Elopement Matchmaking Service: $1.4M in Bookings in Year 3

Janessa WhiteCo-founder of Simply Eloped $1.4 Million bookings in year 3

Simply Eloped is a marketplace site that connects couples with venues and vendors for elopements or small weddings

Founded by Janessa White and Matt Dalley in 2016, the business recently sold for an undisclosed sum.

They Got Acquired has some numbers…

The business brought in $40,000 in bookings in its first year, $300,000 the following year and $1.4 million in year three, White told Hampton. By 2021, she’d built an $8-million business, according to Bootstrappers.

I suspect that last number refers to gross volume

Unclear what kind of cut Simply Eloped takes from each booking.

Janessa also told Hampton in 2023…

To date, we haven’t been an incredibly profitable company but I can proudly say this is the first year we’ll be turning that corner.

They must have received a good offer to end up selling only a year later

And while marketplaces are a tough business due to the chicken-and-egg problem, it’s worth considering what other niches this could work for.

However…

You don’t need loads of followers to succeed. My first Kickstarter was funded with less than 1,000 followers on Instagram.

Released His Game on Steam: $18,766 Revenue in 3 Weeks

DrazglbIndie Game Developer $18,766 revenue in 3 weeks

Drazglb is an indie game developer from France who launched this game on Steam back in October.

About a month later, he reported on Reddit that the game had sold 1252 units in the first 3 weeks.

From that…

I got a total [revenue] of $18,766.54

But after chargebacks, taxes, revenue share, exchange rate, etc…

the actual net revenue will probably be something like 9814€

Works out to about $10,214.

Drazglb says it was his first Steam game, but looks like the game was available in other formats since 2020.

As for marketing…

I did most of the job sharing stuff on Twitter, a bit on some Discord servers, and more recently here on Reddit since a few weeks before launch…

I also launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in November 2020, which helped a lot at the time.

€23,178 raised from that Kickstarter.

Goes to show that it’s possible to earn good money as an indie game developer.

Bought a Domain for $0, Sold it 4 Months Later for $1937

Reza TaheriDomain Flipper $4514 revenue in 9 months

Reza Taheri explains how in this video…

He bought these domains in December 2023…

Nabbed them both from , where you can get these TLDs free for the first year…

.co.uk.uk.org.uk

Reza listed both his domains for sale on dan.com in March 2024.

A month later, he received an offer to buy the first domain.

After commissions, he earned $1452.

(He covers in the video how he could have saved almost $200 in commission fees if he’d made a simple change.)

Reza has since gone on to sell 2 more domain names, bringing his total revenue to $4514 in about 9 months.

He has some good tips for domain flipping in the second half of his video, ending with…

Flipping domains isn’t a get-rich-quick  scheme. You need to have patience and consistency. 

Sometimes, it may take months  before you sell your first domain. However, once you get the hang of it, you can build  a nice stream of income.
