Audio: Did Walmart meet with FRC and choose to stop funding gay orgs? Tony Perkins says yes
On his show today, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins says that his organization met with Walmart and that led the megaretailer to stop funding "the opposition":
People with actual credentials counter discriminatory Scouting myths
"nearly 100 experts from the fields of sexual abuse prevention, psychology, psychiatry, child advocacy, faith outreach, education and coaching have co-signed an open letter to concerned parents and educators"

Another Westboro defector; Megan Phelps-Roper flips
Megan Phelps-Roper used to engage me on Twitter all the time. Then she stopped.
Today, I learn why:
Once a constant Tweeter, she hasn’t posted anything online since October. “I don’t know what I believe, so I don’t know what to say,” she explains. “I haven’t been ready to talk about any of this.” She’s only doing so now, and briefly, because, she says, “I was so proactive before and vocal about the church. My name means something now to others that it doesn’t mean to me. I want people to know t...
'Ex-gay' Focus on the Family staffer Jeff Johnston: Gay relationships are 'unreality'
"Former homosexual" Jeff Johnston, who serves as Focus on the Family's Gender Issues Analyst (my old job, as Bill Maher might say), recently came across a column calling on Christians to evolve on LGBT equality. Jeff gives a decided "NO!":
"Same-sex unions do not reflect the reality of male and female bodies. Humans can participate in a variety of relationships and be quite inventive with sexualbehaviors. But only a male and female sexually uniting can produce children. This is why all cultur...
'Homosexuality is an Abomination unto God' sign on display at today's official 'Save our Scouts' rally
Family Research Council and some Texas-based organizations held a rally outside Boy Scout headquarters this afternoon. Check out what was proudly on display and has now been proudly posted to the official "Save Our Boy Scouts" account:
And this is why we will ultimately win this conversation.

Animus, pure and simple. The Boy Scouts have a clear choice before them. History is watching.

Boy Scouts push gay question to May
The BSA will consider the inclusivity question at its annual meeting this May. Enjoy another few months of social conservatives comparing gay people to pedophiles.
The AP has more.

**Official BSA statement:
For 103 years, the Boy Scouts of America has been a part of the fabric of this nation, providing it’s youth program of character development and values-basedleadership training. In the past two weeks, Scouting has received an outpouring of feedback from the American public. It reinforces h...
Yes, Tony Perkins, you are in fact conflating homosexuality and child sexual abuse. Own it.
Tony Perkins insists he's not attempting to link gays to child sexual abuse. Then he does exactly that, wondering "why we would want someone who is attracted to men camping with our boys" before suggesting that allowing openly gay scoutmasters would "make [the abuse] worse":
Perkins Live, 2/5/13]
Tony, whether he owns it or not, is conflating an attraction to adult men with an attraction to boys. This is reprehensible and offensive! No one sexual orientation geared towards adult humans...
Video: Libby Phelps, yesterday and 'Today'
Regular G-A-Y readers know I've been corresponding with Westboro Baptist Church defector Libby Phelps (Alvarez) since she left a few years back. Now, NBC's "Today" show is giving her's, a story of a a child overcoming her unchosen birthright, a major boost:

Video: In pre-Super Bowl interview, POTUS says Boy Scouts should be open to gays
NOM has given up pretending it's anything other than an anti-gay group
It's no longer about marriage. With this, the National Organization For Marriage is forever an anti-LGBT organization
[SOURCE]
We've seen shades of this in the past. NOM has blasted our adoptions and has vilified our family structures. But at least there was some tangential relationship to marriage.
This is a whole new thing. The subject here is simple inclusivity. NOM didn't have to say anything about this, since it has NOTHING to do with the organization's stated interests. But they have chos...
