Friends at the Gym

Once a week, I meet with Carol and Bradley at the gym where we ride bikes and visit.

Carol is the human and Bradly is her Hobbes. Except, Carol knows her teddy bear is not real and he’s okay with that.

My Good Neighbor

A neighbor recently learned that I’m an author. I learned he’s an avid reader.
“I can’t live in the same apartment building with an author and not at least buy a book,” he said.
He bought the first book of my trilogy, took a picture of me with my book and posted it on his FB page.

Once finished, he took me out for hot chocolate, then asked, “Why are earth colonists’ skin maroon? Why do they have babies in cocoons? Why is Jessica (the main character) so unhappy?”

I told him he’d have to read the rest of the trilogy to find out. I promised him a satisfying ending to all his questions.
His FB page inspired this post. Thanks, Micah.

You can find my books on Amazon:

Rose Garden New Growth #5

My Rose garden is coming along nicely.

I turned it into a mini fairy garden, though there are no fairies in the garden.

The smaller rose sprout is still holding, but making little improvement.

This sprout is growing as if it’s spring time.

Up Close Photos #5 Fall Trees

I’m used to stopping for one or two quick photographs. Now that I’m less in a hurry and taking several photos of one subject. My hope is to see more and take more interesting photos.

I like the beauty of dark branches peaking through the leaves.

Such beautiful color. My only regret is the leaves fad too quickly.

As I walked around the tree, the wind picked up and I was able to take this photo.

Cloudy day. Windy walk.

This week Cee’s photo challenge is Any which way with Autumn or Spring Colors in the photo.

A friend and I went for a walk on a neighborhood path, across a lake by a boardwalk. On our way back to the car, we walked to a peninsula on a different lake. After two miles, we were wind worn.

My Rose has Roots #4

My rose cuttings are coming along nicely. Since one of them was growing a beautiful set of roots, I decided it was time to go to Buckman’s Home & Garden Nursery and speak to a rose expert, Emily.

Long story short, I spent $42 on gardening stuff. Nothing in gardening comes in small packages.

Emily says there is the possibility I can keep my roses as house pants and not move them outside, but we will have to wait until spring for the final decision.

There are several steps in growing a plant from a twig to a bush. First it goes in water and when the roots are two inches long, plant it in Super Moss for three months, then transfer it to potting soil. This is the simple version to the complete process. But so far, things are gowning well.

New book Description

I read Bryan Cohen’s book How to write a Sizzling Synopsis. Authors put too much information in their book descriptions. We want to start with the background information, introduce all main characters and explain what will happen to them. We need to simplify by only introducing the main character.

I was guilty as charged. I have rewritten mine. What do you think?

Jessica Hewitt fled from her life and everyone who knew her. She joined the WSC Space Force and volunteered for the Akiane Project.

The round trip to Pegasus Colony on the planet Akiane in the Pegasus Constellation will take thirteen years and four months, plenty of time for her head to clear and for people to forget her. Once she returned home, she could start over anonymously.

She did not expect to be commissioned as Earth’s first Galactic Ambassador to a colony isolated from Earth for over 300 years. Jessica’s mission is to reunite Pegasus Colony with its home planet.

If she succeeds, she will become a worldwide household name, not just on Earth but on its four Solar Colonies as well. So much for anonymity.

If she fails, she will be responsible for Earth’s first galactic takeover.

My Rose Garden #3

My Rose Garden is now a Rose Fairy Garden. No, I didn’t buy these. I used to have a fairy garden, but is now boxed up. I dug around until I found these pieces.

This is Koskalyn the Dragon Storyteller. She reads books to her friends about creatures that everyone know are not real that are called humans.

Time on the Computer

I googled, “Why am I so tired after I’m on my computer?” I learned being on the computer tires people out, especially someone like me with low energy. The article suggested getting up every 20 to 30 minutes and move away from the computer for a few minutes.

I settled on two 30-minute sessions in the morning, which works well for me. Of course, I thought I was the only one until I saw an interview with an author. Sorry, I don’t remember her name.

She is a lawyer and doesn’t have all day to write, therefore she sprint writes and does two 30-minute sessions a day. One might think, that’s not enough time to write a novel. If I remember my numbers correctly, she is a successful author of 63 thrillers.

I felt vindicated because I too thought an hour a day was not enough time to write, but it was the best I could do. Now that I know I’m normal, I’m good to go.
