Today in laughable self-assessments: Jerry Boykin says FRC has 'not made a big issue of trying to condemn homosexuals'

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins:

“Those that understand the homosexual community — the activists — they are very aggressive…everything they accuse us of they are in triplicate. They’re intolerant, they’re hateful, they’re vile, they’re spiteful…Our response to them should be one of love and of compassion. But let me tell you what, it's not love to be silent in the face of those who are advancing an agenda that is destructive to our society and, more importantly, destructive to i...

NOM's Comm. Director reduces opposition to stale, boring 'trolls'

Typical behavior from Thomas, who seems to think open dissent and pushback is the same thing as "trolling":

Something new? Well, we won four states and re-elected a pro-equality President who mentions us in inaugurals. That's new and exciting!

Oh, and our March 4 Marriage page (which Thomas himself has "liked") surpassed NOM's own official effort in only a week. That's not boring!

Let's think of all the other ways we can keep 2013 fresh. For us and for Thomas.

Our scrappy little March 4 Marriage site surpasses NOM's official effort

A week ago today, I threw the page up on Facebook, just to get the counter effort going. Tonight, we begin setting the pace for March (and beyond):

NOM's effort, currently at 1364 likes

And it's only early February. It's going to be a historic spring, my friends.

Amici mild: An important point about anti-equality court briefs

A compelling talking point courtesy of lesbi–legal eagle Nan Hunter:

"To see how marginalized the on-the-ground groups trying to block gay marriage have become, you have to peruse the amicus briefs filed by organizations and individuals supporting Cooper and Clement. There are no bar associations, no professional associations, no national civil rights groups, no corporate business voices, and no big prestigious firms that have written the briefs. Some amici are formidable: the U.S. Conference...

Book update (#lgbt #authors)

Holding strong at number three on this Amazon ratings chart (and realizing I need to write about religion):

If It's a Choice… by Jeremy Hooper [Amazon]

I also want to note three new additions to the LGBT canon that I've had a chance to read, in full or in part:

1) John Corvino's What's Wrong With Homosexuality?

2) Daniel Hernandez' They Call Me A Hero

3) Chris Stedman's Faitheist

Check 'em out! I can speak for all of us who write LGBT nonfiction in saying that we appreciate the support.

IFI's Laurie Higgins equates homosexuality with incest, racial supremacy

Just days before her organization leads a rally against marriage equality at the state capitol—a rally that the National Organization For Marriage is promoting, by the way—Illinois Family Institute researcher Laurie Higgins continues to show the extreme ways by which her organization denigrates LGBT people as humans. To wit:

Does President Obama really mean that “nobody” should be barred from the Boy Scouts? What about those who affirm polyamory or adult consensual incest as central to their i...

FRC seeks 'spiritual warfare' against inclusive Boy Scouts

More dangerous rhetoric from an organization that refuses to take even one shred of responsibility for its own actions:
