Rob Dircks is the bestselling author of Where the Hell is Tesla? and a member of SFWA (Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America). His prior work includes the anti-self-help book Unleash the Sloth! 75 Ways to Reach Your Maximum Potential By Doing Less , and a drawerful of screenplays and short stories. He's a big fan of classic science fiction, and conspiracy theories (not to believe in them, just for entertainment. Well, mostly. He's still on the fence about the Illuminati.)

When not writing, he's helping other authors publish their own work with Goldfinch Publishing, writing and designing for the award-winning ad agency he owns with his brother (appropriately called Dircks Associates), and generally doing what he calls "sampling

Good question. The Audible edition of Where the Hell is Tesla? is the complete compilation of Parts I, II, and III that were originally written and published as a trilogy of short stories/novellas. (That's why you might see Part I or Part II on Goodreads or Amazon.) I've begun to think about a sequel, as the novel and audiobook have gotten a much better response than I expected, but it's just an idea at this point. If I pursue it, it'll be after my next book, Shut Up and Run!, which I'm trying to publish by the fall.

And I've always loved sci-fi. And I knew at some point I wanted to write a comedy about a normal guy stuck in extreme circumstances.

So at some random point (probably at around 6am, in that weird half-sleep creative time before I realize I have to get the hell out of bed), they all came together, and I said "What if some slacker security guard discovers the lost journal of Nikola Tesla?" And boom. There is was -- Where the Hell is Tesla?(less)

"A modern Hitchhikers Guide

The irreverent sci-fi style of Adams, with a lot more swearing and Tesla as the interdimensional guide for the hapless hero. Not as profound or philosophical, but a fun read. Solid 3.5 stars."

Like an epic poem version of 1984.

The parallels to 1984 are striking, so I don't have a hard time believing, as I read, that this book inspired Orwell's masterpiece. They both are the story of a man and a woman, in love against all odds in a future,
