To my Supporters: Thank you
The New Year brings with it a time for pause and reflection: a time to take stock of what we have, where we are, and where life is heading.
It occurred to me with resounding clarity that I must say ‘Thanks’ to all of you who have supported me, one way or another. To those who have looked at my posts, left a ‘like’ or a comment: maybe even bought a book or two: I’d like to acknowledge the positive force that your action has given to me.
Where are we, without some kind words http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Gardening: Good Therapy
In my younger day, I used to really enjoy gardening. Watching and nurturing the sprouting seeds: at first, delicate, almost invisible shoots popping up after just a few days in the ground: later, turning into often quite robust specimens of flowers, leaves, or veges. It seemed to me to be a most fascinating exercise.
But time moves on, and interests change. More and more, gardening took a back seat. The joy of caring for living plants somehow lost its magic: swept http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Western Australian Red-Flowering Gums: What a sight!
A week or two ago, I decided I’d better be quick: these beautiful flowering gums were passing their prime. So I immediately grabbed the camera and hot-footed it!
Eucalyptus ficifolia, as the botanists call it, is making its presence felt in the suburbs of Sydney these days as a stunning tree, both in gardens and, increasingly, as a street specimen. We are lucky http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Christmas lights!
For much of my life, one of the highlights of Christmas has been looking at the lights: the decorations that families and individuals display on their homes.
As the years have passed, the lights have become bigger and more elaborate. Indeed, this year’s offering http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Happy New Year: Music to My Ears s
New Year’s Eve 2012: what a night!
Many choose to see in the new year by dancing, and/or listening to music. And what better way to be thus entertained than by one of Sydney best cover bands, The Bandits.
As the vocals dictate, lead singer Paul sometimes delegates his role to either Gary or Conrad: all the while brilliantly supported by drummer Warwick. Their engaging renditions of many immensely popular tunes from the sixties to the eighties make for a night to remember.
From spirited performances of ‘Dance the Night Away’, http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Chicki's Christmas
Chicki knew she had to be good. After all, Santa was watching : and all she wanted was a new rope toy.
So, as her daddy Ron received his gift from her mummy Margaret, she was all alert and expectant.
Her face said, ‘Where’s mine?’
Within seconds it appeared, and all was excitement!
The game that ensued between us all became a http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

12-12-12 !
I cannot let this day pass without pointing out that many decades will slip away before mankind sees another date like this!
Perhaps governments of the world should have declared a Happy Twelves Day! And why not? Let’s grab every chance we can to celebrate, while we’re here!
In Sydney, Australia, it’s been a beautiful, early Summer day: lots of sunshine, not too hot: just right.
Wherever you are, I hope that life has treated you just fine, and that you somehow got a sense of where we all are in the scheme of life.
Happy Day!

Lights, Lights and More Lights!
Isn’t there something fascinating about light reflecting on the water?
A few days ago, here in a suburb of Sydney, I saw at midnight such a scene. It captivated me, and I sought to preserve its image with my camera.
Beautiful by day, reflections take on a quite different atmosphere when surrounded by a darkened scene. The limitless http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Here Comes Christmas!
Today, Santa arrived!
I saw him in my neighbourhood, listening to children of many ages: even having a word or two with the grown-ups that tagged along.
Is Santa the greatest traditionalist in the world? After all, year after year he dons a bright red suit: surely more at home is colder climates. But in his wisdom, he knows: that’s his signature. Hot or cold, fine or snowing (or in between): that’s how we know and love him.
But in this day and age, the local kids are treated http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...

Even Pipe Organs have birthday parties!
On Tuesday, 4th December, a celebration was held to honour the 4oth anniversary of the Great Hall Organ in Sydney University.
In addition, on this same day the Chancellor’s Trumpet was inaugurated. The Organ now has 54 stops, 79 ranks and 4005 pipes.
The well-known Sydney University Organist and Carillionist, Amy Johansen, expertly performed the recital, which http://margaretlynettesharp.wordpress...
