Number one? No way!

I haven't written in a while. So much going on. But I had to make a quick note of something amazing!

My book Dream Lover is available for free today. The promotion started yesterday. Well sometime yesterday morning I noticed my book was #10 on the Best Sellers list in the Top 100 Free books in the African American genre!

I couldn't believe it!

What was even more unbelievable was throughout the day, but book rose in its position-until it ended up in the number spot!

The book was also ranked as #5 on the Best Sellers list in the Top Free 100 Free in African American Literature!

I'm honored and excited that so many have downloaded the book. My goal from the beginning was to simply get this book out there for people to enjoy! I hope people are actually doing that. And I would appreciate reviews! So far I've gotten good reviews on the book which is also exciting!

Taking Chances is coming, I know I've been saying that; as a wife and mother of three things get hectic. But we've just got to get the cover finished.

I'm hoping by mid March Taking Chances will be out!

Happy Reading!

Sharing with You What Inspires Me....

"How do you do it?"

That is a question my husband constantly asks me whenever I read him my stories or will talk and brainstorm with him ideas for an upcoming novel.

"How do you seamlessly create entire worlds with people and emotions?"

Usually I reply with something like "How do you create worlds online out of codes of 0's and 1's?" :-)

In truth, it flows so naturally it's kind of hard to explain. It's like planting a seed and watching it grow after being nurtured. But really everything around me is some form of inspiration: reading, music, my own love life.

I think of things like "What if.." and then I am able to create those what if's in my writing.

With all that being said, I've decided that I would like to share things around me that inspire things in my writing. It could be a song, or an outfit, or even some kind of scent.... :-) For those of you who have read Dream Lover, you know how integral the black orchid was in the story. It filled his subconscious, making him dream about it, eventually leading him to his true love.

I will be making these posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so keep watch!

Until next time!

Happy Reading!

Checking In

It's been awhile I know. I've been super busy helping my husband get ready for his fights and taking care of the family.

Plus I think I just got burnt out. Writing that much in the timeframe I did was a lot. But I'm back to reading and the itch to write again.

Hopefully I will get the next book out sooner than later. So much is still going on. My husband (aka cover artist for my books) is in the middle of training again. And we are making plans to go on a cruise after his next fight. We will be ringing in the new year at sea. We are both very excited about it.

Well that's all for now. I will make sure to check in again soon.

Until next time.

The Process has Begun Again!

I have started writing my 6th novel. I'm very excited. So far I've gotten through the prologue. I was battling with the female characters name, but I think I've got her. She's going to be a firecracker. Most of the women I write about are pretty tough, but this one is going to be something else I think.

I'm always amazed at my process. But I feel completely accomplished when I'm finished. It'll be a year in November from when I started back working on Dream Lover and Taking Chances. I never would have thought I would come up with and complete three more stories after.

I haven't written anything since late July early August. Been doing a lot of reading. A LOT! But I've been enjoying it. Just got done reading another great Brenda Jackson book. While I've enjoyed my little break, I'm ready to get back it. I'm still in the early stages, trying to feel my way through the story and see where I want it to go. Lots of brainstorming...

Well all, I will keep you all posted on what's going on! Look for Taking Chance to come out sometime in October or November. It's probably leaning more towards November. My cover artist/husband is training for a fight and so we will work on it more after it.

Until next time....

Mark Your Calendars! Free Download Day!

Today I received my first payment for my debut novel, Dream Lover. It was much, but I felt completely accomplished. Actually, I felt completely accomplished when I published the book. Getting paid was just an added bonus.

So....

In honor of my first payment, I'm making tomorrow a free download day! That's right, Dream Lover will be available to download for free!!

I know it may seem counterproductive, but in complete and total honesty, it's never been about the money. It was always about finishing this book and being able to share it with the world. And I've done that.

I appreciate everyone who has and will download this book! You guys are awesome.

Have a great extended weekend!

Checking In!

Hi all!

It's been nearly a week since I blogged. This week was the first week back to school for my girls. My oldest is a freshman and the middle is a first grader. Time sure does fly. Before I know it, my two year old will be getting ready for school.

Not much has been going on the writing front. I typed out a few lines for my sixth book, but it's on the shelf for now. Won't be for long though.

I've been enjoying so much reading lately. I loved Treasure Me, by Christine Nolfi. I'm looking forward to its follow up book, The Second Chance Grill, coming out soon.

Last night I finished Love Unfinished, by Darian Wilk. I was completely captivated the entire time. I couldn't put it down.

Right now I'm reading Married by Mistake by Abby Gaines. So far it is very interesting. I'm looking forward to what unfolds :-)

I've downloaded so many books lately (mostly free!) that I was scrolling through my books on my kindle and discovered that I had a book by one of my favorite authors, Brenda Jackson, that I had yet to read. I'm totally looking forward to reading Inseperable, but right now I'm enjoying all of the new authors I'm discovering and enjoying. I sure hope there are some out there discovering me and enjoying my book as well :-)

I'm still brainstorming the cover for Taking Chances and I'm getting ready to do another proofread/edit run through. Hopefully, it will be released in the next few weeks. Whenever I do release it, I will be having another free download day(s) for Dream Lover.

Stay tuned!

Happy Reading.

Explore! Get Out of Your Reading "Comfort Zone"

I've been reading African American romance novels since I was 14. And that is about 99% of what I've read ever since. Of course I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon and the 50 Shades, but other than that that's all I read. Or read (past tense ::winky face::).

I'm reading the most intriguing novel right now that has a little adventure, a mystery (which I use to love as a child) and of course a little romance brewing. Can't steer too far away lol.

Anyway my point is don't get stuck in one genre. There are so many out there to explore. Yes, I have my favorite authors and I will remain loyal. But I've been reading books by indie authors like myself and my eyes are being opened to a whole new world.

For some reason, I don't know why, I boxed myself in with one particular genre of reading. But now I'm reading outside of the box and find myself enjoying it immensely. But I suppose that is the beauty of being a true bookworm isn't it? No matter the genre, if it's a good book, you will get sucked in and captivated each and every time.

Happy Reading

P.S. The book I'm currently reading is Treasure Me by Christine Nolfi. I also follow her on Twitter.
