Tree Project – Day 10

Tree Project – image 10
Well, it’s 8:45 and it’s a decidedly cool 12 degrees. Throw in the light breeze and, well, it actually felt cold out on the balcony as I took this morning’s shot. Again, for the most part, it’s sunny, though there’s high altitude clouds. No rain for today, it’s supposed to be warm to cool. Another sign autumn is on her way.
My tree, for the most part, is still richly green, but either side, they’re showing their autumn colours, both now heavy with seed pods. I can’t wait for a blustery day to see them all fall.

Tree Project – Day 9

I’m running a little late today, well, for me, and it’s coming up for 9:30 and I’ve only just been out on the balcony to take my shot of the day. It’s cool but still, the air is heavy out there. They’ve forecast rain showers with possible heavy thunderstorms for late this afternoon. I believe them. The humidity levels are high already.
I’m sure my trees will enjoy the drenching after all the summer sun they’ve enjoyed these last few weeks, and take a rain-day in their stride (as it were).

Tree Project – Day 8

Tree Project – image 8
Today dawned, again, to slightly cooler temperatures after last nights thunderstorm blew through, and while there’s a thin veil of high altitude cloud, the day promises to be another warm one.
The tree, and friends, are beginning to show that Autumn is nipping at the leaves, and the Sycamore, heavy with seeds, looks like he’s just waiting for the right blustery day to shed its precious cargo. Like parachutists they wait on the cusp for the ‘go’ order!

Tree Project – Day 7

Tree Project – image 7
It’s Labour Day here today, happy Labour Day by the way. Once again, the morning came and went so this shot was taken at 12:30 … Despite the forecast for rain all day, we awoke to over cast skies, a very brisk wind, and high humidity. All of which makes the air feel like you could cut it with a knife. I wonder if trees like the humidity better than humans do? Shame we can’t ask them.

Tree Project – Day 6

Tree Project – image 6
As we have a very lazy Sunday and, given it’s the long bank holiday weekend, Monday being Labour Day, this one was taken rather late in the morning, 10:48 to be exact. And so, the sun has washed out the sky behind. And as this is my project to see how the trees weather over the season, I present the photos unfiltered and without tweaks of any sort. I think it makes for a more honest portrayal.

Tree Project – Day 5

Tree Project – image 5
Early evening on Saturday, day 5 of my Tree Project and, once again, the weather has been absolutely phenomenal. Warm, balmy and azure blue skies, I mean, what more could you ask for in an Indian Summer?
It’s 19:35 and the sun has gone down behind the tree of our local park, perfect for sitting out on the balcony with a cool drink, and reading a book.

Tree Project – Day 4

Tree Project – image 4
The cool overnight temps continue with this morning dawning chilly but to clear blue skies and a brisk breeze. Another beautiful day and, we are told, it will stay much cooler than yesterday. That’s fine by me, as this beautiful Indian Summer continues into its second month.
This shot was taken this morning at 8:28 to the sounds of sparrows squabbling in the privacy hedge.

Tree Project – Day 3
The contrast between one day and the next can be seen vividly after a storm. Yesterday it was misty and heavy and, by the late evening, raining. A marvellous lightning storm passed through so that, this morning, we woke to clear blue skies and a considerable drop in temperature.
How does that make the scenery look at 8:40 in the morning? Different. With that backdrop of clear blue skies, the leaves on the trees have richer looking and more vibrant colours. And yes, we’re just starting to see the effects of autumn creeping in, at the tops, with small sections turning a reddish hue.
Not long now before we see a marked difference.

Tree Project – Day 2

Tree Project – Image 2
Here is image 2 in my new Tree Project series. This one was take at 8:45 this morning, as a light mist hung in the stilled air. Of course, I know have to find out what kind of trees it is that I’m photographing, especially as the one to the right of my main tree is heavy with seed pods, all ready to drop.
