What FRC's #VVS13 is teaching young people: Gays were abused, need to repent
Political Research Associates ran into some younger attendees of the Family Research Council's Values Voter Summit and got them to weigh in on LGBT rights. Here's some of what transpired:
“I don’t think homosexuality is natural, one of my best friends is a gay and he says he was abused by his step-dad when he was really little. I think that’s probably the case for most people who think they’re gay,” says Sarah, a 17 year old from Oregon who is attending the Values Voters Summit with her church...

Video: Sandy Rios disallows #VVS13 supporters from ever again denying event's anti-gay status
Sandy Rios' Values Voter Summit speech was out-of-this-world anti-gay! I'll have the full video when I can. For now, Right Wing Watch brings us one clip:

What Paul, Rubio, Ryan, et al. are tacitly supporting
The Values Voter Summit, where so many elected conservatives are speaking today and throughout the weekend, remains a staunchly pro-"ex-gay" event:
SOURCE: Ben Jacobs
They want to "change" us. As in, they don't want us existing as ourselves. Despite all credible science, they think it is perfectly okay to tell folks that the millions of LGBT people who populate this world are in need of "fixing." In fact, they think it's their duty.
And conservatives call it "values voting."

Video: CWA's Alison Howard here to save us from ourselves
Alison Howard, a Liberty University alum who currently works as the Concerned Women For America's communications director, says that marriage equality is going to hurt people and bring pain. And she, a straight woman, has no choice but to enforce her faith-motivated opinion onto everyone.
RightWingWatch brings us the clip:

Or, Alison, you could stop, oh, I don't know—working for an organization and movement that brings pain and hurt to LGBT people and our families?!

Video: National Coming Out Day turns 25; ready to settle down, legally marry
Happy National Coming Out Day Everyone! It's the 25th year:
Coming Out Center [HRC]
The closet is of course much, much older than twenty-five. But it's been looking a little tired lately. I'm thinking we'll seeing more signs of its retirement in the years to come.

Video: Latest PR campaign in religious right's push to sell discrimination as 'religious freedom'
The Odgaards wanted to offer marriage services to everyone but gays, flouting state nondiscrimination law. Here is a fluff video, produced but the Becket Fund, addressing everything but that reality:
Notice they keep using the words "religious ceremony," both in this video and the court documents they just filed, to refer to the gay couple's plans. But don't buy the spin. The fact of the matter is that the Odgaards have been operating a public venue that they offered up to all kinds of heteros...
Video: Head of org that vowed to 'drive a wedge between gays, blacks' speaks for African-American pastors coalition
A few years back, NOM Exposed first brought this truly vile National Organization For Marriage strategy document to light:
This divisive revelation drew outrage from Africa-American leaders.
Coincidentally (?), NOM's president says it was just a few years ago that he decided to "start working more closely" with the Coalition for African-American Pastors. Here's Brian Brown saying as much in a new CAAP promo vid:
(*Clip is cued to right spot)
Wedges aren't going to drive themselves, after all.

NJ: Long-denied justice will not be delayed; legal marriages on 10/21!
Gov. Chris Christie's resistance to taking his state over to history's right side is looking more and more wrongheaded:
Earlier today, a New Jersey Superior Court judge denied the request to delay implementation of the historic court ruling affirming marriage equality Based on a ruling by Judge Mary Jacobson in late September, the courts will start issuing marriage licenses on October 21st to same-sex couples.

Those who know Harvey's legacy are obviously thrilled. Those who know Harvey only from the movie Milk are asking, "what's a stamp?"

Illinois Family Institute prez: Don't give way to the 'wicked' marriage equality proponents
David Smith, the extreme-tongued gentleman who is leading the fight to keep Illinois discriminatory, has this to say about the marriage bill soon to come up against before the state legislature:
"God tells us in Proverbs that 'a righteous man who gives way before the wicked' is 'like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain.'
We must remain vigilant and must continue to speak out against these efforts to redefine God’s institution of marriage. We cannot afford to remain silent as the Left contin...
