Book & Author Details:
Neighbors with Benefits by Marissa Clarke
Published by: Entangled: Lovestruck
Publication date: June 30th 2015
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Synopsis:
A satisfying category romance from Entangled’s new Lovestruck imprint…
Love thy sexy jerk of a neighbor…
CEO Michael Anderson might be something of a “control freak.” Still, he’s not quite sure why his therapist thinks dogsitting will fix anything—especially since he and the canine share a kind of mutual loathing. And to make matters worse, a house sitter moves in next door disrupting his peace—and his dates—with the worst possible music at the worst possible time… every time.
Free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis has settled into the perfect gig—housesitting in NYC’s Upper West Side while working as an art therapist. Too bad she’s stuck living next door to a bossy control freak with a penchant for calling building security when she blasts music to drown out the noises coming through his bedroom wall.
Post-apocalyptic dinner rolls that nearly take her kitchen with them, a douchebag ex, and a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla attack Mia in one day, and her unlikely neighbor comes to the rescue. Like it was her fault. And now, somehow, they find themselves engaged? Both agree, this neighborly feud just got taken to a whole new level.

Patrick Thompson is all city, all the time. A young doctor, once full of passion, now disillusioned by the practice, he sets off across the country, intent on a small breather before a fresh start.

Ivy Lang loves the country way. So much so that she’s created a place where others can experience her ideas of the fundamentals for both mind and body. The life is perfect for her, carefully cultivated by her own hands.

He’s waiting for something to inspire him.

She finds inspiration all around her.

But when a chance meeting turns their worlds upside down, can they come together to create something beautiful?

CM Foss is a hopeless romantic with a love for the written word. When she was little, her mom would ration her books so she wouldn’t go through them too quickly. It didn’t matter, she would just re-read. She’s always been an avid equestrian, competing in the top levels of Three Day Eventing by age seventeen. CM now resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and kids where they own and operate their own equestrian business, as well as raising grass-fed, sustainable meats. She doesn’t have this thing people call “free time”, but she does spent a weird amount of time writing, reading, playing with her kids, milking goats, and drinking wine, while avoiding bananas at all costs. Other books by CM Foss include Shiver and Swoon.

Giveaway & Review: The Girl I Was Before

THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE by Ginger Scott is finally here! Check out the review and giveaway below!

THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE (Falling #3) NA Contemporary RomanceScheduled to release: June 23, 2015GoodreadsAmazonGoogle PlayBarnes and NobleKobo
BLURB:I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”

Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.

None of it matters.

I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.

I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.

Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny. He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.

Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.

But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.

Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.

Teri Lyn's thoughts:
Ginger Scott captivates readers once again with another New Adult story perfectly expressing the triumphs and tribulations of falling in love at this vulnerable time in our lives. TheGirl I Was Before hails as the third book in the Falling series. Myrecommendation would be to read the first two books first, if you don’t you’llbe spoiled to secondary characters and you’ll miss the magic of Ginger’sstorytelling in this series as Paige and Houston's story completes, for now, anawesome college NA romance series.

To say I had no idea what expect fromthis book would be a total understatement. Our heroine, Paige Owens, let’s just say she had to totally redeemherself with me. In the first two books,Paige can easily be seen as the mean girl, the anti-heroine. Her actions areselfish, immature, and completely hurtful to those closest to her. She’s a girlwho wants what she wants going after those things any way she deems fit.Starting, even thru the first half of this book, Paige tries to reconcile pastmistakes in her own mind but still being a bit selfish, in my opinion. However, what I love about Paige is her brutal honesty in all situations. She messed up,she owned it. She admits it and even though she keeps to herself about it she’sworking toward something better. Hersass, her attitude, her swagger – they are all who Paige is, and if you likeher you like all of her including the attitude. Because underneath it all,Paige Owens gives live to girls who are headstrong, sometimes a bit selfish, but also who have the biggest hearts.

Paige meets Houston Orr. Houston Orr. Icould fill six pages with the magnitude of love I feel for this man. He wasCOMPLETELY unexpected, new to the series and so perfect for Paige. He’s kind and gentle and wise beyond hisyears. His faith in his girl never waivers he loves her attitude because he sees someone so strong behind it. This is a GOOD boy. He’s not bad boy reallyGinger Scott reversed a common mold here by giving us a bad heroine and a goodhero. Houston Orr will make you swoon with the way he treats Paige, his family, himself.

The usual suspects are back in thisgiving a little something from all the characters we fell in love with in thefirst two books. We see glimpses of each of them during the course of Paige andHouston’s story. An interesting plot develops in this book, there’s twists Inever expected from the very beginning. Ms. Scott gives subtle hints but never revealing until a perfectlyopportune moment creating havoc in Paige and Houston’s relationship. Thehurdles they face and the sweet times they encounter with each other make aperfectly balanced New Adult read. I’m so happy and feel privileged to havebeen allowed the opportunity to fall in love with the Falling series. The Girl I Was Before provides a great read and a love storyperfect for NA lovers.

EXCERPT

"What do you think you’re doing?” I find her in my closet,
down on her knees and rummaging through a black duffel bag that just happens to
hold all my sex toys. Apparently she did see this when she cleaned up.

“Ah, here we go.” Her fingers close around a generously sized
flesh-colored vibrating dildo. “You won’t do the job? Well, I have a feeling
this baby will.” She waves it in the air like she’s found the damn golden
ticket. Then she rises to her feet and smiles sweetly at me.For the love of God, this woman does not fight fair. She
never has. “Where do you think you’re going with that?”“Probably my bed, then the shower.” A line creases her
forehead. “Do you have spare batteries for this thing? It might be a long
night.”“No way. Not happening. Give me the toy, Macey.” I reach out
a hand, my voice as stern as the set of my jaw, my fingers barely avoiding
crushing the crystal tumbler in my other hand.A slow smile uncurls on her mouth. “Why, Reece Jackson, are
you jealous?” She eyes the toy in her hand and then lets her gaze slip
seductively down to the crotch of my pants. If she really thinks that toy’s size has me feeling
insecure, she’s insane. Certifiably. “You really don’t remember, do you?” Now
I’m the one smiling. She’ll be in for a pleasant surprise later.“I remember everything. I remember how you always made me
keep my underwear on, and that I never actually saw you”—her gaze flicks
downward—”down there. I only felt you with my hand, and since I had nothing to
base it on, I assumed all guys were like that.”“Well, in that case, you’ll be sorely disappointed with this
toy.” I snatch the dildo from her hand and toss it back in the open bag.“What do you think you’re doing?” she asks, planting a hand
on her hip. “You left me hanging at the restaurant.”

“And you will stay like that until I say so.”

He calls himself the Gentleman Mentor.

Just reading his ad makes me feel more alive than I have in years. He promises to teach me the art of seduction … and show me the most sinfully erotic pleasures. He’s going to help me become the kind of confident, sexy woman men can’t ignore.Six lessons … with the most gorgeous man … who happens to be a Dom.The only problem … now that I’ve experienced his brand of delectable domination will anyone else ever compare?
She’s a client. That’s all. Or it should be.But with every lesson, she’s becoming more. The secrets I’m hiding behind the image of the Gentleman Mentor make telling her the truth—and having anything real—impossible. I’m training her for another man, and that fact guts me every time I think of it.I know she’s not mine … but part of me won’t accept that.Am I willing to risk it all to keep her?

THE GENTLEMAN MENTOR is a full-length standalone novel.

Light Me Up Synopsis:For Rachel Hennessy, it’s been an interesting six months. Boyfriend? Cheated on her. Job? She totally just got fired. Starting her own wedding planning business sounds exciting … in theory. In reality, it’s completely terrifying. And on top of all that, the freaking cherry right on top? She just had an ill-timed, alcohol-instigated one-night stand with her bff Casey’s brother, Tate. Yeah, that Tate. The one that she’s had a teensy, inconvenient crush on for years.

But nothing about it is ill-timed or inconvenient for Tate Steadman. Because he finally feels free. Free of the oppressive relationship he’d been in for the past six years. Free to pursue Rachel, because one alcohol-fueled night was not even close to enough for him. He just wished she saw it that way. Because she makes him want more than he ever knew he was capable of.

When their one night has unexpected consequences, Rachel has no clue how to trust that he’s not just trying to be ‘the good guy’ who wants to do ‘the right thing’. And even though the chemistry between them practically burns down an entire city block when they’re together, she doesn’t know how to let down the concrete wall she’s built up around herself.

The ‘mistake’ of one evening can change the trajectory of two lives, but maybe a mistake is all they really need to push them right into true love.

Light Me Up is a 90k word humorous contemporary romance with a moderate heat level, and is second in a series of standalones.

Exclusive Excerpt:

"Best get caught up, little girl. That shot isn't going to drink itself."

She turned towards him and arched one brow. "Little girl?"

"You're what? Six years younger than me and about a foot shorter. I'd say that's accurate."

Rachel crossed her legs, and the way that they had lights mounted underneath the bar top only served to highlight her smooth skin capped by dangerous looking heels. She picked up her second shot glass, clicked it against one of his empty ones, and tossed it back. She blew out a breath and he caught a whiff of the Southern Comfort.

"I get what you're trying to do, Tate. Be a peach and go work your mind tricks somewhere that's not by me."

"No tricks, I promise."

She scoffed.

"So, what kind of shot was that?" he asked when she didn't respond.

"It's called a Short Southern Screw. Seemed appropriate tonight." His confusion must have read on his face, because she rolled her eyes. "My boss ... well, former boss, Deidre, is quite the southern belle. And considering my impending unemployment, I most definitely got screwed. But I'd wager a guess that you already knew that, judging by your presence at this fine establishment that you would probably normally never step foot in."

Tate was surprised that she brought up her firing so easily. Letting her statement pass for the moment, he flagged down the bartender again, who'd moved down the length of the bar to try his luck with a pair of coeds that had parked themselves on some stools a ways down.

"And you accuse me of being judgmental. You don't think this is my kind of place?"

She turned towards him finally, her cheeks holding a slight flush from the back to back shots. He had to shift his eyes away from her face because of how good it looked on her. Your sister's best friend. Your sister's best friend. He chanted it over and over in his head, to absolutely no avail.

"This is so not your kind of place. Because people only come here for two reasons: to get wasted and try to sweat out everything they've imbibed on that dance floor or make conversation where the most substantial thing that gets said is 'Your place or mine?'"

Tate laughed, because she was absolutely right, and then handed the bartender his credit card, motioning for him to start a tab. He pushed a glass towards her, and picked up one of his own.

"Fair enough, I wouldn't normally come to a place like this. I like it though, it was a good choice." He looked around, and then landed back on where she watched him with a speculative look on her face. "What are we toasting to?"

She blinked a few times, her hazel eyes burning in the dark atmosphere. "To being pleasantly surprised."

They clicked glasses, and the only time she moved her eyes from his was to flick down to his mouth when he lowered his empty shot glass. And he felt that look like she'd dragged a lit match down his spine.

Karla Sorensen Bio:

11005138_727640424010827_33189197_n Karla Sorensen has been an avid reader her entire life, and not long after the purchase of her first e-reader, she realized that it would probably be cheaper to just write out her own happily-ever-after stories. It doesn’t take much to keep her happy … a book, a glass of moscato, and at least thirty minutes of complete silence every day. She still keeps her toes in the world of health care marketing, where she made her living pre-babies. Now she stays home, writing and mommy-ing full time (this translates to almost every day being a ‘pajama day’ at the Sorensen household…don’t judge). She lives in West Michigan with her husband, two exceptionally adorable sons and their German Shepherd, who is not nearly as well trained as the one in her first book.

Book Review: Spun

Kings of Chaos Book 1: Spun (Kings of Chaos #1)
by Shyla Colt

Born to a King of Chaos patch holder with a case of wanderlust and a self-centered mother, twenty-one-year-old Nevada Weber is used to taking care of herself. She's spent her life skating by on her wits and pure determination. When she lands in a situation, she can’t haggle her way out of, she’s forced to rely on another brother for help.

Club enforcer Gage “Wizard” Carmody has done his job too well over the years. Icy and numb on the inside, he walks around in a prison of his making. When the bright green-eyed girl he helped raise winds up unclaimed and in need of protection he steps in seeking redemption. In a life where destruction lurks around the corner, they discover something with the potential to bring healing and happiness.

But when you live in Chaos nothing goes as planned.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Spun generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

I was intrigued by Spun when I saw it on Netgalley and decided to request it. Unfortunately, it didn't totally work out for me. The plot, while I thought it quite interesting for the MC world, didn't really arc for me at all. It was a little flat in terms of conflict and angst without providing much else to make up for it. The characters of Wizard of Nevada were two which I felt I could really enjoy and there were a several occasions where their banter or dialogue had me loving them. But somehow it never peaked for me and during the inevitable conflict I lost my faith in Nevada's strength. I felt no real connection to either of these characters nor in their relationship. It felt too forced. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have read this book but I will not be continuing the series.
