Some big news for The Chronicles of Fire and Ice!

So you may have seen me posting about a big announcement for a few days now, and now i can finally say what it is! For those of you who know me i am a very impatient person and can't keep secrets of my own for very long, especially one's as life changing as this!!!

So this is how it began.

Back in april i came across an advert on Facebook featuring the handsome face of one Mr Ryan Gosling. It said that you could have a chance of him reading your manuscript! Sound too good to be true? Well, almost.
Now, Ryan has yet to read my book, but i did submit my shockingly untidy, partially edited manuscript of Fire and Ice on a whim and for a bit of fun, never thinking anything might come of it.

But guess what?

Two days ago i received an email while i was drinking my morning coffee like i do every morning on the front balcony. I opened it thinking it might just be another email from Goodreads or something. But Then i saw who it was from, and thought, hmm, i've seen that name somewhere before. It still hadn't clicked at this point. I started reading the email and it went something like this:

"Laura,

Thankyou for your submission and apologies for the delay. We believe you have created an intriguing world and would love to bring it to as many readers as possible. As such, we are thrilled to announce that we would love to represent The Chronicles of Fire and Ice."

So, yes you read correctly, I just got offered, or rather, my first little book got offered to be represented by a Literary Agent!!! Writer's Bloq Inc!! (If you haven't heard of them google them.)

The news still hasn't sunk in yet.

So what does this mean for the book?

As far as i know (and i will keep you updated as soon as i'm allowed to let you know) Fire and Ice will be republished and relaunched under a different cover :( and get an interior makeover in order for it to appeal to the mass market and traditional publishers. I don't know what this means for the Legend of the Archangel series but i hope that this new audience will love Fire and Ice and the rest of the series will be picked up as well.

I am still pretty overwhelmed by this news and still coming to terms with what this means for me personally and my career as an author. I have seen what they've done for the books and author's they have taken under their wing and it's amazing!

If you would like, i recommend looking up Red by EJ Koh on amazon and searching for the trailer on youtube, or EJ Koh's blog, they are all fab and also represented by WB Inc!

Soul mates and books

Hey peeps!

Sorry for the lack of posting but i've been away on a pilgramage across South America, and let me tell you, i've had an epiphany since my return.

I won't go into details, because lets face it, there's some aspects of my life i'd rather keep private, but what i will say is two things that i've come to realise;

1. Chivalry is not dead. (No girls it truly isn't. But it mostly relates to Christian boys. My opinion anyway)
2. I believe in soul mates, and when it is time God will bring mine to me.

Now wasn't that awfully sappy and romantic? What can i say? I guess i'm a romantic at heart. I am also a proud-to-be Catholic and not afraid to say so.

Now the heading said soul mates and books.

Here's the book part.

I was just speaking to my amazing editor today and she is almost done with The Garden of Eden. It is almost here eeep! In other news, yes i did get some inspiration on my trip for The Legend of the Archangel series from my travels, so when i get over my cold i will finish off writing The Chronicles of Silver and Gold and then get onto writing book 2 of the Eden Chronicles, The Garden of Death and The Aqua Secret.
As for Treacherous, well it is about to land in my lovely editor's hands and i am aiming for an october release. I cannot wait to get this book out into your hands!

That is all for now.

Love you loads,

Laura xx

Excerpt
I ran so fast I felt one with the wind. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.  Sooner or later my mother would track me down but until then I’ll enjoy myself. As I entered the arcade I heard my name.“Yo, Eden.”“Eden! You escaped.”I smiled as I saw my friends approach. “Yeah I escaped the clutches of the evil demon.”“You shouldn’t joke about that stuff, it could be real,” said Zoe innocently. Zoe was my best friend and still an innocent. Her boyfriend Mike thought he understood all. Even though they were Nephilim too, I couldn’t let them learn who my father was.“It is real, Zo. If there are angels, there are demons. You can’t have one without the other.”“Who says?” I defended as I retrieve the air hockey puck out of the slot and place it on the table. It begins sliding around in a small circle, waiting for me to hit it.“Says I.” Mike took the position opposite me and waited. I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. Zoe always says I do this thing with my eyes that could make every boy swoon, but I don’t believe it. How could one person’s eyes make someone swoon? As I wacked the air hockey puck, Mike seemed distracted by something, so the puck sailed straight down into my goal at his end. The electronic voice announced the score to be one nil and that seemed to break his reverie.“Mike, what happened? You were totally out of it.” Zoe placed a hand on his bicep.“No, I wasn’t.”“Yes, you were. You totally let Eden win.”“It was just a lucky shot,” I said in defence. I couldn’t let them think that somehow I had something to do with Mike’s off-with-the-faeries moment. Did I? It couldn’t be possible. I didn’t just cause Mike to space out and act as if he and I were the only ones left on earth? Did I?“That never happens, baby.”“Okay, maybe this turn will be better.” Mike retrieved the puck out of the slot on his side and placed it on the table, ready to hit. I stood ready, but this time I was the distracted one. I couldn’t get the feeling out of my head that I had revealed one of my powers to him. My mother said to never do that. But was it even one of my traits? The air hockey puck sailed straight under me and landed in his goal. One- all.“Oh yeah!” Mike hooted, but I didn’t feel like partying anymore. I walked away from the table.“Oh, what’s the matter, Eden, afraid of being beat?”“No, I just don’t feel like playing anymore.”“Oh, come on! We were right in the middle of a game!”I walked away ignoring their pleas as the allure of the hoop game called me over. I had just pushed a token in the slot and picked up a ball, when I heard my name. But it wasn’t from Mike or Zoe.“So this is where you spend your runaway hours?” I glanced over my shoulder and saw the creep standing behind me.“Who are you and what do you want?”“Don’t you see the family resemblance?” he smirked.I turned to take a good look at him, intrigued. The guy had to be about my mother’s age, maybe a little older and had the same grey- blue eyes my mother has.“Uncle Adam?”“In the flesh. Now lets get out of here.”I chuckled as I turned back around and threw a ball at the highest scoring hoop. It went in. “I am not going anywhere with you.”Adam clapped. “Good shot. But its not surprising, seeing whose blood you carry in your veins.”“Do you mean yours and Mum’s, or…”“Lakyn’s?” He finished for her. “Either way, you have so many abilities you are not even aware of, Eden. And some of them are quite dangerous.”“How do you know this?”“I was there from the moment you were born. Trust me, I know.”I tossed another ball in, this time in a lower scoring hoop and it went in as well. “I’m still not going with you.” As I picked up a third ball and pushed it towards the hoops, it froze mid- air. I gasped and looked back at my uncle. He shrugged.“Game over.”As he walked away, the ball remained frozen.“Wait, how did you do that?” I asked, glancing back and forth from the ball to him.“If you come with me, I’ll tell you.”“My mother sent you, didn’t she?”“She might have.”“So what you just did, can I do that?”“Everyone’s traits are different, but probably. If you come with me, you can find out more.”“I can’t just leave my friends.”“Yes, you can. You can always make new friends.”I stopped walking and looked at my friends playing the Daytona. Mike was showing Zoe how to drive, which was really cute. And then I looked at my uncle, waiting patiently outside the mouth of the arcade by a black town car. If I stayed, I would never know what my traits would be, I would never learn how to use them. But I would be a normal teenager, going to school and hanging out at the arcade with her friends. If I went with my uncle, I would no longer be normal. I wanted both lives. But the idea of having amazing powers intrigued me most. In the end I chose door two. Looking back I regretted leaving my friends. But I knew they would never understand. I knew deep down that I was made for a higher purpose.

An Untimely Romance by J&L Wells - Blog Tour

I had the amazing opportunity to receive a copy of this book as an ARC in its early drafts, but i can't wait to receive a paperback copy of it when it becomes available.

Title: An Untimely RomanceAuthor: J & L WellsGenre: New Adult, Time Travel RomanceTour Host: Lady Amber's Tours
Synopsis:
Heather Richardson is a seventeen-year-old British girl whose life quickly becomes an emotional roller coaster when she meets Ruben Brown, a controlling twenty-four-year-old man who works for her father at Freesdon Manor. As much as Heather wants to love Ruben, the cracks in their relationship begin to show as her eighteenth birthday draws nigh.
In a surprising turn of events Heather is confronted by Frank, an intriguing man from a past that dates back to the nineteenth century. His untimely presence changes everything.
When she’s thrown back in time by an unrelenting force, Heather realizes that her life is not what it appears to be. Her future has already been written, and it seems she cannot escape her fate, a fate determined by a love lost long ago. In her struggle to find herself, Heather must chose her destiny amidst a dangerous love triangle, vengeful lovers, and passions controlled by the hands of time.
My Review:
i had amazing opportunity to ARC read this book and wow! where do i begin? Heather is a seventeen year old girl who lives in an ancient manor house with her family, moving there when she was 13. Once there she meets an array of colourful characters including Ruben, (who annoyed me immensely!) and Frank.. Oh, Frank, who is very Darcy-esque. Its like he has stepped through time. Heather's family have bought the house and are getting it renovated and restored to its original beauty to re-open to the public as a sort of historical landmark.
This house holds many secrets, and when Heather gets to the bottom of it she finds she is deeper involved than she realises.
If you love books or movies like the Secret Garden then i definately recommend Untimely.
Now let's find out a little about these two wonderful authors!

Chapter One: Ye Olde England “Oh, Mr Boswel,” Anna sighed awkwardly, biting her bottom lip as he gazed seductively into her eyes. She placed her small-gloved hand into his and he smiled, but no words passed between them. The heady concerto played by the musicians faded into insignificance, the guests and all their formalities forgotten in the moment. He led her into an open hallway towards the larger of two grand staircases. She could hardly breathe. His dark-brown eyes were hypnotic and with every gaze they burned into hers. His jet-black hair fell in soft waves around his shoulders, while small curls drifted onto his forehead, which he had a habit of flicking back to reveal his face. And oh, what a face, with his chiselled jawline, high cheekbones and overly full lips, perfect traits complemented by a rich olive skin tone and pretty, near perfect complexion. Anna had waited so long for this moment. She felt her legs trembling beneath her, hoping upon hope that they wouldn’t give way. Upon reaching the first floor, guilt descended upon her. She knew what she was about to embark on was wrong and that she’d be judged, but on second glance down the stairs, across the hall and through the arched doorway, she saw that those in attendance at the masquerade ball danced on and drank merrily, oblivious to their departure. She wasn’t allowed to linger for long, as Mr Boswel’s firm grip pulled her slightly off balance and she stumbled wearily. Aware that the hour was late, her gaze wandered briefly before coming to rest on the ornate grandfather clock in its regal attire, situated equidistantly between the two staircases, both hands sitting comfortably on the number one.Mr Boswel’s eyes held a warm reassurance as he led her across the landing towards a large oak door. “After you, madam,” he gestured, opening the door.“Thank y’ sir,” she uttered nervously. Why me? Anna thought to herself as her conscience juggled with reality, still questioning why he had given her the time of day. With his good looks and his status, he really could have anybody he desired. On close inspection, Anna knew she was anything but beautiful; even as a child, her mother referred to her as plain. It wasn’t that she had a bad face, just not an overly pretty one; her eyes perhaps too small, their colour quite insignificant – somewhere between light blue and grey – and strawberry-blonde hair scraped back rather severely in a bun. There wasn’t anything dynamic about her features either; even her nose had a slight tilt to the left – a flaw nobody else would have picked up on.Then the door closed behind them and they were alone at last, away from unwanted roving eyes. It was a moment she’d longed for, for what seemed like an eternity. She found herself in a large bedchamber, a four-poster bed made from a deep rich wood taking centre stage, its precise carvings inlaid with gold leaf in large spirals. Warm red silk drapes, not quite scarlet, perhaps a shade or two deeper complemented the bed. The room exuded wealth, with its deep-mahogany furnishings, high walls and numerous gilt edged portraits.Anna felt lost in her new surroundings.“Well, Anna…”She jumped, and her eyes were drawn once again towards the handsome Mr Boswel, who had already removed his shoes and was now reclined on the bed, propped up by two thick cotton bolsters. His long taupe waistcoat was draped untidily over a padded-back chair, and she watched tentatively as he started unbuttoning his linen shirt to reveal a toned physique.“Join me,” he murmured, his voice soft and inviting. Her heart was beating so heavily in her chest as she made her way over to the bed that she was sure he’d be able to hear. She was even tempted to hold her breath. He leaned his body forward towards hers as she sat nervously on the edge of the bed. She knew he was going to take her, and although she felt way out of her depth, she wanted him so very badly. He smelt so fine, his broad chest brushing against her arm; she could feel the soft hairs between his nipples, and then their hardness. She was burning inside as he ran his fingers longingly over her body. She felt his breath, then his lips, tenderly at first as they began caressing the nape of her neck, and then with an urgency, a hunger, the tenderness turned to lust. Their lips met for the first time and he pulled her body roughly onto his, quickly loosening the bodice of her gown and starting to untie the lacings of her corset…~•••~“Anna,” he whispered, a husky lilt to his voice.“Mr Boswel…” were the only words to leave her lips as they lay lost in the moment, wrapped in each other’s arms.“Stay here with me tonight.”“Sir, I’ll be tellin’ y’, I’m betrothed to another,” Anna replied, shedding tears of guilt while darting around the room, recovering her garments.Mr Boswel sighed. “An unfortunate predicament in which you find yourself, my dear,” he said, lifting himself slightly and leaning the weight of his body on his elbows, looking at her earnestly while she dressed.“Mr Boswel, yer reputation precedes ye.”“Perhaps, Anna, but they are just empty conquests.”“All but one, sir.” Anna paused, awaiting his response, but the words she longed for were not forthcoming.“This I cannot deny, but I would be grateful if you were not to mention her name. She is now but a ghost from my past.”“I must take yer leave, sir. I’ll be missed.” Fear grew in her voice. “Mr Boswel, I ain’t gonna live a life with ye as me guilty secret.” “Well, Anna, that’s all I have to offer you. At this present time you must be patient… I…”Anna interrupted him before he could continue. “Please, sir, I beg of ye, say no more. I think it best I bid ye farewell.”With that, she walked out of the room and out of his life, sure that he was watching until she closed the door.

Interview with Airicka Phoenix

I've wanted to interview Airicka for a while now, and i've finally had the opportunity today! Thankyou Airicka for taking the time to sit down and answer my questions. Let's take a look inside Airicka's mind shall we?

1. Firstly, in your bio it says you would love to take a look inside Stephen King’s mind. Do you have a favourite Stephen King novel?
That man is a genius! I think my favourite of his would have to be, Bag of Bones. There were a few others like Salam’s Lot and Dreamcatcher.  As I said, the man is absolutely brilliant.
2. I was watching Under the Dome last night, a show based on Stephen King’s 2009 novel of the same name and noticed something similar to a plotline in Games of Fire. Did this book inspire Games of Fire?
No, actually. I actually never got around to finishing Under the Dome, but I did watch the show as well last night and I know which part you’re referring to. But no, Games of Fire was inspired while I was writing Touching Eternity. It was originally supposed to be a simple contemporary, boy meets girl, falls in love, etc. The suspense and murders came as a surprise even to me.
3. How do you approach each new project?
With a lot of determination and planning. I write mountains of notes before I jump into any book. I like to know where I’m going and how I plan on winding up there. Granted, a lot of the time the stories like to take their own turns, like Games of Fire, but so long as I have a clear picture in my head, I’m good to go.
4. Lets talk Octavian. Firstly, that boy is HOT, secondly I want to push Riley out of the way and call him mine. Where did the inspiration for this series, Sons of Judgment come from?
Octavian’s Undoing, believe it or not was meant for an anthology I got asked to participate in. The theme was being turned into something supernatural for the first time. It was supposed to be under 3K, but two days later, I had 300 pages and it was still growing. By time it was edited we were standing at 600 pages.
5. I noticed there’s a bit of the Gaelic language in Octavian’s Undoing. Did you have to do a lot of research before writing this book, Gaelic, selkie lore etc?
I did! I absolutely love the Gaelic language. I love Irish accents and Ireland plain and simple. I spent over a week doing online searches and making calls to all manner of places asking for information on Ireland myths and lores. I wanted it all to be as close to the stories as possible with my own unique twist.
6: Can you give me a spoiler to an upcoming book?
One of my upcoming novels is Touching Fire, book #2 of the Touch Saga. It will be released this summer so I’m really excited. As for a spoiler…
[…] “Stop touching me,” I gasped, cotton-mouthed, half-crazed by the possibility that he might take me seriously. “Why?” His breath fanned over my dry and already parted lips. I opened my eyes, surprised to find them closed. “Because I won’t want you to stop.”The band of steel around my waist tightened until I was supported only by him, by his arm, his chest, his heat, his scent… God, I was home! My fingers curled into the soft material of his fresh, clean shirt. He must have changed, but it was yet another black t-shirt.“I can’t.” His lips wrote each word against mine in the caress of butterfly wings. My bones liquefied. I nearly fainted. “Why?” The single word was a mere movement of my lips. His free hand shackled my chin, guided my face up, held me prisoner to eyes much too animal to be human. “Because I don’t want to stop.” […]

Now for a bit of fun:
Chocolate or strawberry? What is this strawberry business you speak of…??? :P
Fuzzy socks or slippers? Slippers! Fuzzy socks tickle my toes and I hate being tickled. LOL
Wine or spirit?Neither. I actually don’t drink anything stronger than coffee.
Coffee or tea? Tea. Coffee sits weird in my stomach, not that you wanted to know that, but there you go. I like oversharing. :D
Dogs or cats? I’m going to say cat, but that’s a secret that my dog can never know about.
Winter or summer? Summer!!! I loathe the cold. I’m a sucker for heat. The hotter the better.
Read the book first or see the movie, then read the book? I will always read the book first. I like sitting there and thinking, Ha! That was in the book, or wait a minute… that’s not right!
A message from Airicka:
Thank you, Laura, for having me pop in and chat with you for a bit. It was wonderful to meet your readers and I look forward to chatting with you again soon. <3

Review:
I really do not know how to start this. Can i just say firstly, WOW! This book is fan-freaking-tastic and as the heading suggests, is probably hands down Airicka's best work to date! I really did not know what to expect going into this. I first thought this book would be something steampunk, then i thought it would be something sexy and erotic.. but nope. It is sexy, but not all about sex. The characters and storyline draw you in and you can't help but fall in love with those Maxwell boys, especially Octavian (I call dibs!).This is addictive writing at its best, as with all of this author's work and i can't wait to own a copy of this in paperback form! Now i heart this woman to bits, not because i am proud to call her my friend but because she is one of the sweetest people you will ever talk to and her writing freaking rocks!!!

Octavian's Undoing is out now on Amazon and i give it 100 stars!!

Spotlight on Author, Kate Marie Robbins

I've had the pleasure of befriending this lovely lady and she is so amazingly talented its unbelievable!
She drew the design on her book cover and designed all own bookmarks and banners and even inserted character sketches inside her book! I just recieved a copy of her first book, Indigo today and i can't wait to get started!

so, let's find out a little more about this author, shall we?

Who is Kate Marie Robbins?

From the makings of her fabulous tennis hits, from the inspiration of her waggish pets, from the riotous air of Minnesota, comes Kate Marie Robbins...She lives in a VERY small town in southeastern Minnesota with her family and her three pets.  She is currently working in a nursing home but has for long dreamed of being a published author- which since you are reading this, has come true.  She likes to read, sing, paint and is very proud of her music & book collections. She also wants to travel the world. When she travels the world of Indigo, she would like to learn sword fighting from Bradan, or be a tailor.Kate once waited to get into a concert for ten hours, in a snow storm. She dyes her hair a different color every few months, and once went to Walmart wearing a black cape and cat ears. She never got into trouble at school, and has not yet achieved her ambition of drinking her way through all twelve pubs pictured on her Irish calendar.

What is her debut book about you ask?

Indigo synopsis:

Ava is your typical teenage girl, hoping to spend her summer doing the usual: shopping, concerts, skateboarding, and hanging out with her friends. Her best friend Sera has other plans for them, learning how fly her uncle Mat’s hot air balloon. Their first solo flight turns out to be the adventure of a lifetime.

By magical forces, they are pulled into a world that is unlike their own: the world of Indigo, steeped in myths, legends, and prophecy. Where nothing is what it seems. Where good and evil are not easily distinguished. Will the two teens be able to figure out whose side they are really on before it’s too late and find their way home?
