Shuffle On Like Leon
When the creators of Up! developed the main character, Carl Fredrickson, I'm convinced they modeled him after Leon at Shady Pines. Leon, aside from a thick head of hair, could literally be Carl. He shuffles as he walks with his walker. He has that prominent, round nose smack in the middle of his face. And, although Leon has a very sweet disposition, his eye brows are always furrowed as if someone is trying to steal his house. If Leon showed up in the dining room with a ta...

Sponsored: How do you Aioli?
I'll be real honest: When Red Gold asked me if I wanted some of their canned tomatoes (The answer to this question is ALWAYS!) to help them celebrate their Facebook contest "How Do You Aioli" (which runs through May 28), I had to look up the word. I thought Aioli was a typo.
So, before we proceed with my kick-a$$ aioli dip, let me share my new-found knowledge with you. Aioli is a mayo-like spread or dip or topping. It's versatile and delicious and, best of all, Red Gold makes it's super duper...

Lessons from Shady Pines #623
When I Am Old And Grey Yesterday at the ball fields, we positioned our chairs in the "second row" behind home plate. The area immediately behind home was left clear for spectators to place their chairs. When it was our game time, we planned to move to the "front row." But, I guess we didn't move quick enough, and a couple of grandparents zoomed in front of us and occupied the first row before we could make our move.
We were still on the second row when the grandparents put down their chairs ri...

Sponsored: Uncovering Oklahoma's 2014 Date Idea Book
I was given the opportunity to review Dennis Spielman's book Uncovering Oklahoma's 2014 Date Idea Book. Since Brian and I try to get out together at least once a millennium, I was excited to get the chance to read this book. I've frequently read Spielman's blog Uncovering Oklahoma, so I was excited to get my hands on this book.
It did not disappoint! This 8 x 10 book, complete with color photos and arranged by geographical area, is perfect for anyone whether you are a born and bred Okie...

Sponsored: GoPhone from AT&T hits Tulsa's Mayfest!
One of the coolest things about living so close to Tulsa is getting to be a part of the fabulous activities they have for their community. We love the Driller's games. We love the Greek Festival, and we absolutely love Tulsa International Mayfest!Tulsa's Mayfest features local music, arts, crafts, food and wares. As varied as my family's tastes are, each of us can find something magical that speaks to us at Mayfest. This year, the festival will be May 15-18 in the ever-awesome downtown Tulsa...

Lessons From Shady Pines #526
A while back, my own momma moved from the rehab floor at our local hospital to a skilled nursing unit at a local nursing home. Her rehab is continuing at a very intense pace and she's making quite a bit of progress ... more progress than my sister and I initially imagined when she left the hospital after a month of physical and occupational therapy.

A Week From Show Date
This past week a sweet friend of mine, Jasmin, asked if anyone could take her Stanley on a trip. I told her that I was going to Oklahoma City for our final read-through of the Listen To Your Mother show before the big day (May 4 at 2:00--Do you have your tickets yet?)
Bright and early on Saturday morning, Stanley and I set out for Oklahoma City. He might have been tired because he was up practically all night long on Friday, but he was bright eyed smiling when we left Bartlesville.

Today is about love. That is all.
There are a half-dozen (probably more--I got tired of hiding them) posts in my Facebook newsfeed (which is where I get all of my reliable, day-starting information) spewing hatred this morning.
You can't say "Happy Easter" if you don't know Christ and His ultimate sacrifice!
We're not celebrating Easter. We're celebrating the resurrection! I just hid the resurrection eggs--think about that when your coloring your eggs this year.
If the Easter Bunny comes to your house, you've missed the message...
