Tree Project – Day 28

Tree Project – image 28
We are expecting rain this afternoon. And while it’s a little warmer because of that, it also means no blue skies and brilliant sunshine. There’s no breeze and the air is still and heavy with moisture, and I’m sure the trees are looking forward to drinking some fresh water, later.

Tree Project – Day 27

Tree Project – image 27
Today’s photo was taken at around noon given it’s Sunday and we have a lie-in. But I like that … no, not the lie-in (which I love) the fact that that each Sunday’s image is taken at a different time during the day. Usually around noon. I think it offers a contrast to the early morning photo, along with a change of light.
We will be up on our apartment building roof, tonight (all being well) to take photos of the super moon, the results of which I’ll post tomorrow. It’s been a while since I not only saw a good super moon, but also a lunar eclipse. I’m excited.

Tree Project – Day 26

Tree Project – image 26
On the weekend of the super, blood-red full moon and eclipse, the weather continues to hold fair, clear and bright, if a little brisk now, in the mornings. But brisk I am happy to accept if it means we continue with clear blue skies. Especially tomorrow evening, for the full moon.
Hopefully, all being well, tonight and tomorrow evening I’ll try take some shots of the moon hung above my trees. I’m not sure if being on the second floor, I’ll see it all that well, or if I will need to go to the rooftop for a better view. I’ll find out tonight, as they say.

Tree Project – Day 25

Tree Project – image 25
Well, if I thought it was a tad cold yesterday, when I stepped out on the balcony, I was in for a rude awakening today! It’s a couple of degrees cooler. Thankfully, there’s little or no breeze to speak of, and the air is almost still.
There was a light mist around 5 am, which has lifted and, they say, we’re in for more sunshine this afternoon. But, again, like yesterday, much cooler than even just a week ago. Ah, well, time to break out the jeans and sweaters. And maybe, it’s time for the sneakers.

Tree Project – Gallery

In the hope of identifying my small cluster of trees, I popped out this afternoon and took several shots of leaves and seed pods. I’ve downloaded a free app for tree identification. And, if I’ve done this right, the trees in my cluster are, White Ash and Sycamore.
But they could easily be a Hickory and Maple. Peering at the small screen on my iPhone and trying to match leaf patterns with the images presented and those I can see, in reality, is a little haphazard at best.
If I’m wrong, and you can better identify the trees from their leaves, let me know, thanks!
Tree Project – Day 24

It’s a chilly and brisk 7 degrees outside this morning, but once again, the sun is shining out of a crystal clear blue sky. I guess I can’t ask for any more than that! Autumn has definitely arrived with each morning this week cooler than the previous. And the trees have noticed, as I spotted tinges of colour here and there, on my tree.
As I downloaded a free app onto my phone for tree identification, I’m going to check out the trees in my cluster. More on that tomorrow.

Tree Project – Day 23

Tree Project – image 23
Had one of those days were I’ve had to do everything with only one working hand, which has meant that today’s photo was not only taken late in the day, but under awkward circumstances. But here it is.

Tree Project – Day 22

Tree Project – image 22
Autumn officially arrives today, and I can feel it again, in the air outside. Cool but not cold, slightly overcast but with a promise of afternoon sunshine. The air is still like it’s holding its breath in anticipation … Autumn is coming!

Updating to iOS9
So, I did it … I did it and, I’m not sure it was the best thing to do.
I updated both my original iPad mini and my recently purchased iPhone 5c to the new iOS, which in and of itself was easy enough to do, no problems there. But, given the new iOS is supposed to offer a whole new set of options, save battery power and this and that … It doesn’t. At least, not for me.
My iPad is now sluggish, running awkwardly with a certain shall I call it, lag time? And while some apps open and run okay, others seem to be grumpy. It’s true I’ve had no crashes, like many, but I think that app makers are going to have to play catch up with a few updates, as there is obviously something amiss.
Meanwhile, I will just have to wait and see if things improve as I go through all the new menus and switch stuff off. But, word of caution, if you are thinking of upgrading an older device, may I suggest you wait awhile, unless, that is, you have a brand new shiny iPhone 6. Then go right ahead, you’ll get access to all the new nifty things older models don’t.
In quoting a friend, is it a case of iMarketing better than iEngineering?
Mumble, mutter …
Tree Project – Day 21
It seemed cold first thing in the apartment, this morning, when I got up. But then again, in comparison to the chill outside, it was almost balmy indoors. There’s a definite wintery chill out there, as overnight temperatures are settling in to the lower end. But still, the day dawned to clear blue skies and the promise of more warm afternoon temperatures.
That’s not to say crisp and cool isn’t a good thing, I know that means my trees will start to turn more vibrant colours as, in the next day or so, we officially move into autumn and the Fall makes her presence felt. Can’t wait.
