TBT! Frozen! So You’re Telling Me There’s a Chance!

(09/03/2016) No! Not that stupid Disney Frozen movie! Although that might be Elsa in one of those tubes in the picture. We can only hope, right?  Speaking of Disney, did you know that it’s only a myth that Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen so that he could be revived when they discover a cure for what ever killed him. He was actually buried traditionally. Sucker! Death is for quitters. That’s not me of course. By hook or by crook I plan to avoid death. OK, maybe not by crook. It seems lik...

The next five people who buy my book (it’s only $3.99 for Kindle) and leave a review on Amazon will be emailed a $15 Amazon gift card! Don’t have a Kindle? You don’t need one. Just download the Kindle app to your phone or tablet. I’ll need to see the official Amazon “Verified Purchase” above the review.

Have a great Wednesday! ~Phil

How did prose, namely flash nonfiction, end up in my new poetry chapbook Kin Types?

The easiest way to think of flash nonfiction is to think about a creative essay and imagine it tiny—50, 100, 500, 1000 words.

Once I started trying my hand at flash nonfiction, I saw that flash nonfiction forms are just poems opened up a bit—made a little larger, a little looser, but also relying heavily on sound, diction, images, just as poetry does.

The forms include, but are not limited to:

*lyric essay

*c...

Who Doesn’t Love Spam?

Although that is a picture of the mixed mystery meat we’ve all had at one time or another, I’m talking about online spam, or advertising that becomes a nuisance, kind of like me at a party after a couple drinks.

A group of people, writers, who are probably all really nice people, often transform from these nice people into evil werewolf spammers under the light of a full moon new book release. As you may know, yesterday I released my first book in 3 1/2 years and it was published by an actu...

Time to Lie

The truth is just the lie we’ve chosen to believe, and yours may be different than mine.

Remember that time you dated that complete nutcase and said to yourself, I wish Future Me would have come back and warned me about this. Remember when you and your drunk friends said, If it’s such a bad idea, someone would come back from the future and stop us, right before it b...

How To Read Amazon Kindle Books on Any Device

Little known Fun Phil Fact. That’s my silhouette. Some people assume that you can’t read Kindle books unless you have a Kindle. Au contraire mon frere! You can enjoy reading less expensive e-books (electronic books) on any device that you can download an app to.

Yes, I know there’s a lot of old school people out there who like to hold a real book or like the smell of pages, but guess what? If you give up bulky paperbacks and their smell, you can save money. Yes, e-books are less expensive th...

Will I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends?

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr aren’t my friends, yet. But you are. Tomorrow is a big day in my life. I’ve realized the dream of every writer by getting signed by a publisher, Amber Cove Publishing. Tomorrow is the day my book comes out from the publisher. I’d really like it to go well.

Most people don’t realize that there are probably only a handful of authors on the planet whose books get advertised or get a display in a real bookstore. My publisher is not a big publisher and doesn’t have...

Throwback Thursday! Is It Too Soon for 90’s Nostalgia?

Apparently 90’s nostalgia is a thing for kids born in the 90’s. The 1990’s that is, although I can imagine that the folks born in the 1890’s are feeling pretty nostalgic right now, mostly about having a pulse.

My 18 year old son and his friends are all nostalgic about the TV shows they watched as kids 15 years ago. It seems like some sort of weird disease or Benjamin Buttons affliction. When you’re 18 you shouldn’t look back at anything and think, “Those were the good ol’ days.” These idiots...

My New Book: Coming Friday!

Yes, for the first time in 3 1/2 years, I have a new book coming out Friday Sept. 1st and I’m signed with Amber Cove Publishing! Here’s the synopsis of my novel. It’s not anything heavy or serious. It’s a fun, weekend beach read type of book that will be perfect for the Labor Day weekend in the States.

Time to Lie

Remember that time you dated that complete nutcase and said to yourself, I wish Future Me would have come back and warned me about this. Remember when you and your drunk friends s...
