Why I Write?
Hello lovelies!
Chelle Ramsey has tagged me in an awesome blog hop and I'm so excited to be participating in it! I will also be introducing another author at end so make sure you check it out
1. What am I working on/writing?
I'm currently in the process of edits on my latest novel, Just One Kiss. It is my fifth novel and second in the McAllister Family Series. Hopefully by the time this blog comes out I will be finished! Lol
I've put my current work in progress on the shelf. It is the eighth novel and fifth in the McAllister Family Series.
2. How does my work/writing differ from others in its genre?
I really hope that my readers can feel all of the emotions I try to convey through my characters in my books. My goal is to make the readers feel a mix of emotions right along with the characters in the story. I want the characters to seem like people the readers can relate to in real life.
3. Why do I Write What I Do?
I've always found it difficult to express myself or relay how I'm feeling about something vocally (I hated public speaking in school). Writing has always been my voice. It's my way of escape, its purging. It's cathartic. I don't know what I would do if I didn't write down all of the ideas running around inside my head.
I believe that it was inevitable that I end up writing romance. I have always been a hopeless romantic. I've always loved to write. When I began to read romance novels in my late teenage years, at the time I don't think I knew I would end up writing it, but I loved the world's that I found myself engrossed in those books. I started writing at a young age and I always knew I would be a writer in some form, but over the years my passion for both writing and reading romance eventually seamlessly merged into one passion.
I am absolutely in love with how I am able to create whole new worlds, with people that readers connect with and feel as if this person is someone they actually know.
4. How does my writing process work?
The process for each story is different. I look at everything around me in life as inspiration, so an idea can hit me any where at anytime. For example, with Dream Lover I had an idea of what would it be like to have best friends evolve into lovers. I generally just take notes when thought come to mind. My thoughts don't always come in order. Sometimes I will write full scenes and have no idea how or where that scene will end up. Eventually all of my ideas kind of just come together into a full story. After I'm finished I usually don't touch it for awhile. My latest book Just One Kiss was actually written nearly two years ago and now I'm finally dusting it off and preparing it for my readers.
Sot that is it! And now I would like to introduce my friend and fellow author LaQuette!
A native of Brooklyn, New York, LaQuette spends her time catering to her three distinct personalities: Wife, Mother, and Healthcare Provider. Writing: her escape from the everyday, has always been a friend and comforter. She loves writing and devouring romance novels. Although she possesses a Masters degree in English Lit, she'd forego Shakespeare any day to read something hot, lusty, and romantic.

New Teasers
Good evening all!
Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am! I'm sitting in a Starbucks destressing, drinking a sweet tea/lemonade and eating a croissant. This is the only "Me Time" I get. About 30-45 minutes of completely peace while my husband and son are at wrestling practice on Fridays.
Wrestling practice was cancelled last week.
So this is much needed. Long overdue in fact.
I think as mothers we need to find that time where we can be alone with our own thoughts to unwind. Without some sweet minion knocking on the door every five minutes asking for something. I know that is highly difficult, but I think for everyone's sake it should be a requirement! Lol...For the peace of mind of the entire household...
But I digress! Today I'm going to be sharing with all my three teaser pics for Just One Kiss.
Now I may be a little biased (cough* I made them myself *cough), but I think not only are they totally awesome, but they are smokin' HOT!
So without further ado, here we go!
Well, what do you guys think?
Let me know! And don't forget to sign up for a reminder email about release day! Right there, over to the right of the screen!
Happy Reading!

Book Review: Love, Chocolate, and Beer by Violet Duke
Hello all!
Time for another book review! Today I'm sharing my review for Love, Chocolate, and Beer by Violet Duke.
That is quite the title for a book isn't it! But wow what a great book it was! I love a good series about families. I also love a good series about small towns. Love, Chocolate, and Beer is the first book in the Cactus Creek Series.
This was the first book I've read by Violet Duke. I came across her on Facebook promoting a book title Love, Tussels, and Takedowns. Naturally, being a lover of stories that involve MMA and romance, I was intrigued. I've pre-ordered my copy and can't wait to get it in June. I also purchased a boxed set of some of her other books that were on sale (The Nice Girl to Love Series). I'm always adding to my never ending TBR pile. When Love, Chocolate, and Beer went on sale (and still is on sale by the way for .99 cents over at amazon!) I picked it up!
Side note: There is a prequel to Love, Chocolate, and Beer and it is now at the beginning of the book. I would highly suggest reading this first and not skipping right to Love, Chocolate, and Beer. While you won't miss anything really if you skip it, you will gain so much more insight. So here's my amazon review:
Love, Chocolate, and Beer
This was the first book I've read by Violet Duke. I thought it was everything a great romance should be. It was full of humor and emotions.
Brewmaster Dani, ends up in a heated competition with chocolatier, Luke on which is more romantic: Chocolate or beer. A seemingly realist, when it comes to the truth about love, Dani makes a valiant effort to prove to Luke, a hopeless romantic, that chocolate is just a typical cliche when it comes to romance. Meanwhile, Luke pulls out all the stops in order to show Dani what it's like to truly be romanced. What ensues is an adventure in love, pain, secrets revealed, and the consequences of it all.The story also goes in great detail about both the world of chocolate and beer! I found myself not only wanting to find a place that sells chocolates as decadent as the ones described in the story, but also very different flavored beers that piqued my non-beer loving interest. There were also side stories that were decently weaved in as well.If I truly had a complaint, the only thing I would say is I wish there was more detail in the story of Luke and Dani's friends, Quinn and Rylan's budding relationship. I would have like to know more about how them as a couple and how they were their for each other through some rather tough situations.Even still, the story was great and I can't wait for Love, Tussels, and Takedowns!
Ok! I don't know how I forgot to mention this in my review, but this book has some sweet heat. Miss Duke has a way with words when it comes to those steamy scenes. She's very subtle with her wording, but the end result packs almost as much heat as other more descriptive writers. She lets the reader use their imagination!
I know Miss Duke has mentioned that some of the other characters will be getting their own stories, but I hope she does at least a short stories on Quinn and Rylan's romance to expound on it! I was so hoping for more of them. I hope you pick up her books! They're great!
Happy Reading!

P.S. There are also two more Catcus Creek Novels available for pre-order: Love, Exes, and Ohs and Love, Sidelines, and Endzones (I LOVE her titles! LOL)

Book Review: Lovers at Heart by Melissa Foster
First of let me preface this by saying I am suffering from a massive book hangover!!!
If you've never experienced one of these, it's one of the best yet exhausting feelings you'll ever have if you are a book lover like myself.
I started this book a couple of weeks ago, but had to put it aside and focus on my own writings. I picked it back up last night and had to FORCE myself to go to bed at four in the morning. I was up again at eight and reading again.
Today I'm sharing my amazon review for Lovers at Heart by Melissa Foster. Those of you who know me by now, know that I absolutely LOVE a family book series (Francis Ray's Grayson series, Brenda Jackson's Westmorelands and Steeles, Chicki Brown's Staffords. Oh! Don't get me started, oh don't get me started! I have a ton of them!) Well I have officially added a new family to my collection! The Bradens!
While this story definitely has a few heated scenes (and oh my those scenes are hot), at it's core, it's a story of forgiveness, healing and of course love. But not romantic love, but the love of this family who as dealt with the loss of a family member for many years and how they are still coping with that loss and how it affects their relationship with one another as a family.
It's definitely one of those stories I love the best. Those stories that make you heart pound, take you on a roller coaster of highs and lows. Makes you want to laugh, cry and even scream at certain characters to get it together!
I've gone on and on! Here's my "official Amazon review"!
A Tale of Wonderful Love
This was the first book I've read by Melissa Foster, but it will certainly not be the last. You have fan for life now Miss Foster!
Treat Braden and Max Armstrong originally meet at a wedding. Although their first encounter is brief, their attraction toward one another is strong. But a misunderstanding on Treat's part causes Max to take off and not look back.
The story actually picks up six months after the wedding. Treat hasn't been able to get Max off of his mind since the wedding, so he decides to head home to try to clear his head.
He is surprised when one of the first people he runs into is Max. And he realizes his feelings for her have not diminished over time and are seeming to grow stronger.
Max is just as surprised to see Treat as he is to see her. But she can't fight whatever is drawing them together anymore than he can. While they attempt to make a go of their relationship, they both have demons they need to face in order to truly make things work. While Treat is finally ready to tackle them head on, Max is a little more gun shy and it takes her a while to figure things out.
This story not only tells the tale of Treat and Max, but there are subtle background stories of Treat's younger siblings; as well as the issues the Bradens have to deal with as a family.
This story is filled with a little bit of everything! Sweet romance, amazing heat and lots of drama!
Looking forward to reading her next book in the Braden series, Destined for Love.
A few more things:
1. This book is FREE! So you need to hop your butt over to amazon now and pick up Lovers at Heart!
2. Lovers at Heart is book 1 of 6! So you know I will have them all eventually! Lol! It is also book 4 in the Lovers in Bloom series (I also have Book 1 in the Lovers in Bloom Series, Sisters in Love. I haven't read it yet, but I'm eager to. It is also FREE).
3. While they are a series, this one doesn't end in a cliff hanger and it can definitely be read as a stand alone and you won't miss anything if you read them out of order, I don't think. You will definitely get your HEA at the end (that's Happily Ever After, just in case you don't know, but I bet you did!) Check out all of Melissa Foster's books on Amazon! I know I will be!
Well, I'm off to find my next read!
Happy Reading!

Author Spotlight! LaQuette
Hello! Welcome my first author interview!
I met this lovely lady on Facebook and now I am pleased to have her on my blog talking all about her and her writing! She has even shared an excerpt from her book titled My Beginning! Please welcome LaQuette!
I am a professional student so to speak. J When I initially went to college, I became a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I have worked in this field for 15 years. When my children were born, I decided to take time off to focus on my family. This provided me with the opportunity to focus on my other passion, writing. I have always had a burning desire to write, so I went back to school to take a few creative writing classes to help me learn how to improve my descriptive writing skills. One class turned into a Bachelors and Masters degree in English. I use those skills to serve as an adjunct in a city college teaching developmental writing to academically disadvantaged students from diverse populations. I know, my life is insane. J
Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured? I have two sons. One is just shy of his fourth birthday, the other is about to be eighteen months. There is no structure to my day. J Ray Charles said, “The nighttime is the right time.” That holds true for my writing as well. When my husband and kids are sleeping and the house is quiet, that is the best time for me to get my three thousand words for the day in.Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?I hate outlines, they make me feel as if I’m suffocating—too constraining. Yes, I do have some very general ideas of things I want to happen as the story is unfolding, but I never sit down and plan exactly where and when those things will develop. I usually just figure out a plausible way to weave together the major things I want to occur. What is the hardest thing about writing?Description. I always want to make certain that I my audience can really picture the events in the book as well as read them. I work very hard at trying to paint a picture with my words. Telling the story is easy, making certain my readers’ senses are engaged in the story, well that is extremely difficult.Do you ever get writer’s block? No. Or maybe I should say I haven’t yet. I usually suffer from moments where I feel like I’d rather read than write. When I feel that way, I sit down and read as many books as I can. When the feeling passes, I go back to my work. As long as I’ve got music, I’ve got words to put on a page.Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block?Change of scenery. Sometimes walking away from something is the best way to get a fresher perspective. If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?This book is the first in the Trinity series. This series follows three close friends and co-workers who grew up together in Brooklyn, left Brooklyn for Los Angeles to get away from their respective emotional demons, and ten years later have to return to Brooklyn to face their pasts and fight for the single most significant thing in their lives—love. Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?I read way too much. Every spare second that I’m not with my family, writing, or doing something I absolutely have to do, I’m reading. Thank goodness for ebooks, because my husband forbade me from bringing another hardcopy into my ridiculously large collection of romance novels already. For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paper/hard back books?I prefer having a physical book in my hand. However, I cannot deny the convenience of reading ebooks. I almost exclusively by them now. It’s not because I no longer have use for the physical books, it’s just that I have small children who have a predilection for tearing paper and drawing on things they’re not supposed to. I can’t have paper anything around unless I want it destroyed. Not to mention, traveling with an e-reader is so much easier than lugging physical books. What books are you reading at present?I’m currently reading, Daylight Again (# Hell or High Water Series) by SE Jakes. SE Jakes is one of those spicy story tellers I mentioned earlier. JHow are you publishing the book and why?I chose to self-publish this book for two reasons. The first was that I was very unaware of the publication process. I researched submission guidelines for several traditional publishers, but my work never seemed to quite fit what they were looking for at the time, or they were looking for particular subgenres in romance that I wasn’t interested in writing. Second, I wanted to remain in control of the way my story was told. I wanted to decide what kind of story, and what elements to mix in it. Self-publishing allows me to tell the story the way I want to tell it. Maybe as I grow as an author, and become more aware of the traditional publishing business I might just attempt to get my stories released by a traditional publisher. How do you relax?Reading, writing, and music. Nothing else make me feel mellower. What is your favorite kind of music? If you hit play on your music right now what would start playing (no cheating don’t hit “next”)?90’s R&B, New Jack Swing. I miss Teddy Riley. Everything that man produced was a hit. I’m still bopping to all of the artists he produced. What is your “wish I was writing here” spot?Italy. Reading all of those Harlequin novels that were set in Europe always made me ache for Italy. Before I close my eyes to this life, I must see Italy! What is your favorite quote?“The giants upon whose shoulders I stand.” –Isaac Newton. This quote just wraps up why I am able to do what I love and follow my dreams. What advice would you give aspiring writers?Learn your craft. Writing workshops will do wonders for your natural abilities. Learn to research. Find out how the real-life application of what you’re putting into your fiction actually looks like. Understand that revision just makes it better. Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?Yes, when is that new Té Russ book coming out? I need something good to read in my e-reader catalogue. Lol! Just One Kiss will be out June 20, 2014! How can readers discover more about you and your work? That’s easy, open my book. About the AuthorA native of Brooklyn, New York, LaQuette spends her time catering to her three distinct personalities: Wife, Mother, and Healthcare Provider. Writing: her escape from the everyday, has always been a friend and comforter. She loves writing and devouring romance novels. Although she possesses a Masters degree in English Lit, she'd forego Shakespeare any day to read something hot, lusty, and romantic.
Book DescriptionGenesis Lawrence left her home and family in Brooklyn, New York ten years ago and never looked back. When you've spent your entire life protecting yourself from the ones that are supposed to love you, running to the other side of the country seems like the best idea ever. Emotionally bankrupt, she begins rebuilding her life after failed familial connections and a broken marriage leave her too raw to ever believe happiness exists for her. Work as a Physical Therapist in her rehab clinic is all she knows and all she wants.
Drew Marrack has spent the last year of his life trying to end the soul-searing pain of losing his mother by any means necessary, even if that means ending him—literally. After a tragic accident and a resulting disability that devastates the tattered remnants of his world, only one name can give him a brand-new start: Genesis.
Pain, heartache, secrets, and tragedy from the past bring them together, and then fight to tear them apart. Is new love strong enough to give them the fresh beginning they both need, or is this simply the beginning of their end?
Excerpt from My Beginning by LaQuetteGenesis noticed something different about him. Usually Drew was very calm and jovial around her. He rarely made things intense, but tonight there was a sense of power behind his eyes. When she finally reached him, he said nothing; he simply wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. Before Genesis had a chance to react, he lifted one hand from her waist and secured it in her loose locks. His mouth fastened onto hers making her moan from somewhere deep within her.Her arms lifted of their own accord and latched around his neck drawing her closer into his web. Drew tore his mouth away from hers and found the tender spot between her neck and her shoulder. He must have sensed her legs giving way because the next thing Genesis knew she was hoisted up with her legs around his waist. Drew was holding her so tightly she could feel his heart beating as if it were in her own chest.Genesis was drifting in the sea of pleasure Drew was skillfully creating. She was almost completely immersed in the passion Drew was inciting when she heard a familiar voice in her mind. No man will ever want you, you’ll never be able to please any man, you’re pitiful. She pressed herself deeper into Drew’s body, hoping his possessive kisses would chase away her tormentor’s words. She was holding onto Drew tightly, but the incessant sound in her head—first a small whisper, now a full grown scream—began pulling her attention away from Drew. You are wasting his time; you can’t give him what he needs. Sooner or later, he’s going to toss you to the side too.She pulled herself out of Drew’s arms so quickly that she almost fell backward into the water. Drew reached out and swiftly steadied her on two feet.“Drew, I can’t do this,” she said as she tried to step away from him, but he pulled her back into his embrace.“Why not Genesis?” he asked as he moved a hand back into her hair, trapping her against him, forcing her to look up into burning chocolate eyes. “Don’t stand here and tell me that you don’t want me, because I can feel your desire for me,” he pulled her head roughly to him, taking command of her lips, forcing them open and sweeping his smooth tongue inside her mouth. “Hell,” he breathed against her lips as he took one final lap before tilting her head to looking into her eyes, “I can taste it.”He was correct, she couldn’t deny she wanted him, but as her mother had told her often, she was never too old for her wants to hurt her, and not having Drew would certainly hurt her.“Drew, a sexual liaison between the two of us would not work, it would blow up in our faces, and I don’t want to cause friction between you and my brothers.”“You think this is just about sex to me Genesis?” he asked, a hard edge coloring his voice. “Understand this; I am a world renowned recording artist. I could have a different chick in my bed every night of the week if I chose to. If I just wanted a piece of ass, all I would have to do is send a one-word text and I would have free pussy waiting for me to fuck at my leisure.”His harsh tone made her close her eyes while an unexpected shiver crawled up her back. Why did the thought of him sleeping with someone else suddenly make Genesis cold?“I don’t want to just have sex with you; I want to be with you”Her unused voice cracked as she said his name. “Drew,” she swallowed, attempting to lubricate the walls of her dry mouth and throat, “you don’t know me well enough to want to be with me. I am the woman that has been closest to you in proximity during a very difficult part of your life. It’s only natural that you would have a confused affection for me. It will wear off in a matter of time.”There it was, her rational brain had finally decided to put in an appearance. That line sounded almost believable to her.“Bullshit,” he said. The lines of his face became sharper as he spoke. “You want me just as much as I want you. Why are you fighting me?”He still held her tightly, her skin burning where his hands made contact. Why the hell was her body reacting to this man’s anger this way? She should be enraged, she should be mad as hell and telling Drew where the hell he could step off. Instead, her skin was humming with anticipation of his touch with a growing hunger that was making the walls of her womb clench. Dammit!“Drew I am a medical professional who has been made responsible for your care. She kept her eyes closed as she spoke, hoping to get her body back under her control instead of his. “It is unethical for me to allow anything romantic to transpire while you are under my care.”Drew shook his head. She knew her reason was valid, she knew her words gave the impression of respectability coated in veracity. But even though she was doing her best impression of reliable, above-board medical professional, Drew’s tight features poked gaping holes through her perfectly painted picture.“You’re lying,” he said through clenched teeth. “This has nothing to do with medical ethics Genesis, tell me the truth, or I’m going to keep coming after you, and eventually you will give in to me. This thing between us is too strong for you to ignore it forever. We’ve been dancing around this chemistry between us since my mother’s funeral; I’m tired of playing the ignore-it-and-it-will-go-away game. Either you come clean with me, or I’m just going to wear you down.”Drew pulled her close to him and planted his mouth atop hers once more. She began to lose herself in his kiss; just as before she crumbled in his arms becoming almost as fluid as the water surrounding them. When he was satisfied that he had proven his point, he ripped his mouth away from hers leaving her mouth searching for that lost heat.“That is not confused affection that is just plain old lust Genesis. Has it been that long since you’ve experienced that, or maybe you’ve never experienced it at all?”

The Countdown Has Begun!!
Greetings lovelies!!!!
As you can see from the very nice looking ticker above, the countdown to the Just One Kiss release is officially on!
I had to dig through the archives of my Facebook page but I found the date of when I completed the first draft!
I can not believe that it has been nearly two years since I first finished this book. Two years it's been sitting on the "shelf", biding it's time, waiting for its turn to be shown off to the world. And a month from now, it will be here!
I enjoyed writing this story, because it was a bit of a challenge. The male character has a secret and when that secret comes out things won't be pretty. If you've read Taking Chances, and After the Storm, you've already met Cassandra McAllister. She is best friends with Miranda Gray (Taking Chances) and the younger sister of Lila McAllister (After the Storm). If you've read After the Storm, you will remember Cassandra being very angry about something. You will find out what that something is in Just One Kiss.
I am so excited to be sharing this and the other stories I have coming up! In Just One Kiss, you will meet Cassandra's cousin and closest relative Cassius McAllister. His story, titled Perfection, will be next. I'm eager to share the next book after Perfection as well, because so far that has been one of my favorites and one of my favorite couples to write about, but I'll hold off for now. You will meet them both in Perfection.
I hope you all are just as eager as I am for Just One Kiss to come out! We are still working on the cover and hopefully I will be doing a cover reveal sometime next week! We shall see though!
Happy Reading!
