In a recent interview he reveals…
The sites earn about $5k a month through a mix of affiliates, sponsorships, and advertising.
It took about 4 years for me to achieve this level, but since then, I’ve had 5-figure months as well.
Sean started out as a travel blogger because…
I thought, “Hey, who wouldn’t want free stays and some extra bucks while doing what they love—traveling?” Turns out, I was clueless about how to make that happen.
And so he struggled at first…
My first attempts at blogging were about as successful as a penguin trying to fly. But then fate introduced me to some successful travel bloggers in a random small town in Guatemala.
After soaking up their knowledge like a sponge and applying some of the strategies, my blog began to gain traction and started taking off, and eventually reached Mediavine.

Since then, it has allowed me to travel full-time and share my travel experiences as I continue to explore the world!
So things changed for Sean once he met and hung out with people who’d already achieved the success he was aiming for.
I’d highly recommend trying that yourself 
If you can’t do it in person, do it online. Build real relationships with those people, get on calls with them, maybe form a mastermind.
After Sean started seeing success with his first site…
Then came along The Turkey Traveler and Travel Thailand Together, my joint ventures with my business partner. We absolutely adored these two countries, and we wanted to help others fall in love with them, too.
In terms of growing the sites…
I’d have to say it’s SEO. It’s simply the best way to drive organic traffic to my sites. But there’s more to just SEO for getting organic traffic.
How Sean thinks about failure…
My most significant accomplishment as an entrepreneur has been redefining my relationship with failure. It’s no longer a dead-end or a sign of defeat for me. Instead, I see it as a stepping stone towards success.

There’s two of us. It’s a $1.7 million business, hardly any overhead at all.
Apparently it’s David’s email list that powers the business…
I feel like I could rebuild anything I wanted if I had that. I guess that’s because I have this relationship with these, at the moment, it’s 13,000 people that get a weekly email from me.
Whatever I wanted to do, I could do it as long as I could tell those people what I’m doing…
it’s also the one thing that I’ve been doing for almost 30 years, even before there were email service providers, is doing that weekly email.
David’s approach…
Let’s say I go to a website, and something intrigues me, and I kind of want to read this .pdf they’re promising me.
But I know that nine times out of 10, I’m gonna be disappointed, and that I’m going to be dropped into some stream, or they’ll try to convert me to something else.
It just annoys me! So I just don’t do that to people.
And he likes to take it slow…
I’ve been doing it for many years. I love helping people. I’m going to keep giving away what I hope is useful content.
And if you need to talk with me next week, or 10 years from now, that’s totally fine. I want to wait until you really need me.
He adds…
If you look at the growth of my email list, it seems somewhat like a failure, as it’s been around for two and a half, three decades, and it’s only 13,000. But it’s more about the quality of the list than it is the quantity.
Only 13,000 people, but through the relationships he’s built with his subscribers, the business does $1.7 million in annual revenue 
Goes to show that you don’t need a big audience to earn big money.
Especially if you’re focused on providing value and willing to play the long game.

Single Mom With Chronic Illness Earning $4500/Month

Per a recent interview, she left her corporate job in May 2021 and now earns ~$4.5K/month.
Origin story…
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease shortly after my mum passed away when I was 20 years old…
Soon after, Sarah’s father hired a life coach to help her stay on track…
Some of the first things that I started to work on with my life coach were how to prioritize my to-do list, and how to schedule my workload.
We created study schedules for my third year of university; the workload for pharmacy was intense and I was studying most weeks during term-time in addition to my classes.
She taught me how to prioritize my tasks, thinking ahead about how much time I realistically had and making sure I had a balance of work and play.
And so Sarah got quite good at managing her time. She later became a single parent, which took her time management skills to the next level 
She left her corporate job during the pandemic and was training to be a life coach herself…
The lightbulb moment came when I was on a Zoom call with some of my peers that I had trained with when I suddenly realized that I should be leveraging my strengths, skills, and knowledge from my corporate career as well as my lived experience and I very quickly niched into time management at this point. It felt very natural to make this pivot.
From discussions with multiple people from all walks of life… managing time seems to be a common struggle. When I meet new people and mention that I am in the niche of time management… the most common response is “I’m so rubbish with my time, I could benefit from your help”.
Sarah monetizes in a few ways
Sarah says about the cohort course, priced at £1499…
I have successfully launched this program four times over the last two years, where I’ve delivered the material to cohorts of no more than 15 people.
She adds…
The business is profitable, and I achieve this through multiple income streams including coaching, consulting, workshops, and events.
To date, I have served 121 customers, and my lifetime revenue is $150k. Each month the number of customers I work with varies, but I can work with 5 coaching and/or consulting clients alongside those that join my program during a launch (no more than 20 in a cohort).
My average monthly revenue is currently $4,500.
Sarah’s approach to marketing…
I decided to play the long game with my marketing, placing a strong focus from the beginning on blogging and email marketing. The majority of my customers have been on my mailing list, where I provide value each week with my [news]letter.
Sounds like she doesn’t have a huge audience either. Instagram looks like her most popular channel, with about 5100 followers

the more organised I am in my home life, the easier it is in my work life.
True: if your personal life is a mess, it’s hard to focus on work.

The site earns well over 5 figures every month and my latest hosting bill is still only around $20 [per month].
Update: Right after publishing this story, Jason told us via email that the site has averaged $25,000 per month in revenue over the past 12 months.
It all started back in 2006, when…
A freelancer sent me an email in ALL CAPS and I needed it in the normal case, so I built a prototype in around an hour rather than retyping it all.
Jason has added more tools to the site over the years, so it’s no longer just a case formatting site.

I try to add a new tool around once a month and continue to invest in SEO and content optimisation. The site continues to grow.
As for monetization…
The site started off ad free, but once traffic started picking up, Adsense was added. I’ve since migrated to a header bidding solution and try to recover adblocked traffic too as much as possible.

Stefano has quite the rags to riches story…
I was born in Venezuela in the ‘90s and grew up in a wealthy family that became poor due to a lot of circumstances…
In 2017, after another failure in business due to the country’s complex financial challenges, I had no choice but to leave Venezuela under very precarious conditions, only with 400 euros and a bag.
I went to Italy, to the house of a cousin who offered to host me for three months, yet after barely eight days, they kicked me out, and that’s how my life in the “first world” started.
Sleeping on the beach, broke, and using a restaurant’s former toilet as a storage room.
That led him to Spain…
where I played poker for a living until I found my first job as a sales agent for an online broker.
That’s how I entered the financial space for the first time…
I was a teenager, I researched and read non-stop about forex, stocks, and trading overall, just out of a passion to learn about it.
After working a year in sales, Stefano switched to customer support…
So I could get a relocation package benefit and move to the island of Cyprus, where I thought I could find better opportunities.
One evening as I worked answering customers’ live chat questions, I thought to myself, “Someone should make a course or some resources that are truly beginner-oriented so people stop asking all of these silly questions.”
He researched and found that…
There were no high-quality beginner resources that could actually help people learn about finance and trading…
I bought the domain in February 2019 and parked it until September, when I launched my first basic HTML pages.
When creating content for the site…
I never used a keyword research tool to do any of this; I used knowledge. Nowadays I would do it differently for sure, but that was my experience at that time.
I started writing articles about whatever I thought wasn’t covered in finance. Answers to questions about forex trading, broker reviews, etc.
Monetization…
We didn’t make money from people; we made money from companies. It was a B2B business. Brokers would pay us to advertise on our site.
Instead of focusing on a high volume of traffic, we focused on ranking for specific high-value, high-intent keywords.
And…
All of our traffic was from search engines. SEO was the core of the business.
The strategy was simple: write content in the finance space and make sure that it’s high-intent articles for long tail keywords and also geo-targeted, to ensure the highest chance of ranking.
Ultimately, Sefano’s success boiled down to him realizing there was a gap in a niche he was interested in.
He set about creating helpful content that he couldn’t find elsewhere.

$40,000 Per Month From Her Little Membership

Best I can tell, Liz has only been running this membership for a couple of years – the first archive of her sales page is from Nov 2022 – and yet it apparently pulled in $500,000 in revenue last year alone
How it all started, via a recent interview…
She had just signed a huge copywriting contract worth $20,000… her biggest one yet. But instead of excitement, all she felt was dread about the massive project she now had to take on.
And as a single mom, she knew the importance of creating a business that would support her lifestyle and allow her to be present for her family.
Then….
An idea hit her: by selling her “sawdust”—those newsletter templates she made—she could solve a recurring problem for her audience in a recurring way. All while minimizing her time investment…
She got the idea from helping clients one-on-one and seeing the problems they usually have with email marketing.
Liz already had an email list of 800 people…
You know, relatively small, not a lot, but not a little.
So she leveraged that…
She sent [her subscribers] an email with the subject line, “Can I have $9?” and shared her goal of reaching 100 members in 30 days.
“I’m gonna send you a newsletter template every single week. It’s $9. If you’ve been on my email list for a while, you know my stuff is awesome. So why not join?”
This strategy of public accountability created a sense of urgency and excitement around the launch, and within 28 days, Liz hit her first 100 members!
To get even more people on board…
She decided to create an affiliate program to incentivize sharing. Offering 50% recurring commissions on every $9 membership was lucrative enough to drive strong promotion.
After only 3 months, she grew to 700 members with the help of these affiliate partnerships.
Black Friday sales also helped add more members.
And now…
Liz’s membership sits at around 4,500 active members.
At $9 per person that = $40,500 per month or $486,000 per year
Liz mentions she offers an “annual pass” as well.
Considering the discounts and affiliate payouts, I suspect she might be earning more like $25,000 per month in actual profit.

Quiz For Daughter’s Birthday Led to $287K/Month Business

In a recent interview, Stefan reveals that Pointerpro is currently doing $287K/month in revenue
The origin story…
I founded Pointerpro in 2012. At that time, I was working as a consultant and I felt it was time for something new.
It all started with a creative idea I had for the birthday of my daughter.
For fun, I created an iPad Quiz for her birthday. After completing the quiz, contestants didn’t just receive their results but also got pictures, videos, and fun trivia about my daughter.
People liked it so much that Stefan put the app online for free…
…and it gained popularity very quickly. I started interviewing the users to see what they were using the software for and noticed that I could build an entire business model around this app.
And…
We had a couple of hundred users on the free version and the goal was to convert a number of them to the paying version. That’s how it went from a free to a paying product.
After launch…
I reached out to bloggers who wrote about iPad apps or new software innovations and I asked them if they could include the launch of my product in a special dedicated blog post or on their social media. I think in those days it was easier than now, but a lot of them responded positively!
I remember even being on mashable.com, which was a big internet news site at that time. We had a lot of traction from that publication. Maybe it was beginner’s luck but it gave us a traffic boost in the beginning.
In terms of marketing…
We engage actively in SEO, link building, networking with relevant communities, and other “free” strategies…
But we also make use of paid solutions such as Google Ads and software review sites like Capterra or G2. A good marketing mix is essential for the growth of your business.
I love how Stefan’s little project turned into a big business.
He made a fun quiz about his daughter and it evolved into a $3.4 million a year enterprise

Couch flipping has changed my life and is so simple to do. If you have a truck you can pick up unwanted couches from Facebook and offer up and as long as you know what to look for in these couches secure massive profits for them by offering free delivery.
The important bit here is “unwanted couches”, which means people are wanting to sell it off for cheap as soon as possible, or even give it away for free.
You basically find such deals on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, snap them up and then resell online for a profit

It’s a business model anyone can do that has a truck and ambition. I do this part time when I want to pick up couches, I run a carpet cleaning business full time. But couches make more.

I CONSISTENTLY sell 4-5 couches a week at 500$ profits sometimes even more. And this is working part time. I’m definitely able to make it work, doing it Solo.
So it’s not the most scalable business and obviously a big part of it is offline, but it sounds like $10,000 monthly profit is doable if you live in a decent-sized metropolitan area and execute well
