Life Tools: The 6 Stages to a Present Moment Experience

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95iRA...

Hello, Spiritual Warrior!

Developing and maintaining a meditation practice doesn’t have to be a struggle!

Let’s look at the basics – the six stages to create a present moment experience.

Settling – the first stage is to settle in. Remember one of my mantras – Comfort is Queen! You don’t need all the bells and whistles, you just need to get comfortable.Witnessing – once we settle in, we can begin to witness everything that is showing up in our awareness. Be curious and watch all that arrives!Drifting – as humans, we have 60-80,000 thoughts per day – and they don’t stop just because we are meditating! It’s normal that we drift in meditation – to sounds, thoughts, physical sensations; these are the three obvious things we drift away to. Since a meditation practice is cultivating our ability to WITNESS, we can use this drifting process as a tool to simply drift back and forth.Judging – here is where we get stuck! Once we witness ourselves drifting to and fro, we begin to tell stories to ourselves about our experience. We say to ourselves “I’m not doing it right, I don’t have time, this is stressful,” etc. Once we get stuck in judgment, then we have stopped having a present-moment, meditative experience.Surrendering – this is when we finally decide to let it all go, and settle back in. If you don’t like the word surrender, you can think of it as Acceptance, or Allowing. However we name it, it is an act of releasing control, so that we can settle into the final stage of a present moment experience:Acceptance. Allow.Stillness. Simply BE-ing. No DO-ing.

The first step in getting still is to know that these are the things that unfold in our meditation practice – which helps us to understand that it’s normal. Remember that you can’t do this wrong!

Thank you for joining me today – keep meditating, and I’ll be seeing you “in the gap”.

Namaste,

davidji

Breathing in Abundance: 18-Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior,

Today, let’s turn our attention to all of the things that are currently limiting us.

It’s time for a guided meditation to awaken our Abundance Consciousness.

Remember that all of our limitations are self-created and self-directed, and the best part is that we get to choose to make a shift with any self-imposed limiting beliefs we are currently working with.

Allowing that shift to happen will impact your life in an infinite number of ways – physical, emotional, material, and so many more.

When we make a shift and move our energy to the possibilities that are always surrounding us – into abundance consciousness – the possibilities continue to blossom and bloom.

When we don’t see all that life offers, it narrows our view, and holds us in the space of limiting, fear-based beliefs.

But why is it that we sometimes feel a lack, when we know deep down that we live in a space of infinite possibilities?

This question is a big one.

The antidote to limited thinking is to find gratitude and count all of the blessings that we do have, versus spending our attention and energy where we believe we have lack.

To start this meditation, I’ll have you think of three things you are grateful for.

Let’s take some time to reconnect to the flowing, abundant, unlimited aspects of ourselves.

This is a practice of tonglen – energy exchange:

Breathe in gratitude, exhale constriction.
Breathe in power, exhale fear.
Breathe in this present moment, and let go of the past.
Breathe in silence, and exhale chatter.
Breathe in abundance, and release constriction.

In this meditation, we will use the mantra Sat Chit Ananda – Truth, Knowingness, Bliss.

Feather your nest and settle in, making space for an abundant world to show itself to you!

Sending love,

– davidji

What are The Five Realms of Existence?

The tool that I have found valuable during times of extreme activity in order to slow the relentless swirl is looking at life through The Five Realms of Existence.

I’ve dedicated an entire chapter to them in my book: destressifying. The Five Realms are a powerful tool to use as we look at our lives through our various forms of existence:

The Physical RealmThe Emotional RealmThe Material RealmThe Relationship RealmThe Spiritual Realm

During times when the overwhelm is settling in from having too many things on our plate, look at your life through the lens of The 5 Realms.

That will keep you moving forward on your journey while keeping everything in perspective, and bringing greater clarity into the moment.

During times when the overwhelm is settling in from having too many things on our plate, look at your life through the lens of The 5 Realms.

That will keep you moving forward on your journey while keeping everything in perspective, and bringing greater clarity into the moment.

Here’s an example:
Your to-do list is bursting at the seams.

You’ve got expectations of what needs to get done, several obligations that you have committed yourself to, a brand new set of circumstances and the basic day-to-day stuff still needs to get done.

So slow it all down – start your morning with a meditation to bring some stillness and silence into the trajectory of your day.

Then walk yourself through The 5 Realms and spend just five minutes on each realm:

Start with your Physical Realm
Your body, what comes in and what goes out, what strengthens it and what weakens it. Pick one action to definitely do – and one thing to let go of just for today…

Don’t torture yourself – bring one thing into your physiology that will nourish and release one that’s not nourishing.

Then think about your Emotional Realm
Place your attention on your levels of empathy, compassion, hot buttons, trigger points, assumptions, and conditioned responses.

Commit to one emotional behavior that is serving you and keep it in your awareness throughout the day.

Create a mantra that you can keep flowing throughout the day such as “patience… patience… patience”.

And every time you feel you’re about to respond in a way that might not serve you, take a deep breath in and as you exhale repeat the mantra.

Then drift your attention to your Material Realm
Make one decision today regarding how you will view the material abundance in the world.

Seeing yourself as a never-ending conduit will flow through how you treat your money, finances, your debt, status, your position, possessions, dharma, your saving, hoarding or your giving.

Allow abundance consciousness and wealth circulation to transform any feelings of poverty consciousness or less-than thinking.

Throughout the day, remind yourself of that shift.

Use the mantra aham brahmasmi (I am the Universe), and allow it to run in the background of all your thought processes.

Then spend 5 minutes on the Relationship Realm
Reflect on one relationship you have.

With yourself, your core family, friends, extended relationships, those with whom you have a grievance – and leading with love, take a step to either birth, repair, shift, or end it.

Throughout the process, breathe in deeply as you allow these four virtues to be cultivated within you:

ForgivenessImpeccability of your wordYour thoughtsYour deeds

Spend your last five minutes on the Spiritual Realm
Your connection to your soul and to the divine spirit.

Your daily practice of prayer, meditation, and devotion to the divine; contemplate your dharma or noble purpose in this life.

Breathe in and plant a seed of one-ness in your heart and let the universe kiss your soul.

Reflect on each realm and the intention or commitment you made to yourself.

If you really want to ground them in the tangible world, write them down and place them someplace where you will regularly see the document.

But the key is to live them – live your intentions…lean into them.

As Krishna says to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, “Yogastha kuru karmani” – establish yourself in the present moment, then perform action.

The swirl will slow.

Clarity will unfold.

Your choices will become more evident.

Your decisions will start to truly nourish you and those in your world.

With gentle repetition, this can become a daily practice.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I wish you peace and love in every one of the Five Realms!

Sufi Poet Hafiz: “Why Are We Here?”

The great 14th century Sufi poet Hafiz reminds us that the meaning of life boils down to just two things:

To love moreTo be happy

In this clip, davidji asks us to consider how we can love more, which increases our happiness.

When we are happier, we naturally want to love more, and the cycle begins again.

How can you love more today?

Begin by taking some time to get still and tune in to the whispers of your heart.

I’m so glad that you are here, in this Sweetspot Community.

Sending you love – and happiness!

Unplug in Nature: 20-Minute Guided Meditation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZOMu...

Hello, Spiritual Warrior,

Today we are going to let go of that which no longer serves us.

Let’s take a walk in the woods 🌲🌲🌲

This guided meditation is a little different than most of the meditations you are used to me sharing.

Today – although we will be sitting still with our eyes closed, we will also be stepping forward into the beautiful natural world, as we walk together in the forest.

Remember, comfort is queen, so before we begin, make sure to feather your nest and make a safe and gentle space for you to simply receive this meditation, where we unplug in nature.

Our senses are heightened as we listen to the sounds of nature – the bird singing, the wind flowing through the leaves of tall trees, a babbling brook, the sound of our footsteps on pine needles below.

We smell the earth, we see the blue sky.

We allow the water to flow over the parts of our bodies and minds that need a little more softness and fluidity.

We feel the warmth of the sun on our skin.

Even in the depths of our meditation practice, we can feel these things and allow ourselves to surrender into the vitality of the natural world enveloping us.

Aham brahmasmi, baby – at this moment YOU ARE the universe.

Listen in, and let’s take this path into nature together.

Sending love.

Life Tools: How to Trust the Universe

Spiritual Warrior,

Allowing the universe to work with us as we walk the path of our lives can only happen when we embrace the sacred power of TRUST.

We must trust that this moment is perfect, because every moment is perfect, even those moments that happened that we didn’t like.

It all brought us to the here and now, which is always perfect.

In the ancient text The Bhagavad Gita, we learn about the concept of Yogastha Kuru Karmani, which means to “establish yourself in the present moment, and then perform action.”

In this sacred, precious present moment, everything is perfect.

The sacred, precious present moment is an unconditioned space, which allows us to be grounded in the here and now before taking a step into the next direction.

When we move forward from that grounded space, we have more trust in our direction, and our stead.

We can loosen our grip, and receive the grace of the universe.

Let go, allow, and merge with everything around us in an unconditioned way.

We then move out into the world with more love and patience, deeper listening, more open-heartedness.

We move from tolerance to acceptance.

And this is how we flow trust in the universe out into the world, and become the change that we are seeking.

Never forget that the universe is always working in your favor.

I hope you enjoy this week’s Life Tools video lesson below.

Aham Brahmasmi, Baby!

Taking Your Life To The Next Level: 17-Minute Guided Meditation

Happy New Year Spiritual Warrior!

As we walk heart-first into 2025, let’s pause for a moment and meditate together.

Let’s make a dedication to ourselves, that our journey into the new year is a peaceful and powerful one.

The New Years is the perfect time to work on elevating our lives and intentionally move towards our next highest vibration.

So for this guided meditation, I invite you to feather your nest and settle in, as we begin to reflect on the perfection that exists in our lives.

Every moment that led you to this moment is perfect.

Even if you don’t like some of the things that have happened in the past, they were the building blocks of the foundation that exists right here and now in your life.

You are here – in this sacred, precious present moment – because of everything that has happened in the past.

That alone is worthy of a celebration!

We always have a choice over how we view our world and our circumstances.

We may not have a choice over what those circumstances are, but we do have a choice over our response to them.

And this is where we can harness our greatest power – the power to choose.

In this sacred, precious present moment – we have a choice about what comes next.

Lao Tzu said when I let go of who I am, I become who I might be.

So here we are, in this sacred precious present moment.

Allow the universe into your heart – feel it flowing in, and feel it giving you permission to release that which no longer serves.

You are pure potential – and you can create anew at any given moment.

For this meditation, we will use the ancient mantra om namah shivaya.

This is the mantra of merging – the past dissipating into the ether, and the new being born right now.

When the past and the future fall away, we dissolve into the sacred presence of the present moment.

Let’s go there together now.

Sending love,

davidji

Life Tools: Do You Know How Beautiful You Are?

Dear Spiritual Warrior, This poem is one of my favorites, and I wanted to share its beauty with you today. Do you know how beautiful you are?I think not, my dear. For as you talk of God,
I see great parades with wildly colorful bands
streaming from your mind and heart,
carrying wonderful and secret messages
to every corner of this world.
I see saints bowing in the mountains
hundreds of miles away
to the wonder of sounds
that break into light
from your most common words.
Speak to me of your mother,
your cousins and your friends.
Tell me of the squirrels and birds you know.
Awaken your legion of nightingales —
let them soar wild and free in the sky
and begin to sing of God.
Let’s all begin to sing to God!
Do you know how beautiful you are? Never forget the beauty that rests within YOU. Sending you love, from my heart to yours– davidji

Awakening Your Spirit Guide: 27- Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, Let’s dive deep with this meditation. It’s the perfect time of year to both reflect and look ahead…so let’s do that through the lens of inviting our spirit guide to join us in this journey of our life. Make sure to feather your nest and settle in for a beautiful guided meditative journey. I’ll invite you to find a trait, or a universal characteristic within you that you’d like to be able to call on. Something that is already there, yet sitting dormant within you.  For example, maybe you could use some more: Strength InsightComfortAbundance Power Surrender  Get still and allow your trait or characteristic to reveal itself to you. And know that there is a being out there who specializes in what you need to be revealed. It’s already within you.  So let’s go on a journey to find your spirit guide. We’ll be visualizing ourselves getting onto a boat and gliding out onto a lake for a journey of the soul – this will be a magical journey where we end up flying high above everything and then landing on a mountain top, as we get closer to connecting with our spirit guide. This is a healing guided practice that will allow you to know that you are a divine being, held in the palm of a universe of love. Feather your nest, and settle in for a beautiful meditative journey. The mantra we will use is the name that you gave to your spirit guide on this meditation of discovery. No matter where you are in the world, I’m honored to be able to join you in the gap. Allow the peaceful energy of this season to envelop you and remind you of the beauty that resides in being alive, here and now. With love from davidji

Life Tools- 5 Ways to Remove Obstacles and Release Suffering

Hello, Spiritual Warrior! I’m so glad that you are here. Today we are going to discuss the five ways that we create suffering – these are known as the Kleshas, or five obstacles / five poisons. And by knowing what causes suffering, we have the key to unlock the thoughts and behavior patterns that create the suffering in the first place! Let’s start with the first Klesha – The Ego. The ego exists because we have separated from our true, divine essence – the spirit within that is eternal. When we remember that separation is an illusion, we can get a sense of the bigger picture of life and loosen the reins on our egoic image. I love to use the mantra Aham Brahmasmi – I’m One With the Universe – to remind myself of my divinity. Next up we have Confusing Permanence and Impermanence. If we can remember that spirit is the only thing that is truly permanent in this world, it frees us to remember that nothing ever truly dies. Einstein’s quote that “energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed” is a wonderful reminder that there is an evolution to everything seen and experienced here on earth, and that there is an eternal backdrop behind it all. I like to use the mantra Ayam Atma Brahman – which means my soul and the universal spirit are the same thing. The next two obstacles work hand-in-hand with one another – Attachment and Aversion. When we get attached to things, we get scared about losing them. And yet we must remember that change is the only constant in life. And the opposite side of this is aversion, which is when we deny the things we don’t want. Yet if we allow ourselves to lean into the things that cause us discomfort or that create fear for us, it loosens its grip and ends up having less power over us.  And the final cause of our suffering? Fear of Death. Everything distills down to this – I give some good examples of this in the video. And finally, I’d like to remind you to look at the good in all things – so I invite you to bring to mind FIVE THINGS that you are GRATEFUL for RIGHT NOW. Life is so wonderful when we choose to look at the gifts that it brings us versus focusing on our suffering. I wish you peace, joy and love today and always. -davidji
