Seth knew there was more to these crimes and why they were being committed. He just needed to find a way to get her to trust him.
Indigo Sin has given us a wonderful story. Action (criminal/passionate), danger, romance with characters you will quickly become invested in. A story about the damage people do to each other. What happens when the damage turns you into someone you never thought you would become? Is there a chance the damage can be undone or will you always be damaged? Pick up this book and find the answer *wink*

This is the first book of this genre, Dystopia, I have read. I will let you know if you’re new to this type of story, or not, you may want to read it slowly/carefully so you don’t miss anything. There is a lot going on in this story. It is told from the present but has a lot of flash backs, which are needed to explain what is happening. If you are like me and not a fan of that type of storytelling, stick it out, it is worth it in the end.
We start out this story meeting Liam or Tellman as some call him. He is a gambler, con man, risk taker who is always reaching for something he thinks is better. Liam has been doing whatever is necessary to survive in the Colony, an underground world. Now he has the chance at a better life if he passed the test to become an Enforcer with the Eletes. He can have better accommodations, food, no water rations and a better future. Only the price he would have to pay for having that life is one he isn’t sure he wants to pay.
Riley helped Liam out of a bad situation in the New York section eight years ago. He continues to help him since they have been in the Colony as well. Riley finds himself doing things he doesn’t want to do to prevent Liam from having to do the one thing he really can’t or won’t do. Riley has a plan to get back to the New York section but before he can tell Liam what the plan is he slips into a coma. Riley has been asleep for the last five years.
This story is of a dark place not just the world they live in but the dark place that resides in people; whether they are from the Colony, the outside, human, elementals or imps. Ashley Forge did a good job of building the world in her story and has given us great characters that you will become invested in. This story did leave me with a few questions. I hope I will get my answers in book to of this series “In Riley’s Slumber: The Makeshift Soldier II” expected release date April 15th 2014

Upon reading the blurb for this book, I admit I was anticipating a contemporary F/F romance. It was. It is. But it is primarily an Urban Fantasy, and a pretty good one at that. As with most UF, there are undertones of paranormal romance, but the primary focus is a good old-fashioned contemporary suspense, nicely situated in beautiful downtown WTF.
Chief protagonist James, is a female firefighter and the tale opens during one of her recurring nightmares about a young girl, Lily, whom she saved from a house fire a couple of years back. The story then meanders for a few chapters, through the obligatory “set-up” of what is James’ present life and the characters most prominent in it: her best friend and fellow firefighter, Max, and her Battalion Chief-boss and Is-She-Or-Isn’t-She-Lover, Addy. Daily hum-drum passes the time. More dreams occur, and finally, my woo-woo radar starts to go off…at about the same time as James’ does. Cue the life changing fire alarm…
Without divulging details, the Gifts that James, Lily and Addy possess, unknown to those ungifted, are slowly revealed to the reader, though it is Addy’s background that is the fodder for the subsequent, and occasionally graphic suspense. Of course, a resolution occurs and the baddies are dispatched, but destroyed? Tune in, same bat-channel…
Post trauma, James, Addy and Lily commit to their family unit, with a heart-breaking grasp at the HEA they both seek, and deserve…and it is here that the Urban Fantasy and Romance genres part ways…
Forever Burn was a very satisfying 4-Star read. I think, as UF, it was a well-conceived and executed story with many openings for continuation. I have to admit, my preconceptions about the intended genre were an initial stumbling block. I was confused as to where I was, particularly given the “advertising” I’d received with it…I also admit that, once I figured that out, I had to go back to the beginning and re-read the book, approaching it from the correct mind-set/angle to fully appreciate the journey.

QUANTUM MATES: What Torin Wants by Talon ps
Okay so let’s be honest here, how many of you have ever watched a Star Trek or Star Wars film and not enjoyed it?
Chances are you have watched enough sci-fi films or TV shows to develop a few favorites. Why? Because we are all Trekkies in a way. I met a man once who said he hated Sci-fi yet watched the Science Channel like it was going out of style— Geek-trekky. Odds are the only real hater of sci-fi is the CEO for the Sci-fi channel, since he’s the reason my two TV favorites are off the air —Farscape and Firefly. What I have to say, might not be nice at all, so we just won’t go there.
But, aside from the one sci-fi-traitor-weirdo, we all have our sci-fi fantasies. And surely, once upon a time in a galaxy not too far away, someone said, “Hey, let’s get all the Trekkies together and have a party!” That party just happens to be the largest convention party there is— Comic-Con.
Want to know what the second largest convention party is? The Hookers Ball.
Yep, let’s face it, Sex sells, always has, always will, but then so does Sci-fi. From Roy Rogers and H. G. Wells’ first radio airing of the War of the Worlds to today’s newest hiccup in the space-time continuum that lets us watch good ol’ Bones, Spock and Capt. Kirk do it all over again.
So what happens when you put them together and somehow get Arkillian chocolate in your edible nipple peanut butter?
Not A Damn Thing— it seems the Trek lovers and Sex-ma-bomb fans fizzle out when you try to meld them together.
Huh? It worked for Reese’s Peanut-Butter-Chocolate Candy— so why not for sex –n- sci-fi? One of the most memorable Original Star Trek episodes was of Jim gettin’ hot and heavy with some green skinned vixen. So why doesn’t it spark fan’s attention in literature? One particular Review- blogger {nope, don’t remember the dude’s name} once blogged about it. He said it was impossible. In fact, he was rather livid that an author had the recent audacity to even give it a try with her latest release and that we, as writers, should just knock it off and quit trying. Why? Well he did go on to explain—
Science Fiction, more often than not, takes place in space, on an alien world or with visitors from space on ours. And in order for that to happen vividly in a book, a considerable amount of world building is required. You also have to think outside the box and stop being human in the process. That includes language— habits— creature features— even the most mundane things like how to measure the passing of a day— that is, if you really want your alien world to be believably alien. For the Erotica writers, this is often just too much work that takes up precious space that could better be used for well— more sex. And two things in the erotica genre industry may have lead to this short-sighted transfusion.
Before, you had Romance and then you had Smut-reads, neither came anywhere close to touching. But over the years, those two have slowly migrated towards each other to what is now known as Erotica. But to the average reader, what some may not realize is, what the publishers say qualifies as an Erotica Submission. For starters, one of the qualifications states that erotica must have a sex scene in every chapter. In volume, that’s 60-80% sex for 40-20% story content. In a sub-genre of Sci-fi, your alien world is doomed to fail. You can still say you are there, but your poor readers are going to be cheated of the visualization you could have put there, if your publisher had just let little Pope John Pole the III rest a bit.
The same goes for the Science-fiction reads that attempts to have a little Adult Content spice. The very wording of the sub-genre has already deflated my poor Zipper Wookie. Let’s face it, while most of the time, the Geeks and Trekkies can paint up some fantaz-mic alien worlds; usually, they lack the steam and hip thrusts to make it orgasmic without sounding clinical, or it’s so detail strangled we blinked and missed it. I have even witnessed some sad attempts where authors have borrowed scenes from romance novels that was alien to the alien world.
Mr. Review-blogger summed it up that, a book is either:
Balls to the walls, page-flipping full of the most awesome, never-wears-out, and can-cum-more-times-than-super-man sex to leave the readers a little on the moist side until their next break time. But not enough sci-fi to even realize you left earth and bedded a hunky Alien creature who, for some reason, is named Luke.
OR
It has plenty of Sci-fi extra-terrestrial stuff, nevertheless, Mister six-foot-seven-manly-man Xexior Styxx is too busy battling the space invading Glumantersfouxs while planet hopping in his chromed-out space wheels, that he forgot he’s supposed to do something utterly euphorically amazing to the saved Earthling with his deep-veined purple-helmeted spartan of love.
So what to do if you want smexy sci-fi?
First, accept the challenge.
Then, abandon all rules about percentages and integers of just how much sex is enough sex, and last, stop thinking humanly. What you will get is a sweltering love story that just happens to be out in the middle of nowhere, called Zero-Space.
That’s where Quantum Mates: What Torin Wantsbegins.
For authors wanting to try a hand in this, first just suffer that this is going to be a book of love, and like all other red-headed-step-children out there, don’t expect the fans to come rushing in. While folks love Sci-fi and they love being turned on, they still aren’t too sure about you getting your cosmic peanut butter in their euphoric chocolate.
For readers, it just doesn’t get much better than this. Being able to actually close your eyes and take a step off the planet and into the unknown, with humanoids easy-enough to imagine, plus a few bonus alien-enough characters that are not so easily envisioned. Yet, so well written in detail, you’ll still feel a closeness to them. And remember when Star Trek’s Jordy kept rambling on about tachyon energy dust particles? Yeah, admit it, you didn’t have a clue what he was talking about. When you meet the unusual symbiotic-twins TorinLee Riley in Quantum Mates, they will have you utterly and equally lost when they start calling out quantum physic mathematic formulas in order to save the day. However, don’t worry, while it was necessary for our galactic geniuses to sound smarter than the average college graduate, you’ll relate more to First Lt. Raffe Landau. He maybe one hell of a pilot, but he’ll be right there beside you scratching his head, too.
In the creation of Quantum Mates: What Torin wants, paired with the sci-fi element was of course lots of action, to get the thrill seekers zinging in their seats. However, there’s a love affair developing from its very start between Raffe and Torin. Due to a strange, molecular level mutation, TorinLee suffers, physical contact is not only forbidden on the space station, was believed to be impossible for both males. Finding out they were physically compatible was only the beginning of their journey. There’s as much heat and romance as there are alien world stuff right here in one book.
So, if sex-in-space was what you have been dying to find for your Trekky horniness, you’re in for a treat, because the sex will have you bouncing in your spacesuits wanting to play with your Ba-donk-a-dunks.
But watch out, the ending is classic sci-fi stuff, not the typical HEA ruled by erotica.
Quantum Mates was Author Talon ps’ baby. A die-hard sci-fi fan, he was determined to prove them all wrong. Had Captain Kirk and his green skin lady been allowed to get it on without censorship it would have gone down in history as the sexiest scene of trekkie-eroticism of its time. That is unless Doctor had ever gotten in touch with his gaydar… that would have been way hotter. Nevertheless, It was Talon’s goal to prove that Sex and Sci-fi make great book-candy. While QM does have a part two in the works, Author Talon P.S. passed away in the summer of 2012, his writing now in the hands of his twin, Princess S.O., with a promise she’d finish them before she joined him.

This is Gen’s story.
Gen has everything she needs. She has a great job working for Marguerite Winterman at Tea Leaves. She waits tables along with her friend Chloe and takes care of the books for the business. She has a nice little house that she is buying and continuing her education. She’s doing it a couple classes at a time. She wants that bachelor’s degree. She doesn’t see her mother much anymore but that isn’t a real problem for her. Gen has Marguerite and Chloe, her chosen family.
Gen is in her thirties. She has loved and lost a few times, including two marriages that not only failed but took a toll on her emotionally and spiritually. So she has settled, becoming content with being by herself. She is even planning on adopting a black and white tom cat from the shelter she volunteers at that is starting to like her. She belongs to a craft group that has a craft party/pot luck the first Thursday of every month. What more could she want? Well that is what she thought until the morning Lyda Coltrane walked into Tea Leaves to speak to Marguerite.
Disconcerting, this is the word Gen uses to describe her encounter with Lyda. She couldn’t have picked a better word. Lyda is owner of Growing Things Nursery. Lyda is one of those women who can capture the eye of any male or female with her dark red hair that has golden highlights, fair skin and the way she moves you just know she takes good care of the complete package she is. When Marguerite arrives and is told her friend is waiting for her, Gen is given a reprieve and sent out to the storage shed to get more tea leaves. But the odd encounters don’t stop there.
On Gen’s way back in to the main building she runs literally into a human wall. “Hello Noah.” Tan skin, well-muscled, dark hair and rich brown eyes and strong hands that keep her from tumbling from the collision. As Noah recovers from his shower of tea leaves and Gen refills the bowl they have a few minutes to chat. Noah works for Lyda at the nursery when he isn’t teaching sailing at the college: the same college where Brendan, Chloe’s husband teaches. Noah and Brendan became friends after meeting in a club in New Orleans. Brendan also helped Noah get the teaching job at the college. As Gen and Noah reach the stairs to enter Tea Leaves she does something that surprises her. She reaches out and touches Noah in kind of the same way Lyda touched her. Can this day get any stranger?!
If you know anything about Joey W Hill’s writing/story telling the answer is a resounding YES! Gen’s safe quiet world is about to collide with her friends and loved ones world of BDSM. Mistress Lyda needs a place for her sexy submissive Noah to stay for the weekend. She is having a girl’s weekend with some of her college friends and no boys are allowed. Gen is remodeling her kitchen and she needs help with the labor. So when Noah is offered to her for the weekend, is it a match made in heaven or is it a match made in some place a little less tame?
Although this is Gen’s story, no good love story is one sided. This is also Noah’s story. He is going to fire your fantasies and rip your heart out. These two are going to make you laugh, cry, pull your hair out and need to turn up the A/C. We are also given more of Mistress Lyda’s story as well. Will these two break the cold Mistress we met in Branded Sanctuary or will her strong heart and spirit save them all? Or will Gen be the one to save them? Maybe it is Noah who saves them. But nothing can happen until Gen makes her decision. You are going to love this story. Enjoy!

>> And is it true you are a writer of *wegs eye brow* naughty (romance) things?
Oh Yes! Hang on a minute while I dig up some “evidence”—this is a bit of a dream one of the guys in Electric Candle has: The man morphed into Forge, arms wrapped around Blair’s shoulders, bulging thigh muscles pressed against his. He plunged deep into Blair while Blair arched his back and dug his heels into the back of Forge’s legs.
Turning his head to nip at Forge’s ear with sharp, pointed, deadly teeth, Blair bit down and whispered, “Is that all you got? Harder.”
Forge growled, tightened his hold as his hips pumped with such power the bed banged repeatedly against the wall.
>> Where were you on the night Colonel PeaCOCK, got laid with the candlestick (that’s California talk for boytoy) in the billiards room?
I get asked that a lot actually. I’m afraid due to planetary security if I tell you I’d have to kill you…or worse revoke you’re gay romance reading privileges. Let’s just say I was immersed in a dramatic Emergency.
>> Everyone knows I’m a rule breaker. And for me Fantasy is a huge format to explore that. However, for some writers they can’t bring themselves to break some Taboos, out of fear, it will act as a reflection of their real life. What about you? What are some of the Taboos you just find irresistible in the fiction world. Are there some Taboos you won’t venture into, even in the fantasy world?
*Puts on serious writer hat* I don’t give much thoughts to taboos that aren’t harmful. I’ve written books with a slave as a main character and he is proud of what he is. In Electric Candle my vampires aren’t undead, they have soul mates but don’t always like them and love a good burger. I am a believer that a good story shouldn’t fit into a mold. A good character, major or minor, should be a mix of good qualities and bad. He (or she) should strive to be three dimensional. Taboos aren’t always for the better good and aren’t always something for us to shy away from. Nothing in a story should be done for the simple reason of ‘that’s how it’s always done’. Taboos are simply a recipe for boring. (not talking about violent crimes, pedophilia or snuff – remember we’re here for fun)
>> If you could truly escape the everyday life and live inside one of your books, which one would it be and what character would you play?
I love stories with lots of action and adventure of all sorts. I do live inside my books and in the characters’ heads in order to write them. It is impossible for me to pick just one…I love and want them ALL!
>> If life is like a box of chocolates, what flavor is your favorite book?
One with action of all sorts, car (or wagon) chases, bar fights and lots of myth and mystery. I’m a big scifi fan, the future and what ‘could be’ fascinates and inspires me. Scifi does contain the word if.
>> You just finished a hard writing crunch and well… you’d probably be feeling good if it weren’t for the fact your eyes are cross-eyed, your fingers ache, your wrist feels like it’s on backwards and your butt feels like a flat tire. What’s your secret weapon for unwinding from all that?
Walk the dog, work in my garden or spend some time outside at night looking at the stars. All of which usually leads to another plot that simply must be told RIGHT NOW.
>> Okay, hypothetically speaking (for book research of course) what is your favorite sexual position or sex-play? (Remember, this is purely hypothetical *winks*)
Ladies never kiss, tie-up, or switch and tell.
>> Fact or Fiction: Tell us the craziest place, timing or position you… errr… your characters have ever done it. And then tell us the real truth…
On a horse, in a church and there was one time involving a St Andrew’s cross… well not at the same time.
>>Is there a support group for people addicted to your books?
If so I’d wish they’d invite me to a meeting. I’ll bring brownies.
>> As an author of erotica, do you find you are more of a sex expert then say, some talk show sex experts? And could you give us a sample of advice?
I think most people are more of an expert that a talk show expert. We’re all certainly more realistic about sex. My advice, do what makes you comfortable, feels good and leaves you smiling when it’s over.
>> I spend so much time at home writing, I hardly ever get out of the house. So my characters are my closest friends. Has your family caught on to the fact that when you talk about so and so at the dinner table that it’s really just one of your characters and not the guy next door?
No, and don’t you dare tell them. They think I have such an exciting life with many, MANY interesting friends.
>> Boxers, Briefs or going Commando?
These briefs are sort of cool.

>> Let’s face it, life can be hysterical. And as story tellers, we get ideas from the craziest things. Whether it be a song, a book, a movie, something someone said or you just happened to be lucky as hell to have witnessed something. What’s the craziest thing you ever came cross that spurred you head long into a new story? And where is it hiding now?
I’d have to say the theme song from a 1960s western and that book is almost ready to come out of hiding as book #5 of my Sentries series.
>> The kids, family and the neighbor’s dog are gone. It’d be a holiday man and you’ve planned a naughty orgy. Which of your naughty writer friends have you invited? And who’s on top? And when will we see that book?
