Lasagna--I'm Still Not A Food Blogger

After my Freezer Meal Post, Red Gold contacted me and said they'd love to hook me up with some lasagna. I will never turn down free food, so told them to send it on my way. I actually think I said "Lasagna? Get in my belly!" but who's keeping track?
Quick as my freezer meal construction, I got my lasagna kit in the mail. They included some recipes and some suggestions for using the Red Gold products. But, you know me; I like to do my own thing. And that's what I did.
Included in my kit we...

Minor details

I seriously only had about a square foot area in which I could prepare my freezer meals last Saturday. Not much space at all. So when I made a mess in my space, I'd quickly wipe it down and keep assembling. I was in the groove, and the groove was in the heart.

I finished those puppies, shoved them in the freezer and called myself Rachael Ray.

Three of them would not fit on the shelf in our upright; I set them in the doorway and religiously pulled them out when it was time to start cooking. ...

Weekly Run-Down #4

I forgot last week. Maybe because I was sleep deprived. As far as getting up at 6 a.m. every morning, I'm totally doing it. But the whole reason I was doing it was to have more time and be more productive. That's not happening.

I am a night person--I know this to be true and have known it to be true for years. (I love learning styles!) I do my best thinking at night and the later, the better. So, is the 6 a.m. wake up thing helping? Heck if I know. I'll continue it because the morning's not ru...

Not Gone Nor Forgotten

This winter has caused us all kinds of memory issues. The cold has robbed our brains of our capacity to remember just the basics.

1. The Daughters have forgotten that we have a place for their shoes in their rooms. Right now there are seven pair of shoes under the table and three pair of shoes in the living room. We picked them up last night. This has all happened since 6:22 this morning. I blame the cold.

2. We can't seem to remember that the trash men won't--because they've never--come...

20 Freezer Meals for $100 in my Dirty Kitchen!

I've seen all of you Pinning and sharing on Facebook those posts that claim they made a gazillion meals for their freezer for $5 in four minutes or whatever. I didn't pay too much attention to the titles. But they did appeal to me for several reasons:

I love freezer meals.I love saving money.I just might be a foodie blogger deep down in my soul.
So, I spent the week scouring over these blog posts that claimed to have made a bajillion meals for next to nothing in their nice and tidy kitchens. I...

Sacrifcing Momma

I'm not sure when I first ate a Frog in the Hole, but I loved it. The yummy breakfast (or lunch or dinner) dish reminds me of college, but I cannot recall any instance when I actually ate it during college. Of course, there are many instances that I cannot recall from college (cough, cough, my junior year, cough, cough), so that doesn't really mean much.

Ohmygoodness, y'all! This is my favorite!Frog in the Hole also reminds me of snow days--again, I'm not sure why. But, when we have a snow day...

21st Century Kid

Raising a kid in these days of a high-tech, hand-held lifestyles is really difficult. As a momma I have to compete with every single piece of information (and misinformation) in the whole wide world, also known as the WWW.

When I was a kid, my new information, also called The Evening News, came in small doses at 5:00. Usually, at this time, my daddy was watching the news with a cold Miller Light in his hand while my own momma finished up our supper. My sister and I usually played outside until...

That's why, Ben

"You wanna use this?" Ben, the young and--let's hope--chaste cashier at the Big Box Sporting Goods store said to Daughter 2 as she struggled to open her softball-shaped lip gloss. Then he handed her a box cutter.

A Box Cutter.

We'd spent the evening running all over Tulsa trying to find everything she needed for her softball team (Go, Oklahoma Bedlam!) and at what I thought would be our last stop at the south-edge of town, we discovered Ball Balms. Ball Balms (they may have had some other catch...

Weekly Run Down--January 11

This week, with the surprise of two additional Christmas Vacation days, we didn't start waking up at 6 a.m. until Wednesday when we returned to school. I'm pleased to say that I only hit snooze once this week. I behaved as a zombie every single day, but I only hit snooze once.

Ironically, today (Saturday), I woke up at 6:00, checked the time, went to the bathroom and then the rabbit in bed with me asked, "Are you getting up now?" and I said, "It is 6:00." So the rabbit said, "But on the weeken...

I Got Third

All I remember, really, is that we had been stuck in the house for a bazillion days because no only was it snowy but it was insanely cold, blistery cold, crappy cold that made one's boogers instantly freeze just opening up the door. When it's that cold? People get all kinds of cranky.

Apparently, I was cranky. I don't recall why I send Daughter 2 to her room, but I did. And I not only used my inside voice, but I used my Jack Nicholson as Colonel Jessup voice:

I eat breakfast three-hundred yards...
