Ordinary Women of the Bible Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop!

I was delighted—and a little intimidated—when I was asked to write one of the books in the Ordinary Women of the Bible series from Guideposts. I had written over 80 books at that time, but I’d never tackled biblical fiction before.

Now I can say without hesitation that writing Rich Beyond Measure: Zlata’s Story was one of the best experiences of my writing career. Every day was spent reading through the gospel accounts and digging deep into books that taught me about C...

Three Christmas Novellas

It’s that time of year when Christmas books begin arriving on bookstore shelves. While I don’t have a brand new Christmas story to share with you, I do have some repackaged Christmas stories. All three are novellas, so perfect for the crazy holiday season. And each of them is available for the Kindle and Kindle app for only $1.99.

A Cloud Mountain Christmas is included in An Idaho Christmas but is now available on its own. The setting is 2007 in a ski town in the mountains of Idaho.

A Cloud Mountain Christmas

A ...

See the Lion of Judah

Once upon a time someone said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” I was unable to confirm who that someone was. Apparently the quote has been attributed to a number of different people (including Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, and C.S. Lewis), but my research couldn’t confirm anyone definitely.

No matter who said it the first time, I believe it is true. Comparison is the thief of joy.

On Tuesday night, I participated on a panel of multi-published, multi-award-winning authors, answering a n...

Corporate Worship

The entry for September 19 in New Morning Mercies begins with this:

Corporate worship is designed to make you thankful, not just for possessions and accomplishments, but for what you’ve been given in Christ.

A little further down, talking about what happened to him (the author) while in worship in a service, he said:

I needed to be not just thankful for the ease, comforts, and accomplishments of life, but thankful for things of eternal value. I needed to see, understand, cry out for, an...

New Morning Mercies

“Prayer is abandoning all other objects of worship and giving myself to the daily worship of God alone.”

In 2005, I was given the devotional, Streams in the Desert by L.B. Cowman (and updated by Jim Reimann). I didn’t know just how difficult my life was about to become nor did I know how helpful this little book would be to me during that journey. I wore out my first copy and replaced it with one with a faux leather cover, and I have read through this new copy many times. It is highlighted an...

Sitting at His Feet

For the past week, I have been working through line edits of my June 2022 stand-alone release. This is a dual-time women’s fiction, the historical thread set during WWII. I love the characters in this novel, especially the protagonist who is in both the historical and the contemporary storylines.

Today was a long day, but I am nearing the end. I have a new scene I need to write, then one more existing chapter to proof (accept or reject or add changes), and I’ll be done with this round of edit...
