Public Schools in Seattle Offer Sex-Change Services to Children as Young as 13 – Without Telling Parents | The Gateway Pundit | by Mike LaChance

Public schools in Seattle have partnered with a group of ‘health centers’ to provide sex changes to children as young as 13 years old, for free.

The worst part is that parents can be left out of this process. There was a time not too long ago, when children were told that if an adult told them to hide something from their parents, that was a bad thing to be avoided at all times. Now schools are doing it.

This cannot go on for much longer. Parents are going to revolt, and who could blame them?

The Post Millennial reports:

Seattle public schools offer free sex change services to students as young as 13 without telling parents

The largest public school district in Washington State is referring students in the district to free “gender-affirming care.”

The Nova Wellness Center and the Meany Health Center offer “gender reaffirming care,” including hormone-blocking medications and referrals for sex change surgeries, which are available to middle and high school students in Seattle Public Schools (SPS).

According to documents obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE), the health centers are operated by Country Doctor Community Health Centers (CDCHC) which offers “no cost comprehensive, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming care, conveniently at the school.”

As stated on its website, CDCHC provides services to “transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse patients.”

Services include “gender-affirming medications (estrogen, androgen blockers, testosterone, etc.) and injection techniques,” “hormone therapy for adolescents and specialty referrals for younger patients as needed,” and “referrals for gender-affirming surgeries.”

Some reports claim that children as young as 11 are eligible.

Nebraska Woman Pleads Guilty to Helping 17-Year-Old Daughter With Illegal 29-Week Home Abortion, Burning Baby’s Remains | The Gateway Pundit | by Cassandra MacDonald

A Nebraska woman has pleaded guilty to helping her 17-year-old daughter perform an illegal 29-week abortion before burning and burying the baby’s remains.

Jessica Burgess, 42, obtained the abortion pills for her then-17-year-old daughter Celeste Burgess.

The mother pleaded guilty to providing an abortion after 20 weeks of gestation, false reporting, and tampering with human skeletal remains. Charges of concealing the death of another person and abortion by someone other than a licensed physician were dropped by prosecutors as part of a plea deal.

According to court documents, the mother had obtained the abortion pills online.

“After the teen aborted the 29-week-old fetus, the two burned the remains and buried them in a field north of Norfolk in northeastern Nebraska,” Fox News reports. “Authorities later found the burned fetus.”

In April 2022, police were told that the teenager had given birth to a stillborn baby in a bathtub at her home.

When interviewed by police, the teen said that she had a miscarriage and that her mother had put the body in a bag in the back of her van.

Investigators were led to the corpse, which they dug up and discovered had “thermal injuries” consistent with being burned.

At this point, police obtained a warrant for the mother and daughter’s Facebook messages, which revealed that they planned to perform the home abortion and dispose of the body and evidence.

A report from the New York Post explains that in one of the messages, Celeste Burgess talked “about how she can’t wait to get the ‘thing’ out of her body.”

Abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy have been illegal in Nebraska since 2010. In May, Republican Gov. Jim Pillen signed legislation banning the procedure after 12 weeks gestation.

Jessica Burgess is scheduled to be sentenced on September 22. Her charges are two felonies and a misdemeanor.

Celeste, who is now 18, has been charged as an adult and pleaded guilty to removing, concealing, or abandoning a dead body. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 20. She is facing up to two years in prison.

Tanner Barnhill, 22, also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge relating to him helping bury the baby on his family’s land. He was placed on probation.

Musk announces new AI company that seeks to “understand the universe”

Enlarge / Elon Musk speaks via video link at the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai on July 6, 2023.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk formally announced the formation of xAI, a company aimed at understanding “the true nature of the universe” that will draw from a heavy bench of industry veterans to take on OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT. Musk has criticized OpenAI publicly in the past.

The inception of xAI dates back to March when Musk and Jared Birchall, the operator of Musk’s family office, incorporated a business named “X.AI” in Nevada, according to Bloomberg. In keeping with the unconventional name, the company’s website domain name is “x.ai”. In April, reports emerged of Musk’s ongoing dialogues with investors from Tesla and SpaceX regarding the potential funding of a new AI startup. Around that time, we reported that Musk purchased thousands of GPUs from Nvidia for AI use.

The new company announced on its website that Musk will lead its core team himself, and it will rely on the talents of an array of AI industry veterans of tech giants such as Google’s DeepMind, Microsoft, and Tesla, as well as academic institutions like the University of Toronto.

A screenshot of the x.AI website on July 12, 2023. Enlarge / A screenshot of the x.AI website on July 12, 2023.

Ars Technica

That list includes Igor Babuschkin (formerly of DeepMind), Manuel Kroiss (DeepMind), Tony Wu (University of Toronto), Christian Szegedy (Google Research). It also lists Jimmy Ba, Toby Pohlen, Ross Nordeen, Kyle Kosic, Greg Yang, Guodong Zhang, and Zihang Dai. Previous machine-learning achievements by this group include the Adam optimizer, Batch Normalization, Layer Normalization, Transformer-XL, Autoformalization, and the discovery of adversarial examples that trick AI models into producing incorrect outputs.

Although an independent entity from X Corp, xAI plans to maintain close ties with other Musk companies like Twitter and Tesla to achieve its mission.

Earlier this year, Musk joined a chorus of researchers and tech industry luminaries calling for a six-month pause in the training of AI models “more powerful than GPT-4.” The seemingly contradictory move of creating a company that may accelerate the progress of AI shows Musk’s complex and sometimes mercurial relationship with a field he sees as potentially dangerous—but also impossible to ignore from a business standpoint.

Along those lines, xAI also announced that Dan Hendrycks, currently the director of AI alignment research group Center for AI Safety, will be advising the team. The Center for AI Safety was behind a second open letter published in May warning of “risk of extinction” from AI.

xAI plans to host a Twitter Spaces chat on Friday, July 14, giving the public a chance to ask questions. The startup also announced that it is actively seeking experienced engineers and researchers for its technical staff based in the Bay Area.

Do You Have A Natural Disaster Plan In Place For Your Pet? Here’s Your Guide

If a disaster strikes, the last thing you want is to be scrambling around last minute to help your pet. A natural disaster plan means making preparations ahead of time to ensure that all members of the family, pets included, are ready for anything. As experts in disaster relief, we turned to Hill’s Pet Nutrition to understand what it takes to make a plan, and we’re sharing the step-by-step with you!

1. Use a microchip and/or collar I.D.

Microchipping can help increase the odds of getting a lost cat or dog back. Whether a daunting storm is moving in, or someone leaves the back gate open, we’ll always feel grateful we took this simple step. But even with a microchip, make sure your pet has a collar I.D. with up-to-date contact information.

2. Know your pet’s hiding spots.

When our pets are scared or feel threatened, they often respond by hiding. But when disasters hit, time is of the essence. Know exactly where your pet goes when they’re scared (think thunder and fireworks), so that you can evacuate faster if need be.

3. Determine a pet-friendly place in case of evacuation.

Wildfires, hurricanes, floods—evacuation is sometimes the only way to guarantee safety. Make sure you’ve determined a pet-friendly place where you can evacuate to. Have a just-in-case conversation with a friend or family member who loves your pet and cares about their safety as much as you do.

4. Carry a picture of your pet in case you get separated.

As they say, prepare for the worst but hope for the best. In the event you’re ever separated from your pet, keep a picture of them handy. This can help rescuers identify and return your furry friend if they’ve gone missing. We’ll guess there’s no shortage of pictures on your phone, but throw a hard copy in your wallet just in case.

5. Keep a pet carrier or crate on hand.

When our pets are scared, they’re prone to run or react. Stow a pet carrier or crate to help you transport your pet more comfortably and safely. Pro tip: Line your carrier with a quick-absorbing pad in advance so you don’t have to worry about accidents.

6. Build an emergency kit for your pet.

Expecting the unexpected is smart pet parenting, and an emergency kit is the essence of preparedness. According to Hill’s Pet Nutrition, your emergency kit should include:

Democrats Starting to Panic Over Third Party Run of Far Left Candidate Cornel West | The Gateway Pundit | by Mike LaChance

Despite attacks from Democrats and the media, far left academic Cornel West is still running for president and now the DNC is starting to panic.

They are already bringing up the campaign of Green Party candidate Jill Stein in 2016, which some Democrats blamed for Hillary’s loss.

It’s so strange. Democrats claim to care about ‘our democracy’ so what’s the problem with other candidates?

The Hill reports:

Democratic jitters grow over Cornel West’s third-party bid

Cornel West’s third-party presidential campaign is stirring up unpleasant flashbacks to 2016 for members of the Democratic Party, some of whom are starting to grow anxious about the effect it could have on President Biden’s reelection.

West, a philosopher, Ivy League academic and leftist, recently announced he is newly registered with the Green Party as he seeks to challenge Biden and the eventual Republican nominee for the White House.

Now, some prominent figures supporting Biden, from the head of the Democratic National Committee to veteran campaign hands, are already sounding the alarm about his quixotic White House run.

“This is not the time in order to experiment. This is not the time to play around on the margins,” warned DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison, a close Biden confidant, over the weekend.

Seven years ago, when Hillary Clinton lost to former President Donald Trump, many in her orbit blamed Green Party nominee Jill Stein as a factor that contributed to her defeat. Heading into 2024, Democrats worry West could emerge as a similar spoiler by earning just enough votes to fracture the coalition Biden needs to win.

In addition to this, Democrats are also flipping out about the possibility of a third party run by a No Labels candidate. Could it be Joe Manchin?

SCOOP: Joe Manchin is headed to New Hampshire on Monday with No Labels amid speculation of a third-party challenge to President Biden. He and Jon Huntsman will headline a No Labels event in Manchester: https://t.co/gj3pmQfYm0

— Emily Goodin (@Emilylgoodin) July 12, 2023

For all of their talk about ‘our democracy’ over the years, Democrats don’t seem very interested in democracy.

At the end of the day, all they really care about is holding onto power.

Linux could be 3% of global desktops. What happened to Windows?

How can you argue against these numbers?

20th Century Fox / Aurich Lawson

According to one measurement by one firm, Linux reached 3.07 percent market share of global desktop operating systems in June 2023. It’s a notable first for the more than 30-year-old operating system, though other numbers in Statcounter’s chart open it up to many more interpretations. It’s either the year of the Linux desktop or a notable asterisk—your call.

As Statcounter explains, its numbers come from tracking code installed on more than 1.5 million websites across the globe, capturing roughly 5 billion page views per month. Statcounter says it does not collate, weigh, or otherwise adjust its data aside from correcting for bots and Google Chrome’s prerendering. Laptops are included in “desktop” because there is no easy way to separate them. And they’re subject to revision for up to 45 days after publication.

Five years ago, Linux made up 1.69 percent of Statcounter’s June numbers. In the year between June 2022 and 2023, Linux unsteadily crept up from 2.42 to 3.07 percent, jumping past 3 percent for the first time between May and June. If you regard Chrome OS as a Linux system, you could add that 4.13 percent and get to 7.2 percent.

Statcounter’s global desktop operating system market share figures for June 2022 to June 2023.

Statcounter

Statcounter’s US desktop operating system market share figures for June 2022 to June 2023.

Statcounter

Looking at the other numbers and locations from the year leading up to June 2023, however, and there’s a lot going on. Windows drops from 76.33 percent to 68.23 percent one year later, recovering a bit from a heavy winter/spring slump that took it down to 62.06 percent. Is Microsoft’s suspension of sales in Russia, starting March 2022, a factor? What else would explain a more than 14 percent drop in one year?

That something else could be “Unknown,” which ramps up gradually, then jumps and stays at 13 percent, just as Windows sees its slump. Tom’s Hardware suggests “Unknown” is likely “very new or very old versions of popular OSes,” which tracks. Linux isn’t gaining on the same kind of quirky curve, but more gradually.

Also growing gradually, but confidently, was MacOS, which Statcounter sees as growing from 14.64 percent in June 2022 to 21.32 percent a year later. Windows and Mac’s numbers in June 2022 account for 89.5 percent of desktops, leaving the remainder for Chrome, Linux, and the inconsistent “Unknown” to vie for a much lower third-place podium spot.

If you switch to a US-only view, Linux did not hit 3 percent, and in fact, lost a little share, from 2.14 percent to 1.96 percent. MacOS is gaining more consistently here, from 24 to 34 percent, and Windows dropped about the same amount, but from a lower level, to 55 percent. “Unknown” had a less wild ride in a US-only view but still fluttered upward in the spring, seemingly taking away from Microsoft and Linux.

Because we couldn’t help ourselves, we asked GPT-4 to graph out when, assuming a similar growth pattern from 1991 to 2023, Linux would reach 100 percent desktop market share. GPT-4 told us that, assuming linear growth, “which is a significant simplification and not likely accurate for the real world,” it could see the existing 0.096 percent-per-year growth rate average reaching 100 percent in the year 3033.

It’s worth noting that two other prompts resulted in answers of “January 2121” and “2002.” The Year of the Linux Desktop is in the past; it’s in the future; it’s at 3% or 7.2% or neither; it’s global or local; it’s impossible and inevitable. It never stops being fascinating.

I Tested the Dash Rapid Cold Brew Coffee Maker

As the saying goes, time is of the essence, which is why I’ve always gravitated towards buying my cold brew rather than making it at home. Can you blame me? Most methods for making DIY cold brew can take upwards of 12 (!) hours, which is certainly enough to justify a trip to the local coffee shop when you’re in need of caffeine, stat.

That said, cafe cold brews—and even the canned and bottled versions we so dearly love—can cost upwards of $8. What would our grandparents say? The solution: DASH Rapid Cold Brew Maker. Because spending 12+ hours waiting for your coffee to reach peak infusion feels exhausting, and this one can do it (“brew it”) in nine minutes flat. Oh, and did I mention it’s on major sale (nearly 40 percent off) for Amazon Prime Day? Run, don’t walk.

I took the machine for a whirl, and let me tell you: I’ll never make cold brew any other way again.

Why a rapid cold brew coffee maker is exactly what’s been missing in your life

DASH’s Rapid Cold Brew Maker is a compact, lightweight cold brew coffee maker that comes with a reusable filter and hopper (where the coffee grounds go), a 40-ounce carafe (which doubles as a storage container for your cold brew), and the coffee maker itself. It features three settings: mild, regular, and bold.

The speediness of the machine is due to DASH’s innovative, patented VacuPress technology, which uses a pressurized system to quickly and efficiently brew the coffee without applying heat. Once you piece the equipment together, making cold brew is simply a matter of adding coffee to the hopper and water into the filter—with just the press of a button, you’ll be on your way to a perfect batch of cold brew in under nine minutes.

Related Stories

My honest review

Let’s jump right in. Although most coffee pros will tell you that the best type of coffee ultimately boils (sorry) down to personal preference, research suggests that the darker the roast, the less acidic the coffee will be. As such, I settled for something in the middle and went for La Colombe’s Ever Wild Medium Roast, which has milk chocolate, nougat, and red apple notes.

rapid cold brew coffee makerPhoto: Maki Yazawa

Then, I used my favorite Proctor Silex Electric Coffee Grinder—it’s ideal for small batches and has a sound shield to avoid waking up everyone in the house early in the morning—to grind the beans coarsely. Once my coffee grounds were prepped and ready, I filled the hopper, placed it in its housing, and hooked it up to the machine. Next, I filled the carafe with filtered water and put it in the center of the machine—it should pop into place easily. Finally, the fun part: Choosing your brewing preference. There are three options to pick from—mild, regular, and bold—I went with regular and hit the start button to commence the magic.

To my amazement, the straw-like tube in the carafe began to siphon the water upwards into the coffee grounds compartment, leaving the carafe nearly empty. Then, as the coffee was infused after just a few minutes, it began to release into the carafe container once again slowly, but this time, instead of being clear H2O, it was the color of (you guessed it!) cold brew. Can confirm: It’s as easy as it sounds and took around nine minutes from start to finish. Once the coffee was ready to go, all I had to do was pull the carafe out of the machine (it has a handle) and pour it into a glass filled with ice.

rapid cold brew coffee maker carafePhoto: Maki Yazawa

Of course, I ended up with a ton of leftover cold brew—since chugging the entire 40 ounces would, without a doubt, send me into a caffeine-induced spiral. Conveniently enough, the carafe doubles as a storage container, so you can simply place it directly in the refrigerator to enjoy later on. (FYI, leftover cold brew can be stored in the fridge for up to 10 days.)

Finally, the taste test. The flavor is, dare I say, just as delicious as what I get at my favorite coffee shop, which is utterly shocking in and of itself. Upon first sip, I found that the cold brew was smooth and not very acidic—and paired with a splash of my favorite Nutpods French Vanilla Dairy-Free Creamer, it was sheer perfection. Plus, it was beyond refreshing on a hot summer day.

If all of this isn’t convincing enough, let’s do some calculations. A tall cold brew at a large-scale chain costs about five dollars and is roughly 12 ounces of coffee. This cold brew-making machine yields about 40 ounces, or in other words, approximately three tall-sized drinks. Considering I didn’t use more than three or four tablespoons of a less-than-14-dollar bag of coffee, this sounds like a great deal in the long run. But I’ll let you do the math.

Oh, and did I mention this machine can make cold-brew tea, too? *Mic drop.*

YIKES! FOX News Stock DOWNGRADED as Network Continues Struggling for Ratings Post-Tucker | The Gateway Pundit | by Mike LaChance

It appears as though Tucker Carlson is getting the last laugh.

This week, FOX News stock was downgraded by Wells Fargo, something that would have been unthinkable just a few months ago. The network was already struggling to regain its footing in the ratings after taking Tucker off the air and now this.

It’s important to remember that this was entirely self-inflicted. They did not have to do this.

Breitbart News reports:

The Post-Tucker Blues: Fox News Stock Downgraded as Viewership Nosedives

Wells Fargo downgraded Fox Corporation stock on Monday as Fox News’s viewership continues to decline.

In May, ratings for the news outlet took a significant dive after host Tucker Carlson left the network, according to Breitbart News.

“During its 8 p.m. hour, the network has dropped from a three million viewer average to a 1.65 million viewer average since the departure of Tucker Carlson,” the article said.

Now, Wells Fargo has deemed the corporation Underweight, and Yahoo! Finance reported Monday that analyst Steve Cahall said there were “ecosystem risks” surrounding the news outlet.

“Fox’s earnings are mostly Fox News earnings, and Fox News is facing viewership and share pressures. With ecosystem risks also elevated we find our estimate outlook more negative and below the Street,” he told clients.

Newsmax took this opportunity to gloat about their growth:

Fox News saw a significant ratings decline after its termination of its number one rated host Tucker Carlson.

The network has yet to reveal why it had removed Carlson from his prime-time perch.

Meanwhile Newsmax has seen a significant ratings rise.

Newsmax’s total day rating rose 71% as Fox News declined 15% in the same period, according to Nielsen.

In the key prime-time hours, Newsmax saw its audience grow 126% as Fox’s audience fell 21%.

This is a truly stunning development. FOX News was at the top of cable news ratings for so long, they thought that Tucker needed them more than they needed him. It’s looking like they were wrong.
