Seriously. Do Not Google Yourself. (Do Not ChumHum Yourself Either.)

Guys, something crazy aired on TV this week. I mean, not CRAZY crazy, just, you may remember I posted about not Googling yourself? And within said post, I offered the alternative of getting Google Alerts about hot celebrities, and closed my argument with a photo of Will Gardner?

Um, this week on The Good Wife?

In his seductively dark office? WILL GARDNER GOOGLED CHUMHUM’D HIMSELF.

My brain totally exploded.

(Also, Will Gardner learned the same lesson I imparted on you guys. It’s a bad idea. He sh...

Musical Theatre Monday – Amy Spalding on Ragtime

Welcome to Musical Theatre Monday! Thanks to all my wonderful guest bloggists and my interviewee; guys, I appreciate every single one of you. And I’m super excited about my upcoming guests! Today, however, it’s back to me. HOPE THAT’S COOL WITH EVERYONE.

I have this period in my life I consider “the dark time” which in retrospect is A LITTLE overdramatic because the truth is that despite all the things that felt like they were falling apart (and, in many cases, were), I lived in my parents’ ba...

Book Deals: The Good, the Bad, the Uggo McGee – Thoughts by Brandy Colbert, Leila Howland, Lindsay Ribar, and Me!

Firstly, if you haven’t entered to win an advance copy of The Reece Malcolm List…what are you waiting for?

This week I decided to talk to some other upcoming debut authors about their experiences since their book deals happened. I feel like sometimes it can get elevated to this heavenly event, or that people only focus on the stressful times, so I wanted to chat with my fellow authors Lindsay Ribar, Leila Howland, and Brandy Colbert, to get an idea of what the good and bad realistically were f...

The Reece Malcolm List Advance Reader Copy Giveaway!

Ladies and gentlemen, Advance Readers Copies of The Reece Malcolm List showed up on my doorstep (technically they were dropped off at my desk at work, but the first visual is more adorable).

How wonderful do they look? I mean, I’m biased, but, still!

But you guys just want to know how to win one, right? It’s SUPER EASY! You just have to answer one simple question. And you don’t even have to tell the truth; I’ll NEVER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. This contest runs through next Friday, and a winner will...

Editing, Editing, Editing – Thoughts by Lisa Burstein, Rachel Harris, Cindi Madsen, and Me

Since I share an editor (the amazing Stacy Cantor Abrams) with some of my writer friends, I got the idea to have a little roundtable discussion on what going through edits was like for us. As you can see…I think we were all crazy, just in different ways. Enjoy!

AMY SPALDING: When I was a writer dreaming of having a book published, I had a pretty good idea for what the editorial process was like. But once I actually got my book deal and then…my editorial letter…well, it’s one thing to know what...

Musical Theatre Monday – Josh A. Cagan on Assassins

I am thrilled to have writer and funny dude Josh A. Cagan as our guest for Musical Theatre Monday this week! Josh is here to talk about what is, indisputably, one of the most bad-ass musicals around. So I will let him get to it!

JOSH A. CAGAN: It was my last year of grad school. I was majoring in Playwriting at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School for the Arts. I hadn’t acted in years. And I was in a Sondheim show. And I was there to right some wrongs.

Now, the jury’s out on whether or not I had ever a...
