Video: CA pastor Jack Hibbs tells churchgoers to vote against transgender student protections

Judging by the phrasing, I'm assuming this was shown today in California churches:

"This is not some sort of a political plea"? Um, blatantly lying in the name of Jesus is still blatantly lying, Pastor Hibbs.

Video: Newly hired snake oil salesman welcomes you to his scientifically discredited store

Here is David Pruden, the new head of the so-called National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH), putting a friendly face on damaging practices:

It's like an auto mechanic touting his new shop geared toward repairing cars that aren't broken. Except, you know—a million times worse.

'Hubristic quest for superiority is to be protected from civil coexistence. Not the reverse'

Or as NOM and conservative writer Eric Metaxas rephrase my headline:

It's as if they're trying to hypnotize us into believing their fictions. "You are getting sleepy. You will let us impose theocracy..."

'If only he'd been more anti-gay...': A look at Maggie Gallagher &amp fellows' silly 'GOP autopsy'

Maggie Gallagher is one of three co-authors of a new report that purports to "explain" why the GOP lost in 2012. The report is pretty much tone deaf (/self preservationist), particularly in the way it focused on marriage equality and its historic gains last fall.

Here's the main section dealing with marriage equality:

Opposition to Gay Marriage Did Not Drive Republican Defeat in 2012

Gay marriage is an issue on which the Republican base is united, but which is gaining favor among Democrats and s...

FRC prays for God 'to destroy those who embrace' the 'evil' of marriage equality

From the Family Research Council's latest round of "prayer targets":

So tell us again, FRC: why is the Southern Poverty Law Center wrong to classify you the way that they do?

Unoriginal plumbing: NOM takes good-natured home improvement project, uses it for ill-natured disapproval of other people's homes

On the website vizimac.com, it's a handy image helping users learn how to replace a shower valve:

But when put through NOM's discriminatory filter, it becomes an attack on transgender kids who attend California's public schools

[NOM hit piece on California's trans rights bill]

Seriously, NOM is like a version of Instagram, the way they so regularly manipulate other people's photos. Except, of course, instead of adding a cool effect to the original image, NOM...

#ThrowbackThursday: Hawaii's late '90s pro-discrimination ads were as campy as they were disgusting

The National Organization For Marriage has announced a new television ad campaign telling Hawaii to not grant equality to its citizens. Perhaps they turned to some of these ads from 1998's version of making discrimination sound like something other than what it is:

Does Illinois' top 'defend marriage' group think we're all 'mistakes'?

This was a popular refrain at yesterday's "Defend Marriage" lobby day in Springfield, Illinois:

PHOTOS and full report: Gay marriage opponents gather at Capitol [Windy City Times]

When people say "God doesn't make mistakes" in an LGBT context, typically they mean it in a pro-LGBT way. As in, "God doesn't make mistakes, so clearly God wanted LGBT people here for a reason." That's the obvious application to ours, a world that clearly does feature quite a few specimens who happen to be L, G, B, or...
