About the Author

BethAuthorPicture-1 I am a wife, a mom, an author, and a lover of all things chocolate, well, anything sweet really. While stuffing chocolate in my face, I enjoy reading young adult and new adult novels furiously, and spending time with my husband and two adorable children who keep me on my peppermint pink painted toes. Those same children who inspire me to tell silly stories that cause hysterical giggles to tumble from their bellies.

I love to laugh and love to have a good cry, especially after reading a novel that stretches my soul, one that makes me feel, and lingers in the corner of my heart.

I’m a hopeless romantic and a happily ever after fanatic, and I love to write about LOVE.

I began writing when I was in middle school, penning anything from short stories, to poetry, and then later moved on to write children’s books. I have now endeavored into New Adult and Contemporary Romance novels and am loving every minute of it. My first novel, Love Love, was released in May, 2013.

ExcerptI washed up and had just enough time to tug on a clean tank and thong and then climbed back into bed. I heard his footsteps. Excitement and relief washed through me. A small part of me feared he might have changed his mind, but my insecurity vanished the second his chiseled face appeared from the darkness. His shirt hung open. He folded his arms across his chest and casually leaned against the wall, studying me like the MRI images he methodically memorized before each surgery.“You moved?” His lips parted into a half grin, and he shook his head disapprovingly.“You took too long.”“You put clothes on.”“You might need some new clothes.” I smiled.“You’re fucking beautiful.” Speechless.

About the AuthorsYep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!
We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us. It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.
So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations). When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.
Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one. So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Blog Tour: Empath

Empath (The Flawed Series, #1) by Becca Campbell: Supernatural empathy isn't a gift, it’s a curse. Anywhere she goes, Jade’s emotions are replaced by those of the people around her.

Jade grew up in a suburb of Colorado Springs, protected from other people by her parents. Now she faces college—and the world—with nothing to shield her from unwanted feelings.

When Cam, a classmate with a major crush on her unintentionally hijacks her emotions, Jade struggles to keep from being carried away in feelings of attraction. When Ethan, a psychopath with a thirst for fear, fixates on her, the emotional impact could be lethal.

Caught in a deadly trap, Jade must untangle the emotions and find a way to use her empathic curse to overcome this killer or be overcome by him.

During the Empath Blog Tour (September 16th - October 20th), the first book in the Flawed series will be on sale for a discounted price of $0.99. Grab it for cheap while you can!

Author Bio
Becca J. Campbell is the author of the New Adult Romantic Science Fiction novels  Foreign Identity  and  Gateway to Reality , New Adult Romantic Paranormal Thriller Empath (The Flawed Series #1), and   Sub-Normal , a series of Science Fiction short stories.
An avid lover of stories that tiptoe the line between fantasy and reality (even when they plunge off one side or the other), Becca looks for new angles on bridging the gap between the two. She holds a special place in her heart for any story that involves superpowers or time travel. Her passion is defying the limits of her own creativity. You can find her on her  Author Blog Facebook Twitter Goodreads ,  Pinterest , and  Amazon .

Lori's thoughts: Being a strong empath myself, I was anxious to get my hands on this ARC. Empath is a paranormal thriller. I found the book easy to read and a change of pace from what I normally read. People are either born with special abilities or acquire them as a result of accidents. What someone may see as a gift, another may see as a curse. The ability to sense or "feel" something outside of the normal senses is something science has been trying to prove (or disprove) forever. All in all, I found Empath an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. This was a refreshing change of pace for me, and I recommend it for those looking for a little something different, for a change of pace.

Book Review: Promise Me Light

PROMISE ME LIGHT by Paige Weaver: The epic conclusion of New York Times bestselling book “Promise Me Darkness”

“I’m darkness, Maddie. Stay away from men like me. You’ll only get hurt.”

At one time my life was simple. Easy. But that was before the war. Now I was no longer an average college student. I was a survivor. A woman living in a ravaged world. My future was not bright and my life was far from perfect. The war had taken so much from me… but it wasn’t finished yet. It wanted more.

It wanted my heart. My soul. The one person I couldn’t live without.

It wanted Ryder Delaney. My best friend. The bad boy. The one person who could fight like no other and love me like no one else. I watched him walk away one hot summer day and I prayed he would return. I needed him like I needed air to breathe and water to drink. Without him I was lost. A light without her darkness.

Until he returns, I’ll wait for him. And I believe he will return because love is powerful…

And so is the light calling him home.
Lori's thoughts: I feel bad for not getting this reviewed during the initial posting date of the tour. Please let me assure you that it had nothing to do with the way I felt about the book. I know you are all aware of how life sometimes gets in the way of stuff. I was unable to finish reading the book until this morning, and I found myself bawling my eyes out while reading it. I loved Promise me Darkness, but this book was so much more for me. I loved the flashbacks to when Maddie and Ryder were younger. It helped explain their closeness. Sometimes, Ryder didn't deserve Maddie and I wondered how she kept from punching him in the face (or lower), time after time. I highly recommend this book! The passion between Maddie and Ryder was undeniable and very well written. I honestly could see more books in this series. Not just Ryder and Maddie, but the other characters have stories to tell, as well. Five emotionally felt, resounding hearts!

Spotlight Saturday: Evan Reeves

Here are 10 random facts about Evan Reeves:

1. Contrary to popular belief, I'm actually a lady.
2. I stand at roughly 4'10”. In fact, I have a younger sister who is taller than me...she's 9.
3. Speaking of siblings, I'm the oldest of ten kids. I'm also the favorite, and the coolest. Success.
4. I studied Secondary Education (English) at a staunch, Pentecostal university. I should add that I'm not all that religious. As I'm sure you can imagine, those were a very special four years of my life.
5. My mom used to make me attend every horrific sport-oriented summer camp you could think of, because she didn't like us sitting around and watching television during summer vacations. As an uncoordinated introvert, this was a nightmare. I'm still not over it.
6. My two favorite things in this world: Coffee (aka. Nectar of the Gods), and Claudio Sanchez's hair. Seriously, though. I drink coffee like it's water.
7. One time, in High School, I was sent to the front office for throwing a banana at an ex-math teacher's classroom door. Because life just isn't fair sometimes.
8. True Story: I was once grounded for yelling, verbatim: “That's bogus.” Although, I never actually sustained a grounding. Favorite Perks.
9. One of my favorite pastimes, when I'm not watching a favorite show (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) or film (V for Vendetta) is going on Goodreads and laughing at the reviews for 50 Shades of Grey/Darker/Freed. I also thoroughly enjoy anything involving my pretend-husband, Keanu Reeves.
10. If I like you, and you bug me enough, I'll find a way to wedge you into one of my stories. If I don't like you, and you bug me enough, I'll likely find a way as well. But you probably won't like your character.

And 10 random facts about If I Stay

1. I take bits and pieces of true-to-life characteristics from friends/acquaintance and stick them in the characters.
2. I enjoy incorporating aspects of contemporary culture/Pop Culture into my work. Music and film, for example.
3. The leading lady, Gemma, was originally inspired by an early Isla Fisher.
4. The leading lad, Ben, was inspired by a superhotohmygod real-life English professor that I was lucky to learn from. He was a lot smarter than I will ever be. And a lot hotter than I could ever possibly portray.
5. Really, though. This guy was so ridiculously good-looking that the girls would line up outside of his classroom just to wait and watch him walk down the hallway. It was awesome. I may or may not have been one of those girls.
6. No, we never had an sort of inappropriate relationship (insert sigh). Strictly student/teacher.
7. I went ahead and created a soundtrack for the novel. Yep, I went there. I'm one of those guys.
8. Brandon, Gemma's best friend, is based off of a good friend of mine. I promised that I'd include him in my next work (years before If I Stay was ever even thought of). I don't break my promises.
9. The book is meant to exist as a stand-alone. I would only consider writing companion novels if enough people asked me to do so. Note to readers: if you want something, ask me. I listen.
10. If I Stay isn't meant to necessarily be a light, silly, romantic read. Yes, there's light moments. Yes, it's quite romantic. And yes, I like to think that I succeeded in being comical. However, I purposed to write something with a good smear of depth to it. All in all? I just hope you enjoy it.

RIDE by J.C. Emery: Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.

Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the life her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can't take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.

Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn't have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn't allowed on the back of his bike or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn't dare cross.

As a child, JC was fascinated by things that went bump in the night. As they say, some things never change. Now, as an adult, she divides her time between the sexy law men, mythical creatures, and kick-ass heroines that live inside her head and pursuing her bachelor's degree in English. JC is a San Francisco Bay Area native, but has also called both Texas and Louisiana home. These days she rocks her flip flops year round in Northern California and can't imagine a climate more beautiful.

JC writes adult, new adult, and young adult fiction. She dabbles in many different genres including science fiction, horror, chick lit, and murder mysteries, yet she is most enthralled by supernatural stories-- and everything has at least a splash of romance.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
“Princess wants to have fun,” he says, leading me toward the kitchen, and past Ryan and that stupid bitch who still hasn’t let go of his neck.
With every step that brings me closer to Ryan, my heart rate speeds up little by little. Brushing past them, a calloused finger reaches out, wrapping itself around my pinky. His touch sends waves of heat and bolts of anger through my entire body. I don’t want him touching me, but my body craves it. The more distance I put between us the farther our arms must stretch to keep the contact.
And we do for as long as possible.
A quick look back and I find Ryan’s arm reaching out, his index finger slipping from its grip on my pinky. We lose contact and suddenly I’m not nearly drunk enough for this shit. Turning my attention toward the kitchen, I bring the bottle of whiskey to my lips intent on making everything so blurry I won’t be able to remember what Ryan’s touch feels like.
