Music Monday! The Most Viewed Video in YouTube History

Yes, in spite of all the cat videos and videos of people doing stupid things, just two days ago this video became the most watched of all time on YouTube. Not even Psy’s Gangam Style can boast the 3 billion views Despacito has.

You can also find a version featuring Justin Bieber if you’d like. Chances are though that it won’t get as many views on my blog as #Babymetal with Rob Halford did last week. Have a great Monday! ~Phil

Control My Fate With A Vote

So here is my quandary: I have a credit card where I accumulate fictional airline miles that if they add up enough, I can use to purchase flights. A few months ago I had enough miles and purchased a flight. Now it looks like I’ll have to cancel that flight. In the airlines loyalty club rules it says that if I cancel my flight I either don’t get my miles back, or if I want my miles back I have to pay them $150. Mind you, if I cancel now, they have weeks to re-sell that seat and its on a fligh...

I Think I’m Turning Japanese, I Really Think So

I’ve got your picture, I’ve got your picture

I’d like a million of them all round my cell
I want the doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well.
You’ve got me turning up and turning down and turning in and turning ’round. I’m turning Japanese, I think I’m turning Japanese, I really think so. ~ The Vapors, 1980

I don’t think that I’m turning Japanese, but it’s possible that #ThePhilFactor is. Earlier this week my Music Monday post featuring the band #Babymetal went a...

Would You Like To Do A Guest Post Here?

As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I’m in full book writing mode, which decreases my blog writing time a bit. As per your vote a few weeks ago, I’m looking to replace my Tuesday Top Ten lists with Guest Bloggers. I’ve had two great ones, Sick Christine and John Howell.  If you have a book to promote, or just want to promote yourself and your blog just say so in the comments.

Have you ever woke up, got out of bed and dragged a comb across your head,  then checked your blog stats? Yes, I’m sur...

#Throwback Thursday! Who Let The Dogs Out?

This post is a throwback from a very interesting day in my life ten years ago. It came up because Michael Vick was in the news again today as there has been some public backlash to his university inducting him into their sports Hall of Fame. Those of you in the United States will no doubt remember the 2007 news story of the professional football player who ran a dog fighting ring.

(August 27, 2007) So I get sent to Richmond, Virginia for a two week training to prepare me for my new job. I’ve...

Wordless Wednesday!

What I find most impressive about this photo is that I caught the “thumbs up” sun reflection in the wine. Have a great Wednesday! ~ Phil

Top Ten Tuesday! Ten Things Someone Should Invent

Sure Amazon delivery drones seem like an awesome idea, but if it’s so great, why hasn’t it been rolled out for public consumption like another iPhone? Give up the flying car idea. Let’s face it, most of us shouldn’t be allowed to drive on the ground. Here are some other things I think someone should invent:

10. Remote house unlock: I can’t tell you how many times I get out of my car and point the car unlock remote at myhouse door expecting it to unlock it like it does my car.

9. Invisible Fe...

Music Monday! The Strangest Thing I’ve Ever Seen on a Music Stage

I saw this occur live, in person last year at the Alternative Press Music Awards and I still can’t get it out of my head. It was the weirdest musical performance I’ve ever seen. Rob Halford of Judas Priest performed with Babymetal , a trio of young Japanese women singing with heavy metal backing music.  The real performance starts about one minute into the performance. Former heavy metal icon Rob Halford joins the trio at the 7:40 mark.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

I Bloody Love Chips!

The original quote, which I borrowed from the old British sitcom, Miranda, is actually “I bloody love crisps!” Unfortunately, for the purposes of this post, crisps just won’t do because I’m talking about chips, microchips, and those just aren’t good in dip. But apparently they might be good in your arm or neck or where ever!

My cat has a microchip in his neck so that if he ever gets lost and is returned to a shelter or vets office, they will know who he belongs to. In an article in The Indep...

Guest Blogger: John Howell

Today’s guest blogger is the hilarious John Howell of John’s Fiction Favorites.

Thank you, Phil. It is a real pleasure to be a guest on your blog. I consider you one of the funniest bloggers and have looked forward to this visit. If I may, I would like to paint a fictional picture for your readers. Since you have opened your blog to other writers, I have created an imaginary situation where you set auditions for those who want to appear. (Don’t worry everyone, this is just pretending, and Ph...
