We started with reddit organic and made a few thousand dollars as validation, then our co-founder (Connor) fronted $3k out of pocket to pay for Christian content creators on Instagram to advertise our app and we turned $3k->$35k.

Then at the 8:00 mark Erik shows his own earnings, which appear to come from an MLM supplement company called LiveGood…

This is not a guarantee of income, my results are not typical, but they are achievable to anyone who takes this business seriously…

Here’s my earnings. Right now, every single month, I’m getting about $16,000 and my team’s growing around the world.

I’m in a company that’s growing in 200 countries. It is growing with or without me at this point. That is the sweet spot in MLM…

Not making any guarantees but this is the best passive income I’ve ever seen online… I don’t have to work anymore, my team’s over 200,000 members in Asia, in Spain, in Mexico, you name it.

Given the structure of MLM, Erik must be earning more than any of those 200,000 people under him.

Which goes to show that only MLMers who get in early and recruit a critical mass of people to join their team are earning significant income.

Wikipedia’s explanation of MLM…

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also called network marketing or pyramid selling, is a controversial and sometimes illegal marketing strategy for the sale of products or services in which the revenue of the MLM company is derived from a non-salaried workforce selling the company’s products or services, while the earnings of the participants are derived from a pyramid-shaped or binary compensation commission system.

Participants of traditional offline MLMs, such as Mary Kay or Tupperware, usually focus on in-person sales and recruitment.

(Ever heard of a Tupperware party?)

But there is a growing online element to multi-level marketing as well, with participants using digital marketing techniques to make sales and recruit new people.

There have been a number of studies and investigations into the earnings of MLM participants – Wikipedia has a handy list – and frankly they’re all quite discouraging.

The most recent, large-scale MLM income report I found was a 2018 survey by Magnify Money.

They surveyed 1,049 MLM participants and these were their key takeaways…

The hourly earnings of those surveyed worked out to a paltry $0.67 per hour…

Given that and many similar studies, I’d highly recommend steering clear of MLMs as a way to make money online.

He’s Won More Than $12 Million Playing Poker

João VieiraProfessional Poker Player $54,358 winnings from 1 online poker tournament

João Vieira is a professional poker player.

He participates in poker tournaments – both online and offline – and wins prize money if he performs well enough.

Online he plays poker using the nickname Naza114.

This video shows João in action during a live poker tournament:

As of this writing, the Hendon Mob poker database list’s João’s “total live earnings” as $12.2 million.

However, for the purposes of this profile I’m focusing on João’s earnings from playing poker online.

The same database shows that João has won $100,000’s via online poker tournaments over the years.

And in September 2024 he took home $54,358 in prize money from the World Championship of Online Poker.

Also, since 2018, Vieira has been sponsored by the online poker room Winamax (source).

The terms of that sponsorship are unclear. But from what I’ve read online, it seems many pro poker sponsorship deals involve an annual cash payment to the player, a budget for tournament buy-ins, and perhaps even performance bonuses.

Highlights…

João is a former professional basketball player, having played 7 years for his hometown team in Madeira, Portugal.João started playing poker with his basketball teammates, presumably in his mid- to late-teens.João then began participating in online tournaments. He had some success with those, and began entering offline tournaments as well.In December of 2011, at only 22 years of age, João dropped out of university to work full-time playing poker.In August 2012, he won more than $60,000 playing in live poker tournaments in Barcelona (source).

He’s Earned $28,160 From This Automated Investment Platform

JonghoYouTuber $28,160 earnings via Betterment

A YouTuber named Jongho recently reported on his progress with Betterment…

He describes Betterment as…

a robo-advisor platform that basically invests money for you in return for a small management fee. It uses algorithms to consider your personal factors like age, risk tolerance, and creates a tailored Investment portfolio for you

Jongho started investing with Betterment in 2016.

His results 8 years later, when he made the above video…

$64,525 invested$28,160 earned

But Jongho notes that the graph doesn’t always go smoothly up and to the right…

You might have less money than you put in at different times. Case in point, for me at least, was March 2020… I had invested $35,000 for the last 3.5 years and then boom I’m down $6455.

Despite that, and given Jongho’s results overall, it’s definitely worth considering using a robo-advisor like Betterment if you want to be hands-off with your investments.
