Viking’s Oath #FreeRead
Hello, A few days ago I promised that I would keep you up to date regarding my works in progress. Along that vein, today I want to share with you the inspiration for my first historical fantasy novel. Last year several authors and I, wrote short stories that were distributed exclusively to people who subscribed to the Romance Novels in Color newsletter. I stepped a little outside of my comfort zone and wrote a short story inspired by a documentary I had recently watched on Viking’s. As I wrote the story I found myself outlining the a longer more intricate story for my hero and heroine. I was both surprised and pleased with the turn of events. I never thought I would ever write a historical romance, but couldn’t help but explore the story unfolding in my head. I’ve been working on the expansion of the story for the last … Continue reading

Where’s Laurel?
Hi All, So…yeah…I’ve been super incognito for the last few months. What started off as a much needed break from social media and other distractions, in order to focus on writing, snowballed into several months of craziness and seclusion. To start, let me answer the questions I get most often via email: Yes, I have been writing Yes, You can expect several FULL length novels from me this year Yes, the world set up in The Golden Pack Alphas series will continue in a new set of books No, I don’t have firm release dates yet, but expect at least three novels from me this year. No, I don’t plan on abandoning novella and serials. My … Continue reading

Color of Love Blog Hop 2014
It’s that time of the year where we celebrate our love for characters of color in romantic fiction in the Color of Love Blog Hop. As some of you may know, I don’t participate in many blog hops through out the year. As much as I love them, sometimes I just don’t have the time to participate. However, The Color of Love Blog Hop is very near and dear to my heart. The purpose of the hop is to draw attention to romance stories featuring characters of diverse races and cultures, something that I believe the romance genre and publishing as a whole should embrace. When I embarked on my writing journey, I was lucky enough, that many other authors had already paved the way for more diverse leading men and women in fiction. Today, the M/M and F/F romance genres are getting more and more exposure. Characters from different … Continue reading

Laurel’s Simple Samosa Pot Pie
Hello All, Happy Long weekend! I’m keeping this post short and sweet. I have to put the finishing touches on a short story about VIKINGS! Anyway, this week has been filled with a lot of crazy awesomeness. The final installment for the Golden Pack Alphas series, Midnight Born, is finally out there and doing well (THANK YOU ALL!) and as I began to settle onto my couch tonight with a good read, I got several email requests from friends for a pot pie recipe that I make often when I throw dinner parties. The pie is not only delicious and simple to make it’s also vegan! There are certain recipes that I never seem to write down, so they stay stored in my brain until someone badgers me into sharing. Well today is that day and I figured I’d share with you all as well! Samosa Pot Pie Ingredients Veggies … Continue reading
