Book Review: Bone Deep
Bone Deep by Bonnie Dee: In the fall of 1946, grieving war widow Sarah goes to the carnival with her friends and is riveted by the tattooed man in the freak show, sporting head to toe body art. Later she discovers him hiding in her hayloft, escaped from virtual imprisonment since childhood by the carnival's evil owner. She shelters him on her farm, fighting a powerful sexual attraction while learning about his mysterious past and gentle nature. When a local child goes missing, Tom uses his psychic gifts to locate her, but his assistance in the case doesn't allay the town's mistrust of such an exotic stranger in their midst. Small-town prejudice tears the lovers apart and a very real threat from carnival owner Art Reed endangers them. Can they rise above obstacles of fear and hate to create the family both have always craved?
Lori's thoughts: I devoured this book in a matter of hours. I really loved the characters. Sarah and Tom were perfectly flawed. Sarah, an outsider in her own right in a small town filled with a few small minded people. And poor Tom. Made into a freak side show at the carnival for profit. Covered from head to toe in tattoos, made to sit and have people stare at him, day in and day out. Sweet, gentle Tom. Tom and Sarah collide in an unexpected, yet completely beautiful way. The passion, the desire, and to hell with what people think!
Lately, I've had a fascination with the carnival, the circus, and the people who work there. This book did not disappoint me at all and I look forward to reading more things by Bonnie Dee.

Book Review: Six of Hearts
Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway: Step right up and meet Jay Fields: Illusionist. Mentalist. Trickster.
I think in triangles. You think in straight lines.
I show you a table and make you believe it’s a chair.
Smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand, misdirection. I trick and deceive.
But most of all, I put on a good show.
The world thinks I killed a man, but I didn’t. Bear with me. It’s all a part of the plan.
Revenge is what I want. I want it for me and I want it for her.
I want it for all six of us.
She doesn’t remember me, but she’s the reason for everything. She’ll be my prize at the end of all this – if I can hold onto my willpower, that is. Maybe I’ll slip up a little, have a taste, just a small one.
So go ahead and pick a card. Come inside and see the show. Look at my hands, look so closely that you can’t see what’s happening while you’re so focused on looking. I’ll be destroying your world from right here in the spotlight.
You’ll never see me coming until it’s too late.
I’ve only got one heart, and after I’ve pulled off my grand deception I’ll hand it right to her.
So, sit back, relax, and let my girl tell you our story. You’re in for one hell of a ride.
Lori's thoughts: I love playing cards, not playing with them, but looking at them, studying them, using them for divination, etc. I've seen this book around for awhile and I almost bought it a couple of times. Truthfully, what made me one-click it this time was when I saw the cover for her new book coming out in March. That one looks really good, and when I saw that it is a spin-off of this one, I decided it was time to read Six of Hearts. I was not disappointed. Several times I found myself laughing out loud. I also spent a great deal of the book swooning over Jay. The circus, the carnival, those things are exciting! With an air of mystery and wonder. How do they do that?! I liked the relationship between Jay and Matilda. It wasn't insta-love. The attraction was undeniable, but she didn't believe he could possibly be interested in her and so she was insecure and afraid to act on any feelings she felt toward him. He had a mission to complete, and before he could show her how he really felt, he had to complete the things he set out to do.
Very fun book with some mystery along the way. I look forward to reading more by this author!

Book Review: Tall, Tatted and Tempting
Tall, Tatted and Tempting (The Reed Brothers #1) by Tammy Falkner: She’s locked up tight. But he might be the key.
Logan Reed is tall, tatted and tempting. Kit’s a woman with a mean right hook and a secret.
Kit wants a tattoo, but Logan sees more than she intends to share in the drawing of the tat she wants. He sees her in ways no one ever has.
Logan’s not disabled; but he hasn’t spoken in eight years. He hasn’t needed to. Until he meets Kit.
Logan doesn’t know everything about Kit. Kit doesn’t know anything about herself, until she has to sacrifice all she ever wanted to save what’s most important to him.
This book is not meant for individuals under the age of 18 due to adult language, adult sexuality and adult situations.
TeriLyn's thoughts: I read about the love some readers had for Tall, Tatted, and Tempting in a readers group online and it sounded like a story I’d enjoy. Expectations for the story were nil as I didn’t know what to expect from the title or the cover. Even the blurb didn’t do it justice as the story ended up taking me completely by surprise. There was so much to the story making it different and enjoyable. Pleasantly surprised, indeed.
The depth of the plot and the struggles each of these characters face make the story impossibly hard to put down. The writing simplistically creates a world where these two people instantly attract for reasons unknown to each. Logan and Emily pasts both prove to be hard but the slow unraveling of the bond they’ve made together intrigues the reader.
This story is different a uniqueness in the plot that makes it interesting and easy to invest in the characters telling you the story. Told from both points of view, Logan and Emily sweep us up in the whirlwind of their relationship. A trust in each other relays as a trust the reader has in their story.
I’d recommend for anyone who loves an easy reading, fast moving book about two characters working their way to each other, each discovering new nuances of themselves to shape who they want to eventually become. The reader isn’t left hanging throughout, plot devices slowly revealing themselves hooking us until the end. You want more when it’s over even knowing there’s more to Logan and Emily’s story to come.

Book Review: Erasing Faith
Erasing Faith by Julie Johnson: "You can’t erase your soulmate.
The marks they leave are etched in permanent ink."
WES
Weston Abbott is a ghost.
I like it that way.
Floating from place to place, I slip seamlessly into other people’s lives and destroy them from the inside out.
I’m untouchable. Untraceable.
Until her.
She’s in my head, under my skin. I can’t shake her — I don’t want to shake her.
She’s the best thing that ever happened to me.
And I’m her worst nightmare, come out to play.
FAITH
Faith Morrissey is dead.
I killed her.
Well, that’s what it feels like.
For three years, I’ve lived as “Fae Montgomery” in a city of strangers, licking my wounds and trying to forget. It’s pointless. No matter how many times I change my name or vanish around unfamiliar street corners, I’ll never stop seeing that foolish, naive girl whenever I look in the mirror.
I know it wasn’t real — that he wasn’t real — but that doesn’t make it any easier.
I can erase myself.
I can never erase him.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Erasing Faith generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. **
Each and every time Julie Johnson announces she’s writing a new story I do a little happy dance. This author possesses such a gift of storytelling. Each story she pens vividly represents two characters each on a journey of self-discovery whom find out what it’s like to love, lose, and forgive their soul mate. Erasing Faith explores the vitality of fate while questioning its very essence. It’s a contradiction of sorts fitting perfectly between the lines of the excellently written, descriptive prose composing the story of Faith Morrissey and Weston Abbott – whose very relationship just so happens to be a contradiction.
Choosing to write from the points of view of both, Faith & Wes, Julie Johnson depicts a tale reading as a fond memory of a period of time in both their lives when worlds collided so forcefully they both were knocked off their own axis. What I love about Julie’s writing are the details she provides to make you so in tune with her characters, details never overwhelming but perfectly placed to embrace the intensity or levity of the action. Ms. Johnson interprets events to the reader with such accuracy her words read like a movie scene playing out in front of your eyes.
Erasing Faith represents a love story full of mystery at the beginning with details revealing themselves throughout, subtle clues being left in every chapter, and in typical Julie Johnson fashion a perfectly placed element of surprise. The passion restrains itself from the overly graphic yet is written with such finesse you feel the connection between Faith & Wes intimately. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the high quality snark and banter Julie Johnson writes. Her subdued jokes and dry humor laced in the banter between these two characters makes you laugh out loud. There’s nothing better than two intelligent characters engaging in an intelligent game of word play.
Wes and Faith equally possess qualities you’ll love and a few that you won’t. They make mistakes, they are stubborn, they make choices affecting the rest of their lives, and they’re both figuring out who they are with the other infiltrating their life. The beauty of Wes and Faith stems from what they’re hiding from, how they fight against it, and ultimately the way in which they redeem themselves. It’s Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf for certain circling each other trying to find their place.
Although we meet Faith as Fae in Say the Word, Erasing Faith most definitely reads as a standalone novel. Just another quality of Ms. Johnson’s books I adore. It’s hard finding a good standalone book these days in the land of cliffhangers and trilogies. This author wraps her stories in neat packages leaving the reader fully satisfied with the structure of what they just consumed.
There hasn’t been a single sentence I’ve read in the three books published by Julie Johnson that felt out of place. This woman knows how to write great New Adult stories. It’s been an absolute pleasure following this author on her writing journey. With the release of Erasing Faith I’m reminded yet again why I drop everything to read a Julie Johnson book. And just like its predecessors, I could immediately go right back to chapter one and start all over again.
If you’re a fan of New Adult Romance, please don’t skip over Julie Johnson’s titles she possesses a great gift for her craft that will consume you as a reader.

Book Review: Heart Racaptured
Heart Recaptured (Hades Hangmen #2) by Tillie Cole: Even salvation can be delivered through the love of the damned…
Beauty can be a curse.
Faith can be a cage.
Only love can set you free.
A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin.
Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve’, Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a 'protection' she strongly resents.
Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch... a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore... Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the 'outside' may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love.
Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. Raised a biker brat and now VP of the most notorious MC in the States, Ky has no shortage of club sluts warming his bed; a situation he takes full advantage of… until a certain blonde enters his life… a gorgeous pilgrim-blonde he can’t get out of his head… a pilgrim-blonde he and his club recently-rescued from some backward religious cult… and a pilgrim-blonde he’s been ordered to keep the hell away from and his whorish hands off.
When yet another in a lengthy line of drunken blunders forces Ky to reluctantly take charge of the pilgrim-blonde’s care, he realizes that there could be more to this woman than just supermodel looks and a stacked set of tits. He begins to see that she could be the woman who could do the impossible—tame his wild ways and capture his reluctant heart.
But the unyielding bonds of Lilah’s past are strong, her ‘people’ determined and, with a new Prophet in charge and hell bent on revenge, they are mightily reluctant to let her go...
Dark Contemporary Romance.
Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature topics.
Recommended for age 18 years and up*
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Heart Recaptured generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
Hearts Recaptured proved to be another quintessential Tillie Cole story of love in darkness, love in salvation, love in understanding, and the love a gruff man holds for a broken woman. The poignant words provide hope in their darkness as Ms. Cole weaves Ky and Lilah’s story together. With each novel I read by this author I’m reminded of why I love to read her work. The main characters she’s creates always make me feel everything. The emotions they portray, the struggles they face, and the bond they form makes me believe in their story, in their lives together.
old from both the points of view of Ky an Lilah we get a glimpse into two different minds experiencing the same world from two different views making their story more compelling. Darkness shrouds the Lilah’s story like a thunder cloud. Her convictions remain resolute even as she works to discover the woman she can be without the upbringing of her people. Her stoic strength in herself even at her weakest moments never falters. Ky’s strength breeds from the knowledge of his own upbringing, his way of experiencing life. He’s just as resolute in his faith, a faith in Lilah. It’s a belief he may not have expected but the strength from it remains.
This love story is not easy. Lilah’s struggles are brutal and dark. Ky’s outlook and beliefs are that of an outlaw. I can’t imagine the strength it must have taken this author to write this journey, as it proves to us as readers the strength we can all have in ourselves. It gets ugly and gruesome yet still the author shows us the beauty. This extraordinary beauty hidden deep that when reached for it we feel it all over. It’s written with a melancholy undertone making you feel each and every emotion, action, and vulnerability; written so well the melancholy is bright and hopeful. The plot is unique and while completely different from the story of Styx and Mae,
Hearts Recaptured captures the perfect essence of a Tillie Cole novel. It’s another amazingly painful story with an ending exciting us for more of Ms. Cole’s love stories. Flame and Maddie have me so intrigued I cannot wait for book three.

Synopsis
They ignored the warning signs and it cost them everything...
At the end of a life-changing summer a devastating tornado hit the small town of Hope’s Grove, Oklahoma.
While the brick suburban mansions of Summit Bluffs saw very little damage, their occupants weren’t so lucky. As the members of both communities struggle to put the pieces of their lives back together, lies will be told, truths will be revealed, and nothing will ever be the same. The road to recovery is long and paved with past hurts and future heartbreaks.
They ignored the warning signs, and one of them didn’t make it out alive. The four that remain know they’d be crazy to think the storms are actually over..
Because it’s just when you think you’re safe that you find yourself right in the path of destruction.
EXCERPTPrologue – Cameron
I’d always heard that your entire life flashes before your eyes right before you die. Now, I can honestly say that it’s true. Well, almost true. It’s more like your mind flips through a mental photo album of all the things you’d done and the people you’d met—a birthday party, the first time you drove, someone’s face when you told them they’d never be as pretty as you, your mother’s reprimanding glare when you didn’t win the pageant title you were supposed to, you as a little girl waiting on the front steps for your father to come home—it’s all there. The good, the bad, the ugly. All of it.
You can try to focus on the good—like the face of the person you loved—but it’s no use. Whether you want to or not, you see it all. It must be God’s way of letting you see what he saw so you aren’t surprised when you end up on the other side in Hell. Which is exactly where I’d assumed I’d just booked a first class ticket too.
I was too weak to fight it—to argue that I was in fact a good person—once the storm decided that I was going to be one of its victims, there was nothing I could do but try to hold on to the face of the one person I was sure I’d never see again.
Served me right. I shouldn’t have waited to tell him how I felt. I should have told him the moment I felt it. The moment I realized that despite what I’d done in my past, I was a better person just for loving him.
As the darkness and quiet started to surround me, I knew that it was too late to beg for forgiveness now. Instead, I just closed my eyes and prayed for mercy.

Series info:
Whether you believe in destiny, divine intervention, or just plain ol' dumb luck, several things happened in 2013 that caused E. Lee and C. Quinn's paths to cross. It may have been that the stars aligned perfectly, or the fact anytime Luke Bryan was mentioned on a social media site both of them were tagged, or maybe it was just that their small town roots and country girl attitudes were magnetically drawn together—calling out to one another, “Y'all should write a book!” Despite geography keeping them apart—Lee in Illinois and Quinn in Alabama—they did. Thanks to three-hour phone calls, ridiculous amounts of online chats, and umpteen Google Docs—Storm Warning is the first book in their edgy new Young Adult series, Broken Heartland.

Author Bios:
Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!
If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.

Book Review: Owning Violet
Owning Violet (The Fowler Sisters #1) by Monica Murphy: New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.
I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family’s business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.
Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.
One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug, and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure, and I believe him. For once, I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.
My everything.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Owning Violet generously provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**
I finished Owning Violet last week and I’vebeen contemplating my review since. I’m big fan of this author’s Drew + Fableseries so I my excitement for her journey into erotic was definitely there.Unfortunately, the story of Violet and Ryder fell a bit flat for my tastes.
The plot intrigued me, it had manipulations working beneath the surface –almost Cruel Intentions’ish – that I really like. The execution however justdidn’t work. Despite the raw passion between the two characters which I reallydid enjoy, I never connected with Violet or understood her motivations. She wasa demure heroine then became fierce in an instant. She was zero to sixty withno transition period in between. The dark and dangerous hero Ryder McKay had alot going for him and I felt I connected more with his character than Violet’s.The story boasts a lot of push/pull and anticipation that became redundant asdid some of the repetitive language the author chose. The betrayal andmanipulations are what really kept me skimming through the story, without themI may have not have finished.
As I stated, Owning Violet had potential for methat was never fully realized. It wasn’t what I was expecting. The story ofRyder and Violet just wasn’t a story for me.

Book Review: Riding Steele #6
Riding Steele #6: Aftershock by Opal Carew: In the arms of an outlaw, she found the freedom to live out her wildest fantasies. Don’t miss this scorching new six-part mini-series from New York Times bestselling author Opal Carew! When Laurie is kidnapped by bikers, she has no idea her life is about to change forever. From the moment she meets Steele—their sinfully sexy leader—she can’t deny their fierce attraction. Even though she’s completely at his mercy, his eyes soften when he looks at her, and the others in his gang know she’s strictly hands off. But the more time she spends with Steele, the more her body insists she wants his powerful hands all over her.
Now she’s about to discover a new life on the open road…and what it means to be part of a gang that shares everything. At first their wanton lifestyle shocks her senses—but once she’s had a taste of life on the edge, will she ever want to leave?Don't miss the other installments of Riding Steele: Kidnapped (Part 1), Untamed (Part 2), Collide (Part 3), Wanted (Part 4) and Crossroads (Part 5)
TeriLyn's thoughts: Riding Steele: Aftershock concluded this serial series in a rather underwhelming way. The eroticism laced throughout the first five novellas was hardly present her. And something about the path these two characters followed to the ending felt contradictory and contrived, especially Steele. His actions then reactions completely surprised me. Laurie was redeeming even though she felt weighed down by the abuse of her past. Her going after what she wants held as the best part of this fast-paced story. These stories are very short so character development limits itself with the pace of plot. Maybe that's why I felt a disconnect with Steele. Overall, I'd recommend this series if you want a quick roll with a MC president and an abused heroine. It won't take you long to get through the novellas - just don't be expected a huge ending. In my opinion, book six could have been cut down and added to book 5 to end there.

Book Review: Swept Away
Swept Away Volume One (Swept Away #1) by J. Haymore: He is everywhere. He surrounds me, wends his way under my skin. I can’t escape his strength, his intensity, his presence.
I’m trapped.
There’s nowhere to run.
Nowhere to hide.
But even if I could escape... would I be strong enough to leave?
I needed something — something big — to get myself out of the rut I’d fallen into after the car accident that killed my sister. This sailing trip was meant only to mark a new chapter in my life. Until Ethan Williams stepped on board.
Ethan radiated confidence. His darkly handsome good looks and ocean-blue eyes mesmerized me. But it was the way he looked at me that drew me in. He wasn’t looking at my past or at my scars, but the real me behind all that baggage I was trying so hard to leave behind.
But Ethan had secrets—dark, dangerous secrets. I was trapped in the middle of the ocean in a tangle of lies, sex, and violence. The problem was, I was happy to be trapped forever...if it meant I could have him.
Warning: Swept Away is not for people under 18.
Jennifer's thoughts: I enjoyed the first installment of this series. In this installment we are introduced to Tara. She has lived through a tragedy and is ready to experience some good in her life. She decides to go on an "adventure" with her friend, Kyle---sailing from California to Hawaii. She just wants to feel normal again.
Tara meets Ethan and this is a good thing? Well...maybe. Emotions run high and secrets, lies, and violence become a part of this "adventure" she is on.
Good read!

Book Review: Bait
Bait (Wake #1) by M. Mabie: He was trouble from the start, but I couldn't resist.
[She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.]
I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.
[I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.]
He’s almost impossible to say no to.
[She never tells me yes.]
We’re always fighting.
[When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.]
He makes me laugh so hard.
[I miss her laugh the most.]
I'm a liar.
[She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.]
Sometimes, I wish I'd never met him.
[I wish we could meet all over again. I'd do better.]
His girlfriend knows.
[The guy she’s with is a fool.]
I’ll never love anyone like I love him.
[She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.]
It was the wrong place.
[It was the wrong time.]
It should have been him.
[It will always be her.]
*This book contains adult situations and is recommended for adult readers.
Jennifer's thoughts: Oh! My! Gosh!!!!! This book almost pushed me over the edge. I loved it--then hated it--then loved it, and then threw my kindle across the room!
Blake: Make up your damn mind already!!!!!
I don't want to give to much away so you need to read it for yourself....then you'll see:)!
Seriously, this may be the best book I have read this year----right there with Ugly Love and Easy Virtue.
I read and read until my eyes were blurry....but I finished the damn book only to be left with UGH!!!
I know this review seems more like a rant, but I truly loved the story of Blake and Casey. It may seem like an unhealthy love, but it is a GREAT love story. Just please......M. Mabie----give us part 2----soon!
