Even on my best skin days, my complexion has a tendency to be dry and dull. This means that after the two-week stint I’ve just had—which included a lot of alcohol, six late nights out in a row, multiple marathon training runs, and fall weather that can’t decide how it wants to behave—I should be looking like a shriveled-up raisin. How the Murad Cellular Hydration Repair Serum worksThe product’s powers all come down to its ability to fortify the skin barrier. Any dermatologist will tell you that a having strong skin barrier is the number one most important factor in keeping skin healthy—which is where the formula’s stacked (and science-backed) ingredients list comes in.
“The skin barrier is the outermost layer of our skin and our skin’s main protection from the elements and pathogens—it keeps moisture in and irritants out,” says Anna Karp, DO, a board-certified dermatologist. “The peptides in this product, specifically the biomimetic hexapeptide-9, help to restore the skin barrier by emulating barrier-enforcing peptides that reduce water loss.”

What happened when I tried itThe first thing I noticed about the Murad Cellular Hydration Repair Serum was, well, the smell. It definitely has a not-so-great odor, but considering some of the best skin-care products on the market literally stink, I chose to convince myself that this was a sign that this stuff is legit (I mean, I’ve never let the hot-dog water smell of SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic get in the way of my pursuit of brighter skin).

The texture of the product is essentially a milky serum—it’s viscous and opaque in a way that makes you think it will feel thick, but it glides easily into the skin and disappears immediately. Right after application, my skin looks plump and hydrated and stays that way throughout the day.
I’ve been using the serum for two weeks, and have noticed a visible difference in my skin. I can’t totally put my finger on what it is, but it just looks healthier overall—less dry and dull, more moist and even. After only five days, I stopped wearing foundation—which is pretty huge for me as a beauty editor… especially considering what my skin’s been through recently.
Going forward, I plan to add my usual dark spot treatment back into my routine (while this stuff helps with redness, it doesn’t do much for discoloration), but will definitely be keeping the Murad serum in my daily rotation for extra hydration. UC-Berkeley Law Professor Urges Employers Not to Hire His Anti-Semitic Students | The Gateway Pundit
A law professor at University of California, Berkeley named Steven Davidoff Solomon recently wrote a column urging future employers not to hire his anti-Semitic students.
The column was a response to pro-Hamas sentiment on campus at the famously left-wing California school.
This actually just happened to a student at NYU Law School who expressed support for Hamas and blamed Israel for the terror attacks and then lost a job offer.

UC Berkeley Law Prof Warns Firms Not to Hire His ‘Antisemitic’ Students
A UC Berkeley law professor is urging law firms not to hire his “antisemitic” students in the wake of the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel — which left more than 1,300 Israelis and citizens of other countries dead — noting, “When students face consequences for their actions, they straighten up.”
“Would your clients want an attorney who condones hatred and monstrous crimes?” corporate law professor Steven Davidoff Solomon wrote in an op-ed, titled, “Don’t Hire My Anti-Semitic Law Students,” published by the Wall Street Journal.
Solomon, who is also an adviser to the Jewish Law Students Association at the school, said, “Anti-Semitic conduct is nothing new on university campuses, including here at Berkeley,” adding, “if you don’t want to hire people who advocate hate and practice discrimination, don’t hire some of my students.”
The law professor went on to explain that last year, the student group Berkeley Law Students for Justice in Palestine asked other groups to adopt a bylaw that banned supporters of Israel from speaking at events and subsequently created “Jew-free” zones on campus.

You don’t need an advanced degree to see why this bylaw is wrong. For millennia, Jews have prayed, “next year in Jerusalem,” capturing how central the idea of a homeland is to Jewish identity. By excluding Jews from their homeland—after Jews have already endured thousands of years of persecution—these organizations are engaging in anti-Semitism and dehumanizing Jews. They didn’t include Jewish law students in the conversation when circulating the bylaw. They also singled out Jews for wanting what we all should have—a homeland and haven from persecution.
The student conduct at Berkeley is part of the broader attitude against Jews on university campuses that made last week’s massacre possible. It is shameful and has been tolerated for too long.
It’s time for the adults to take over, and that includes law firms looking for graduates to hire.
The campus left has really stepped in it with this issue. The mask has come off for all to see.

Israel is tracking Gaza’s cellphone data to inform military operations
The Israeli army is using Palestinians’ cellphone data in its military campaign to monitor the population’s movements within Gaza. Recent New York Times reporting describes this Israel Defense Forces’ initiative after being granted access to military’s surveillance system. The IDF claims the real-time monitoring of over 1 million Gazan cellphones is an attempt to reduce civilian casualties.
Responding to Hamas’s Oct. 7 terrorist attacks that targeted civilians and killed over 1,400, the IDF has conducted daily airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip. By Oct. 11, the Israeli Air Force stated it had already dropped a staggering 6,000 bombs, and on Oct. 10, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari reportedly said, “The emphasis is on damage, not on accuracy.”
The timing of the Times’ report and the journalist’s access may suggest an intentional recalibration of the IDF’s messaging and tone ahead of an anticipated ground offensive into Gaza. 3,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in the past 10 days, with over 500 killed today in a hospital explosion. Given the current situation in Gaza, what evidence shows the IDF’s expansive monitoring of Gazans is actually reducing civilian casualties?
Cellphone data in Israel’s military strategyOn Friday, Israel told the roughly 1.1 million residents of northern Gaza to evacuate to the south within 24 hours for their own safety. Not far away, in southern Israel, soldiers track the location data of over 1 million cellphones, displayed on a live map of the Gaza Strip. The soldiers reportedly use this data to monitor the movement of residents from northern Gaza to the south.
According to the Times, the data-tracking system showed that around 700,000 of the 1.1 million residents of northern Gaza had relocated to the south by midday on Monday. The Times journalist reported the IDF officers stationed to this control room were calling the remaining 400,000 residents individually to plead with them to evacuate.
The IDF argues this cellphone data is a pivotal tool to gauge civilian presence and adjust military actions accordingly — with neighborhoods turning green to indicate at least 75% of the population had relocated.
Besides the noble goal of reducing civilian casualties, a depopulated urban environment would likely benefit the IDF’s military operations. Conversely, Hamas is encouraging residents to remain in the north, arguing that nowhere in Gaza is safe. However, Hamas’s motivation for residents to remain is likely so their militants could more easily assimilate into civilian populations when necessary.
Implications and reactionsThe landscape of warfare has undergone a significant transformation with the advent of technology. In the Israel-Hamas conflict, the IDF’s data-tracking system highlights how digital tools are becoming integral to military strategies. Similarly, the war in Ukraine saw the extensive use of drones, reshaping reconnaissance and combat tactics.
While the Israeli military presents this data usage as a measure to minimize civilian harm, critics voice concerns. The displacement, though intended to ensure safety, has led Gazans into areas still vulnerable to airstrikes. Explore Kanazawa, Noto and Wajima region of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan
This week I’m off to explore a completely different side of Japan I’ve yet to visit, Noto, Waijama and Kanazawa in the Ishikawa prefecture.
Kanazawa is known for its rich cultural heritage, incredible cuisine sourced from local ingredients, and modern luxuries.
The city was founded during the Edo period by the Maeda family, which ruled over the Kaga Domain from Kanazawa Castle, which you can still visit to this day.
The family’s patronage of the arts and crafts led to the development of a thriving artistic community in Kanazawa, which is still evident in the city’s traditional arts and crafts scene.
The city is also home to many historical attractions, such as restored residences and districts, as well as modern museums.
Some of the top things to see and do in Kanazawa include visiting the Nagamachi Samurai District, exploring the Higashi Chaya District, and admiring the Kenrokuen Garden.
I hope this introduction gives you a good idea of what is in store for Kanazawa and the rest of the region, Let’s explore the area of Ishikawa prefecture.
Getting to Kanazawa from Tokyo, JapanIt’s rather easy to get to Kanazawa from Tokyo as you will find a direct Shinkansen connection from Tokyo station to Kanazawa and the train journey time is around three hours. A wonderful option if you happen to be using the Japan Rail Pass.
Alternatively, you can fly domestic to Noto from Tokyo Haneda domestic terminal with ANA Airlines and journey time is just under an hour. This way you can reach Ishikawa prefecture and explore Noto and Waijama on your way to Kanazawa. A great way to explore the rest of the prefecture.
The highlight of flying for me was whilst landing, you can start to see the rugged mixture of the landscapes from above.
The beautiful mixture of wild forests and coastal sea perfectly merge offering this unique scenic view that I’ve yet to see in Japan. Enjoy the journey to Kanazawa
Visit the Wajima Nuri Lacquer studio Visit Kirimoto
The first visit of my trip was to the Wajima Nuri Lacquer studio hosted by Visit Kirimoto.
Here you can visit the gallery and studio to learn about the process of lacquer and the many products that you can create using materials sourced from the local area.
This time-honoured tradition is a difficult process to maintain and at the Wajima Nuri Lacquer studio, they plan to keep this tradition going and protected for many years to come.
A wooden lacquered bowl can last for an extremely long period and the process of adding the different layers of Lacquer can take up to a year to complete.
The process is very time-consuming and requires a difficult technic that takes time to learn how to apply the method correctly. Over the years they have learned unique methods to create amazing designs and effects that also add practical elements to the items such as scratch residence.
What you are left with is a beautiful product that will last forever and be a prize item in your collection of household items.
It’s great to see this sort of craft being kept alive and still being in demand across Japan for the future to come.
If you’re passing by the studio, be sure to stop and have a look at the many incredible items they have for sale all using the traditional Lacquer technique.
Lunch at Wajima restaurant Tone
For lunch, you should stop off at Wajima restaurant Tone, a locally run restaurant serving dishes sourced from local ingredients.
The restaurant was set up by a local woman who wanted to create employment opportunities for themselves in the local area as most of the employment was heavily male-dominated fishing roles.
The set lunch menu was super tasty with a wide variety of dishes including puffer fish is a locally sourced fish and a unique experience to try whilst in Japan.
Very impressed by how tasty all the vegetables and fish served were and would return here again for sure.
Senmaida Rice terraces
Looking for a spectacular coastal view of Wajima? Be sure to head to Senmaida Rice Terraces for a wonderful observation point.
This landscape and popular photo spot changes rapidly throughout all four seasons so it’s a spot that you can come back to over time and the view will be completely different as the snow falls to the harvesting season.
Also a great spot with a gift shop where you can meet 92-year-old local women divers who collect shellfish from the sea each day. They serve great ice cream too!
Check out the Agehama style salt fields
Looking for something unique to the area? Be sure to head to the Agehama-style salt fields.
They’ve been harvesting salt here using traditional methods for hundreds of years.
Good luck carrying the seawater up the side of the cliff as this challenge is done manually with buckets and has to be done over 70 times per day to fill a salt field.
The salt is then boiled up in a big pot until it is crystallised into its final form.
The salt has a unique and interesting taste to it, almost smokey and is a brilliant way to enhance some of your cooking dishes such as tempura.
Be sure to purchase a bag of salt to remind yourself of your time in the area, an ideal local gift to bring with you back home.
Regional food tour alongside restaurant Tominari
It’s not every day that you get to go fishing with the chef of a Michelin-star restaurant, but that is what restaurant Tominari is all about.
Not only do you get an incredible eight-course meal in the evening, but you can also go out and source some of the fish whilst learning about the land and your surroundings.
First, we went to go and check the crab cages on the banks before heading out to the river stream to catch some fish with a net.
We learned that the chef of restaurant Tominari went to Osaka to learn how to cook and when he returned to his home town years later he noticed fewer fish in the river compared to his childhood and wanted to take action and do something about it to bring the fish numbers back to the area.
He set up some conservation events to help bring the population of fish back into the rivers.
Once you’re done for the day and caught enough fish for dinner you can return to his restaurant Tominari for an incredible Michelin one-star experience meal.
I love this dining experience as it was wonderful to try all the different dishes containing local ingredients sourced from the area such as wild mushrooms and fish that we caught earlier in the day.
Would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a top dining experience in the area with wonderful hospitality.

If you’re looking at visiting the Fish Port in Wajima early in the morning then Stay at Hotel Route Inn Wajima, which is within walking distance so you can easily make it in the morning.
Cosy rooms with access to a public bath and breakfast buffet, are perfect for your stay in Wajima.

I can’t think of many reasons why I would wake up voluntarily at 05:00 am but this is the time that the Wajima fish port kicks into action as locals prepare for the early morning fish auction.
Before it even begins, it’s already over, the auction is done rather swiftly and quickly and the regulars know and understand how it works.
Watching from the sideline it’s fascinating to watch as numbers are chucked into the air and buyers lock in the fish that they’re after or have been requested to fetch for a fair price.
Once the numbers have been called and sales locked in, all the fish are boxed up, packed away and off they go around the local town and prefecture to be sold elsewhere.
We caught one lady who got a good price on a large box of fresh shrimp. She was the first I spotted at the market and the first to also leave with her cart. The local fish auction is part of her daily routine and she knows what she’s after for her customers.
She splits the shrimp up into smaller pallets and sells them for 500 yen each, she even pre-peels some of the shrimp for her older customers who struggle to do it themselves. She says that she offers this service included in the price as they are frequent customers and good for business.
Around the corner, I spot another local, a cat patiently waiting for breakfast scraps to fall on the floor.
The fish auction is just part of a daily routine for some in the town of Waijima, it’s not even 07:00 am yet and the day has already started for some.
We head for Breakfast at Kawabata Ryokan and have served up breakfast sourced from fresh fish purchased from today’s auction.
Normally this amount of fish would be too much for me at breakfast time but how can you turn down the opportunity to try such fresh sashimi?
Kanazawa Daichi farm visit – Kahokugata
A unique experience to try in Kanazawa is to visit an organic rice field and try a rice harvesting experience like the one at Kahokugata Daichi farm.
The farm grows many of its crops using traditional organic methods such as not using any pesticides or chemicals on what they grow.
The rice farm is also home to a stork nest tower which recently has been successfully reintroducing new storks into the area’s wildlife.
Farming is a great way to connect tourism with local communities and gives you a chance to learn about how local foods are grown and sourced through a rice harvesting experience.
Go out to the field with your harvesting tools and collect batches of rice by clustering them together.
In the end, you have the opportunity to try the local rice by enjoying onigiri tasting. I tried a spicy pork one which was tasty.
Omichi market tour and Japanese cooking workshop
A great way to explore a new city is through its food. The perfect place to start in Kanazawa is the Omichi market which sells a wide range of fish, meat, fruits and vegetables.
To explore the market, I teamed up with a local guide who offers an Omichi market tour and a Japanese cooking workshop in her cooking studio.
This way you can walk around the market, learn from a local guide about local ingredients then head back to the studio with your local purchases and learn how to cook some new Japanese dishes. It’s a great way to explore and discover a new place.
I was most impressed by the mini eels that you can buy cooked on a stick and dipped into a sweet tangy sauce, you must try one if you’re visiting the Omichi market. Very tasty and only around 120 yen per stick.
Moving on to the cooking workshop part of the tour, it was interesting to learn about the base of Japanese cooking which is the broth called Dashi, the foundation of many Japanese dishes. Mostly built up of boiled kelp and fish shavings which was interesting to make.
I had the most fun learning how to make a traditional Japanese egg omelette which is a unique process in itself and can’t wait to buy a pan and try my luck when I’m at home.
Then, of course, the fun part, getting to eat all that you’ve cooked during the workshop for lunch which is a wonderful bonus.

I was most impressed by the clean and spacious design of the overall property adding a wonderful Japanese design element to your stay in Kanazawa.
Enjoy a dining experience at A La Ferme de Shinjiro
Enjoy an evening of wonderful food experiences at A La Ferme de Shinjiro. Located in the city of Kanazawa, they have a micro-winery in the basement and make their wines on-site.
The Restaurant has a one-star Michelin award and serves French-inspired dishes using locally sourced Japanese ingredients from the surrounding area.
Many of the ingredients are locally sourced, even from the Kahokugata farm that I visited earlier today.
Let your taste buds go on a journey of flavours that pair perfectly well with the wine that is sourced from the basement. The local crab was excellent and a must-try.
Traditional craft studio visit Nishimura Shoitsu
Experience a local traditional craft studio by visiting the Nishimura Shoitsu workshop and storefront.
Visiting Nishimura Shoitsu feels more like visiting a home than a store which has maintained an authentic Japanese home feel.
As you enter the shop front and take your shoes off, you’re invited into the welcoming room which feels more like a traditional Japanese tea room.
All items that have been created in the studio are carefully placed around the studio, all serving a unique purpose and function as well as being on display.
This is exactly how a customer would enter and be greeted into the studio during the Edo period and it was great to see the tradition still going to this day.
It was interesting to hear that broken items are repaired in the studio with pure gold to make the item unique again so it can return to serving its purpose.
Rather than replacing the item with a new one, the item can be repaired and reused and remain unique with its newly added golden design.
It was also wonderful to have a look at a 450-year-old lunch bento box and an old writing box as well as see first-hand how a repair is done on a customer’s item. Well worth passing by for a visit if you’re in the area.
Traditional Japanese lunch at Nishikawa
Why not enjoy a Traditional Japanese lunch at guesthouse Nishikawa which offers a wonderful set lunch using locally sourced ingredients from the surrounding area?
The highlight for me was the incredible view overlooking Kanazawa from the second floor as well as the well-maintained Japanese gardens that you can explore below.
Kanazawa castle Autumn light festival TeamLAB
A visit to Kanazawa wouldn’t be complete without first visiting the popular attraction, Kanazawa Castle.
One great way to experience the castle in the Autumn time is to book a ticket for the TeamLAB light festival that is held annually.
Walk around the grounds as the castle comes to life through a selection of light displays and art installations.
The evening offers hours of fun and interaction and is a unique way to experience the Kanazawa castle.

Reports: Biden Regime Missed Deadliest Attack on Jews Since WWII After They Diverted Assets Away from Middle East to Ukraine! | The Gateway Pundit
The Biden regime missed the dealiest attack on Jews since World War II after the administration diverted assets away from the Middle East to Ukraine last year.
Over 1,300 Jews were slaughtered last week by the Hamas attack on southern Israel. Over 120 Jews were taken hostage by the barbarians.
Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe joined Laura Ingraham on Monday to discuss the pogrom in Israel less than two weeks ago.
Laura Ingraham: I want to get into the value of our intel going to Israel at this point because there have been some questions about whether information that we had about a potential attack ever made its way to Israel, and whether we had sufficient intel on this. So there is some new reporting tonight that is claiming that the CIA intel on this Hamas attack never reached Biden, saying that they were dismissed as routine and “US intel agencies were focused on other international threats primarily China, Russia, and Iran. And this strategic shift in priorities may have contribute to this lack of attention given to intelligence on Hamas.”… So CIA might be trying to cover its you know what, John, but. they’re saying, we saw this was going to come and they were distracted with other priorities. It reminds me of what happened before 911.
John Ratcliffe: Well, I have talked with folks within the intel community presently that have indicated that unfortunately, the Biden administration may have redirected or retasked some intelligence assets away from the Middle East to Ukraine. And I don’t know whether that is the case, but I do know this, Laura. We both want the United States to be the ally that Israel needs right now. But what’s inescapable is the fact that National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan was on national TV doing a not so humble brag two weeks ago saying that the Middle East has never been quieter and he’s spent less time on those issues than any of his predecessors in the last 20 years. And that is a whiff of epic proportions because obviously, just two weeks later the Israeli people have suffered the worst atrocity since the Holocaust.
And so the role that the US should be playing, Laura, is that our best intelligence enterprise, our human intelligence, our signals intelligence, our geospatial intelligence should working hand in glove with the Israelis to support them in what they need. But I think there are real questions about our own intelligence assets and capabilities as directed by this administration.
As John Ratcliffe said – Another whiff by the Biden administration. And now there are 1,300 dead Jews and likely more.

Xiaomi announces it’s ditching MIUI for new OS
Xiaomi has announced that it’s dropping its long-running MIUI mobile operating system in favour of a new OS called HyperOS.
The Chinese manufacturer has announced that the new HyperOS will be rolling out globally with the forthcoming flagship Xiaomi 14 series, and that it will gradually replace MIUI across the board.
Xiaomi VP Alvin Tse has taken to Twitter/X to claim that HyperOS will usher in a “new era of Hyper Performance, fluidity and connectivity across Smartphones x AIoT”.

While it’s been around for 13 years, it’s fair to say that we haven’t always been the biggest fans of MIUI. Xiaomi makes outstanding and competitively priced hardware (see the recent Xiaomi 13T Pro for an example), but we always come tend to come away bemoaning the company’s custom UI.
While functional and highly customisable, MIUI is widely held to be “cluttered and frustrating to use” (to quote from our own 13T Pro review), at least in Western markets.
While HyperOS is evidently more than a mere rebranding exercise, we’re hoping that Xiaomi has heard the feedback and opted to trim some of the fat. If it does so, it could be in line to trouble the league tables outside of the markets closer to home where it’s already dominant.
This affects much more than the premium Xiaomi brand itself, of course. For several years now, the company has been the most prolific manufacturer on the budget phone scene with its Poco and Redmi sub-brands.
In other words, a brand new Xiaomi OS should be taken as major news for anyone intending to shop around for a new phone over the next year or so – regardless of budget.
Indeed, HyperOS will go way beyond smartphones, and will run on Xiaomi devices in the smart home field and beyond.
According to a Weibo post (via Android Authority) from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, HyperOS is “based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture, and preparing a public base for the Internet of Everything for tens of billions of devices and tens of billions of connections in the future.”
We should be getting our first proper glimpse at HyperOS when the Xiaomi 14 is launched over the coming weeks.

Blinken Announces Biden Trip to Israel on Wednesday | The Gateway Pundit
Joe Biden will travel to Israel on Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced after a marathon meeting (almost 8 hours) with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli war cabinet at the IDF’s Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
The White House followed with a statement that Biden will also visit neighboring Jordan afterward (statement at end of article.)
Blinken said the purpose of the visit is to “reaffirm the United States’ solidarity with Israel”, make clear Israel has the right and duty to defend itself and to send a “crystal clear message” to state and non-state actors looking to take advantage of the crisis to attack Israel: “Don’t.” Biden will also focus on securing the release of the hostages being held by Hamas, he will receive a “comprehensive brief” on Israel’s war aims and strategy” and how Israel’s plans will “minimize civilian casualties” and help get humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

Biden’s trip comes as the United States is sending more military assets to the region. One carrier group is on station in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea with a second under way from Norfolk headed to join it off the coast of Israel in about a week. Military jets have been ordered into the area and 2,000 Marines have been told to prepare for deployment (NBC News excerpt):
About 2,000 U.S. troops have been put on prepare-to-deploy orders for possible support to Israel, according to a defense official.
The troops are not being sent anywhere yet, nor would they necessarily go to Israel or Gaza. If they were deployed, they would go to a nearby country to be prepared to support Israel in the war against Hamas, the official said.
These who received the orders were already on 96-hour prepare-to-deploy status, which has now been shortened to 24 hours.
Late Monday Politico’s Paul McCleary reported more naval assets are en route, “NEW: Two US ships – USS Bataan and Carter Hall with hundreds of Marines aboard – are moving from Persian Gulf toward Eastern Mediterranean “in case they’re tasked with assisting” in US ops off Israel coast, defense official says. (Confirming original CNN report)…The ships could be joined by the USS Mesa Verde which is already in the Med. It left port in Spain Monday morning. Up to 2,400 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit could be off Israel coast in days.”

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will travel to Israel on Wednesday, October 18, to demonstrate his steadfast support for Israel in the face of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack and to consult on next steps.
President Biden will then travel to Amman, Jordan, where he will meet with his Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. He will reiterate that Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people’s right to dignity and self-determination and discuss the humanitarian needs of civilians in Gaza.

Biden Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently revealed that she has no concerns about the United States simultaneously providing funding for two new wars, one in Ukraine and the other in Israel.
This is utter insanity. The country is over $30 trillion in debt and Americans feel like they’re being squeezed from every side due to taxes and inflation.
Yellen isn’t concerned because she is a wealthy woman who is playing with other people’s money.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Monday the U.S. can “certainly” afford to provide military aid to Israel in its war against Hamas and Ukraine in its war against Russia.
“America can certainly afford to stand with Israel and to support Israel’s military needs, and we also can and must support Ukraine in its struggle against Russia,” Yellen said in an interview with Britain’s Sky News.
Yellen reaffirmed the U.S.’s support of Israel, while urging caution over civilian deaths as Jerusalem prepares for a major counteroffensive into the Gaza Strip.
“America has also made clear to Israel, we’re working very closely with the Israelis, that they have a right to defend themselves,” Yellen told Sky News. “But it’s important to try to spare innocent civilian lives to the maximum extent possible.”
Yellen said both Israel and Ukraine were a “priority” and the U.S. “need[s] to come up funds, both for Israel and for Ukraine.”

French President Emmanuel Macron is now calling for the deportation of all migrants with ties to Islamic extremism from the country following the recent Islam-inspired murder of a teacher there.
For anyone who has been paying attention, this move by Macron signifies a massive shift in thinking on this issue in France and Europe.
The city of Paris has been the site of numerous riots over the last few years, many of which stemmed from migrants who came to France from Islamic countries.

Macron Calls for ‘Ruthless’ Deportation of All Migrants with Ties to Islamic Extremism from France
French President Emmanuel Macron called for all radical Islamist migrants residing in France to be removed from the country in the wake of the suspected Islam-inspired assassination of a middle school teacher on Friday.
President Macron has tasked Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin to carry out a “ruthless” examination of the files of those who “carry hatred and terrorist ideologies” over the next 48 hours in order to remove foreign-born Islamists from France, Le Figaro reports.
It comes after Dominique Bernard, a middle school teacher in the city of Arras, was allegedly stabbed to death by a suspected Islamist named Mohamed Mogouchkov. The Russian-born suspect was reportedly on the country’s extremist watch list — referred to as having an “S file” — prior to the attack and had also reportedly been subject to a deportation order in 2014 that was successfully quashed by appeals from pro-migrant groups.
Darmanin has said out of the over 20,000 S files — not all of which remain active — there are at least 489 extremist foreigners who are considered to be a danger to the country residing in France.
Macron sounds like a liberal who has been mugged by reality.

Major Foundation Cuts Ties With Harvard Over School’s Response to Hamas Attack on Israel as Professors Scramble to do Damage Control | The Gateway Pundit
Last week, following the attack on Israel by Hamas, student groups at Harvard immediately signed a letter blaming the whole thing on Israel, an act many of these students already regret.
Harvard’s president released a statement condemining Hamas later, but the damage was already done.
Now a major foundation and funder, the Wexner Foundation, has cut ties with the school.

The Wexner Foundation is ending its relationship with Harvard University.
The non-profit informed the Ivy League school and its board of overseers of its intentions to do so in a Monday letter. It is closely connected to billionaire L Brands founder Leslie Wexner and his wife Abigail Wexner, whose names appear on the letter as chairs of the foundation. L Brands once owned retail outlets such as The Limited, Victoria’s Secret, PINK, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel and Lane Bryant.
The couple created the Wexner Foundation, which describes its focus as being on developing Jewish and Israeli leadership, decades ago…
“We are stunned and sickened at the dismal failure of Harvard’s leadership to take a clear and unequivocal stand against the barbaric murders of innocent Israeli civilians by terrorists last Saturday, the Sabbath and a festival day,” the non-profit said.
Meanwhile, professors at Harvard are scrambling to distance themselves and the school from the letter that was signed by the student groups.

Amid mounting criticism of Saturday’s anti-Israel statement by 35 Harvard student organizations, dozens of the university’s faculty signed their names Wednesday to a letter condemning the Hamas attacks and denouncing the student groups’ message.
“Hamas planned and executed the murder and kidnapping of civilians, particularly women, children, and the elderly, with no military or other specific objective,” the professors wrote. “This meets the definition of a war crime.”
Research Professor of Government Harvey Mansfield, psychologist Steven Pinker and Harvard President Emeritus Lawrence Summers were among those who added their names.
“The Israeli security forces were engaging in self-defense against this attack,” the signatories wrote.
The last week has been a major wake up call for many Americans on how radicalized our colleges and universities have become over the years.
Hopefully, this will spur some much needed reform in higher education.
