On the Highest Tide of the Year
Earlier this month, Sydney waters experienced the highest tide of the year.
Officially 2.04 metres, it may well have been even higher, for at the baths (where I’ve swum for over thirty years) on the Georges River , I’ve never seen it so high..
Though not a regular swimmer, my husband Ron decided that this was an opportunity too good to miss. With the water temperature being around 25 degrees, who could blame him?
Our Maltese cross, Chicki, couldn’t bear to be left out, and http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Review: 'Lauren Played'

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
'Lauren Played' is the tenth work of Sydney writer, Margaret Lynette Sharp.
By the tender age of sixteen, the heroine, Lauren, has loved and lost. This story traces her journey away from despair as she discovers that there is life after heartbreak.
Although it's a quick read, I believe that 'Lauren Played' is both engaging and entertaining. The characters are believable, and the settings, especially at Sydney's Cronulla Beach, are nicely evoked.

Let's Dance!
Several times a month, Ron and I follow our favourite cover band, The Bandits, to various venues in Sydney. We love to hear their wonderful renditions of many of the greatest hits of the sixties, seventies and eighties; tunes made famous by both top Australian and overseas artists.

Hello, Again!
Hello, again!
That seems to me to be what this cockatoo is thinking.
I snapped him one morning when the park was alive with birds.
That’s one of the sweetest attractions http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Low Tide: An Egret Visits....
Though it makes swimming more difficult, and sometimes even impossible, low tide has its attractions.
There is a raw beauty in the exposed rocks, some studded with oyster shells. And something else: the graceful water birds often come to feed.
Some time ago, my visit to the river at low tide coincided with that of a beautiful, large white bird.

The River in the Rain
What a difference a day makes!
After a lengthy spell of dry weather, the heavens opened up today here in Sydney, Australia.
I for one quite enjoy walking in the rain, and Chicki our Maltese doesn’t shirk

It’s Springtime: It’s Wistaria Time!

Here in Sydney, Australia, we are in the midst of Springtime glories.
Judging by perfume, colour and form, one of its top contenders in the stakes of delight must surely be Wistaria.
Though its glory is as short-lived as it is spectacular, its presence is surely one of nature’s special treats.
Not so popular in modern gardens due to its very vigorous growth, it’s still to be found in abundance in some of the older yards, and sometimes it’s seen twining along a front fences: even trained as http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...
