IFI gets even more extreme (if you can believe it)
For months now, I've been telling you that the opposition group leading the charge in Illinois is more than your average family policy council. One of the few statewide family policy groups with public engagement hostile enough to make the Southern Poverty Law Center's active anti-gay groups list, the Illinois Family Institute and its extreme-tongued voices (Smith, Higgins, et al.) spend more time telling LGBT people that we are broken, immoral, and "changeable" than they do fighting us on po...
A third of the US population has marriage equality
American Foundation For Equal Rights brings this astounding stat:
Of course until it's 100%, we are still living under an injustice that belies the fair and free principles of this great nation.
But at the same time—WOW! What a decade! What a source of hope! What a country!

Tony Perkins: Chris Christie is now a 2016 'non-starter'
Because of his decision to drop his fight against the loving couples who are now marrying in his state, viciously anti-gay conservative leader Tony Perkins has declared New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to be off the table of consideration for the GOP's 2016 presidential nomination:
Let's be clear about something: Gov. Christie has not wavered in his opposition to marriage equality. He's still against it. Determinedly so, in fact. Remember,...

Other options gone, NJ's top anti-gay voice resorts to denigration; gay unions = 'conjugal mismatch' & 'biological falsehood'
Marriage is legal and loving couples are already taking part. This being New Jersey's reality, the man who has been working for marriage discrimination for so many years has little left to do other than cast those sam loving couples out of normalcy's spectrum:
"The nature of marriage transcends the decrees of man. A judge can order the law to include squares in the definition of circles, but no judge can change the mathematical realities that geometry is founded on. Likewise, the court can inv...
Support gay soldiers, undermine homeland security?
Elaine Donnelly, professional sayer of things that she thinks might make the military (and society) more anti-LGBT, is back to beat the poor deceased horse that is Don't As Don't Tell. In her latest, Donnelly is going after Jeh Johnson, President Obama's nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security, precisely because Johnson dared to side with the majority of the public and support gay-inclusive military service. Donnelly says Johnson can't be trusted:
He cannot be trusted with national or homel...
NOM says Christie can't be president; but they also said Mitt *could*, so, you know.
The National Organization For Marriage has lost another friend. Here's president Brian Brown:
"Regrettably, Governor Christie's decision to surrender on marriage reveals him to be a man who lacks the courage of his supposed convictions. As far as we are concerned, it's a disqualifying failure. His surrender on marriage effectively surrenders any chance he might have had to secure the GOP nomination for president."

Says the organization whose endorsement, as of late, pretty much guarant...
Our losses are epic and unending—give us more money!
While still living within a worse year than one that even I could have scripted, and while suffering the crushing psychological blow of marriage equality now being a done deal in the state of its founding, the National Organization For Marriage is doing the only thing it knows to do: ask for more cash.
And those dollars will all be outmatched by the inevitable march of history.
They say the definition of insanity it to keep trying the same thing and excepting different results. Apply that axiom...

IFI's Higgins: Gay marriages, parenting, families = 'evil'
With her organization gearing up to lobby the state legislature on Wednesday, the Illinois Family Institute's Laurie Higgins is trying her hardest to let the lawmakers know that the IFI's agenda is vicious and goes well beyond just marriage. To wit:
“'Evil' is defined as “morally bad or wrong; causing ruin, injury, or pain; harmful.” Severing the link between children and their mothers and fathers for no reason related to parental loss, abuse, incompetence, or abandonment is evil. Creating chi...
