knocked on the door, trying hard not to be pissed that this piece of shit
apartment complex with no fucking security was Emmy’s home. This wasn’t where
I’d been picturing her. And I pictured her a fucking lot.             Waiting
with my hands tucked in the pockets of my jeans, I was trying to remain calm.
But fuck it all, I had been waiting to see her face for months. Every time I
heard her voice my entire body went on high alert. I couldn’t rein in its
attraction to Emmy.             I
heard a chain sliding out of the lock as the door swung open, revealing her in
a pair of tiny little shorts and a camisole. Her hair was tangled and her

thought you’d be ready to go home. Aren’t you homesick?” she asked, tilting her
head back to look up at me.             “I
was only missing one thing, angel. And it wasn’t in fucking L.A.” I winked as I
cupped her face and felt her soft skin under my thumbs as I brushed her
cheekbones.             She
frowned a moment. “Do you mean me?”             I
hauled her against me and lifted her inches off the floor as I took the few
strides to the sofa and sank down with her in my lap. She didn’t pull away, and
God, that felt good. “So fucking sweet,” I murmured as I stared down into her
face. I hadn’t made this shit up. She was better than I remembered. Fuck, she
was so much better. That voice had gotten me through the tour.

I can feel Wilder’s breath against my lips. More than that, I can see it. The sun has set and the temperature has dropped, and air fogs between us. There’s something about actually seeing it, like our lips are touching, we are touching, despite the distance between. And as we sway from side to side, my heart gradually begins to pick up speed.

The strains of guitar music flowing out from the restaurant are nearly indecipherable over the heavy heartbeat in my ears. But Wilder must hear it. His hands are strong on my body, guiding my movements, and I’m practically clay in his palms.

We dance, eyes on eyes, lips nearly on lips, and there is lightning beneath my skin each time his body brushes against mine in a new way. His touch is firm, but gentle, never pushing or pressuring, though I can tell from the dark look in his eyes that he’s just as affected as I am. The music shifts, building to a crescendo, and he spins us. My chest pushes tight against his, and I bite back a gasp. I don’t know if it’s the cold or him or some combination of both, but the tips of my breasts are painfully tight. Just the pressure of my bra is enough to rub them raw.

I remember the night at his apartment, the way he’d taken his time learning my body. I think of the heat of his mouth on my skin, and the memory alone is enough to make me shiver and clench.

He’s back to being business, grown-up Wilder tonight in his button down and glasses. Only now that I know him, it doesn’t seem like such a stark difference. He is neither the straight-laced man nor the tattooed bad boy. Or perhaps he’s both. Lori's thoughts: This is the first book/series that I've read by Deborah Bladon. I kept seeing her books at the top of the bestseller list and thought I'd give one of them a try. I wanted to see how she did her series, since I'm working on one of my own. I went to her website and she has a reading order. She suggests to read the Obsessed series first. I bought the complete four book series on Amazon and read them back-to-back. I think that was the best way to do it, because I'm not sure I would have continued with the entire series if I would have had to wait for them to come out. I really enjoyed Ivy and Jax together, but separate, I'm not sure what I think. Jax seemed to be a bit stalker/creeper-like. And Ivy waffled from being strong to not so much. I did like the overall series, and will most likely read more work by this author in the near future.

Lori's thoughts: **Received ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.** 

I really enjoyed reading about Edie. And this was a very promising storyline. I felt like there needed to be more. More about her dad. More about the bully at school. The character development could have been deeper. I wanted to know more about Edie's boyfriend. It felt like there were a lot of loose ends that just never went anywhere or were never tied up like they should have, or could have been. I'm still giving it four stars because I liked the book. I just wish there would have been more.

I slowly inch my way farther into the kitchen, trying desperately to think of all things non-sexy such as yield return graphs and profit-loss spreadsheets, but with her head buried in the fridge and her ass still in the air, I’m failing epically.

“Yeah?” I don’t mean for it to come out like a question, so I clear my throat and try again. “Yeah, we do.”

Straightening to her full height, which can’t be more than about five-foot-five, she gradually rotates around to face me. With her firm rear no longer in my line of sight, my eyes travel up her body, lingering over her erect nipples straining against the light blue shirt, which cause me to wonder if it’s the cold air they were just exposed to or my presence that has them aroused.

My eyes eventually find hers, and no matter what words are about to leave her mouth, I know by the heated gaze she’s watching me with—the one that’s relishing the way I’m eye-fucking her—that she wants this as bad as I do.

Gaining confidence, my small steps graduate into long strides until I’ve closed the distance between us in a matter of seconds. She backs up slightly, but with the large stainless appliance behind her, she’s got nowhere to go. I wait to touch her, wait until she says whatever bullshit nonsense she’s got to say to make herself feel better, before I lay my hands on her and make her forget about whatever stupid-ass, preconceived set of rules society has put on our relationship.

Lori's thoughts: This is a great start to a series and it kept my interest. It also makes me look forward to book two. It's a short, quick read with enough tension to start a fire. The concept is interesting, and I'm looking forward to getting to know both of the main characters a little bit better. I like the unique "help wanted" concept.

He left me standing there as he disappeared into the bathroom, and I tried to make sense of what just happened. All I knew was that the punch-in-the-chest sadness that came whenever I thought of Shaun wasn’t there. And I didn’t know what to make of that.Or anything.Taking a deep breath, I put my clothes on his dresser and all but dashed into the bed, and good Lord, the mattress was comfy! I scooted to the middle and froze, having no idea what side he slept on or if he had a side. I totally had a side—always the furthest away from closet doors because I was a dork. Straightening the shirt out so my undies weren’t saying hi to the world, I tugged the blanket up to my hips and lay flat on my back.I so needed an adult to explain to me what the hell I was supposed to do from this point on.There wasn’t much time to stress over it because Ren returned from the bathroom.
