Book 23 sold!

Heard from my lovely editor yesterday.

I nailed the last book!

Book 23 is sold! Yay!

Always a relief when a book goes through. Title is DESERTED ISLAND, DREAMY EX! for the new Harlequin Romance Rom Com miniseries, 'The Fun Factor.'

Release date: September in the UK and USA.

Remember this one features ex-lovers stranded on a desert island for a reality TV show/documentary?

Well, the chapter headings have 'Stranded' survival tips, and both Jared and Kristi blog and Twitter regularly, which made my ed...

Getting wild

This is the guy who's supposed to be inspiring my current hero, Rhys, in Getting Wild with the Boss.

While the story is now flowing nicely, I'm still not getting the same feel for Rhys as I had in his brother's book, Overtime in the Boss's Bed, out mid this year.

This story seems very heroine driven, whereas Rhys was previously taking over the other story.

Hmm...maybe if I use this pic while I'm writing rather than a more sedate version, things might pep up?

G'day mate!

Aussies are a patriotic bunch.

We all know our national anthem, we love Vegemite and we're happiest at a laid-back barbie (that's barbecue in Aussie-speak!)

I had a lovely Australia Day yesterday: brunch at a cafe with my family, play in the park, loads of constructive play at home, a bit of plotting, reading, BBQ dinner and 10 pages written last night. Great combination of a relaxing yet productive day.

Celebrating Australia Day got me thinking...how do people overseas see us?

If you could sa...

Blatant grovelling

As a teenager, I used to keep a daily diary so when I first started blogging, the habit carried over.

I love interacting with all of you. It's fun!

Every morning, I copy and paste this blog to my blog at eharlequin. And guess what?

I'm up for an award over there! "AUTHOR'S BLOG YOU JUST CANNOT PASS OVER".

Competition is stiff: Holly Jacob, Liz Fielding, Donna Alward and Christine Rimmer.

So if you'd like to vote, pop over here

Visuals

Are you a visual writer?
Do pictures inspire words for you?
Usually, I'm not a visual writer. My books are dialogue driven and when I write them, that's what pops into my head, my characters talking in a scene, not how they look or the scenery surrounding them. Yet earlier this week, when the hero in my current WIP was giving me grief, I had to get a better hold on his motivation, and learn why his dream house sent him running for the hills.
To do this, I needed to see the house.
I couldn't...

Pictures helping paint words

You know how my hero Rhys is giving me grief as I write Getting Wild with the Boss? Well, yesterday, I knew how to solve one of his problems. He didn't want to return to Alaska partially because of the house he'd built there (long story, you'll just have to read about it!) but I couldn't visualise the house. Thanks to Google, now I can. Jade's about to get the grand tour. Lucky girl. (You should see the bedroom!) While Rhys is about to confront a few demons. Ah...the plot thickens...

The wayward hero

Remember how Rhys Cartwright took over his brother's story in OVERTIME IN THE BOSS'S BED while I was writing it?
To the point my editor said tone him down, he was far too sexy?

Well, interesting things afoot in current WIP.
Rhys isn't taking over half as much as I expected (or want) and Jade seems to be hogging most of the scenes in her POV.

When he does speak, he's very confident and teasing and sexy, but he was somehow better in the last book.

Hmm...maybe I toned him down too much in the last bo...

Want to win a mentor?

If you're a writer, here's a fabulous chance to win a mentor for a year.

The lovely Donna Alward , a fellow Harlequin Romance author, is holding a pitch contest over at eharlequin where you can win her as your mentor for a year!
How good is that?

Pop over here for details.
