Casual Smex Friday with Jamallah Bergman
Hello All,
Welcome back to Casual Smex Friday! It's been a long hiatus smex kittens but I'm resurrecting this segment with and can't wait to share new reads with you all. So over the next few months some author friends will be stopping by and sharing some naughty details with you all. I don't know about you but TGISmex :) For those of you unfamiliar with the Casual Smex Friday posts, here's a quick breakdown. On Casual Smex Friday you’re encouraged to sit back, relax and get smexy. Remember that Smex day posts consist of the following four segments:
1.) The Quickie- For those of you who only have time for some quick relief.
2.) The Afternoon Delight- For the reader who wants a little foreplay before smexing.
3.) The Midnight Grind-For those of you who want to go beyond foreplay and get to main show.
4.) The After Glow Strut- For those of you not afraid to show your love and go for another round.
Today I’m bringing you an interview with author Jamallah Bergman who was nice enough to give us the inside scoop on her decadently naughty new release.. So close the drapes, assume the position (reading position of course) and let’s get the smexing started!
The Quickie…

>
Name: Jamallah Bergman
Stats: Writer Jamallah Bergman was born in Jamaica Queens, New York. Although her family moved around a bit; from New York to Alabama to Georgia. Jamallah's childhood was mostly spent in Roswell, Georgia.
At the age of twelve, Jamallah started writing scripts for her doll babies. As she got older, her inclination to write grew.
Soon after reading her first romance novel at fifteen; she became hooked on romance and deviated from writing her doll baby stories, to romantically inclined stories.
Her thirst to write eventually sent her from one out of the box experience to another. She eventually engaged her thoughts and writing into writing erotic stories.
As Jamallah's interest as a reader grew, questions aroused her curiosity. Why were the heroines in the stories she loved so much, nothing like herself. She felt none of the women were full figured, or plump. To coin a phrase from the well known comedienne Mo'Nique, like "Thick Madame", a thick and curvy woman.
Often she became upset because she felt there should be stories out there about all types of women, including thick, beautiful women like herself. Why were there no stories about full figured women who got the handsome hunk? She would ask herself after reading another romance story where the beautiful main character was thin.
After researching and finding very few stories about curvy women, Jamallah thought it was time the romance readers market read more stories about full figured heroines.
She started to write stories where the full figured woman 'ALWAYS' got her man!
Latest Release: Her Chocolate Fantasy is my 10th book but it’s also my 1st self-published book since I’ve been publishing with Secret Cravings Publishing for a number of years, this has been something I’ve always wanted to do and with this particular story, I really wanted it to be my 1st Indie book.
Genre: Interracial Romance/ Interracial Erotica
Her Chocolate Fantasy:
Hello my name is Sarah Alexander…..and I’m a chocoholic
I’ve been this way for as long as I can remember…..
Chocolate has been my passion since I was young and even as an adult, I dream about this yummy confection.
Well I don’t always dream of chocolate though…..
I do dream about Max Taylor, one of the executives in the office where I work at as a file clerk.
I mean who wouldn’t want to dream about a man who sends my heart racing every time I would look his way.
Soon Max and I get to know one another and we both realize that we have one thing in common with one another besides our love for one another…..
An obsession over chocolate…..
HER CHOCOLATE FANTASY is a story about what happens when you get two chocoholics together…..and all of the hot sweetness that happens in between.
Availability: Amazon (US) | Amazon (UK) | Kobo | Smashwords
Smex Quotient: All I have to say is please pass the chocolate! This is one hot read guaranteed to make your pulse race hand have you craving more than just sweets...
The Afternoon Delight…
The cover art for this book is unique to say the least. Where did you come up with the idea and who was the artist?
Well that’s a funny story right there. After I had started writing the story, I had been thinking constantly about how I had wanted the cover to be. I love to be different when it comes to my writing and especially when it comes to my covers. And being that this was my 1st Indie book, I really wanted to do it up so I had gotten with the talented Fiona Jayde who I got the chance to meet at last year’s Romance Novel Convention. She was just as excited about working with me as I was with her because I had seen many of her covers and I loved her work. So I had told her about the story and what it was mainly about…two people who loved chocolate. I had told her that I had dreamed of this cover for months on end and it was literally bugging me to get it out on a cover.
Basically I had wanted to have a picture of a half opened candy bar with a picture of Jimmy Thomas, who was my inspiration for ‘Max Taylor’ embossed on the candy bar like you would see with most candy bars with the lettering like say ‘Hershey’ or ‘Cadbury’. I also wanted the lettering to be like that of a candy bar which it was. When I saw the draft of the picture, I can tell you I was very much excited because it was exactly as I had pictured it in my head all those months and finally my dream was becoming reality.
I love the idea that both the hero and heroine have a love of all things decadent. What inspired you to give them both this trait?
Chocolate is a universal thing that brings people together. It brings out happiness, like when you enjoy chocolate for the first time as a kid and how messy you get when you eat it. Love like when you get your very first Valentine’s Day box of chocolate from that someone special. But for both Sarah and Max, it’s not only brings happiness and love but also it brings a deep rooted sexual desire between the two that Sarah literally has no idea is coming. There are several scenes within the book that show just how chocolate plays a key role of the relationship between Max and Sarah. One in particular, which I have to say is my top 5 favorites, is the office scene where Max calls Sarah to come to his office with the big box of chocolates he bought for her as a gift. I won’t give out too much but it’s intense and as the story progresses as well as their love for one another progresses, things do get more intense.
We already know that both your main characters have a love of chocolate, but if they would both name their favorite chocolate treat what would it be?
Oh my….you know that’s funny because really and truly that’s a hard thing to ask two chocoholics what their favorite chocolate treat is. But after a long talk with the both of them, along with a couple of laughs in between, I was at least able to find out what they loved the most.
Sarah: Chocolate Walnut Fudge. Sarah went to a shop on a trip to Myrtle Beach where she had heard about a shop that sold this amazing homemade fudge. Being the chocoholic as she was, Sarah had to try it out for herself. Of course when she did, she ended up going back the next day and getting more for she had eaten the pound that she had already gotten. Ever since that day, she has always made sure to get some of the fudge sent to her by mail.
Max: Chocolate bonbons from Ode au Chocolat. In the story, Max goes to the shop to buy two boxes of chocolates. One for himself and one for Sarah not knowing that Sarah was in the kitchen taking classes to become a chocolatier. When she goes back to work, Sarah sees the box of chocolates on her desk. Max soon gets Sarah to eat one of the chocolates while he watches, which sparks something within him, which also leads up to the infamous ‘office scene’ within the book.
If your main characters participated in Casual Smex Friday which segment would they enjoy the most? The Quickie, The Afternoon Delight, The Midnight Grind or The Afterglow Strut?
Probably the Midnight Grind because it’s Sarah’s favorite part.
The Midnight Grind…
Combining chocolate and sweets with erotica is the ultimate mixing of naughty and nice. It looks like Sarah and Max have no problem with engaging all of their senses and indulging in all of the things that make you lick your lips and sweat. Here's an excerpt for your reading pleasure...
“Want to share some dessert?”
I nodded, and he took our containers to toss them in the trash. He made his way over to the trucks, as I continued drinking my water to cleanse my palate of the jerk chicken I had eaten. After a couple of minutes of waiting, I saw him coming toward me with a covered plate in one hand and two forks in another. When he sat down, he handed me a fork and took the paper towel off of the plate to reveal the most decadent piece of chocolate cheesecake I had ever seen in my entire life. I wondered where in the hell they got the damn thing—a cheese wheel the size of a wagon wheel? It was thick and looked so rich I knew once I took a piece with my fork it would just slide right on through stay there.
“Dig on in,” he told me, and I was happy to oblige.
I used my fork to take a piece off the end. I honestly didn’t mean to make that moaning sound when I let the creaminess play against my tongue for a while. Really and truthfully, I couldn’t help it at all, because honestly, when I taste chocolate, it’s more like an orgasmic experience for me. Especially when my taste buds know the chocolate is that of good quality like it was in that cheesecake. I couldn’t help but take another bite, and then another and another, until before I realized it, when I went back for another forkful, there was nothing left. I looked over at Max, who had been eyeballing me the entire time. The look on his face was that of shock, and I could tell he must have gotten into what I was doing as much as I was, because a light coating of sweat had formed on his face. He quickly grabbed hold of the napkins and wiped his brow.
“I think we better head on back to work.” He took hold of our plate and sprinted toward the trashcan, disappearing before I could even get to my feet.
* * * *
When I made it back to the office, I noticed Max’s door was closed and the blinds were all down. I didn’t want to make a scene, so I didn’t bother going to the door. Maybe he had to get back to work or something, but it was kind of weird of him to leave me so abruptly like he did. I went about my business, continuing where I had left off before I left for lunch. For the next little bit, every now and then, I would look up to see if maybe the blinds would open up, but they never did. Finally, about ten minutes later, the blinds were up but the door remained closed for another five minutes or so beyond that. I had to find out what had happened, so grabbing my coffee cup, I got up to walk past his door, and that’s when it hit me. But at first, I didn’t think anything of it, because it smelled like air freshener, but it was what was mingled along with the scent of fresh linen. As I drew in a deep breath, I clearly smelled the odor of sex. That hot, sweaty, heady scent slowly drifted through his open doorway. I didn’t bother to look inside, because I didn’t want everybody else looking my way, as well. But when I got to my desk, I had pressed a button that I never thought I would be pressing, even though I’d programmed his number into my phone a long time ago. Looking over, I saw him grab the phone, and before he could say a word, I whispered, “Mr. Taylor, I think you should open a window before you open the door next time, because the aroma of more than your air freshener is wafting throughout the office.”

Steampunk, Mythology and Romance?

I'm in the midst of finalizing my two March book releases which will include Midnight Truce, the third installment of my Golden Pack Alphas serial and Executive Control. And of course even though my list of projects for this year have already been organized and set up in a production schedule (yes a production schedule) my muse is being all sorts of childish right now. As of next week I need to start writing the beginning of a new series (more on this later) and all my muse wants to do is talk about Vikings. Yes, Vikings!
A few weeks ago I caught the first few episodes of the History channel's show ,Vikings and became...intrigued. The show is violent and gritty, which I love. However coupled with my current leisure reading of Fantasy and Steampunk romances, my muse has gone haywire. Story ideas have come flooding combining Viking lore with Steampunk and I'm itching to play around with them. HOWEVER, I have a schedule and promises to keep, so no bueno.
In an effort to satisfy my nagging muse and relieve my fear of missing out on telling a great story, I spent this morning outlining a pretty great fantasy novel. I just finished the outline and pressed save. I'm happy knowing that the story will keep for a little while longer and that all of the ideas floating around for it have been neatly organized and stowed away for when I have an opportunity to pick it up and start writing.
Yes this is a type of delayed satisfaction, but one thing I learned on my current journey in writing is that you can't be a slave to your muse. If you allow it to control your schedule NOTHING will ever get completed. I find it easier to take some time to jot down a few notes and either create a skeleton or a full fledged outline of these types of interruptions then get back to my current project(s). That way, I know I haven't missed out on a potentially brilliant story, and I still get to finish my current works in progress without that annoying feeling that I'd rather be writing something else.
So here's a question for everyone, writers and readers. What do YOU do to combat mental distractions when you have deadlines or things that just have to be done?

Blurb:
Lee Stone didn’t want a heart-shaped box of boring chocolates for Valentine’s Day. She didn’t want a trip to Vegas. She’d been there and done that. What she longed for was one Valentine’s Day that didn’t invite tragedy and chaos. The last three years with her boyfriend, Tank Begaye, had been host to a blizzard, a fire, and a heart attack. For once, she wanted to spend the day nestled in her lover’s arms.
Tank Begaye had weathered the long-distance relationship with Lee for years. Now, he meant to make her a permanent fixture in his life—as his wife. Avoiding the cliché Valentine Day’s proposals at restaurants and public landmarks, Tank knew exactly where to go—his family’s Hogan, deep in the heart of the Navajo Reservation. Surrounded by his ancestors’ spirits, he would ask Lee to join their family’s circle.
Excerpt:
Scarlet streaks flushed to pink and vibrant orange as the day bled from dawn to dusk. The colors painted the horizon along the burnt dust of the northern edge of the Navajo Nation’s reservation land. At over a mile high, this section of the high desert stretched out in all directions, racing toward its postcard edges. Picturesque, perfect, and patient, the land had witnessed death, destruction, and desperation. So why the H.E. double hockey sticks did Tank have her out here? The bright sunlight, crisp air, and fluffy white clouds belied the near twenty-three degree temperature. February became cold around these parts. The season didn’t care at all that today was Valentine’s Day.
Lee Stone frowned as the bite of another cold blast tore across the mesas and threatened to tear through her coat. Shuddering inside her parka, she could not fathom another Valentine’s Day mired in tragedy or random acts of chaos. Slivers of icy wind streaked through her ebony parka and her sweater, directly to her very bones. With her fingers growing numb inside her leather gloves, she yanked her hat farther down over her ears, and not for the first time, cursed the Valentine’s Day gods. It appeared that for the fourth year in a row, her sweetheart day would end in utter disaster. She looked around.
What could possibly be out here?
Biting her lip, she cast a glance at Tank Begaye. One eyeful of him never satisfied her. It never quenched her constant craving for him. His cowboy hat was tugged low over his eyes, and his arrow-straight black hair tied in a ponytail that hugged the nape of his neck. After four years, most couples’ fires had cooled to a comfortable temperature. Not theirs. Her desire burned blue-hot for him, just like the first day they met. Feeling the familiar tug of hunger skirt across her clit, she squeezed her thighs together before taking the next step forward. Her gaze moved downward from his neck to his leather-clad back, wide and delicious.
Whatever plans he had, she knew that the calloused hand of Fate would knock them off, scattering them into oblivion and the Navajo desert. They crested a ridge that looked out over the valley below. Speckled with Western-style houses, Hogans, and mobile homes, the sheep and yuccas outnumbered the living structures.
“Tank…” She detested the whine threading through her voice, but the suspense threatened to overtake her.
He gazed out toward the valley below and hummed. “It’s beautiful here.”
When she sighed, a stream of condensed air flew from her lips. They’d met at a freak party in Las Vegas and she’d lassoed his heart. He lived in Colorado and she resided in New Mexico. Each year they planned to meet on Valentine’s Day, and each year Fate fucked it up. The first year a blizzard tore through the Southwest and dumped a foot and a half of snow on the Four Corner region. The second year, a fire exploded in Tank’s ranch-style home the day before he’d planned to leave. Last year beat the mother of all tragedies. Tank’s ancient grandmother died two days before V-day. He was devastated. Maybe that was why he had them out here on the rez.
Road weary and exhausted from hiking through the high hills and low valleys of the reservation, Lee put her freezing hands into her pockets and fondled the thin, gift-wrapped box. She’d bought Tank a necklace, one with turquoise and silver crafted by a Zuni silversmith. As a Navajo, Tank had access to Native American crafts, but she’d had this piece crafted just for him. One of her students in Gallup was Zuni and her father a silversmith. Despite the cold outside burning her nose and making her ears sting, the gift warmed her.
“Where are we going?” she asked, calling above the sharp whistle of the wind.
He turned to her in that slow, seductive manner of his. “It’s a surprise.”
She bit back the retort she had in her throat. His sable-brown eyes peered out from beneath the shadow of his cowboy hat. Heat washed over her as if he’d touched her. Feeling better, Lee smiled and found her hope reassured. He did that all the time, sometimes with his voice over the cell phone, and other times with his eyes via Skype. The long distance between them had made maintaining their love a challenge, but when they were together, like this, it was all worth it—every mile, every minute, and every bit of money to keep and nurture what they had. She huddled deeper into her coat. Still, this hiking thing was not how she’d intended to spend her Valentine’s Day.
“This had better be good,” she mumbled.
He nodded and took her hand into his big one. His much larger hand engulfed hers.
“How much farther?”
“Just down this side path.” He inclined his head to the west.
Through the sparse grouping of trees, she saw the small, single-story structure. The door faced east, and puffs of fluffy smoke huffed out of a black circular chimney. Tank stepped in front of her, and led her down the narrow pathway that wound through the desert’s untamed brush. Lee had taught in New Mexico for the last fifteen years, so she recognized the Navajo Hogan when she saw it. A five-sided structure sat alone on the flattest section of the land. Packed adobe covered some of the walls, but harsh New Mexico winters had worn some of it down. The gusty winds whipped it down over the decades.
Lee had no idea what to expect and her feet failed to move. Tank must have felt her hand fall away, and he turned to her, concern on his face.
“What’s going on?” She couldn’t shake her rearing. There were places black folks just didn’t go. Besides, sacred places like Hogans and cemeteries were not normal destinations for Valentine’s Day.
Tank sighed. “It’s Valentine’s Day…”
“Not a sacred Navajo day…” she interjected.
He grinned at that. “No, no it isn’t.”
“So…”
“So follow me and I’ll give you a surprise.”

What's Your Happy Place? Plus a #Contest!

I just recently completed decorating and organizing my home office. After months of procrastination and laziness I finally got around to painting my last shelf and tacking on the last bit of trim. My office is now my favorite room in the house.
In honor of this I've decided to throw a little contest. Post a picture or comment below describing your favorite place in your home. Let me know what about it makes you happy.
In two weeks, Monday February 10th 2014, I'll choose a winner and they'll get a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate. Remember to leave your name and email address!
Please format your response as follows:Name:Email: Place:Description or Picture:Why you love it:
Okay now for the PICTURES!!! Many of you already know that I'm an HGTV fiend! So when I moved into my new house last year I attacked almost every room with gusto. Unfortunately because, my office space is in the loft portion of my home, It became packed with boxes and just STUFF. A small path remained open for me to make it to my desk, but at one point I was back to working at the dining table because the mess in the room was just too distracting, and every spare moment I had I wanted to spend writing, not cleaning.
However, in December when I learned I'd be leaving my day job and moving to writing full time I had no choice but to get the chaos under control. Below is the final result (at least for now).
My Desk:
Made from MDF, a 2x5 sheet of acrylic and table legs from Home Depot. The whole thing was painted in a bright salmon pink. I spray painted one side of the acrylic sheet in gold and when it was dry placed it on top of the mdf.

My Book Shelves: Acquired over the years from multiple sources; Target, Walmart, Kmart. I painted them all one unifying color (turquise) and added trim (Home Depot) on the sides to make them look like one piece. I used the same pink paint from the desk to pain the inside backing of the shelves. On the center shelf I used wrapping paper found on sale at Home Goods as wallpaper to mix things up a bit. The shelves behind my desk are Closet Maid shelves in white I purchased a few years ago and were in varying rooms of the house before I placed them in the office for additional storage.

My Printing Nook: A dividing screen on sale at Pier One and an old folding typing desk. I hate seeing electronics liter my office. Since my desk doesn't have any cubbies, I placed my printer and recycle bin in a corner of the room and hid them from view using the screen. I purchased the screen a few years ago during one of Pier1's rare sales were prices are actually affordable and not laughable. It didn't really fit in with the decor of the new house so I re-purposed it. I'm still debating on whether I should paint the screen. But for now it remains in its original white.

My Unicorn: Uncommon Goods. Yes I have a unicorn ans I spray painted it pink with gold glitter. Why? Because my muse demanded it :) It hangs behind my desk and amuses me to no end.

Other Stuff: HomeGoods, Overstock.com, World Market, Life. Other things in my office have been gathered through out the years. My dry erase board has been around for a while, I just spray painted it to match the rest of the room. My desk lamp has been around since lord knows when and also got a healthy dose of pink paint and gold glitter. The ottoman is a World Market find, the rug an Overstock.com indulgence and my chair, lantern and foot stool are all HomeGoods finds. And the microscope behind my desk is a reminder of my days working in a science lab.

So I've obviously spent a lot of time working on this space, but the paint smudged arms, aching back were well worth it. My office in now the perfect place for me to sit down, focus, create and write.
Okay so now it's your turn to share. What is your happy place? Provide a picture or description below in the comments. Let me know what the place is and why you love it. I'll choose one winner two weeks from today on Monday, February 10th 2014.
Prize: $25 Amazon Gift Certificate
