What Silly Thing?

I just had it in my hands!

Have you ever had something in our hands and absentmindedly put it down while thinking of something else? And lost it? I have.

For a couple of weeks, I’ve had random thoughts for an up coming project. As the thoughts came, I wrote them down on whatever piece of paper was handy, so I don’t forget. Now those notes were somewhere in my work area.

Before they completely vanished, I decided to gather them together and put them in one place.

As I was looking for them, I began to clean. My work area is not too messy, because I periodically organize my two desks. Therefore it wasn’t a big clean up job.

During the clean up, I found the notes on three different pieces of paper. Since I was on a roll, I put the notes aside, and kept cleaning.

By the time I’d finished, I’d lost my notes!

I looked all over for them but couldn’t find them. “But I just had them in my hand! I haven’t even left my chair! They have to be here!”

I leaned back in my chair, took a deep breath, started a systematic search, and found them. I’d put the notes in front of my computer, and had put another pile of stuff on top of them.

What silly thing have you lost, and where did you find it?

The Great Spring Meltdown

Things are warming up in my part of the world. If I may paraphrase the Wicked Witch of the West from the Land of Oz, “We’re melting!”

Good Morning

This morning, I woke to a Robin chirping nearby. A good sign that Spring is coming.

I’m told that he is nesting and calling for a mate to join him. Does anyone know more about this?

Here is a photo from awhile ago. I took it outside my bedroom window.

November had a bit of a bump

I didn’t get to finish my version of November NaNoWriMo, writing every day for a month. I got a virus that slowed me down far longer than a normal cold and was sleeping more than writing. I survived, in case you’re wondering.

Before the virus, I was spending less time on my computer because time on the computer can be stressful, at least for me. I’m recovering from Adrenaline Fatigue, which means I’m tired a lot and the computer wasn’t helping. I would work for a couple of hours then need to take a nap. I didn’t understand why I could be so tired from just sitting. Now I know, it was the added stress.

Funny thing, I spent so much time away from my computer sleeping off the virus that I’m feeling much better. I’m not nearly as tired as I used to be. Some days, I feel normal, then I do too much and get tired again.

But, what used to take me two weeks to get over now takes me less than a week, which means I’m getting better. It’s been a long, slow process, but I feel like I am finally coming out of the woods.

November is NaNoWriMo

November is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, https://nanowrimo.org/. It’s a challenge to all authors to write 1,667 words a day, equaling 50,000 words by the end of the month. That’s not a novel. Novel is 80,000 words, but it is a good start towards a novel.

My friend Shawn Robertson asked if I would participate this year. My first thought was no. I didn’t want to start a new project.

But 50,000 words is 50,000 words. I could use this month to finish writing the first book in my fantasy series. I can write 1,667 words today, easy. Then I remembered, I’m limiting my time on my computer for the sake of my health. I now write for one half-hour twice a day.

I can’t write 1,667 words in an hour. I can’t type that fast. I can’t think that fast. I almost said no again.

Then I realized, I might not be able to write 50,000 words in a month, but I can commit to an hour every day for a month and see how far I get.

Therefore I will be participating in this year’s NaNoWriMo, and depending on my energy level, I’ll see how much I accomplish.

Who else is participating in NaNoWriMo 2022?

Nice Weather

After several days of chilly weather, a good part of USA and Canada warmed up for a nice weekend.

On Saturday, a friend and I took a walk in a nearby park where my friend found a cyclopes tree.

On Sunday, I sat by the lake and read a Veronica Speedwell Mystery.

First Winter Walk

I know it’s not winter yet, but it should be. This morning was sunny, windy and 35F. A prefect day to put on my winter coat and go for a walk around the lake. It won’t be long before my walks will mostly be at the gym. But for now, I’m still enjoying the outside.

My New Office Continued

After almost a month limiting my time on the computer, I’m feeling amazing better. I’ve lost a few pounds, my blood sugar is lower, and I sleep better at night.

I plan to continue to limit my computer time for the foreseeable future.

If you’re like me and think you could do with some time off from your electrical devices for the sake of your health, I say give it a try and see how you feel.

Your health is far more important any computer.

My New Office

I’ve been recovering from Adrenal Fatigue seemingly forever. I’ve changed my lifestyle, got rid of stress, do easy exercises, eat healthy, and yet, I’ve not been able to conquer it.

Last week, I learned that sitting at my computer for hours a day is stressful for my body. I turned my computer off, took a stroll around the lake, and designated a swing as my new office.

My new office.

My neighbors.

This is me relaxing while hard at work.

For the last week, I’ve spent very little time on my computer and am feeling much better. I wish I’d known this at the beginning of summer I’d have a great tan by now.

But cooler weather has arrived therefore, I’ve moved my office to my couch. My other office is at the gym were I alternate between exercising and writing.

Do you have a relaxing or special place to work?
