Mobile Post: 31 Manicures
I used to be so into my nails. Now they're lucky to get a coat of polish on them. I need to get back to making self care a priority. Bouts with depression will leave you looking a mess.
As I climb out of my sad, ugly stage I've decided to make love to my nails by dedicating myself to doing weekly mani/pedis. Each week I'll choose a design and blog about it here. Also, follow me on Instagram for exclusive pics of my journey. (@reallyrashida) I'll be using the hashtag #31manicures as well. I'm excited!
Sweet dreams...

No Letting Go
Musiq Soulchild sums up this picture for me. He sings: "I'm not the blame for the pain that was cause by previous cats who had your heart before me..."
Or if you're an Erykah Badu fan insert lyrics to Bag Lady.
Why is it so hard for us to let go of what past assholes did to us, ladies? Should the next man have to pay for what the ex man did? I say no but sometimes we just can't help it.
It's a vicious cycle. Not to put all blame on the guys but they tend to put us women through the same type of heartache over and over again by CHEATING! Yes, the fellas have a problem with being faithful. Many of us ladies have been cheated on more than once for no apparent reason. The general belief is that all men cheat. I don't believe that but there is some truth to it. Most do...Our pain defines us. One thing that makes a strong black woman strong is all the hurt and pain that she's been through. She comes out of it unscathed and so does her children. If we take away that struggle, what makes the black woman strong? This insecurity is one that doubles as a badge of honor that we don't want taken away. We're scared to death! Honesty, who wants to be shitted on by a man that they love? Nobody! When your heart has been played with you get overprotective of it. You vow that you will never let a man play you ever again. You want to make sure that you are safe from harm. Because let's face it. break ups are very hard. That pain is something that nobody wants to experience on a regular basis. Why do we make good men suffer? What can we do to change this? Listen to Previous Cats by Musiq below and think about it. Then leave your thoughts in the comments.

Money Making Monday: Black Women Millionaires
I have no idea how I stumbled upon Dr. Venus Opal Resse but, honey I'm so glad I did! For the past few years I've been following different women who coach female entrepreneurs on how to get their mind, business, and money right. I've learned a lot from people like Leela Somaya, Typhani Montgomery, Erika Lyremark, and Marie Forleo to name a few. The knowledge they've passed on to me is priceless but one thing was missing: I never found anyone who could speak directly to a woman like me!
I come from the hood. My mom worked hard and was on welfare. I'm the youngest of six so it was a constant struggle. Especially when your father is an alcoholic who has a problem with stealing from the household. I had no female role models who were entrepreneurs. I've never met a black woman who was a self made millionaire. I was taught go to school, get a good job, and if you're lucky, get married to a man who can make life easier.
All of that changed when I discovered Sabrina Patterson on Instagram and Dr. Venus. These ladies have bridged the gap for me. I finally see women who have the same background as me teaching business in a way that I can understand. I highly recommend everyone of you ladies follow Sabrina (@glambar) on Instagram and sign up for Dr. Venus' latest class.
Black Women Millionaires is gonna be epic! In this class 16 black women who have made seven figures from their businesses will sharing some jewels. I'm super excited and I hope you sign up. I did and listened to the exclusive interview Dr. Venus did with MC Lyte. It changed me. For real.
Click the banner below and sign up. You won't regret it!

Having Sex On The Inside
I read an interesting article last night posing the question of why do female correctional officers keep having sex with male inmates knowing the consequences if caught. The write up was inspired by the recent arrest of a St. Louis woman who was having sex with an inmate and smuggling in stuff for him. In the article a male inmate named "Mack" tells why he loves seeing a new lady CO working in the building. "Tamara", a female guard, explains her take on the situation, too.
According to Mack:
"Shit, I can be their daddy, I can be their man, their boyfriend, best friend or whoever they need me to be," he says. "As long as they get me what I want I can be whatever and whoever they need me to be. It's all a game really, a tradeoff. I know nobody does nothing for free, and if I got to sex one of these broads down to get her to bring stuff in to me, than you know what time it is."
According to Tamara:
"I believe that a lot of times the females that engage in this type of ethical suicide have major issues going on with themselves before they are even hired," Tamara, a former corrections officer who has moved into prison administration at a Midwestern facility, tells VICE. "A lot of them are single mothers who are looking to fill a void in their lives, whether it be not having a spouse, or a father figure on the outside."
Tamara makes complete and total sense to me. The first thing that I think when it comes to a woman that would risk her job and put her future on the line for an inmate is she's DESPERATE! But then I digress and realize that it's just easiest to say that. Honestly, I think it's a trust issue. I have my own so I know the feeling. I've never dated a man that served hard time behind bars but I know how it goes.
An insecure woman loves a man on lockdown for one reason: There is a certain security that comes from dating a man in prison. I know women personally who have said they love that their man is in jail because they ALWAYS know where he's at. On a recent episode of Black Ink Crew a cast member said the exact same thing about her man.
It's never, ever that serious to me. I'm sure there are some very handsome, well-built men in prison that spend every day working out and reading books. These men are charming and intelligent. But I couldn't cross a line like that. I would be too scared that I'll end up being the one in jail trying to help him. Lol. Nah. I'll pass.
Could you be a naughty prison guard?

How To Lose A Husband
Coming soon...... www.howtoloseahusbandbook.comA photo posted by Antonia Wright (@toyawright) on Feb 18, 2015 at 8:04pm PST
Toya Carter-Wright, b.k.a. Lil' Wayne's ex-wife, a.k.a. Memphitz current wife posted this photo to her Instagram page the other day. I kinda rolled my eyes when I first saw it. The gossip has been that her and Memphitz are having some hard times in their marriage BUT it's all made up for the sake of money. Reports say they have a reality show where she's gonna be fighting for her marriage. Now here comes this book. Is this just more stuff to exploit her relationship?
Y'all know I'ma softie so I'm gonna give Toya the benefit of the doubt. On the website in the caption she says that her book is an intimate look into her "journey of matrimony ~ in hopes it helps you navigate your own". Let us pray that it's a good one.
Will you grab a copy of Mrs. Carter-Wright's book?
