Portland, Ohio Experiencer Realizes She Encountered MOTHMAN!

A Portland, Ohio woman recalls her encounter with a mysterious winged cryptid that she eventually released may have been a Mothman after watching 'The Mothman Prophecies' film.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I guess I'll just jump into this story that I've only revealed to a few people. My extended family mostly lives along Old River Road (Rt 124) in Portland, Ohio. I practically grew up there and spent entire summers there as a youth. It was and remains a special place for me as I loved exploring the areas.

My aunt and uncle live on a hill overlooking the Ohio River and we have fished that area forever. I take groups of buddies every summer and we camp on their lower land and spend the night fishing. Some of us just go for the drinking and fun. There are all sorts of little gravel roads around that area and I know them all.

One evening, two friends and I decided to go walking. One of my friends hadn't had anything to drink but he chose to come along. We were just being loud and laughing since we were literally in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly I caught a light out the corner of my eye and off in the distance was what looked like a house with every light on. I was totally confused and my friends had no idea what I was talking about because it's just a house. There is no house there. As we were walking closer to the "house" something appeared 20 feet in front of us. We only looked at it for a moment before we all turned and ran full blast back to the campsite. In the light of day, I drove down the gravel road we were on and there was no house anywhere in sight as I already knew.

Some months later, a different friend brought a Mothman movie (The Mothman Prophecies) to my house to watch. Surprisingly, I had never heard of the Mothman. I was almost panic-stricken knowing this was the thing I saw. I immediately called my friend who was with me and told him to go rent that movie. He eventually called me back almost in hysterics after watching that movie. This happened almost 18 years ago and I still think about it at least once a day. I've never shared this account with anyone online and I'll assure you this really did happen." D

Retired Tarrant County Deputy Sheriff Reports SHOOTING RED LASER-LIKE BEAMS & LOSS OF POWER!

A retired Tarrant County, Texas Deputy Sheriff reported an incident that he had with shooting red laser-like beams. He lost power to his truck and cell phone. What happened?

I received the following account from an inquiry:

"At the time, I was a retired deputy sheriff from Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas. In November 2001 I was driving on my way to work early in the morning on Highway 377. I left Granbury, Texas, and was entering the city of Benbrook, Texas. To my right, at the Wills Ranch, I saw a light source on the ground near large power lines. It was shooting red laser beams in the air.

I had WBAP AM radio on waiting for the news. Suddenly the announcer asked if anyone had seen strange lights near Benbrook to please call the station. I called the station and started explaining what I was witnessing. Suddenly as I was talking on live radio I was hit by some type of energy. It felt like warm syrup pouring on my head and going all the way to my feet.

The weird part is my Silverado pick-up suddenly lost all power. The electrical system shut down. My cell phone went dead. I had to coast to the side of the highway and stop. I checked my watch to see if I had lost any time. I felt very tired and paralyzed. I could not continue my conversation with the announcer. Before this happened the announcer asked what else I had seen. I told him I saw a high-winged single-engine airplane flying very near the light source. The announcer said this was their spotter plane.

About 20 minutes later I was able to start my truck. My cell phone came back on so I continued to my daily briefing at work. Other deputies met me and laughed about me seeing a UFO. I never mentioned a UFO, only a light source.

That afternoon I called WBAP radio station and asked if they found out what the light source was. They didn't know but said several people had called to report the same thing I saw. The incident was never in the newspaper. For some reason, it had to be a secret. To this day I have never been able to find out what this was."

The LaCROSSE, WISCONSIN MAN-BAT Encounters

The state of Wisconsin has become a particular area of concentration for me, thanks to the late Linda Godfrey's cryptid investigations and the submissions by the fantastic readers at 'Phantoms and Monsters'. The following accounts describe another strange creature from Wisconsin:

This encounter happened on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, on Briggs Road near LaCrosse, Wisconsin around 9:30 pm to a 53-year-old resident who prefers to be known only by his Cherokee name, Wohali, and the man's 25-year-old son. The creature they encountered was 6-7 feet tall with batlike, leathery wings with a span of 10-12 feet, long claws on its feet and hands, and a snarling expression on its face. It flew towards their windshield, stared at them, and swooped upwards into the night sky.

The creature "screamed" at them before sailing straight up into the air. Wohali stated that he did not know whether the creature had been on the road and then bounced up at them, or if it had been flying at the time it came at their car. He was sure the thing was a physical, actual creature, he said, but like nothing he had ever seen before. Their reaction? Immediate illness. In seconds, both became physically ill and the son, who was driving, swerved and then pulled the truck over into the ditch so he could vomit. The son, who wishes his identity kept private, vomited six or seven times. Wohali retched, as well, and both remained sick for an entire week. The son was so frightened by the encounter that he refuses to discuss it. But Wohali told me he feels it's important for people to "know what is out there."

Wohali also described seeing "distended ribs, long sort of human legs with claws, huge bat-like wings with 'arms' sort of attached, I remember the teeth and the scream we heard was terrifying."

Wohali’s account and his sincerity convinced Godfrey that he had a “credible sighting” of something she had not heard described before. “He certainly has nothing to gain by making it up” — or talking about it, she said. “He believes the more he talks about it, the more power it gives the creature.”

Godfrey said she feels it is important that somebody record these experiences. The Man-Bat of Briggs Road ranks right up there as far as notable weird experiences.

“I do think this sighting that Wohali had is an extremely interesting and exciting sighting,” Godfrey said. “I do think it should have some serious consideration given to it.”

There was another similar entity reported when a man and boy were searching for a lost dog. "They saw what they described as a 'lizard man' covered in brownish scales and very reptilian-looking. It did not have its mouth open or arms extended". Around the same time, a state DNR warden and separately, a group of highway workers saw what they described as a 'reptile man' on Hwy. 13 near Medford. It also possessed wings and was able to fly out of their view. The Medford spot was very near the Black River which winds up from LaCrosse!"

NOTE: Since these sightings, some people have suggested that this creature may have been a Mothman who appeared previous to several mysterious drownings in the LaCrosse area. Could these sightings have been related to the Chicago/Lake Michigan Mothman phenomenon? Lon

UNEXPLAINED ENCOUNTERS While Living Near SKINWALKER RANCH

A listener recalled an incident that he and his family experienced while living at their ranch near the Skinwalker Ranch property in northeast Utah. Very strange incident!

I received the following account:

"Hi, Lon. I happened to listen to an older interview you had about the Skinwalker Ranch and some of the strange things that have been known to occur there. I have been familiar with the general area for quite a long time. I lived near Roosevelt, Utah when I was a boy. My family owned land south of town. I suppose we lived about 3 or 4 miles from the current Skinwalker Ranch and Bottle Hollow. This was during the 1950s before the reservoir was built in the hollow.

Sometimes we'd look east at night and see weird lights coming from the hollow area. One night I remember watching a ball of bright white light with a long tail moving along the eastern horizon then reverse course and go back the other way. My father called it a 'spirit light' and said he would see many in one night when he was a boy.

The most shocking and memorable incident I experienced happened on my 12th birthday which was in September 1959. Our family was sitting out behind the house enjoying the evening. We had a small party earlier and the last guest had just left. I had received a refracting telescope as a gift from my parents and I was eager to try it out. The sky was clear and full of stars that evening. As I scoured the sky I heard what sounded like men talking. The sound was coming from the gully on the east end of our land. As I listened I noticed my father walking towards me. He had a very fearful look on his face like he had seen a ghost or something.

All of a sudden there was a loud 'whoop' sound and then another. I looked back toward the gully and was shocked to see 3 tall white human-like figures. The only description I can give is that they were very thin with long arms and legs. Their heads were human but looked more animal-like as we watched. They were standing still and looking directly at my father and me with shining black eyes. Then the one on the right raised its left arm and pointed in the direction of the hollow (the area near the current Skinwalker Ranch). My father yelled out, 'Leave us be' and the figures crouched to the ground and disappeared.

When we got in the house my father and mother sat me down at the kitchen table and told me that these were spirits of dead Ute warriors who were killed by the Spanish and buried in the hollow. They also said that these spirits protected the sacred native lands and used magic from the heavens to scare their enemies. My parents were very aware of these traditions even though they were not Native American. As I grew older, I started to realize that we know very little about the spiritual world and that we know less about the people who lived before us.

The radio show was extremely informative and I will continue to tune in." J

It Was the MOST INCREDIBLE THING I've Ever Witnessed!

A couple were at home relaxing when they observed a beach ball-sized glowing orb suspended in front of the patio door. It eventually stretches into a tube-like object.

I received the following account:

"Love the site. Please feel free to publish this Lon. True story.

I witnessed an event in my home that to this day I simply have no plausible explanation for.

I have always wanted to write to you and tell this story to find out if others may have seen what I have witnessed.

It is something that is never far from my mind and has left me with no plausible explanation or answer, other than my personal belief that there are in fact things in this world that can not be understood or explained. I believe I witnessed something that few people have or ever will see or encounter in this world or possibly even the next.

A few years ago now my wife and I and our family cat were all sitting together relaxing in our living room watching the TV. The cat was directly in front of me sitting on our coffee table and my wife was to my right sitting in our living room chair. It was a quiet and uneventful evening.

Our patio door was open and there was no breeze that I could feel coming in through the open door.

I then noticed our cat turn her head, look in the direction of the patio door, and stare at something. I glanced over at my wife and noticed she too had also noticed the cat was looking at something and she had also turned her head in the direction the cat was looking. In turn, I also turned my head to see what it was that had caught their attention and that is when I saw it.

We all saw it, and we stared, just looking at this thing.

There in the living room about a foot in front of the open patio door was this ball or circular mass about the size of a beach ball. It was made up of what appeared to be literally thousands upon thousands of interwoven pieces of what looked like smoke that resembled string. Each piece of this 'smoke' or 'string' was turning, twisting, and undulating in every possible direction all within this ball, weaving intricately in and out of itself and in some type of what looked like an organized pattern. There were colors of grey, white, and black all moving at the same time and all in different circular directions, almost like a giant ball of string, but each piece moved at the same speed and together almost like a machine.

It was like something out of a science fiction movie right there in our living room, but it was far more complex and intricate than any special effects I have ever seen. It was mesmerizing and hypnotizing. I found myself drawn to it, staring and just trying to wrap my mind around exactly what it was I was seeing, at the same time attempting to rationalize it and place it into some understandable category. We sat there staring speechless as it continued to float, weaving and turning. It gave me the feeling that the object was somehow alive and very intelligent, possibly even self-aware.

It just sat there 4 feet or so off the floor undulating, twisting and turning, weaving in and around itself, just hovering there almost like it knew we saw it but didn't seem to care. It did this for over 40 seconds or more, then almost as if it was pleased that we had now seen it, it stretched itself out into a long approx. 8-foot cylindrical grey tube and then left the room at an extremely high rate of speed, then it was gone.

It had been watching us. It had been aware of us.

I asked my wife, "Did you just see that?" She said, "Yes, what was that?"

I asked her to describe what she had seen so I could be sure that we had seen the same thing and that her account was exactly the same as mine. We, including the cat, had all seen this thing.

I have searched the internet looking for pictures that may describe what we may have seen, but have never been able to find anything like it.

Was it a spirit? Was it a drone of some kind or an entity from another dimension?

I don't believe we will ever know but it makes you think what things may possibly exist in this world that we have never been taught about and it makes me wonder where they come from and why they may be here. It was the most incredible thing I have ever witnessed." L

Bizarre SHAPESHIFTING WINGED CRYPTID Reported in Reedley, California

A family is in the backyard one night in Reedley, California when they observe an unexplained, almost translucent winged being. The being seemed to shapeshift while they watched it.

I received the following account:

"It was July of 2012 and I was at my sister's house in Reedley, CA (Fresno County, California - San Joaquin Valley). This is in a residential neighborhood. There is a river that is very close by which is right next to the cemetery. Everyone was inside getting ready for bed and I was in the backyard with my son. We were sitting having a conversation about life and looking up into the night sky. I have to admit that I'm the type of person that is always looking up in the sky to try and find UFOs. But this night I was just relaxing looking upward.

My son was talking and then all of a sudden in my right peripheral vision I saw what I thought was a bird flying down towards the both of us. It looked like it had its "wings" spread open like it was about to land. There is a big palm-like tree in the distance and in my mind, I thought it was an owl. These thoughts were quick. I turned my head in the direction of the thing to get a better look at it. What I saw was a translucent bird-like object. It was light in color. The translucence reminded me of a jellyfish. I stood up and yelled out, "What the hell is that!" We both stood up and my son yelled out "Where, where?" I said right there and pointed to the thing. It was about 30 feet off of the ground. He finally caught a glimpse of it and said, "What is that?" I kept asking "You see that right? What is that?" Over and over. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. After we stood up, the thing banked to its right. Then you could see it from its side. It looked like it was gliding.

The backyard we were in was fenced in all the way around. There are no alleys in the neighborhood so your neighbors are right over the fence. The thing glided around the perimeter of the fence and flew over the neighbor back backyard. The neighbor was directly behind my sister's yard. The really weird thing during this was it looked like it was changing shapes as it went in different directions. Like I said before, when I first saw it it looked bird-like, then when it turned it looked like an oval shape. As it went over the back neighbor's yard it looked like something was hanging off its "wings" or sides. It was almost like ragged wings. My son thought it looked like the way a bat looked like you could see a skeleton in the wings. The further it flew it looked like an oval shape. The whole time the color and translucence stayed the same.

Honestly, after the whole thing happened I thought I saw what people describe as a witch. Like a ghost witch. This thing was definitely there. We saw something. The wing span must have been about 10-15 feet wide." D

NOTE: this flying being may be similar to the 'flying ray' phenomenon. The translucent qualities fit, though the shapeshifting is a bit different. Again, this was also near water (Kings River). If anyone has had an encounter with a flying cryptid/humanoid, I'd appreciate a submission. Lon

Our Strange Neighbors, 'THE ODDS'

I occasionally receive an interesting 'strange neighbor' account, but the following submission from a reader is one of my favorites:

"Hi Lon - what are your thoughts on possible alien habitation among the human population? Please keep an open mind when reading my email.

I live in a moderate sized borough in Pennsylvania. I live in the same house where I grew up. In fact most of the neighborhood has remained the same for the past 20 years or so. This includes the family that lives across the street.

This family, who I refer to as the 'Odds', is not normal by any stretch of the imagination. There is the husband and wife who are in their seventies and their daughter (Carol) who is now my age, 52. They have lived there as long as I can remember. Carol and I went to school together though we barely knew each other. She was very attractive though I never recall her ever having a boyfriend (or girlfriend).

Her parents maintain a very nice house and seem to get along quite well together. In fact Carol and her parents are always a trio. They are never seen separate. They do not go to church and are not involved in any civic activities. But this isn't the strange part.

Every Spring since I can recall, they dig up a huge hole in the backyard. It's in the same location every year. The size I estimate is about 15 x 10 foot and about 4 foot deep. As soon as the hole is dug they cover it with a huge tarp that is staked into the ground around the perimeter. It remains like that for two days, then it is quickly filled in and topped with new turf. Every year! It's almost like a harbinger of Spring...the Odds are digging the hole!

The Odds don't talk to anyone. Never. Carol never talks to anyone. I have only heard her voice on a few occasions and that was when we were in class together and she'd be answering the teacher. I attempted to talk to her a few months ago during the holidays and she simply looked at me, smiled and said nothing. I have never heard her parents say anything. That brings up another point, Carol doesn't look anything like her parents. She must be adopted or, as I suspect, something else is going on here.

I remember when I saw the movie 'The Truman Show'. That is the Odds. Everything stays the same. One Summer I took a photograph of a family member in our front lawn. In the background was the Odd's front yard and house. A few years later I was looking at the photograph and was amazed at how similar the house, shrubbery and flowers were at the present time! It looks like the flowers came up the same way a few years later!

They seem to follow a routine for each day of the week, but the one thing they do every morning is really strange. The three of them 'tour' the outside of the house. There are specific places on the perimeter of the house where they stop, hold hands in a circle and look into the sky. It's very strange because each time they perform this ritual I get a static feeling in the hands and feet. It affects my Mother the same way - even when we are not watching them and somewhere else!

There are other oddities as well. None of them has a job, no one ever visits and they get a lot of deliveries (it seems like everyday something comes).

I'm convinced that these 'people' are not entirely human. I know it sounds nutty but I'm not the only person in the town that thinks that something nefarious is going on with the Odds." JJ

Reader Submission: CONFRONTING AN ABOMINATION!

The group was plagued by a series of poignant hauntings as three of them came down with mysterious illnesses that triggered anomalous hallucinations and paranoia for months.

The following narrative was forwarded to me by a reader from the small nation of Brunei:

"A much-loved sport amongst fervent fans and football enthusiasts, this game has beckoned millions to its allegiance, dominating the world of sports on a global scale and in some cases apparently, captivating even the scariest of sorts. In this story, a group of friends journeyed back in time to relay their appalling tale, which they claim, occurred during a friendly match with fellow schoolmates at a random field in the district during the 1990s.

En route to their destination, the group cycled past a row of wooden houses and shops before reaching a wide stretch of road leading to the open field. Although the sun radiated its golden rays over the turf, a disturbing presence loomed in the dark shadows of the forests and seemed to drape the surroundings in a menacing façade. Wilted leaves cloaked the paved walkway as a decrepit rest house stood beside the precipice landscape. This didn’t bother the youngsters at all as they geared up to begin their much-awaited football match.

It started off as an exciting first-half but 15 minutes into the next round, the goalkeeper kept a wary glaze at the nearby electrical poles. The curious lot stared blankly at their only source of defence against a possible goal and threw the ball in his direction. “Azim, what are you staring at? Focus on the game otherwise, we’ll have to ‘belanja’ the other team if we lose!” Nazri said. The goalie simply nodded and laughed at the mild teasing but an evident fear loomed in his eyes.

As the game intensified, Daud, another player, skillfully maneuvered the ball in an attempt to strike for goal but before he could hit home, the striker dropped to his knees and twinge in pain. The others rushed to his aid and offered to escort him to the hospital but instead, Daud refused and opt to watch the game despite the untimely injury. While cheering on from the sidelines, he was taken aback by what seemed to be a piece of linen cloth dangling from one end of the electrical poles but dismissed it as nothing out of the ordinary. He occasionally diverted his attention back to the poles and was surprised to find that the ‘linen’ had shifted to another area. Only this time, it resembled a formidable ‘apparition’. His heart skipped a beat as he quickly glanced at the leaden sky. Darkness engulfed the skies as the sun took its leave over the horizon, radiating the last strokes of light, which resembled orange smears in the dusk, indicating that night was fast approaching. “It’s just my imagination. Must be the pain from my ankle,” Daud thought silently to himself and snubbed the idea of informing his friends about the strange sighting.

Both teams refused to surrender to defeat and before long, night had fallen. “Just one goal!” Razak playfully said as they jubilantly tried to win the match. Then, a striker from the opposing team attempted to make his mark but inexplicably smashed his volley into the nearby forest. The players stole quick glances at one another, indicating their refusal to retrieve the ball from the creepy terrain. One of their teammates, Ali, eventually volunteered to recover the object and immediately emerged from the woods after a few short seconds. “That was fast. So excited to win the game?” Nazri teased but his happy-go-lucky friend remained silent, a solemn look darkened his expression. The others simply shrugged off Ali’s ’sulky’ mood and thought the poor guy was fuming over recovering the ball earlier on.

As the match continued, Razak reinforced their attacking options and crossed for Ali to clip home the first goal but his teammate stood unresponsive to his gestures. Rage overwhelmed the defiant defender as he marched across the field to give Ali a piece of his mind. “If you’re angry over a small matter, don’t play. You’re just standing there like a statue! And why in the world do you reek of dead rats?” Razak shouted while covering his nose. Again, ‘Ali’ maintained his ‘poker face’. While the outburst transpired, Nazri tapped the furious defender on the shoulders and pointed toward the direction of the woods. Before them, their blithe comrade emerged from the dark shadows and ran hastily towards the others.

“Sorry guys. Took a while for me to find the ball,” Ali said nonchalantly. The players exchanged bewildered looks amongst themselves as their eyes searched the grounds for the ‘mysterious’ doppelganger and remained practically speechless at the bizarre ordeal. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Ali said, his eyebrows frowning at the uncanny glances around him. Daud limped towards the disorientated lot and disclosed the mysterious sighting he had spotted earlier on. Azim confirmed the bizarre incident for he too, caught a glimpse of the ‘entity’. “We had better leave. This isn’t a good sign,” Razak said. As they gathered their belongings, a ball ricocheted against the goalpost and into the field. It moved bafflingly across the turf on its own and suddenly came to an abrupt stop.

Out of the blue, it struck Razak on the face with a sturdy force as blood started oozing out from his nose. Fear paralysed the entire team instantaneously and they scurried from the premises, leaving behind all their belongings. The perplexed lot stared in amazement at Daud’s sudden vigor and agility for he zoomed past the rest despite his so-called ‘injury’. “I never ran so fast in my life. All I felt was numbness but was more concerned about the impending terror behind us,” Daud joked.

The scampering crowd came to a sudden stop as a ghostly apparition emerged from the forest and glided towards the players while clasping a child’s bloody hands in the other. They vaguely caught sight of its distorted face and some managed to make a run for it but the others panicked and remained solidly still. As it released a petrifying laugh, the entity moved toward Razak and stared at him intently with its bloodshot eyes.

The others summoned their inner strength and began reciting prayers to ward off the spirit. It took on a defensive stance and attempted to shatter their fortitude by disrupting the group’s unified chants. Its ear-piercing snarl sounded like a pack of wolves howling in the night but they kept their grit together till the ’spirit’ disappeared into thin air. The terrified lot nervously retreated to the exit, reciting prayers each step of the way.

After a good five minutes, the group sighed in relief as they reached the junction to the main road. A deafening silence fell upon them as they ruminated over the uncanny state of affairs that ensued earlier. Their nightmare was, however, far from over. That night, the foreboding shadows crept into their homes fueling a lurid episode of bizarre occurrences.

Days after the dreadful field experience, Razak claims that his parents saw a ghostly apparition prying through his bedroom window. They initially perceived that it was a woman and child, who probably required help but as ‘it’ turned around to confirm their suspicions, the couple remained silent and intuitively knew what it was. A creaking sound then echoed near the gallery as they hurried towards the door to tentatively secure the bolt. “They don’t need the door, dear. They can simply go through any wall,” Razak’s father implied as his wife gestured for him to hush down. Peering through the corners of the shutters, his mother caught sight of a ‘poltergeist’ commonly known as ‘hantu pochong’ to the locals, but soon vanished into the shadows.

The phenomenal encounters, seemingly plucked from the scenes of a horror film, continue to remain a mystery. In Azim’s case, several ‘visits’ scared the wits out of him as he struggled to fight his fears. “One night, a loud banging erupted on the front door. My parents thought it was a late visitor but after peeking through the window, they caught sight of a paranormal entity gliding from one corner of the house to the other,” he said frightfully.

The daunting episodes didn’t stop there. At the stroke of three in the morning, he could perceive the sounds of loud footsteps, which then faded along the dark corridors. This was followed by strident thuds on the roof, which sounded like giant fingers drumming from above.

Now in their mid-twenties, the group of friends evidently illustrated their hidden fears as they reminisced over the events of that fateful year. “It’s been more than ten years but the events remain freshly imprinted in my mind,” Razak said.

The notorious field, known for its lurid ghost stories, has undergone major transformations throughout the years and a building now stands in its place. The colourful blossoms and green pastures have supplanted the once-gloomy surroundings. Behind the building, the great forest loomed high above the grounds and concealed its sinister facade.

“We probably stepped into forbidden grounds or accidentally offended the malevolent spirits. Whatever the case, this is something no one should experience,” Nazri said before concluding their tales." D

GHOSTS OF THE PAST Encountered by Young Wisconsin Hunter

A day of deer hunting in northern Wisconsin turns out to be more than the young hunter bargained for. He encountered 3 unknown men in the woods, who turned out to have been deceased.

I received the following account:

"Hi. I was hunting in the northern woods of Ashland County, Wisconsin when I was 16. It was my first time going out and also the first time I was left alone with a gun. So, being a teenager, I was pretty excited. We woke at 5:30 AM and left before the sun rose above the horizon. Arriving on the trail, I walked to my ground stand alongside my brother, cousin, and father. Our stands were all aligned in a distant row, separated a few hundred feet. Located on the edge of an old logging road, the stands were easy to find. The stands ran perpendicular to the logging road, forming a straight line along the top of a hill in the dense forest. This wasn't your open field type of hunting land, this was real wilderness hunting land.

My stand was the closest to the logging road, so upon our arrival, my father helped me settle in before continuing through the dark forest with my brother and cousin. I got situated and he went on his way. I watched the light of his headlamp disappear into the trees and I waited for the sun to rise before loading my gun, as the season doesn't start until the sun comes up. Checking my watch, I saw it was about 6:15 AM, so I had some time to kill. I decided to spend the next hour or so catching up on the sleep I missed the previous night.

When I woke, it was because of a cold gust of wind that knocked snow into my lap. I jolted up and immediately checked my watch. 9:30 AM. I overslept and God knows how many deer I could've missed. After sulking in my stand, I felt pressure in my bladder and a need to relieve myself. I picked up my gun, chambered it, and walked backward behind my stand some 150 feet or so to make sure there would be no scent for the deer to pick up on. I opened my zipper and looked around as I did my business.

In the dense tree line, I noticed three men in blaze orange gathered together in a triangle. They all seemed to be talking with each other. At first, I thought it might've been my brother, father, and cousin, however, this was weird. Very weird. We have been the only family to hunt this land in the past 50 years. Once I finished, I picked up my gun and unloaded it before using my scope to sight out the group of people.

I wasn't hallucinating. It was three men huddled together, guns slung on their shoulders. I made sure to take a good long look at every feature I could pick up on. One man wore a thick, fuzzy hat that was all orange. Another man sported a stereotypical lumberjack beard. The final man wore wire-frame aviators. As I paned back across the group, the man with the wire-framed glasses looked back at me through the scope. I had caught their attention and fearing them to be game wardens, I dropped the scope from my eye. My heart rate hit the roof and I began fumbling with the magazine I had unloaded. While scrambling to fit the magazine in the gun, I managed to drop my glove in the snow. I bent down to pick it up and once I looked up, the men were gone.

Having realized the mistake I had made by pointing my gun at what could be DNR agents, I wanted to find them to explain the situation. I continued through the dense trees and saw the spot where the men were standing. Arriving at the point, I examined the undisturbed snow. There were no footprints. My heart rate quickened and I stopped to look around to see if I could see any orange through the brush. There was nothing around me. I was alone with the trees and snow.

I abandoned my search and returned to my stand, anxiously waiting for the end of the day so I could report to my father what I had seen. Once we made it back to our cabin, I berated him with questions.

"We're the only people that hunt up here right? Did you [my brother] and [my cousin] stay in your stands all day? "Did you see anyone walking around you guys because I did?"

My dad thought I was lying to him, as it was nearly impossible that other people had begun to hunt on this remote land. It felt like I was in those horror movies where the main character tries telling the others of the danger, yet no one would listen. My father eventually talked me down and I relaxed, convincing myself it was a group of new guys who were testing out the land.

Before I fell asleep that night, I began to examine the pictures beside my bed. What I saw turned me as pale as the sheet that covered me. Three men, three different pictures. A fourth picture with 1969 written on the back contained all three of them. They were posed around a giant buck that had bled out in the snow. One man wore a thick, fuzzy orange hat, the other man had a long, dark-haired beard, and the third man wore wire-frame glasses.

I sprung up out of my bed with the pictures and confronted my father.

"Who are these guys, dad?" I asked.

"Oh you wouldn't know 'em," he replied, returning his attention to the card game in front of him, "Those are the fellas that built this cabin back in '46 after the war." I felt as if I had gotten much colder after he had said that, but I pressed on.

"Who's this guy?" I asked, pointing to the man with the wire-framed glasses.

"Grandpa," My dad said.

My grandpa had been dead for years, ever since I was 9. In fact, all of them had been dead for years. I will never forget the look my grandpa gave me through that scope. He seemed angry with me based on the way his brow was furrowed. I will never forget that day." N

Huge Quadruped CRYPTID CANINE Encountered in Columbia County, Pennsylvania

Three young men were deer hunting in Columbia County, PA when they observed a huge quadruped canine that was watching them. The description is similar to cryptid canine sightings in the state.

I received the following account:

"Hi, Lon. A friend referred me to your Pennsylvania Dogman map. Maybe what we saw would qualify as one of these creatures. I was out deer hunting with my older brother and his best friend a few years back. I want to say 2017. We were in Columbia County, a few miles east of Elk Grove.

We had been walking along a trail for a good 2 miles at least. On one side of this trail is a decent drop and then a creek and on the other side is a decent uphill section and a huge forest. It was about 6 am by this point and we were just sort of quietly talking to each other when a horrific noise split the air. We all froze and looked at each other with expressions on our faces doing all the work. We knew it came from up in the forest and where we are there aren’t any big predators or really anything out there that we should be “scared” of. So we shouldered our rifles and headed up to find out exactly what made this sound.

I wish we hadn’t. We got to a clearing and the trees were thinning out and my brother flicked on his spotlight. Big and bright, with excellent range. Way up ahead of us was the strangest-looking figure I’ve ever seen. Like the general shape of a wolf but just... off. It was stopped on the edge of another tree line further up the hill looking right at us. Pacing side to side. My brother's friend and I had our rifles trained on it trying to get a good look. We couldn’t count out the fact it was another hunter's dog that was lost so we (against my gut feeling) went up after it.

As we went up after it it became increasingly obvious this thing was watching us very intently. The closer we got, the more we realized this was definitely not a hunter's dog. It was big. Really big and just the way it moved and its entire demeanor was just so unsettling. We kept two rifles on it and one in the opposite direction, slowly made our way back down, and haven’t been back there since.

Don’t really talk about it either as we still don’t know what we saw and people usually jump to the ‘BS’ conclusion because like I said before where we live there are not really any big predators." M

NOTE: This was along Fishing Creek, which was confirmed by the witness. It was a quadruped. The witness said that it looked like a Timber Wolf, but it was very dark and the snout was not as long as those he had seen in photos. It also had a sloping back, like that of a Hyena, and was quite muscular. The description is very similar to other sightings of quadruped cryptid canines I have received in Pennsylvania.
