Second Debt

“I tried to play a game. I tried to wield deceit as perfectly as the Hawks. But when I thought I was winning, I wasn’t. Jethro isn’t what he seems—he’s the master of duplicity. However, I refuse to let him annihilate me further.”

Nila Weaver has grown from naïve seamstress to full-blown fighter. Every humdrum object is her arsenal, and sex…sex is her greatest weapon of all.

She’s paid the First Debt. She’ll probably pay more.

But she has no intention of letting the Hawks win.

Jethro Hawk has found more than a worthy adversary in Nila—he’s found the woman who could destroy him. There’s a fine line between hatred and love, and an even finer path between fear and respect.

The fate of his house rests on his shoulders, but no matter how much ice lives inside his heart, Nila flames too bright to be extinguished.

★★★★★! Second Debt, book 3 of 7. A dark & sexual tale of Jethro’s quest to collect a centuries old debt from Nila when lust, feelings & traditions get in the way!

“My skin begged for his touch. My lips tingled for his. Every inch of me craved what he could deliver.”

Books in Indebted Serial should be read in order:
Book 1: Debt Inheritance
Book 2: First Debt
Book 3: Second Debt
Book 4: Third Debt
Book 5: Fourth Debt
Book 6: Final Debt
Book 7: Indebted Epilogue

In Indebted, book 1-2 fashion designer Nila Weaver, Threads was introduced to and then forcefully taken by the sophisticated and mysterious Jethro Hawk, Jet. Upon her arrival at Jet’s ancestor’s home, Hawksridge Hall she was informed that she was to repay a debt owed to his family by her family for centuries. The story went on to follow Nila in her captivity; the power struggle and sexual tension that ensued while she was forced to make payments on the debt.

Second Debt (book 3) picks up at book 2’s ending. Jet and Nila’s lives are unraveling with some staggering truths, intense clandestine sex and feelings entering the picture. They can no longer hide behind the facade of indifference, manipulation and ulterior motives.

Yet they are both on a set course and under constant scrutiny. Nila doesn’t even know what her next debt entails and Jethro cannot tell her as he is struggling for control in a sinister game with hidden agendas, ever-changing rules, unseen players and likely far more powerful forces out to destroy them...

I’m craving Jethro Hawk, Jet! A product of an abusive upbringing he learned early on to coop with his destiny, all traces of goodness obliterated.

Eight words to describe Jethro: Ruthless, mercurial, complex, conflicted, determined, commanding, vengeful and tortured.

 photo di1hexBSbysb_zpse2164352.gif

Eight words to describe Nila Weaver, Threads: Naïve, focused, impressionable, frail, spirited, feisty, confused and calculated.

Second Debt is the culmination of so many things. Some answers are provided only for more questions to arise. It’s a dark, intense, sexy, suspenseful roller-coaster of events and emotions. I devoured this story and lived for the moments with Jethro. Story ends shockingly leading right to book 4, Third Debt for the continuation of their saga.

Sexual tension galore! Raw, rough and intense sex! Complex, dark and swoon-worthy Jethro! Sinister and addictive plot! Spellbinding story-telling!
I smell epic saga!

“If we hadn’t been bound by sin and debts and a lust that refused to be denied, we were now.”

Second Debt is another deliciously dark and intense installment in the Indebted series. With every book in this series, I get more drawn in, more invested in Nila and Jethro’s story. I have to know what happens next. And after the ending of this one, I’m just dying for the next one!

Nila Weaver thought maybe there was something more to Jethro Hawk. That she could make him care for her. Fall for her. And maybe, just maybe, things would turn out differently for her than the rest of the Weaver women. But then Nila sees something that changes that for her. It makes her lose all emotion for anyone with the name Hawk. All emotion except for hate.

 photo 0e622629-127a-4966-b4ba-2c6b92e8f1b0_zps34c698f1.jpg

Jethro will do what he has to. He is a Hawk. It’s his legacy, but it’s more than that. It’s not just whats expected of him, it’s required. In Debt Inheritance, I wondered if Jethro Hawk was a redeemable man, or truly just a monster. In First Debt, I thought that maybe, just maybe he wasn’t as bad as I originally thought. After reading Second Debt, Pepper did something I didn’t think she’d be able to do. Not only did she make Jethro redeemable to me, but she made me love the guy. He’s not perfect- no where near perfect, but he is doing what he has to do to survive. And in his own way, he does care for Nila. Maybe even more than cares for her… he makes that fairly obvious.
“You’re mine, therefore, you are my affliction. So I will feel what you feel, and i will live what you live. You won’t understand what I mean. Not yet. But it’s my best sacrifice. The only thing I can offer.”

Nila is so much tougher than I ever gave her credit for. The things she’s gone through, the emotion and turmoil she feels. It’s a lot to handle. And on top of all that, worrying about her life and death situation, she’s gone and done something she swore she would never do. As much hate she has for the Hawks, Jethro has worked his way into her heart.
I’d become enraptured by my capturer. My tormentor. My would-be murderer. I only had eyes for him. My heart only beat for him. What does that say about me?
 photo 3cd6c293-b3e3-4106-b340-9819feb83d58_zps74bc4291.jpg

This series has hooked me. I can’t stop reading. I am half way through, and I am even more invested than I was in the beginning. I need to know what happens with this couple. I love how these books keep me on edge. I never know what sick and twisted things are going to happen. I never know whether I’m going to cry, smile, or rage.

I love how strong this heroine is. I love how Pepper has created an unlovable antihero and made me fall for him. Being in Jethro’s head makes it so easy to see whats going on and makes me feel his struggle. Feel his conflict. My heart breaks for these two. I’m not sure how it’s going to be possible for them to have their happy ending, but I guess we have a few books left. If I’ve learned anything about this series it’s that anything can happen…

If you’re looking for a dark, twisted, erotic, fast paced and captivating series, these are books I highly recommend. I love Pepper’s writing, and the story is just so unexpected and great!

I’d become enraptured by my CAPTURER. My TORMENTOR. My would-be MURDERER. I only had eyes for HIM. My heart only beat for HIM.

“I found you. I stole you. I took you from others who didn’t appreciate the gift of what you are, and now I’m NEVER letting you go.”

I have to get this out of my chest first: ARRRGH GOD F*CKIN DAMMIT!

That cliffy... I... HOW... WHY...

Pepper Winters is one of my favorite authors, in the world of books that are dark, damaged and twisted. No doubt, she is one of the best in her genre, too. She started off the “Indebted” series with a messed-up, intense and almost irredeemable hero, she shook some of his masks off in “First Debt” and she unsheeted him from his icy exterior completely in “Second Debt”, showing us his beautiful and broken soul. With every new book, she throws a few answers in our way and succeeds in dumping ten more on the pile of secrets, mysteries and question marks. With every new book, her story evolves and gets even more delicious. With every new book, she extracts more emotions, all new, all different, from her readers. My still wet cheeks after hours since finishing the book, are a good enough testimony to that, I believe...

** If you haven't read Book#1 and Book#2 yet, I advise you not to read any further, as my review will contain minor spoilers, but it will remain spoiler-free of Book#3, of course. **

Nila Weaver believed she heard Jethro’s cry for help, to get free from his deceitful, cold, colorless life. She believed she could seduce him, make him care for her and use him in her war against his evil family. All the while, keeping her own heart frigid, glacial and empty. What Nila didn’t take into account was the similarity she kept sensing between her and Jethro, though. And just like that, she couldn't stop the irresistible and dangerous feelings of softness and belonging coursing through her veins and evading her every single cell, with each day that passed.

Jethro Hawk was cornered, trapped and terribly desperate for a way out of the mess that was his life. His father and brothers saw right through his façade. His cold and icy armor was melting, day by day, and no longer held fortress. The pain he used as “therapy” wasn't working anymore. His visits to his sister weren't working anymore. All because of Nila Weaver. She crept inside his palisaded soul, weakening him, and shone a light on everything he'd been hiding inside. She became really close to discovering “his disease”. Jethro wasn't angry though, no, he was grateful, because Nila was “curing” him with her warmth and innocence.

Nila Weaver had feelings for Jethro. NOT ANYMORE, THOUGH. Not after seeing THAT. Now, all she wants is to be the last Weaver stolen. Now, all she wants is revenge and all she can feel is hate. Now, all she aims for is freedom. For herself, for her future children and grandchildren. Now, Nila is doing what she thinks is best: Building a thick wall between herself and Jethro.

Jethro Hawk had feelings for Nila. NOT ANYMORE, THOUGH. Not after she saw THAT. Now, she is a liar. Same as everybody else. Now, she is a user. Same as everybody else. Now, she is a manipulator. Same as everybody else. No, she didn't understand him, she didn't see him, she didn't feel him. Same as everybody else. Now, Jethro is doing what he thinks is best: Building a thick wall between himself and Nila.

How long will it take for them to understand that there will be no Weaver without Hawk? No Nila without Jethro? No Threads without Kite?

“You’re mine, therefore, you are my affliction. So I will feel what you feel, and I will live what you live. You won’t understand what I mean. Not yet. But it’s my best sacrifice. The only thing I can offer.
~ KITE007

Ready yourselves for one hellova emotional rollercoaster ride! The rules of the game are constantly changing. The team members are constantly changing. Your cards are constantly gaining and losing value. You have to always be on the edge of your seat, paying attention to details, sentences thrown in here and there, words that look familiar. This series is like a puzzle and I promise you, it is so much fun!

“You will let me inside you. And you will let me own you. You will, because we don’t have a choice. You’re inside me. DON’T YOU GET IT? You’re inside ME and it’s only fair that I’m inside YOU.”

“Second Debt” is the third installment in Pepper Winters's “Indebted” series and picks right where the last installment ends.

To say this book was intense and kept me on the edge of my seat it would be a understatement. There’s so much going on in this installment. The story is so unpredictable, you never know what will happened next. It’s angsty, twisted and I couldn’t put it down. Nila and Jethro’s relationship becomes more and more complicated with every installment.

Like I mentioned before, the story continues from where the last one ended. Nila found out Jethro’s secret. She found out that he had been playing her and screwed with her head, so it’s time for payback. She decides to fight, to be the last Weaver stolen. All she wants is revenge.

description

“This was about me. Me standing up for myself, and for a future I wanted, not a future already planned for me.”

Even if he wants Jethro and his family to pay for everything, she can’t deny how badly she wants him, how much she craves his touch, how their chemistry and the need to devour each other are stronger than ever.

If in the previous installment Jethro starts to change, to be more human, in this one he is changed almost completely. He didn’t expect his enemy to change him like that. Nila makes it hard for him to remember that he’s the enemy, that he’s a Hawk and that everyone has certain expectations from him.

“You’re inside me. Don’t you get it? You’re inside me. And it’s only fair that I’m inside you.”

description

Jethro has a secret, a secret that only his sister Jasmine knows about it. For years Jethro has been hiding who/what he is. What his father and brothers see is just a façade. He knows he must be very cautious with what he does and says in front of others if he wants to live or if he wants to save Nila. His methods to keep his secret hidden don’t work anymore and all because of Nila. He’s convinced that she’s the only one who can help him, who can cure him.

description

As the story progress Nila has to pay the second debt. She realizes she can’t hate Jethro, not when without realizing she fell for him.

"In that simple fusion of flavour and souls, we gave up. We gave in."

I loved both Jethro and Nila in this installment. They both are well developed and I enjoyed their dynamic. Like it’s mentioned, their chemistry is of the charts and the sex scenes hotter than ever. I loved to be in Jethro’s head. Like in the previous book, the way he struggle with his feelings is very well done. I really felt for him.

Nila is once again a great heroine in this installment. She’s a fighter and she tries to stay strong. My heart broke for her when she had to pay the second debt.

The story is full of twists and turns, every one of them intriguing. Like I expected this installment ends with a cliffhanger. I’m not gonna lie, unfortunately it’s a big one. I didn’t see it coming and I don’t have any idea how the story will progress. I can’t wait to read the next book! I have no doubt it will blow my mind!

Overall, a fabulous read!

If we can’t hate Jethro hawk is because there is no stable identity to hate, , he’s been manipulating and screwing with Nila's head sometimes he is human loving caring lover and other times a blood thirsty monster , Do i think that Jethro is a hypocrite ? Well i do, and so should you !! He pretend to be a cold monster but his actions is telling us otherwise ! I dont even know what’s going on any more the story has lots of turns and twist !! Jethro is struggling with his own feelings for Nila Depriving himself of Love and Fulfillment even though His ice is melting he still keeps fighting it, I hate that he doesn't have the balls to confront his father about who he truly is he doesn't want to let them down nor does he want to live away from them I don't even know how to hate him, I can only think of forgiveness and sympathy , by the end of the book i was like Whaaaaat :O No no no no no don’t go and leave him behind

4.5 STARS! ★★★★☆

"In that simple fusion of flavour and souls, we gave up. We gave in."

If I can just sum up this book in ONE word, it would be f*cking INTENSE. Okay okay, that's two words but holy hell! This one could have set my Kindle repeatedly on fire with the amount of angst and smokin hot scenes. Everything was just burning up with this instalment, emotions were running an all time high and the series of events unfolding went on a whole new level that's about to spin out of control.

"You don't know the meaning of intense. I'll show you intense. I'll show you what it's like to live in a world full of fucking intensity."

Ladies, we are about to move into some dangerous territories with this one and what an absolute rollercoaster ride it was. If there's anything that this author can do right, it's definitely throwing these characters into the depths of hell and making them claw their way back up. I don't even want to go too much into details but if you think the First Debt act was cruel and vicious, you ain't see nothing yet till you see the Second Debt.

"Delusions were no longer something to fear, but to be embraced. Delusions brought fantasies to life, soothing me, eradicating monsters from my world."

I've never been so terrified for a character's life and trust me, Ms Winters delivered the dark and gritty with this act. My heart was in my throat as I read that scene and in that moment, I truly felt and grabbed onto every inch of resilience that was left in Nila.

The push and pull dynamic between Jethro and Nila definitely intensifies, they're both prisoners in their own ways and won't be long anymore till they break into each defences and release themselves from the shackles. We definitely got to delve so much more into Jethro's psyche and make you feel for this iceman. Feelings that they both can no longer ignore but with acceptance, could it save them or worst of all, get them both killed.

"We were damned to our fates, brought together by a ridiculous vendetta. Yet..something right had come out of something so wrong. We'd somehow found the one person we were meant to find."

And holy freakin hell, with each book comes a bigger cliffy that makes me anxious for the next one! This ending once again will propel the series into another direction and I absolutely cannot wait to see what Ms Winters has in store for us. I have no doubt in my mind that with each book, this series just keeps getting better and better. I bow down to you, Ms Winters!

Second Debt is the 3rd book in the Indebted series and must be read in order with the previous books.

Pepper Winters has the ability to leave me shell shocked every time. This book was completely intense, it kept me on edge the entire time I was reading it and at the end I was open mouthed, turning the page in hope to read more, but nope, it was the ending! My god, woman, why are you so cruel??

Oh how much had I missed Jethro and Nila! As soon as I started reading Second Debt, I found myself going through several emotions. But let me just tell you that I ship them. I ship them so fucking hard it hurts.

I hadn't liked Jet on Debt Inheritance, I thought how is it possible to like such a character and root for him? But oh my god.. Pepper has the ability to change not only your mind, but your worldview. I'm at the point that if they won't get their HEA I'm going to cause a serious damage. On my laptop more likely or my kindle device.

WARNING!

If you haven't read the previous books, this review may contain spoilers. Do not read if you don't want to get spoiled!

At the ending on the previous book, Nila found out something about Jethro, that made her once again shut down her growing feelings. So when Second Debt starts, we find her fighting him, with her plan to take revenge, escape and be the last Weaver that gets stolen.

"It's time for a new debt- one that owes us life, not death."

Jethro has no idea that Nila knows about his secret, but he's watching her change of attitude and her words make him think that she's just like everyone else. That she doesn't understand him and can't see the truth.

"Don't you see I'm bad, but I'm not the worst?"

Both characters have developed so much since the first book, but we can also notice a character development throughout this installation as well. We can see Nila becoming a fighter, a strong woman, but there are still issues she hasn't overcome and she's struggling around the Hawks. We can also see Jethro, dialing with his own issues, trying to control himself and claiming that he deals with a 'disease'.

"There was no me without him.
No Nila without Jethro.
No Threads without Kite."

I have no words to describe about the last part of the book. That cliffhanger, that way to end this... I don't know how I can wait. I honestly need this asap. My heart broke in tiny little pieces and I need things to change. I have no idea how the story is going to evolve and that's something that I love about Pepper's writing. It keeps you guessing, it's never predictable and it's always incredibly awesome.

If you haven't read these books yet, go read them now!

Reread on July 22/20!
I decided to give myself a refresher in preparation for my Buddy Read on "Third Debt." Whew! I am super glad I did. Considering I read this back in 2015, and also that my brain is terrible at remembering details...I know it was a good idea, and now I am all refreshed...LOL!
Time to finally move on to the next one. With the cliffhanger I just read, I can't for the life of me figure out why I didn't continue on?? There must have been another book at the time that distracted me!!! I do tend to have a wandering mind when it comes to my mood reading!
Alright Steph...I am ready to move on to the next!

First Read: August 19/15

Another excellent instalment of this dark and exciting series by Pepper Winters. This series has me captivated, and the twisted "relationship" between the mysterious and sexy Jethro and the feisty, hard to break Nila, has so much intensity and sizzle that I literally absorb every word of their interactions!

Pepper Winters has done an amazing job of creating such explosive chemistry between the hero and heroine that the reader easily forgets that these two are supposed to be enemies.
It's heartbreaking to witness such a beautiful connection between these two souls and have them know that they need to hide and fight what they feel for one another.

Again we end up with even more questions and so few answers. I'm quite positive all the anticipation will pay off in the conclusion when it finally arrives!

I'm so glad I have decided to pick up this series, and I am becoming enamoured by the cold as ice man, Jethro!

This series is a must read for lovers of darker romances! Moving on to the third debt; I'm scared to know what's going to have to be paid for the third debt.

Okay, this book was intense and explosive! As of now I’ve actually read it twice and even knowing what happens while I read the second time around, these characters and plot twists still manage to surprise me. That’s one thing I love about this book and series – the story is just so unpredictable. Books that keep me on my toes, has an edgy romance, and dynamic characters are my favorite, and this book had all three.

This 3rd book continues directly from where the last one ended. In a nutshell, Nila has paid the first debt in full, is still a prisoner of sorts in the Hawk mansion, and has developed feelings for Jethro whether she likes it or not. And the same can be said of Jethro. The first part of this book is focused on the push/pull dynamic between the two, creating delicious angst that’s believable because of the circumstances that make any kind of romance impossible. But at the same time I was a little frustrated with Nila because Jethro was trying his best to reach out to her while fending off his family’s demands, and she brushes him off. Coming from a romance reader’s point of view, I didn’t like it but I understood her mentality and need to protect herself first, regardless of her growing love for him.

The second half of the book picked up in terms of plot, and it’s what really got me hooked. Among other events, Nila has to pay the second debt now and from the moment she finds out what it is to the history that links back to it to the actual execution of her debt…I had to remind myself to breathe. It all played out like a trainwreck I couldn’t do anything to stop, yet I couldn’t look away from either. And for me, this was the turning point in Nila and Jethro’s relationship, where the slave/master terminology no longer applied to them, and where they truly acknowledged each other as equals.

description

The ending of this book is a doozy. Simply put, I did not expect the story to go where it did. It was a complete shocker and a wickedly brilliant move from the author, but it worries me too because I really have no clue where Nila and Jethro’s story could go from this point on. I have quite a few theories in mind though and I can’t wait to see what the author has planned for them in the next book!

Second Debt is the third installment in the Indebted serial (total of 6 books) and must be read after the first two books. The author has prefaced in all of these books that cliffhangers are to be expected and while it’ll leave you desperate for the next one, it’ll also be a satisfying reading experience as each of these books has a full beginning, middle, and end. Previous questions will be answered while presenting new ones at the same time.

I wanted to be like him. I wanted to protect my secrets so damn well that whatever I did next would come as a surprise.
I wanted to rule him.

When Debt Inheritance came out, Pepper Winters introduced us to the cold, brutal, terrifyingly unfeeling Jethro Hawk. And with each new installment of this series she has been systematically chipping away at his armor to reveal more and more of the man that keeps hidden inside, behind the icy persona. In Second Debt, if you're not convinced of his internal struggle that he's been facing since he first laid eyes on Nila Weaver, then we haven't been reading the same book.

And while Jethro's steely reinforcements have been tumbling down, Nila has been busy building hers back up. When she comes face to face with the cold hard truth of her imminent future, she can no longer deny it. She knows what's coming for her and she needs to accept it. She also has to accept the fact that the one man that she's felt an unwilling connection to will also be the man that deals the death blow. She can't possibly care for a monster. She needs to be just as cold and lethal as the rest of the Hawks.

I didn't want food or water or shelter.
I didn't need love or understanding or connection.
I wanted retribution.
I wanted justice.

.
But now the tables have turns, and it's not only Nila that's facing a danger. For years Jethro has been hiding a secret about who he is...what he is. A secret that just may cost him everything, including his life. It's a secret that he's been diligently keeping from everyone in his family. All but his sister Jasmine.

But ever since Nila Weaver has stepped into his life, his methods of keeping it secret no longer suffice. He yearns for her and knows that she may be the only cure to what he needs. Nila is no longer the naive woman that first stepped through the doors of the Hawk estate. She's learned pain, she's learned hatred, and she's ready to taste revenge. But no matter how much she tells herself that Jethro should be at the center focus of her hate, she can't deny the inexplicable connection that they've formed; a connection that he seems to feel just as much.
Our eyes locked with fury.
Then something happened.
Something switched.
Fury became desire.
Desire became insanity.
I couldn't withstand the command.
"Fuck this."
I kissed her.

Much like the installments before it, Second Debt is a book that will keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time. Pepper will leave you crying and begging for any new scraps of information that she deems worthy to throw your way. It's as painful as it is engrossing. You'll get some answers only to be left with even bigger questions.
What was this...this tether? How had she captured me so completely, and how the fuck did I sever it?
The deeper I fell into her, the worst it got.

Then comes that cliffhanger. I should be used to this by now, 3rd book in, right? Fucking wrong! That was freaking painful. This woman is the queen of giving you just enough while leaving you begging for more. It's truly a skill, and I for one can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next

Dark, disturbing and utterly consuming.

If there’s one author who I can guarantee will get my heart pounding at what I’m reading it would have to be Pepper Winters. She’s in a class all of her own in dark erotica and this series is getting ever darker with each instalment if that’s even possible.  She transforms the written word into absolute physical horror and it’s so freaking compelling, it’s not true.

As always with these Debt Inheritance books, the story ambles along at a fairly steady pace until it’s time for Nila to start paying those debts back to the Hawks, a family so deeply steeped in tradition and persecution.  I really did fear for Nila after the first debt as they are promised to get worse each time and boy was I right.  Nothing could have prepared me for the sheer horror of the Second Debt.  I had an incredible physical reaction to it – I was reading late at night and should have been putting my Kindle down to sleep but no way in hell was I able to tear my eyes away from the page.  All the fine hairs on my arms stood on end, my heart started to pound, my pupils dilated – very few authors can get such a response from me but I take my hat off to Pepper Winters.  She manages it.  Every. Damn. Time.

All the time I was reading it, I was wondering to myself – how CAN Jethro do this to Nila, the woman he is so obviously falling in love with .  He’s staring into the abyss and the abyss is staring right back at him and half of me truly hates him and the other half is reluctantly beginning to fall for him along with Nila.

I may be born a Hawk, but I’ve been captured by a Weaver.

Yes, despite everything and all that is threatened, Nila and Jethro are falling in love.  There;s an incredible passion, a blazing fierce intensity building between them that they are powerless to resist  and I find myself completely caught up in this despite the fact that Jethro is ultimately Nila’s executioner to be.  She has grown so much since the beginning of the story and her passion is stripping him of his arctic armour and thawing out that ice-cold heart.  There’s a lot to admire in Nila as she truly stands up for herself in this one and gives as good as she gets.

This is so dark and disturbing but so bloody compelling that I am now desperate for the next book especially after that mother of a cliffy at the end and I can’t even begin to think how awful the Third Debt is likely to be.  This was a stunningly good read and, to date, my only 5 star rating of 2015.

5 horrifically addictive stars

Holy mother of all Cliffhangers!!!
If you thought book #1 and book #2 was terrifying, book #3 is ten folds INTENSE than first two! The entire game of Debt Inheritance has been changed by the very love infiltrating hearts and minds of Debtor and Debtee.

Second debt starts off with Nila learning the truth of her mother’s disappearance and her fate if and when she pays her final debt, the very proof of that is the past of her ancestors, every first born weaver women who were stolen to pay off the debts buried on the land of Hawks. With this shattering revelation Nila is determined to destroy every living breathing Hawks for bringing despair to Weavers for generations now, even the strong feelings she had for Jethro couldn’t change her mind or melt her heart and all she craves for is REVENGE!

On other hand Jethro lives in constant state dilemma. Since age of sixteen his father trained him to become cold, callous and cynical, to become a perfect manipulative first born Hawk to be able to extract the debt when he its required of him, but now when he is supposed to play the role he was so ambitious prepared for, he sees his very wall built around him shattering, it’s like Nila could see through his façade. No matter how hard he tries he’s not able to guard his heart or soul and he knows that he has to let her in to heal him, to save him and to love him. But with his new found desire he can’t seem to step back from his legacy, the obligation to his family, and this very weakness might cost him more than his life!
“It’s your initials that I bear.
Your mark.
Your brand.
I may be born a Hawk,
but I’ve been captured by a Weaver.”
In this tug of war of Love and hate can they accept their attraction and risk everything or will they be prisoners of their fate? With every book new secrets are unfolded, plot is thickened and players have their lives at stake! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Jethro and Nila in the game of ‘Debt Inheritance’

Pepper winters is queen of EMOTIONS! I mean all shades of emotions, every word was so loud and powerful I felt every bit of their struggle, rage, passion, conflict and above all their undeniable love. If you want to feel your heart to bloom with joy and stabbed with the knife JUST PICK HER BOOK!! Only she could change the perspective of an Anti-hero to a heartthrob! Jethro is one helluva character, I remember saying in my review of ‘Debt inheritance’ that I hated his inner thoughts but now I forever want to reside in his head.

P.S: Thank you Eda for gifting me with this copy, you are soon becoming my most favorite person *winks* muahhh!♥

Second Debt is the third book of the series, and it picks up exactly where the last one ended. I had no idea what to expect in this book. I just knew that the crazy ride was going to continue, and boy did it.

Nila Weaver, had discovered a secret Jethro was keeping from her. She realized the one she confided in the most, was the same man that was messing with her. Nila wants Jethro to feel the pain of being deceived. However, in the last book, Nila's feelings for Jethro changed. We got to see another side to him. Nila tries her hardest to not want him, especially after finding something that made things real for her on Hawk grounds. Jethro is not willing to let her shut him out completely. The attraction between them keeps getting stronger. He wants to fight it, but he can't. And it seems Nila can't either. Yet this could all end when it becomes time to extract the second debt.

Holy cow! This series never seizes to hook me into the story. I liked seeing Nila working on Jethro's walls. Slowly but surely we continue to see more of who Jethro really is. Jethro has been bred by his family from a small child to be the man he has now become. He has a secret from his family, one that only his sister Jasmine knows. He is more than just a tool his family uses and manipulates, he's human. And somehow, Nila makes that human side come out, one the feels, yearns, and hopes. He wants Nila, plain and simple. While Jethro's walls go down, Nila works hard at trying to build her up. She doesn't want to accept that she is falling for the man the will ultimately kill her. Their connections is unavoidable, and consumes them both, they have no choice than to give in. And I don't blame them one bit because it was explosive.

With each page that I read, the more engrossed in the story I became. It was just messing up my thoughts and feelings. I thought I would never fall in love with Jethro, but I totally did. My heart hurt at seeing his vulnerability come out. I hated seeing how caged he was by his family. Then my heart would melt at watching him fall in love. It was too much for my feels. I loved how strong Nila was. I honestly don't know how anyone can endure what she did and have any smidgen of sanity left. I loved the pace of the story and I can't wait to read what happens next. Because to be honest, it could be anything. Especially after that freaking cliffhanger. If you like dark and twisted reads, that keep you intrigued, then this one is it.

~FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ~

Second Debt is the third installment in the Debt of Inheritance series.
This book can't be read as a stand-alone so if you haven't read the previous two books. it's best to stop reading this review and start the series with Debt Inheritance and First Debt

This books got me hooked from the first page until the last (and damn, that ending!! But we'll get back to it in time)

description

Do you remember where we left Nila and Jethro in book 2? No? Just a little reminder then ;)

Nila learned the thuth about Kite's identity.
Now, two days later, Nila still struggles with the revelation. She tries to understand why Jethro contacted her before they met.

"He would communicated with me almost as if it were a cry for help, rather than a plot to deceive"

She senses a connection between them but at the same time she's suspicious. She doesn't trust herself and she doesn't trust him enough.
Jethro is a little lost, he know what's expect of him yet he knows he is weaken by his feeling for Nila

"I craved her so intensely. I would break both of us before any more debts were paid"

description

He also hide a secret , something deep inside him which has to stay hidden.

"It was best to hate everything and everyone. To hide my true desires even from myself"

description

Gradually with every pages and events happening in the book, both of them find it difficult to hide their feeling towards each other. Yet both of them have doubts.
Nila goes from a woman determined to leave, to escape his fate to a woman tortured by her desires.

"I couldn't hate someone who lived in the same cage as I did"

Jethro see his ice shell melt every time he is in the presence of the young woman.

Once again, I'm in awe by Pepper Winters ability to captivate me, to captivate her readers. I could have read the book in one sitting if the word "work" didn't exist.

I was completely taken by the story, the stakes, the truths and the various questions which take place throughout the book.

I found Nila has to stop tergiversate but at the same time, her prisonner state is hard to live.
In compensation, I loved the moments where both of them are quiet and at peace and we could almost believe that nothing stand between them.
You make me better even while making me worse

And now can we talk about the ending?

description

That is horrible! I have like a thousand questions in my mind. I want answers now!

“Kiss me,Nila. Let me bring you back to life. - Jethro”

“My skin begged for his touch. My lips tingled for his. Every inch of me craved what he could deliver.”

“You will let me inside you. And you will let me own you. You will, because we don’t have a choice. You’re inside me. Don't you get it? You’re inside ME and it’s only fair that I’m inside you.” - Jethro”

“I can feel you. I know that doesn’t make sense, but the moment you give in to me; the moment you let yourself submit...it saves me. I can’t explain it, but you heal me, Nila.” Jethro”

“Nothing could’ve prepared me for this. Nothing could’ve taught me to feel this way. I’m ready to forget everything. I’m ready to be selfish and steal you like you stole me.” Jethro”

“I only want you", she groaned. "Only you. Promise me that I can keep you. Promise me."
My heart...shit, my heart.
It unlocked.
The padlock fell free.
Her words were a key. Her forgiveness, and love and strength and everything that made her pure stole me from my life of pain.
She changed me.
Right there.
Right then.
I became hers.
Irreversibly.”

5+ I ❤️ Jethro even more stars!

 photo image.jpg2_zpsszk8yrlu.jpg

The third installment of the Indebted series, was all-consuming. This is an awesomely intense read, full of questions, anxiety, and forbidden lust.

At the end of First Debt, Nila had found out one of the mysteries we've been dying for: Who the hell is Kite007? She needs to figure out how to use this information to help out her situation.

 photo image.jpg1_zpstgr6qig6.jpg

While Nila is slowly falling for her enemy, she comes across something that changes her outlook on her circumstances. Hawksridge holds the ghosts of her ancestors past. This knowledge gives her the fight that she needs to be strong. To be the last Weaver indebted.

Jethro is also dealing with his own feelings for Nila. His ice is melting. With all these new thoughts and complications, he has forgotten a ritual that is to take place after each debt is paid. The "tally" will bond the two forever.

Before she'd arrived, I'd been a ball of twine- carefully packaged with no loose ends in sight. But Nila, with her needles and scissors, had somehow found a thread and pulled.

 photo image.jpg3_zpss6erwjxg.jpg

The pull these two share is unequivocal. They are tethered together. The craving they have for one another cannot be denied any longer.

 photo image.jpg4_zpsrp5oyqiy.jpg

Will these desires still hold true once the Second Debt is paid?

This book will have you squirming on the inside with the uncertainty of what will come, and will also have you squirming in your seat with epic sexual tension and the culmination of their passion.

Looking back on my first review of this series, I find if funny how much Jethro made me do a complete 180. As much as the cold-hearted bastards really do it for me, I'm loving his transformation. And there is so much we don't know yet!

Speaking of...there seems to be a "condition/disease" Jethro is inflicted with. I think there were some hints as to what this may be...but I'm not going to put any money on this. You never know where things will go.

We were also able to get more on some of Jethro's family members. I loved Jasmine, his younger sister. She is extremely smart, and you can tell how much she loves her brother by trying to protect and help him. I actually caught on to her secret pretty quickly, which surprised me, because I can be a little slow. :) His grandmother Bonnie...I am very intrigued by this lady. She must have some ingrained views on tradition with her family, because I find it so hard for her as a woman to sit back and watch the poor treatment of Nila. And then there is Daniel, the youngest Hawk sibling. Besides him being creepy and cruel, unlike all the other children, I have a feeling something is going to come out about him. I'm not sure exactly what this is, but I have a feeling it's something big.

This also had some of the hottest sex/love scenes. The tension is so thick. When they get together, it's always a huge bang (pun intended). The hot spring scene was seriously off the charts!

And the second debt...OMG! If that's only the second one, I'm scared to see what the rest of the debts entail! Wow! How sadistic, cruel, and utterly intense. I kept finding myself holding my breath! Whew!

This series is what I call my perfect read. I don't even mind the wait. I think Pepper Winters does such an awesome job of not only telling a great story, but doing it in such a way that it stays with you, and you can pick up right were you left off. I'm enjoying all the twists and the revelations. Even when a few questions are answered, more and more come up! The love story is truly one of my favorites ever told. Their bond is palpable and I hope the couple can survive all to come. I am thoroughly loving it all!

And with every book...that ending!!! Holy shit! So unexpected!

I am on pins and needles to see where this all goes. I'm not even going to try to figure things out because I just know the ride is going to be fantastic.

Highly recommend this. It's becoming one of my all time favorite series. I cannot give enough praise.

Pepper Winters has used this analogy (for different reasons of course) but the minute I read it, it resonated with me and my experience with her books ... so I'm pinching it (she does know lol). So humour me and close your eyes. Imagine your at a theme park, waiting in queue to go on the star attraction... the mother of all roller coasters. There's excitement dancing in your eyes yet there's a nervousness at what lies ahead. The butterflies are going crazy in your belly and the closer you get to your turn, the sweatier your palms become. You can hear the screams of those who are already on the ride and you can see the ashen faces of those who have just come off, but you've got balls of steel and you're not going to back down now. you've waited too long for this and come hell or high water, you're getting on that ride. You need to know what lies ahead... you need to experience it for yourself.

And so finally you're there... you're buckled into your seat and you wait. The smile on your face is ridiculous because this is what you've been waiting for... right? And then your hear the brakes go and your cart starts to slowly move forward. It's all good. It's ok. You're being eased into it gently. It's not so bad as the cart starts it's climb... and climb... and climb some more. Suddenly the fear of dread takes over... shit... what have you done? You can't see ahead... You don't know what's coming... and then everything stops. You're cart is balancing precariously on the edge but you can't see down... you daren't look and so you squeeze your eyes shut as tightly as possible... and wait... and wait... and.... OMFG.... suddenly your free falling into oblivion, your stomach has bottomed out, your heart has leapt from your chest and you have quite literally stopped breathing. You are scared out of your wits but there is also something quite exhilarating about the whole thing.... and then suddenly everything slows down... thank the lord... hallelujah... you have a reprieve... time to gather yourself and mull over what just happened... f******ck!!!! Wow... I never would have thought ..... phew.... but it's not over .... and as the cart starts to pick up speed, you quite literally crap yourself. You hold on for dear life, in the hope you make it out with your heart still in tact.... and then bam... out of the blue again, you are knocked off your comfy perch and thrown into what feels like hell.... you scream, you cry, there are moments you even laugh at the craziness of it all.... and then STOP.... it's over. You breathe heavily, you try to calm your heart rate. you try to balance your legs which feel like they've turned to jelly and you think back to everything that's just happened. That was fucking amazing.... let's do it again!!!

[image error] photo seconddebtteaser_zps8e30ad21.jpg"

This is what reading a Pepper Winters book does to you and holy sh*t balls, I've just been through it with "Second Debt." This book was devastatingly beautiful. I laughed (yup, Nila and Jethro had me in stitches... who'd have thought Mr mean and moody had a sense of humour)? But I also cried... big heart felt tears drowning my eyes making it difficult to read. So much happened in this book, so many revelations came to light, I met so many new characters and I saw the true colours of some of those I was already acquainted with. I saw huge changes in both Nila and Jethro... some for the good and others that left me fearful. These two were playing with fire and it was only a matter of time before the whole house came burning down.
"I won't ever ask anything from you." I flinched as if he'd slapped me.
"Why not?"
"Because I own you. Everything will be given, not requested."

It's difficult to write this review and sum up what I just read without spoiling it for you, but let's just say, we know this author likes to leave clues as to the direction the story might take (and of course this next instalment in Nila and Jethro's story was no exception). However there were a couple of things I struggled to work out which frustrated the hell out of me... yup, there were a couple of childish, stomping feet moments. It took twenty four whole hours for me to have a light bulb moment... the thing is... I'm hoping I'm right but that doesn't mean I am... lol. I could be barking up completely the wrong tree. If you're expecting all the answers, think again... if anything, as answers come, a whole host of new questions will arise. What I will say is, Mrs Winters decided to throw in quite the curve ball with "Second Debt" and I can't imagine anyone will see it coming. Pure genius move which has quite literally thrown the whole story up in the air.... where will all the pieces land that is the question and so I need book four like yesterday.

This was another ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ read for me... could it be anything less? Hell no!!!!

Would I ever rate Pepper Winters under 5 stars??? Yes! Have I? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will read anything Pepper writes and I have! Indebted Book 3 is FANTASTIC. I've said it before and Jethro has somehow managed to steal my heart from Q. (Sorry, but I know Tess is taking good care of Q's heart!)

Jethro on the other hand needs me! And, I'll be there for him!!

This series is among the BEST writing of Pepper Winters! She grabs me from the first page and holds me captive through the day and night until I read that last word!!

And LAST is so subjective....I want, I need, I must have the rest of this series!!

My advice. DO not pass Go, DO NOT wait until the entire series is available. These are LONG EPIC stories that continue to build and reveal more and more about the characters and families. Jump in. Read Indebted 1, 2, and 3...YOU will NOT be sorry!!!

Much to my dismay it's already over, read in just a couple of hours! Pepper Winters is the true master of mind fuckery! A gift and talent such as hers should be applauded, as she kept me on the edge my seat from start to finish. Even now I'm clamoring, craving, humbling begging for more while the voices in my head shouts its not fair, I've read this book too fast! Ahhhhh...fine, okay I'll try and be reasonable here and give you a proper review, but my advice buy the book, better yet get the series! Now onto the review..So Spoiler, Alert....Spoiler Alert.....spoiler Alert

THESE PEOPLE! OMFG! I am speechless right now. So wrapped up in the story, I can’t even believe I’m taking the time to write a review, so you’re not getting much. The only thing I can say is that there is a lull in the middle of this book, but don’t let your guard down, the end will wreck you!

I’d become enraptured by my capturer. My tormentor. My would be murderer.
I only had eyes for him. My heart only beat for him.

”I slept with you because I was weak and because I believed you were different. But you’re not different. You’ll toy with me, hurt me, and ultimately kill me. And then you’ll bury me with the rotting corpses of my slain family.”

He was supposed to give me strength by making me hate him. I wanted to rue him as much as I did the day I found my ancestors graves.
Hate would have kept me warm and alive.

"I forgive you."

I did have a bit of an issue by something that happened at the end, something that bordered on the ridiculous.. but ah well, who gives a shit, it’s fiction right? I can stretch the limits of my imagination whenever required. Still loved it.

Would I always suffer the rhapsody of his touch?

And this is all you get. On to book 4!

Let me endure, so I may pay the sins of my past. But let me survive, so I may put an end to those who hurt me.

neyse, kiss me kısmı için bile okunur.

The drama, the angst, the anticipation, the twist. This is the worl created by Pepper Winters. Once again I am blown away. I also become frustrated. I want to know what is happening in Jericho's past.

What makes him the tormentor? In this book it reveals a little then the other drama takes the story away from him. The suspense is abundance. And yet I still do not know much about Jericho.

Moving on to book 4 then.

second debt 3

Second Debt was one of those pull your heart out on the ground and let it bleed type of reads.

With everything moving at a roller coaster jet speed, Nia and Jethro find themselves dwindling more and more into dangerous territory between their two feuding houses and their unfolding forbidden romance.

Nia’s one of those admirable characters where you can’t help but root and cheer for; while, Jethro, on the other hand, is one of those villains turned anti-heroines who deep down strives to be the better man and person for Nia but knows he’s a long way from it. I just love his ever-growing transformation and Nia’s resiliency to bow down!!

Definitely one of my favorite series of 2014 going on 2015!! It’s dark, heart-pounding, suspenseful, gritty, and keeps you guessing with all of the complexity of it all!

I’m literally holding my breath with how things are going to unfold in bk4! That will be interesting, for sure! Such a savage, erotic, and unforgiving world that author Pepper Winters showmanships!!

Absolutely loved it!!

As the series continues, things are getting more intense and the punishments got worse. I love how Pepper Winters pull this through and wonder if she ever cringed on writing these disturbing scenes. Still, it's one addicting series and I get more curious what's next for Nila and Jethro.

Nila continues on fighting back the Hawks by breaking Jethro's walls. There is something about him than being loyal to his family. Jethro starts to get real whenever he is around with Nila. For the first time in his life, he found his sanctuary and he doesn't want to let go of her. He'll do everything to keep her alive with every pain she takes. However, they played a dangerous game when by falling in love with each other. To be honest, I'm scared for them. The Hawk family is absolutely ruthless and they can do any means of harm. Screw this twisted family.

I'm giving this 4 stars because the ending fell a little flat to me. So far, I don't have any predictions on how will this end. I'll just go with the flow and brace myself for more.
