there that seems to be watching their every move. Hope discovers an encouraging twist to her new found guardian status, and Micah gets to see another realm of the Earth. Both have more growing to do in this cleverly woven tale of young adult literature. *eagerly awaits more demon love*

Wow. I nearly cried a few times in reading this book (unusual for me) and now I desperately want the next one. The Wicked is a wonderful sequel, one that pushes the characters, world and story further. Well-written and engrossing. Absolutely loved it.

Okay, so when I read the first book in this series, what I really loved about it was how action packed it was. Or so I thought until I read THIS ONE. Holly God, but Mythology: The Wicked never gave me a break. Even though it took me about two weeks to finish this book, I was never bored, I was just busy with school which is a pain in the butt (we have a different system than the US so our high school is more like college). I started out reading Helen’s New Adult series, and then she was kind enough to provide me with a copy of The Wicked which is technically book two in her Young Adult series, but said it would make more sense to read this one first. I was blown away with Helen’s writing in her NA series, but I didn’t quite get the same amazing feeling I got from my first experience of her writing.

This isn’t to say that The Wicked isn’t well written. Helen has amazing talent no matter how you want to look at it. I

The Wicked is the 2nd book in Helen Boswell’s Guardians Series. This is sweet series showcasing the love between two characters that should be mortal enemies based on their secret “talents” but refuse to believe they aren’t meant for one another. They are making the best of their situation, despite major obstacles.

Micah is still fighting becoming an evil demon. He and Hope believe that he is and can continue to be a “good” demon. They are being faced with more and more tests and challenges ever

Micah may be a demon but the last thing he wants to do is hurt anyone he loves. He fights on the side of good and tries his best to resist temptation. He may just have to turn to his darker side if he is to survive. Hope only wants to protect those she loves. She may be in danger though as it seems she has more power than even she knows and it could be the downfall of many. Micah and Hope find themselves in the middle of danger as everything they have ever known is questioned and they aren't sur ...more

I truly LOVED "Mythology" but "The Wicked" blew me away beyond words. The emotional growth Micah suffered was excruciating. His limits were tested to their breaking point and he walked the line between "good" and "evil" more than once. There were times Micah didn't know if he would be able to hold back the darkness that constantly threatened to consume him. What saved him? Hope, he knew she was his light, his goodness the best part of him, his future. Micah isn't the carefree teenager he was in ...more

The Wicked boasts solid writing and strong editing. Not a word is wasted. All characters are highly developed and the story grows deeper and more complex with each page. Every chapter is filled with adventure and romance.

After the events in Mythology, Hope slowly adjusts to her new life. Then a new force arrives, throwing off her fragile equilibrium, threatening to completely destroy everything she cares about. Micah's life is also upended as events cause a downward spiral throwing him further i

I did not like this book as much as the first. I loved Hope and Micah's chemistry and they just weren't together enough in this book. Micah made strange deals with ominous beings. Took on power he did not know how to control and kept secrets from Hope that he had no business keeping. Hope was on a relentless search to save Micah's soul, without his blessing and even after he told her not to. She seemed less of a heroine in this book and more of the girl who keeps getting in the way. Pathetic alm ...more

First of all let me say that I LOVED this book! There are not many sequels that I love, but this one I do! It was nice to read the different POV's. Even though I was frustrated with some of the character's, and I wanted to yell at them. I still love them no matter what, even if I don't agree with what they are doing. If you love the first book Mythology, then you will love this one!

Be prepared for the roller coaster of emotions. Can't wait for the next book!

Helen Boswell loved to get lost in the pages of a story from the time she could sound out the words. Originally from upstate New York, Helen spent much of her early adult life tromping around Buffalo, NYC, Toronto, and Las Vegas, those cities now serving as inspiration for the dark and gritty urban backdrops of her stories. An author of both urban fantasy and contemporary romance, Helen loves to r ...more
