I’m going to have a baby,” Ivy declares as she stops directly in front of me. Well, her belly stopped directly in front of me, the rest of her soon follows.

Yes, indeed, my wife is definitely going to have a baby. Soon.

I’m getting ready—staring at the mirror as I mess with my tie, making sure it’s perfect—when she approaches me. I shoot her a grin, feeling good, feeling on top of my game. Life couldn’t get any better, you know? We’re celebrating today and with good reason.

“I know, sexy mama.” I turn away from the mirror and wink at her. “Trust me, I haven’t forgotten that I’m the one who knocked you up.”

She stares at me, no reaction to my wink or my words. She usually slaps my ass and kisses me. Says something sarcastic at the very least. But I’m getting nothing. And it’s kind of disconcerting. “Archer. I’m dead serious. I’m going to have the baby.”

Then a gorgeous man walks into her diner. Allie forces herself to treat him like any other customer, but when he leaves his wallet behind, Allie finds herself running down the street to catch him. Allie dreams of the gorgeous stranger re-entering her life, but, at 22 and still a virgin, Allie wonders if she should just quit dreaming.

The author does a fantastic job of intertwining Allie’s humdrum life with her brother’s. When Joel tells Allie that he needs a lot of money in very little time, she feels the maternal responsibility to help him. But twenty-five thousand dollars in a week? Is that even possible?

Allie furiously scans the internet for lucrative possibilities, but every one is a scam. Then she finds something. Is it for real? Or is it a hoax? Allie has to test her better judgment to help her only family member.

Undeniable is an excellent opening to a series. The story enchants the reader, keeping her turning the pages to follow Allie’s love for her brother and desire to move on with her life. The novel ends on a fantastic cliffhanger that will undoubtedly keep readers breathlessly waiting for more.

I give this novel five stars. It’s well written with great characters and fantastic plot development.





Julie's Thoughts: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Undeniable is the first NA book by Ashley Simone. It is a novella (~20,000 words) and the first book of a trilogy. The book ends with a cliffhanger.

This story was working so well for me. Hot, sexy guy: check; steamy scenes: check; mystery: check.OK, you have my attention. Then….the end. WHAT? But, I had questions! I wanted more. Much, much more. I have to admit, I was really frustrated and annoyed when I got to the end of this book. However, the more I think about it, maybe Ms. Simone has the right idea. We’ve all read the trilogies that,honestly, should have been two books at the most. Because authors, many times, offer the first book for free, they stretch the story unnecessarily after they hook us readers. Maybe a short, very intriguing novella for free, followed by two solid, complete books is a better marketing strategy. So far, Ms. Simone’s story is really intriguing. I have so many questions. Was there enough for readers to connect with the characters and make the additional purchases? I’d say yes, depending on how she prices the other two books in the series, if they are books instead of novellas and the amount of time between the releases.

I would recommend this novella for readers who enjoy NA with a bit of mystery on the side. However, this is only for those readers who don’t mind cliffhangers and an unknown timeframe for the releases of the other two books in the series.

Amara always wondered when the day would come, but Philip never gave anything away. He just watched.

Philip was dressed in a tuxedo, standing beside a woman in a red dress. They were looking at Amara, scrutinizing her as they exchanged words. Philip had a glass cup in his hand, which he raised as if to salute her.

Amara felt her knees giving out beneath her.

“Sweetheart, you’re scaring me,” Colin said. He stopped walking and faced her, holding both of her arms. Amara was still looking in Philip’s direction, and Colin’s eyes followed. He gave Philip a small wave, he’d met him a couple of times in parties and saw him around the neighborhood often. “Is everything all right?” Colin asked, his voice full of concern. Amara nodded, looking into Philip’s icy blue eyes. “Yeah, everything’s fine,” she whispered. “Just fine.”

ExcerptDeciding that my overactive hormones were under control, I turned back toward the rest of the room but gasped as soon as I did. Stefan stood directly behind me, eyes looked up from hooded lids. The slight tension from before was almost out of control as he closed the distance between us. With each foot in my direction, I responded with a step backwards, until finally the wall stopped me. His tongue slid out over his lips making them glisten in an exceptionally tantalizing way.

Not that I noticed of course, but someone might.

“Is something wrong, Greyson Rose?” My name rolled off his tongue as he annunciated every syllable.

“No, wh…” Deep Breath. “Why do you ask?”

He took one more step closer. “You suddenly got very…” His face leaned down toward my chest, as he listened to the rapid beat against my ribs. “Jumpy.”

The scent that covered every square inch of him took my senses hostage. Shivers raced up and down my spine and I tried to clear the intoxicating haze from my awareness.

“I’m not.” I choked out.

A mischievous grin touched his eyes and as much as I wanted to hate him for getting some sick pleasure out of what he was doing—I couldn’t. The urge to shove him back and pull him closer raged a war deep in my psyche. Stefan slowly lifted his arms and pinned the wall on either side of my shoulders. His feet stayed firmly planted but he lowered his upper body within an inch of mine.

“So, last night you got me to promise I would shut down my work, at a time much earlier than I anticipated leaving. Do you remember?”

“Yes,” I stuttered out.

Stefan nodded, keeping his intense gaze trained on me. “Now I have something I want you to do for me.”

My heart leapt into my throat and a sudden rush of heat swirled low in my belly. The heaves of my chest brushed faintly against his and each touch made my breath catch.

“Wh…what’s that?” The shake of my voice became unbearable as I struggled to remain vigilant.

“I just want you to answer one simple question for me.” His right hand left the wall, he held up one finger an inch from my nose.

“Okay?”

“You need to answer me with complete and absolute honesty. I’ll know when you’re lying to me, Greyson Rose. Will you promise to answer truthfully?”

At this point I couldn’t filter my answers even if it was the difference between life and death. My tongue licked out onto my incredibly dry lips. For the first time Stefan’s eyes left mine as they focused onto my mouth. I forced down a rising groan.

“I promise.”

My For You series were the first novels I published but I had to stop everything to write Stefan and Grey’s story in, A Broken Forever. Jake. It nagged at her that she had still not had a word from him. She walked into the kitchen to find some crackers to calm her now upset stomach. What the hell was going on? “Hey, Mom, I have a surprise for you,” her voice sang.

“Hold on Clarissa, I’m on the phone. I haven’t heard from Jake all day,” she muttered more to herself than for Clarissa’s benefit. Jake’s voicemail picked up, and Eve shifted her weight as she heard the beep. “Jake, where the hell are you?”

“I’m right here, beautiful,” came the deep voice behind her.

Eve turned around, and her eyes met the most beautiful blue eyes that she had ever seen - the ones that held the deepest love - all for her.

“Jake,” she exhaled, and came towards him. Her arms went around his neck, and she launched herself at him. He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her tightly against his body. She pressed her lips against his, tilting her head to the side, and slipping her tongue into his mouth. She was desperate for him, needed to feel him, make sure he was truly there.

“Geez, you two, get a room,” Clarissa’s voice giggled behind them. Eve placed her forehead against Jake’s, eyes closed, and breathed him in. All the worry, the fears - the demons - all of them melted away with the stroke of his hands across her back.

He exhaled, and pulled Eve tighter against his body, whispering in her ear, “Now everything feels right again.”





Author Bio
Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, A.L. Parks has spent the last 25 years moving all over the United States. Married to the Navy - well a man in the Navy - Parks has lived in various places throughout the United States. Now she resides in the Washington D.C area, and loves every minute. She has four children, and one spoiled German Shepard.

2013 marked her debut in publishing. Her first novel, Strangers, released on her 45th birthday. She was amazed at how many people fell in love with a story about two people dealing with grief, and finding love again. Abby and Bryce were the perfect couple to introduce Parks as an up-and-coming author.

Her second novel, The Return, released in December 2013. A wonderful Christmas romance, it is the first book in the Return To Me series. Book two, Return To Newport, is set to release on April 29, 2014.

Now, meet the real me. I’m a wife, mother, and full-time Human Resource Specialist.
