Busy, Busy Busy! Plus A Giveaway #giveaway
Good Morning Lovelies,The last few weeks have been absolutely insane! As you know my second book, Persuasion Skills was released on July 5th, and things have been crazy ever since.
Despite the modern myth, authors just don't have books released and the books are instantly seen and gobbled up by readers. Nope! Along with their publishers, authors have a responsibility to get the word out on their books as well. So for the last few weeks I've been busy, busy, busy!
If you've been following me on Facebook or checking my Twitter feed you know that I've been all over the interwebs these past few weeks. I've been doing guest posts and interviews at a bunch of different sites in the last 4 weeks I'm I'm straight up exhausted. Between the additional posts, drama at work and my current work in progress I haven't been able to find time to blog.
All this traveling was definitely worth it though. I'll be doing a catch up post shortly about how Persuasion Skills has been received so far by the reading public. Persuasion Skills Cover Reveal!
Hello Lovelies!I've been bouncing around for the last few days super excited to finally have the official release date and cover art for Persuasion Skills! Final edits went out, cover art mocks tweaked and approved, final release date set!
So drum roll please . . .The release date is this Friday, July 5th! Yeah I know, I ran around like a headless chicken when it was confirmed. Admittedly I had the opportunity to chose a later date, but you know me...no patience! So July 5th was chosen and Ay Caramba! what a whirl wind it's been since.
Anyhoo, doesn't that cover just look scrumptious? As the image alludes there are some...(ahem) interesting scenes in the book involving an alpha hero and a woman who doesn't mind being swayed by his methods of persuasion...

Time absolutely got away from me this past week! I had edits due and of course the day job decided that it would be a perfect week for break neck deadlines. The great little mini vacation I had planned for my birthday went out the window and was replaced with very little sleep and an eye twitch.

Smex Quotient: Finding love in the age of zombies? Hell yeah! I flat out LOVED this read. Aside from the chemistry between the smexy Wunder and Pete, I loved the concept of a "semi-zombie" erotic fiction. It was incredibly well done.

I love a good paranormal and the concept of a zombie world sounds both scary and cool. Why did you choose to put them in your book?
What brought me to bring Wunder to life was a ‘request’ for writers to submit a zombie story for an anthology on Halloween to help raise money for Diabetes, it caught my eye and had me thinking. I LOVE scary movies and always had fun watching zombies dragging their feet letting us know they wanted “BRAINS” & it will give me a chance to help a worthy cause. I did not want to go the regular zombie way though. Not everyone enjoys gore like I do. I needed to do something different, that I've never seen, heard of or read. So I wrote Wunder (Originally titled “Because I Am”). Now here we are.
The chemistry between Wunder and Pete is hot with a capital H! What was your favorite scene to write?
As of right now, my favorite scene to write is within Wunder (0.5 Dreamz). Wunder sees Pete for the very first time, EVER and it trying to lip read what he is saying to a friend. I cannot tell you any more from there. I don't want to ruin it. But I laughed so very hard when I wrote it :)
Secrets and lies always add an interesting dimension to a romance. Without revealing too much, was it difficult getting Wunder and Pete together in the end?
No, not at all. These two were meant to be together all of their lives. The readers will get a better understanding of the 'how' and 'why' once they read both of the series that is out now. I think it's pretty freakin' cool. I LOVE these two together. They really are a hot couple!
If your main characters participated in Casual Smex Friday which segment would they enjoy the most? The Quickie, The Afternoon Delight, The Midnight Grind or The Aafterglow Strut?
Honestly, the way Pete and Wunder are they'll take, do, try out all of the above. They just cannot seem to get enough of one another and have waited all of their lives to meet. Yup, no stopping those two :)
Is there anything else you'd like to tell readers, or any new upcoming projects?
I have a few things going on right now. The next two of the Wunder series are in the works. One of them (Wunder 0.5 DreamZ) will be out next month and I'm hoping to have Wunder #2 Reunion out no later than August. I have another short that’s to be published in an anthology I wrote specifically for WOCA (Writing Out Child Abuse) that’ll be out some time this year. It’s nothing at all like Wunder, no paranormal elements or romance. It’s more of a ‘based on real life’ story, it’s a very emotional story of a child and how she was never listened to…

Loving Day 2013 #LovingDay
Hello Lovelies,
Today the Swirl Awards is sponsoring a blog hop in celebration of Loving Day. Over 30 authors are participating and talking about their books, why they write interracial romance and giving away books and awesome prizes.
What is Loving Day? Today marks the 46th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court case Loving vs. Virginia. In honor of the case we celebrate Loving Day every year on this day. Although the case is noted as a land mark civil rights case it is also a land mark case for love equality.
Until that moment in 1967, interracial marriage was considered illegal in most of the United States. Mildred Loving a black woman, and her husband Richard Loving, a white male, took their case for love and equality all the way to the supreme court and won. In a unanimous decision the court declared that a ban against interracial marriage was unconstitutional and as a result ended all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States. In other words, for once love truly did conquer all.
Richard & Mildred LovingTo say that this case hits home personally is an understatement. I myself am part of an interracial marriage and plan on having children one day whom I want to also have the freedom to love who they choose. Looking back on this court case is somewhat surreal for me because I honestly can't fathom why a case for love even needed to be made. It seems so obvious and basic to me, which in itself is a blessing and part of the legacy the Lovings created by taking their case all the way to the supreme court. Thanks to them I have the luxury of looking back at the case and shaking my head in wonder at how ignorant and bigoted our laws were back then.
Richard & Mildred LovingAlthough interracial relationships and marriages have become more and more prevalent there is still a lot of social and cultural awareness that is still left to be done. Even though my hubby and I live in a fairly liberal city, we still occasionally get stares and sly looks. In all honestly we do look pretty damn good together so i like to believe its just plain jealousy. And as the recent uproar over a Cheerios commercial shows there is still much to be done.
Many of you know how much I love a good romance. Although, I'm a self-proclaimed, tongue in cheek, "smex" peddler, my heart truly does love...well LOVE. The act of it, the joy of it, the pain of it and the pure POWER of it. It deserves it's own spotlight and dagnabit yes it deserves its own genre on the bookshelves. Romance/Love is the one equalizer for us all.
I began writing interracial romance not just because I myself am in an interracial relationship, but because I felt (and still do) that it love across the rainbow (and yes even gender) spectrum should be showcased and shared along with all of the traditional/mainstream color wheels.

This trio of lovers most definitely have more than a bit of sizzle. What made you decide on a polyamorous/menage relationship for this story?
When I was developing the story, Ivy was originally going on the date herself, but her friend didn’t want her to go up the mountain alone. So, when he decided to tag along, the man up at the resort told me he’d be up for a threesome. Since Ivy and Kiran are adventurous souls and had wanted to add a third to their dynamic, it all worked out.
I'm used to seeing m/f/m menage romances where the two men are friends and they pursue the woman. I like the idea that your story is set up with the "alpha" pursuing a m/f pair of friends. What made you decide to tilt the usual standard for this story?
The characters wanted it that way, and I just typed what they dictated. ;) Plus, like you said, it’s a different and interesting way to approach a ménage relationship.
The 1 Night Stand series never seems to disappoint when it comes to packing a lot of heat into a small package. How do you go about planning a short story/novella yet still keep the story full and complete?
It’s a bit difficult trying to get people together, having their relationships and attractions go full speed ahead right from the start, and having it all make sense in such a short time. But with some particular key phrasing and character thought processes throughout the stories, it seems to work. In my first 1NS story (Sunset Desires) and in Sunset Temptations, I have the people meeting for the first time. They all go into their dates with certain expectations about what will happen, so when the attractions and hook-ups do occur, it works within the stories. For my second story (Sunset Seduction) and upcoming fourth one (Sunset Heat), the women are reunited with men they knew once upon a time. With histories already set between them, it made getting the pairs together much easier.
If your main characters participated in Casual Smex Friday which segment would they enjoy the most? The Quickie, The Afternoon Delight, The Midnight Grind or The Aafterglow Strut?
Because it’s a short story and Robert is a busy man, they’d probably go for The Quickie, but if he allowed himself a respite from the business they’d be all into The Midnight Grind. ;)

Tell us a little bit about Sunset Temptations. What was your inspiration?
C.R.: A couple of years ago I went to a convention and met the lovely ladies of Decadent Publishing. While a group of us were sitting around and talking, information about Decadent’s 1NightStand line of books came up. The concept sounded interesting, and I told them I’d send in a story. I had already started on a book that I thought I’d target to a different publisher and their line, but I re-purposed it for the 1NS series. Thankfully, the first story, ‘Sunset Desires’ was accepted and from there followed ‘Sunset Seduction,’ the release I’m touting today: ‘Sunset Temptations’ and the fourth book ‘Sunset Heat’ is in the editing queue. The ‘Sunset’ series follows four female relatives on their dating adventures. I like sunsets. I live in the area my stories are set in. And after a trip up on the mountain, the storyline came to me.
Can you give us a little taste of how your heroes and heroine would go about foreplay?
C.R.: Here’s a short excerpt from when Ivy meets Robert. It’s not sexual foreplay, but the start of the drumroll of pleasure they’re to share later in the story…
She couldn’t quite place his accent. British? Kind of. Eastern European? Sort of that, too. Wherever he hailed from that gave him the deliciously sinful quality to his speech didn’t matter. She could listen to him talk forever.
She accepted his gesture. Her skin tingled from his touch. He tugged her toward him and placed a kiss on each cheek. Her knees shook and almost buckled. Ah, hell. He’d turned her body into a red-hot wire.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, too, Mr. Bourbon,” she managed after several awkward moments.
The corner of his lips turned up, and a twinkle lit his eyes.
Charmer.
If your characters could describe the one thing they find the sexiest about each other what would it be?
C.R.: Ivy thinks Robert’s voice is sexy. Kiran likes Robert’s commanding manner. Robert likes Kiran’s fun-loving attitude about life and Ivy’s adventurous spirit.
What was your favorite scene or situation to write?
C.R.: I enjoyed writing the scene in the hall. Can’t say too much more about it cause I don’t want to give away key points of the story. ;)

“You know you can always tap me.”
“True. But don’t you want to change things up? Experience something, someone different for once?”
“Yeah, that’s why I suggested finding a third for our arrangement. Spice up our routine.”
“I’d be all for it, but considering neither of us has found said person yet, I’m going to take what I can get through this date my cousin set up for me.”
“So am I.” He smiled, his straight, white teeth gleaming and his olive-toned skin shining in the golden glow of the afternoon sun. “Don’t worry. I’m not gonna cramp your style. I have my own person to meet up at the lodge.”
She loved her handsome, bisexual friend, and as long as he was on his own date, that meant he wouldn’t attempt to put the moves on hers. “Well, I guess it’s okay then. Get in the car. You can tell me all about whoever has invited you to the event on the way to pick up Seana.”
“Technically I haven’t met him yet.”
Processing his statement, she climbed into the driver’s seat. “What do you mean you haven’t met him yet?” She pulled out of their apartment complex and headed in the direction of her cousin’s place.
Kiran’s gaze darted everywhere, never landing on her. “Um…. I signed up with 1Night Stand, and tonight’s my date, too.”
Ivy stopped herself from slamming on the brakes. “Where did you get the money to pay for the service? Huh? I know you’re as broke as I am. We’ve lost our jobs. We’re losing our rental. If you had cash stashed somewhere, we could have used it for a new apartment lease. I know you want—”
“You’re rambling.” He placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed. “I want a partner. You’ve always understood that.” Her roommate released her, shifted in his seat, then played with a frayed string on his jeans. “Most of the guys I’ve met are self-centered assholes who don’t have sense enough to treat their significant other right. I’d like to meet a nice man, for once. When I emailed Madame Evangeline at 1Night Stand and told her I was a friend of yours and Heather’s, she was happy to accommodate me. That’s why she arranged for my night to be the same one as yours and Seana’s.”
“And the money?”
Silence rolled thick from the other seat. Her instincts screamed trouble.
“Kiran?”
He cleared his throat. “Well….”
She’d seen and heard this nervousness from him before. That time he’d gotten into a little trouble with some bad dudes. Could he have done so again? She shot a quick glance at him. His skin seemed on the pale side. Her sixth sense dinged. “Oh no. You didn’t.”

BDSM relationships have so many interesting facets of trust. What made you decide to make Faith and Richard's romance a Dom/sub one?
I spent a good deal of my adult life in the BDSM and D/s lifestyle. I'm not immersed in it 24/7 anymore, but many of my previous sexual relationships had at least some sort of "lifestyle" dynamic. It's what I enjoy in the bedroom, so when it came time to write a "bedroom scene" it just came naturally. If I enjoy it and it gets me hot, I have to believe there are readers out there that would enjoy it as well.
What was your favorite scene to write, without giving too much away of course?
My favorite scene in the book, by far, is the dinner scene. It comes early in the story, and is not something I have actually ever experienced, but that being said, it's on my TO DO list. So sensual and submissive -- I don't want to say more than that and spoil anything, but I can't wait to see what readers think about it.
Richard sounds like a Dom any sub would love to bottom for. What was your inspiration for his character?
He is actually named for my Uncle Richard. Before you think that's weird, let me explain. Uncle Rich, "Unc" as we call him, had been teasing me because the paranormal romance I wrote under my "mainstream" pen name (Rebecca Hart) featured a main character named after my dad (Daniel). I promised him I'd name the next leading man after him. That leading man happened to be the sexy, oh so dominant, Richard Halstead. His traits are a melding of all the things I loved most about the Dom men I have "served" in my real life. I guess he's my idea of the perfect Dom.
If your main characters participated in Casual Smex Friday which segment would they enjoy the most? The Quickie, The Afternoon Delight, The Midnight Grind or The Aafterglow Strut?
I would have to go with the midnight grind. Richard doesn't seem to really fit into the quickie category and he is a businessman, so afternoons are probably out as well. I guess he could be part of the afterglow crowd... but that is more his partners than him. *grins*
Is there anything else you'd like to tell readers, or any new upcoming projects?
A Leap of Faith is my first stand alone piece with Evernight Publishing and the continuation of my story FAITH'S GIFT from the Vanilla-Free Christmas anthology. This will be the second story of hopefully many tales in what I've decided to call my Roses and Thorns series. Each story will feature Faith and Richard and follow the development of their Dom/sub relationship.
