Source Life Tools Brahmavihara Karuna

Hello Spiritual Warrior!

This week we continue our journey into a four-part series on The Brahmaviharas, aka the Four Virtues. They are Metta (unconditional loving kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (empathetic joy), and Upekka (equanimity). When we awaken these four virtues, or “boundless abodes” in our life, we live with greater grace and ease. We live in more alignment, and with a deeper connection to source.

The second of the four virtues is Karuna (compassion).

Living a life filled with compassion is a beautiful way to be a kind and generous person. When we can look at others through a compassionate lens, everything changes. We live with a more open heart, we feel a deeper sense that on this planet we are living in community and looking out for each other, and we see that nobody is above us or below us – we are all equal.

There are various depths to this topic of compassion, however. The first level of compassion is sympathy – feeling sorry for someone else. Then we develop this further into empathy – where we feel others pain, and are able to put ourselves in their shoes. Moving further up on the compassion ladder, we start rooting for someone’s suffering to end, and then finally we may find ourselves being willing to bear the burden of someone else’s suffering.

However, none of this evolution can take place unless we are first and foremost being compassionate with ourselves – giving ourselves the gifts of:

Self-kindnessSelf-compassionSelf-forgivenessSelf-love

Self-care allows yourself to nourish yourself in such a way that you have more to give to others because your cup is full. When we don’t take care of ourselves, it becomes impossible to care for others in an open and authentic way.

Karuna is very powerful, and is never-ending. The compassion we share with ourselves automatically begins to extend towards others, and then that circles back to us once again. And this is how we transform the world by transforming ourselves.

You are beautiful and doing a great job! Don’t forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE to my channels to keep your ripple flowing in our community & support this content!!! Check out my Mind Shift membership too 🙂 Sending you expansive love, personal growth, and forgiveness. Be well.

Awakening Compassion: Karuna 15-Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior!

Please enjoy this 15-minute Meditation on Awakening Compassion (Karuna).

The goddess Tara protects us from dangers and fear. She heals illnesses and brings us abundance.- Green Tara, specifically, is the goddess of compassion. Green is the color of the heart chakra and our awakening of compassion.

Whoever prays to Tara receives her benefits – pure compassion in action. By chanting the Tara mantra, we awaken comp within ourselves, within the world, and align our heart with the heart of the universe.

In many statues of Tara, you will see her seated with her right foot extended out, because she is prepared to get up and help humanity at any given moment. Her hands are open as a symbol of her generosity and openness to reach out to others.

In many images, you will see her with an open eye in the palms of her hands and on the soles of her feet, meaning she is always looking out for beings needing assistance and freedom from their suffering.

Our mantra for awakening compassion in this meditation is Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha:

Om = the sacred vibration that heralds our oneness

Tare = liberated from all suffering

Tuttare = liberated from the eight great spiritual fears (see below)

Ture = liberated from duality

Soha (or Swaha) = may the meaning of the mantra take root within me

The eight great spiritual fears are:

Ignorance

Pride

Anger

Jealousy

Wrong thinking

Greed

Desire and attachment

Doubts

Chanting this mantra out loud, singing it, or silently repeating it to ourselves awakens the space for divine compassion, love and healing power to enter into our body, mind, heart and soul..

We can call on the beautiful green goddess Tara to always bring us back to our compassionate heart and remember the sacred oneness that lies beneath everything that is seen, felt and experienced. Enjoy using this mantra in your meditation, and perhaps even continue letting it percolate within, chanting it silently as you move through your days and your life.

Live in that space of compassion in action – the world needs more of it, and it needs you to share it.

From my heart to yours, namaste.

Source Life Tools Brahmavihara Metta

Hello Spiritual Warrior!

This week we are starting our journey into a 4-part series on The Brahmaviharas, aka the Four Virtues. They are Metta (unconditional loving kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (empathetic joy), and Upekka (equanimity). When we awaken these four virtues, or “boundless abodes” in our life, we will live with greater grace and ease. We will be living in more alignment, and with a deeper connection to source.

We’ll start with taking a deep dive into Metta, or unconditional loving kindness.

Metta is a remembering of the love that we have within. It begins and ends with compassion and loving kindness for yourself. Metta can be received and also given; it is a never-ending circle of love flowing out into the universe, and then being welcomed back to you by your open and gentle heart.

We begin a Metta practice with the people in our lives that are easy to love, and we radiate love out to them. And then we continue to broaden that circle – sending Metta to friends, acquaintances, people we don’t know well, and even those that we have grudges or grievances with.

Sending love out to our loved ones is easy, but as we begin to filter down the ladder of our relationships and connections with those around us, we may find this practice becomes a bit more challenging. And this is where our Metta practice becomes a beautiful exploration.

We are conduits of energy and love. And when we can take that love and send it to someone who has caused us pain, or who we have continual strife with, or even just someone who is challenging to be around, we learn that the power of Metta is how it shares that loving energy right back to us. It’s impossible to feel the sting of a grudge or grievance when we are actively sending loving kindness to that person.

And then beyond the challenging people, we can radiate that loving kindness out to the whole planet – to people, places and animals that we will never see or interact with – and once we feel it radiating out, we can simultaneously feel it radiating back towards us.

As you venture into the upcoming holiday season, you may find even more opportunities to practice sharing Metta than you normally do. Embrace these opportunities, and see how it can shift you internally, even while in the midst of conflict.

Metta doesn’t need to be practiced as a meditation with our eyes closed – you can choose to do it anytime, anywhere, with anybody who is in your path. (I do it all the time when I get cut off by an aggressive driver on the road!)

Never forget the power of the heart, and of the kindness and love that is always available within.

Removing Obstacles

Hello Spiritual Warrior!

This week we are taking a look at some of the causes of our suffering – it always comes down to the five Kleshas, aka the five obstacles, or five poisons.

Asmita = Ego. We believe that we are separate from the universe, and then act in accordance with that belief. We fail to remember that we ARE the universe and that there is no separation between us and everything else in existence. Aham Brahmasmi, Baby!

Avidya = Ignorance, or confusing permanence and impermanence. Remember that ‘energy can never be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed’. Ayam atma brahman – my soul, and the universal spirit, are the same thing. We are all eternal beyond this body we are housed in.

Raaga = Attachment. All of the things we are attached to, from people to things to belief systems. We cling to them, and that creates suffering because we know that they will eventually change.

Dvesha = Aversion. All of the things we don’t like and push away, from people to things to belief systems. We push them away, which causes suffering because we are trying so hard to not have that thing close to us.

Abhinivesha = Fear of Death. Almost every fear, after being distilled through all of the various lenses, comes down to a fear of death and knowing that our lives will end. We overcome this by celebrating the present moment, and starting a gratitude practice so that we can see all of the abundance and prosperity that exists around us at every single moment.

How do you see these five Kleshas showing up in your life? What are some steps that you can take to alleviate some of your suffering?

I invite you to contemplate, journal, and consider all of the ways these Kleshas are present in your life. Doing so invites us to respond to life, versus reacting to it. And from that space, we can ultimately learn to live with more peace, ease and grace.

I Am The Universe – 15 minute guided meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior! Explore the I am the Universe.

Sometimes when we have obstacles in our path, we make them worse by focusing on them, fixating on them.  There are many ways that we can remove the obstacles that are in front of us, but one of my favorite ways is to simply not give them any energy, and to remember the bigger picture – that we are the universe, we are divinity.  We are so much bigger than those obstacles that sit in our path.

By connecting to this more expansive energy and viewpoint, obstacles lose their power over us.  They become smaller, and much easier to deal with and move past.

Whenever you are feeling stuck, or overwhelmed, or spending too much energy focusing on what isn’t working versus what is, listen to this 15-minute guided meditation to remind yourself that you are so much more than those obstacles in your path.  You are the universe.  Aham Brahmasmi, Baby!

In every single moment, there are infinite possibilities available to you, and through meditation, you can make nourishing life-affirming choices. In those choices, you can also choose what you want to manifest in your life. Don’t forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE to my channels to keep your ripple flowing in our community & support this content!!! Emotional Freedom – 17-minute guided meditation

Hello, Spiritual Warrior!

Hello, my beautiful Spiritual Warrior! This week let’s take control of our emotional freedom. We can begin the journey of emotional freedom, REbirth, and self-evolution by taking some quiet time right now, reading, reflecting on, and writing down answers to 25 Sacred Questions. Following each question, we’ll find some guidance to help spark the process of awakening our Sacred Power of Acceptance. Beyond these 25, there are many deep questions we can ask ourselves to foster deeper exploration and set the foundation for our new Winning Formula. These questions we may ask ourselves today can be just as simple as describing who we are, how we want to define ourself, or even what we like to do.

According to the ideology, the root of all suffering in the world is the ignorance of our oneness. The only way to achieve true liberation is by directly understanding this oneness by actually experiencing it. Moksha (pronounced moke-sha) is the Sanskrit word for being emotionally free. An ancient Vedic text called the Katha Upanishad originally articulated the idea of moksha, which refers to one’s release from the never-ending cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. But for thousands of years, it was also understood to represent our ideal state of existence, a condition of complete liberation from our ego and all of the emotional restraints that burden us so greatly. Moksha, in my definition, is complete liberation from the past. Whatever you choose to call it, keep in mind that its origins are in the Sanskrit word muc, which can mean release, free, or let go. The journey to moksha is realizing that everything in existence is non-dual—that there aren’t really two of anything

emotional freedom graphic moksha

There is only one step to emotional freedom—only one step that will allow us to love again, and that is self-kindness and empathy. We must decide right now that we are worthy of the love of the Universe—and that we certainly are worthy of being loved again by another. If we commit right now to self-love and empathy, the hardening of our hearts will stop . . . a softening will occur . . . and love will begin showing up on our doorstep.

Return to the most divine, infinite state. Together let’s surrender to the fire of transformation and let go of what no longer serves us so we can invite our true self to shine through and make room for an abundance of emotional freedom. We are emotionally free. Liberate yourself from negative emotions and create a positive life. When the world feels like it’s closing in on you, or you feel like you’ve come to a dead end, simply bring yourself back to, Moksha. I am free.

Allowing Your Right Action to Unfold 20-Minute Guided Meditation

As we awaken the Sacred Power of Presence within us, we are gently guided back to the stillness and silence that rests inside, back to a state of being where there is time for everything.

For thousands of years, the ancient oracles, shamans, sages, and seers practiced and ultimately mastered the Sacred Power of Presence in their lives. And although it’s not very complicated, in our modern world where mindfulness and meditation are readily available to all, most people still have not cultivated a present-moment technique that they engage in every day.

The ancient Chinese sage Lao-tzu is known for this powerful set of teachings, which reinforce the Sacred Power of Presence:

Do you have the patience to wait

until your mud settles and the water is clear?

 Can you remain unmoving

till the right action arises by itself?

 The Master doesn’t seek fulfillment:

but not seeking, not expecting,

is fully present,

and can welcome all things.

As the swirl of life sweeps through you each day, allow these three powerful stanzas to become an ongoing contemplation.

Gently rippling them through your thoughts will help you gain clarity, cultivate patience, and trust in the moment.

Let’s meditate!

How Meditation Helps Us Make Better Decisions in the Moment

FLIGHT FIGHT RESPONSE

The fight-or-flight response is referred to as a biological stress response. The term stress is short for distress, a word evolved from the Latin word stringere, meaning “to draw tight or pull apart.” In your most stressful moments, it can sometimes feel as if you are being pulled in a million directions emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and in all the other aspects of your life.

Each day we experience small disappointments and larger expectations not being met. Whenever your needs aren’t met, you have the potential to respond in many ways. When you respond reflexively instead of reflectively— or automatically fighting or fleeing instead of choosing a more intuitive response—you lower yourself to your most primitive state such as the fight-or-flight response, which is hardwired into your DNA. And in that moment, you are ruled by your chemicals and hormones acting out a long-conditioned pattern.

Are you wired to fight or flee?

Which do you choose in a given moment? The level of testosterone that’s in your system will often determine whether you will fight or flee. If you have a high level of testosterone – which is the case with more men than women – than you’re pre-wired to fight upon experiencing a threat. Lower levels of testosterone – which is the case with more women than men – will make you more likely to run away. An additional factor is hunger. We are actually more likely to fight back if our stomach is empty. When we are famished, the blood flows away from our rational brain functions to our reptilian survival based functions, and boom – we are milliseconds away from attacking. But, nine out of ten times, when physically threatened, our first instinct will be to run (or at least move or jump back) – whether we are a man or a woman – before take our next step.

emotional freedom graphic mokshaBUT After meditating regularly for only a few days, you will transform forever! Those who have a consistent meditation practice have been scientifically proven to respond to the world differently. Regular meditators are calmer, less reactive, less angry, more reflective, more creative, more intuitive, more efficient, more patient, more productive, happier, more fulfilled, and ultimately more self-actualized.

Plus, meditators have highly sharpened coping practices that they use in stressful scenarios. Regardless of what’s happening in their environment, they moderate their stress levels keeping them low, which guarantees that the response is short-lived and its impact is negligible.

Want to learn some of those powerful coping mechanisms I mentioned? I invite you to join my Mind Shift monthly membership community. Every month we explore tips, tools and techniques for keeping our meditation practice consistent, awakening our best version in any moment, and stepping into the inner power that we all possess.
