Time Flies When You're Catching Up

Today is National Pet Day! Here’s a picture of my silly, but lovable pets – Sassy and Vlad. And my little grandpup, Luna.

description

I wanted to catch up with everyone and let you know what I’ve been up to and how things are going.

description

Recovery Road made the New York Times! I’m so excited to have made the list and want to thank my readers for all of your support of this series.
If you didn’t get to see the book trailer you can see it HERE

I am on the last chapter of Dark Memory and hope to turn that in this week. If you’ve not heard this is book is Petru’s and the heroine is Safia. It is set in Algeria and it’s been an amazing experience finding out about the area, culture and people. I am so fortunate to have someone from Algeria, Anaruz Elhabib, help me with everything from culture to language.

As soon as I finish Dark Memory I’ll start working on Leopard’s Hunt. No, I’m not prepared to talk about it or who will be the hero/heroine. Lol

description

Brian and I did an interview with Fresh Fiction in February celebrating Brian’s second release of his Alice & Owen series titled Harmony of Lies and we talked about Recovery Road as well. If you missed that you can see it HERE

I did an interview with the Fated Mates podcast that releases April 12th, 2023. I don’t have the direct link yet but this is where you can go to find that link- https://fatedmates.net/

I’m going to be at the Reader/Author Get Together that Lori Foster puts on each year. I am really looking forward to seeing readers and having fun!

I’m also looking at going to Readers & ‘Ritas in Texas later this year as well. And there’s a good chance I’ll be attending San Diego ComicCon as well.

description

On May 3rd I will be doing an interview with Fresh Fiction’s Video Book Club and talking about Ghostly Game which releases May 2nd. It’s free to attend but they do ask you to sign up. Here is a link for that- Invite link: https://VBC-feehan.eventbrite.com

Goodbye 2022 and Hello 2023! Let’s Celebrate and have a Giveaway!

description

I just hit 50,000 followers here on Goodreads! I’m so excited! I’ve been on Goodreads since February of 2013. I’ve met and interacted with so many amazing readers. I’ve been invited to meet the wonderful people at Goodreads in San Francisco. I’ve met great people there. I’d like to give a special think you to Mimi Chan who has such enthusiasm and a true love of books, authors and readers.

description

First, let’s reflect a bit.

description

The year has just flown by. 2022 was a challenge.
I love that readers gave Savage Road a chance and that the book did even better than I expected. Thank you! The fact that this book hit so many bestseller lists just blew me away.

Phantom Game was so fun to write. I appreciate reader following along in this very different direction for the series. Just wait until you read Ghostly Game!
Shadow Fire took us to our first non-Ferraro hero – Eli! The arranged marriage trope is a favorite and this couple ended up such a power couple.

Red on the River was the next in my romantic thriller series. I learned a valuable lesson with that book – I am NOT a good card player. LOL

Dark Whisper allowed me to take some new turns with this series. I got to go back to the Lycans, which I really enjoy.

And then Leopard’s Scar was a surprise even to me! I thought I knew who I was going to write about and then two very new characters came out demanding their story be told first! LOL

2022 was special for a lot of reasons but for me I was extremely proud that this was my son, Brian Feehan’s, first book release- Harmony of Fire. I really enjoyed doing some promo together. We did interviews and went to Hawaii for an event. So much fun!

description

Now let’s look into the crystal ball toward the future!
I’m hopeful that 2023 will be even better.

description

Brian has a new book coming out Feb. 21st called Harmony of Lies. I’m so excited for him! He is now a USA Today bestselling author and I hope readers will discover him. His series is so different! And if you'd like a signed and personalized copy of Harmony of Lies you can find it at Gallery Bookshop!

description

My 2023 line up has new releases, re-releases with new covers and mass market releases!

description

Recovery Road is my first new release of the year. It will be out January 24th. This is Master’s book and it was a bit surprising for me as well.

Ghostly Game brings us back to Team 3 in San Francisco. I’ve never written a GhostWalker novel quite like this one and I’m so curious as to what my readers will think. That book will be out May 2nd.

Shadow Dance will be released Aug. 22nd. At least tentatively. When the release dates are this far out they are always subject to change. This book takes us to the New York Ferraros where Geno, the head of the family in New York, is our hero. Not to worry, you’ll still see some of our Chicago family.

Dark Memory is the next Dark/Carpathian novel, and it will be released, tentatively, Oct. 3rd. We’re still with the ancients. I’m about to start work on that book very soon.
I am hoping to attend some events this year but can’t really say which ones just yet.

For those of you who have been waiting for a new Carpathian Guide, we hope to that that up in 2023! If you've never seen the guide you can see it on my community. Sign up here.

If you’re still reading this rather long blog, thank you.

To celebrate the milestone 50,000 followers here on Goodreads I thought I’d do a giveaway here from my blog.

Leopard's Scar: My Thoughts

description

I wanted to share some thoughts and behind the scenes of the writing of Leopard's Scar.
description

When writing a book in a series I pretty much know which character I’ll write about next. For the Leopard series it was going to be Gorya. His book was in my head, and I knew his story. I sat down to write it and suddenly this total stranger shows up! She was loud in my mind and so vivid in her character that I couldn’t stop thinking about her. This was not Gorya’s woman. I knew that.

Then another stranger showed up. Handsome, smooth, sophisticated and wild. Lethal. I tried to ignore him and go back to Gorya but those two strangers had other ideas.

description

Meiling is such an amazing character. She’s strong, self-reliant, funny even. The more she spoke up, the more I knew I had to write about her. He was extraordinary and unique. And he was unlike other characters in this series in many ways. But he was certainly a leopard. I wasn’t going to be able to write Gorya’s book until I wrote the story of these two strangers. And something inside me said they had to come first, I just didn’t know why yet.

description

So, Meiling and Gedeon took over the position of Gorya’s book.

These two new characters went back and forth between New Orleans and San Antonio. And they stirred things up. It was tense and I worried that issues with previous characters, that I love, wasn’t going to end well.

When I got toward the end of the book I realized this had to take place first for Gorya’s book to be written. It couldn’t have happened any other way. And I’m excited for readers to find out why.

Who is your favorite Leopard series couple?

Leopard Series Research Archives

Years ago I posted some of my research information on my website. When the website was updated the old research information was archived. I thought it might be fun to take a look at some of the archives for the leopard series as we get closer to the release date for Leopard's Scar.
Not all of the pictures or links are still available, but if they were I've included them.
Does anyone remember these?

~LEOPARD SERIES RESEARCH PAGE~
May 01, 2018 16:59:00

Welcome to my research page on the Leopard Series. I really enjoy working on these books. This page is a collection of information that inspired and aided me in creating my stories. In time I will be adding more to this section. I hope you enjoy!

~BORNEO RAIN FOREST~

By definition a rainforest is a dense tropical or subtropical forest characterized by lush vegetation and relatively high temperatures and rainfall throughout the year. All of the rainforests in the world account for only about seven percent of the earth’s land mass and yet they contain more than fifty percent of the worlds’ animal and plant species! The Borneo Rain forest is one of these amazing ecosystems.

description

Located off the coast of southeast Asia, Borneo is one of the biggest islands in the world. The rainforest that this island harbors is unique and sadly diminishing quickly. Half of the worlds’ annual tropical timber comes from this one island! The Borneo rainforest is unique because it is the last remaining habitat for many endangered species including the Bornean Orangutan, the Sumatran Rhinoceros, the Asian Elephant and the Clouded Leopard.

~LEOPARDS~

The leopard is a big cat belonging to the family Pantherinae, a sub family of Felidae, which also includes jaguars, lions and tigers. There are actually three species of big cats that are lumped together under the title “leopard”. These are the Snow Leopard, the Clouded Leopard and the Persian Leopard. The Clouded Leopard is found through South East Asia, (from Nepal and southern China through Thailand, Indonesia and Borneo.) The Snow Leopard is a dwindling species that can be found across twelve countries in Central Asia. Sadly these beautiful creatures are numbering only about 5,000. Lastly the Persian Leopard is probably the most endangered of the three with only about 25 individuals existing in Armenia.

If you would like to read further on the habits, behaviors and characteristics of the Leopards, please utilize the link below:

Fire and Ice: Where Dark Whisper Takes Us

I doubt it will be a surprise that Dark Whisper takes us into the dark forests of a secluded Russian village. I’ve done a great deal of research of Russia; its landscape, history, architecture and people. The Lycan royalty live in this part of the world and have for centuries. We know from stories about Demitry that there are wolves in this region that he protects and that he has had experiences, both good and horrible, with the lycans.
When Siv travels to this region to speak to Skyler and Demitry he finds more than he bargained for. A royal lifemate, intrigue and Hell itself.

description

The time of year he arrives has brought the snow and I wanted to have both ice and fire juxtaposed against the trials the couple would come up against. Love and hate. Acceptance and rejection. Pleasure and pain. Lies and truth. It’s a long, layered, list in this story of a forbidden love.

Siv and Vasilisa are from different worlds. Worlds that don’t always trust each other. Worlds that have historically believed in staying away from each other. Even though the Lycans and Carpathians have fought together in the recent past, a long-standing belief system and fanatics who can’t step away from those beliefs make their relationship not only difficult, but dangerous.

Siv finds himself surrounded by rejection regardless of his sacrifice to save those who would reject him. Vasilisa has known her whole life that she held the other half of his soul. She has known that her man would be someone her family may not accept. Now he has arrived. And choices must be made. Live a cold life alone or embrace the heat of hatred from her people. The question is – is this love worth it?

Phantom Game: Looking Back and Going Forward

descriptionJonas “Smoke” Harper is in Team One of the GhostWalkers and was one of the first of a group of soldiers experimented on…enhanced. Camellia Mist was in one of the first group of orphaned girls genetically enhanced and trained as children to become elite soldiers as women. Sent out on dangerous missions and deemed expendable by the government sanctioned scientist Dr. Whitney.

In Phantom Game, as a special army comes to attack the GhostWalkers Jonas and Camellia must put their special gifts to the test in order to save their teams and their families.

This story, just like all of the GhostWalker books, is a standalone but reading Shadow Game, the first in the GhostWalker series gives you insight to how Jonas and his team escaped the horrible fate Whitney had planned for them.

description

In Conspiracy Game you get a glimpse at just what Whitney had in store for the orphaned girls he took for experiments…and for his breeding program.

In Phantom Game, Team One and Team Two have finally found a safe haven to raise their children. Or so they thought. When a specially trained and enhanced army comes looking for them and their children the two teams use their combined power and training to survive and claim their right to life.

description

I loved writing this book and bringing back some beloved characters. Team One suffered more than any of the other teams and now you get to see them as survivors who’ve taken back their lives and grown beyond anything Whitney could have imagined.
Readers who have read the series will love catching up with these characters and people who are reading Phantom Game as their first GhostWalker experience will get to experience the excitement of these GhostWalker teams!

Writing Romantic Suspense Is Not New for Me

description

I’ve been asked before why I started writing romantic suspense. I think I’ve always written romantic suspense. It just also happened to have a lot of paranormal elements. Suspense is, at least in my opinion, as much of a hallmark of my stories as romance and a happy-ever-after. What I do feel is different when it comes to Murder at Sunrise Lake and Red on the River is the mystery – the whodunit. And the fact that I don’t have graphic sex in this new series.

When I look back at the Drake Sisters series and the Sea Haven series, I feel that this new series is quite similar to these. It’s a tight-knit group of strong women who empower each other and are like family to one another. There’s not as much paranormal in the new series. I’d call it paranormal-light.

description

Like the Drakes or Sea Haven series there’s a touch of humor, a bit of the paranormal, sisterhood, romance, suspense and a happy-ever-after. Oh! And that small town feeling. With the Drakes and Sea Haven series there is the town of Sea Haven. With this new series the town is Knightly, but it’s still a small town with interesting characters we meet along the way.

I hope to write more stories about the amazingly strong women of Knightly and hope readers will enjoy their stories.

The Mysteries of Relationships: Red on the River

Red on the River is a romantic suspense story but it is also a mystery. If you enjoy looking for clues and guessing at who the killer is then I hope you’ll give this book a try.

description

I love the dynamics of relationships. I write about more than just romance and feel all relationships are interesting.

Vienna has a variety of relationships she has to face. She’s very real and down to earth in how she thinks of relationships and has respect for them. Even the difficult ones. The relationship between she and her mother has been estranged, so when Vienna ends up in Las Vegas, where her mother lives, it’s time to address what happened between them. Many people are estranged from those they love and we see how that affects Vienna during her trip.

I love how she interacts with her family and friends. She’s a heroine I hope readers admire and can see themselves as.

In Red on the Riverhe hero, Zale, is a man of mystery. Vienna isn’t really sure of what he does for a living but she knows it is secretive and dangerous. Just like he is. He is her own personal mystery.

description

I loved writing this couple’s story. They are both risk-takers and they put their hearts on the line to find that that is the biggest risk of all. I love that they’re complicated as individuals and as a couple, but they want to simplify their lives. It becomes something they both crave. And something that isn’t easy to achieve.

Tell me who some of your favorite heroines are!
